What a compliment from you, NOLO!! She's got heck of a stunning voice.. Yeah.. I have no doubt about she is the best female vocalist in the world!!
Once you go SoHyang you are trapped in her ethereal world there is no escape. I agree with you her technique is the best of any singer (female) currently performing, no one compares to her. There is such artistry to her performances that draw you in and takes you on a ride through feelings you, perhaps, never thought you had.
If you want to experience what in my opinion is her top performance, and one she even admitted was her most demanding, react to “Everyone” just sublime.
SoHyang is the one for me... there's no one that can touch what she meant for me...

If you had to react to one last song of So Hyang, it is "Everyone"- a 7 minute masterpiece that she says is her hardest song due to breath control.
Another bit about this one performance. She had pneumonia during this, and was told by a Dr that day, NOT TO SPEAK, but she pushed ahead, and sang that perfect with weak lungs and a bad throat.

My reaction exactly. I love music and I'm 66 and I keep trying to remember if I've ever heard anything that hits so hard. I've listened to a few other things by her, Folk: Arirang Alone, Gospel: Lean on Me, Rock: Mona Lisa. They all take me on rollercoaster ride along with Sohyang.

First, I have to say that they are both amazing singers, ilove both of them, but I have to confess that i love Sohyang more. The big difference is the arrangement and the feeling from her performance. Sohyang is always make a song her own which is not just one or couple modulation to make a song different, but the whole song. I don't know that you can feel that as me but the determination and creativity from her is always impress me. Also, every performance from her is touching which I rarely experience that feeling from other singer. The melody and the instrument from her arrangement, her voice control and her expression make the connection to the audience and to me. I don't know that you can feel that too, but I guess that there is somebody who can feel that too.
I answered you question before I watch the video and I noticed that you paused and mentioned a lot of the agility and flexibility of her voice. I suggest you to watch "Everyone" from immortal song 2. That's the most difficult song according from her thought. It will show you what her voice can do.

Its Sohyang. She is not even close at all. Sohyang is a super pristine technical vocalist., and others are just singers. I;m an old man and have heard them all, and for me, Sohyang is the best female vocalist on the planet. She switches from her chest to head to mix, back and forth at will because she has trained so many years and he has total control of her voice better than anyone else I know of.

YOU HAVE TO listen 'lean on me' from the same tv show. It's totally different mood and she shows every single technique people can do with perfect high note😆😆(and u can see Michael Bolton, the original singer of this song, in the audience giving her standing ovation!😆😆) plz keep going SOHYANG!! She is the best singer with such-a-high note and at the same time, she delivers her full-emotion directly to the listener.
Just to let you know, Michael Bolton was not the original singer of ' Lean on me.' Bill Withers wrote it and released it in 1972.

You Raise Me Up is a Christian church song. She is a gospel singer. You Raise me up has been around since about 2002. Not even an American song. Its an Irish/Norwegian song. The white man in the audience was Shane Filan, who sings for a UK group called Westlife, and this is a song they sing at about every concert.

Sohyang is better as far as technique and I also like her better for her more clear and polished sound:)
I love her, this song is exquisite there is no other way to describe it, she makes me cry every time, if I ever could do a song like that I would be so happy, just one song like that. Her skills and her feelings are so amazing, check her song Until my lord returns, Breathe from Masked singer and Dear Love, she sings with her soul and Spirit. My favorite female singer hands down, I don't like female artists that much, I make an exception with SoHyang. I watched her teaching a kid how to sing this song in such a lovely and wonderful way...
Both Mori and So Hyang are my most favorite female singers. It's like being asked if you prefer eating steak or lobster; one day I prefer one over the other, but both are fantastic. They are both so good but are also different. I am glad that you appreciate So Hyang- unfortunately there are those who thinks she just screams. People have given you lists of her performances, but the ones I would point out include:
1) Everyone- she stated this was her most difficult song due to breath control; a masterpiece
2) Arirang Alone- traditional Korean song apparently about the unification of North and South Korea
3) Lean on Me- a technical feast; she is singing Michael Bolton's song while he is in the audience
4) Mona Lisa- a totally different genre

Sorry to hear about the headache with copyright. Glad this one got through. First of all, You Raise Me Up is originally performed by Secret Garden but later on, popularized in the U.S. by Gosh Groban. Technically, Sohyang is probably as good as it gets. This rearranged rendition by Sohyang is a masterpiece. The transition, resonance, control are her staples in every single performance.
Morissette and Sohyang are both amazing singers in their own right and people love them for their personal reasons. For me, Sohyang will always be my favorite singer because of the way she sings to console and comfort the heart, not just to amaze or entertain our ears. When on stage, she sings to communicate, rather than just to impress. While many argue about who is a better singer, Sohyang sings as a friend (to me) rather than a star. No one else come close to it from my perspective.

Many thanks for the reaction. With regards to the question at hand, I love both Sohyang and Mori, for completely different reasons. I don't really think about directly comparing the things l love in life, personally I prefer to just...love them for what they are.
A suggestion. Over the years, Sohyang has given us some pretty spectacular performances in english. Seeing and hearing her emote on her native language though is really a sight of its own. Try out her performance of the Korean folk song "Arirang Alone", which talks about the re-unification of the Korean peninsula and the end of the civil war between North and South Korea (Sohyang is South Korean). I think you will understand what I mean when you see this.

Morissette and Sohyang are just super wonderful. The difference for me (not for everyone though) is that Sohyang always shook me to my core. It is eargasm that I rarely experience in my life. When I listen to Sohyang, I get it practically every single time. Morissette sounds wonderful, but no eargasm.

Sohyang is the better of the 2 because for me she always hits me straight in the heart very emotional no one else has ever done that on a constant level to me and I'm 67 she is a gift from God!

Can you watch So Hyang Arirang alone, arirang is a Korean folk song and has many different arrangement I have heard three different versions. One in classic pansari, one in more modern version and this one that is a more orchestrated version.

I think so too. Mori has beautiful tone and impressive techniques for secular contents and average collaboration like dating someone for gorgeous look and pleasant personality but not so much character and intelligence for a while until get bored.
Those that set apart for Sohyang are spiritual content and extraordinary collaboration that last on another level.

Just so you know ... the First and Original Version of "You Raise Me Up" was done by "Secret Garden" released in 2001 while the most popular version is "Josh Groban's" released in 2003 which is considered the best known version. Josh Groban got a big boost when he sang it on the Oprah Winfrey show back in 2004. It was then done again by "Westlife" released in 2005. (This song has been covered by hundreds different artist to date.)

Answer to who I like best: I prefer SoHyang over Morrisette 4 sure. SoHyangs life experiences come through in her singing and song choices where as I see Morissette as "Unseasoned" as of yet. TBH ... So Hyang is old enough to be Morissette's mother! 41 years old Vs 23 years old, so Morrissette has time to grow and live up to her true potential.
