The Korean singing show you're watching is called "Immortal Songs", there is a 1 and a 2 for this show from what I know of. Its a contest for Korean singers to cover songs of legendary singers and songwriters they invite and the Korean singers create their own versions of the original songs as the "legend" watches. This is just her MIX... her own version of You Raise Me Up. She added the beginning, and the other parts throughout. Sohyang likes to make every song her own. You Raise Me Up has been around longer than I have. SoHyang just made a Production out of it instead of just a cover song. And... during this performance she had severe Pneumonia. She was told by a Dr. just before this performance to NOT SPEAK, but with weak lungs and a bad throat, she pushes on and comes out and does this.

If I’m not mistaken, SO HYANG was diagnosed with cancer…after surviving the ordeal she saw her second chance at life as a gift from God and dedicated her voice/life to brining joy to others…she is a gospel singer who grew up singing in church and she rejected international fame choosing instead to sing only for Jesus and to raise money for charity. This is why I believe we feel so much from her singing...its from above and real.

Maybe get a few voice lessons from a coach or teacher to help you open up your sound with less stress to your cords and more confidence, but man you have all the ingredients. I know you are a musician...but the way you can't help but vocalize along with the emotion, plus your pitch and control all tell me you can "sang" if you want to. Anyway, I love your reactions. She is above just a singer. Her technique is so near perfect, that I consider her a Vocalist. Seth Riggs still coaches her on occasions, this I know, because I spoke with him when he came to my alma mater, Juilliard, last year. So Hyang and Dimash are by far my favorite singers. One thing I find incredible in her performances (beyond that phenomenal voice of course), are the arrangements, they're amazing. Because singers like them (Hyang and Dimash) are out of this world, they have a whole team to make music their height, I mean, more difficult, and the result of that work is really wonderful. 😊😊😊❤

Does she sing at churches on Sundays? Yes. Is she strictly a gospel signer? Probably not since she regularly performs at concerts and TV shows that most Christians would find secular. It really doesn't matter though. She is a great signer regardless of how you categorize her.

Actually I have nothing against pausing the video due to avoiding copyright but it would be better if you finish watching the whole performance then replay it or maybe stop at some interlude part. Sohyang is a devout Christian. She started singing in her local community, not intending to be a professional singer.[1]
When she was in her third year of High school her parents divorced. Due to this Sohyang had financial troubles and often was very sad. According to her, she used to listen to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion all the time, which helped her to get through these difficult times.[3] Even nowadays Sohyang is still a big fan of Mariah Carey. Her favourite album is Music Box.[4][5]
At the age of 20 she married Kim Hee-jun, the drummer of her band POS. Soon afterwards Sohyang was diagnosed with cervical cancer; due to the early detection, she was able to survive the cancer but was rendered infertile.[2][6]
Her sister-in law is the guitarist JinJoo Lee from DNCE.[7][8]
Sohyang gives special lectures about singing and vocal technique in the Baekseok University in Cheonan City.[9]

The Korean singing show you're watching is called "Immortal Songs", there is a 1 and a 2 for this show from what I know of. Its a contest for Korean singers to cover songs of legendary singers and songwriters they invite and the Korean singers create their own versions of the original songs as the "legend" watches. Then the audience get to vote to see who advances. Sohyang is one of the top singers in Korea as well as one of the best singers in the world imo. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the cover, shes amazing.

This is just her MIX... her own version of You Raise Me Up. She added the beginning, and the other parts throughout. Sohyang likes to make every song her own. You Raise Me Up has been around longer than I have. SoHyang just made a Production out of it instead of just a cover song. And... during this performance she had severe Pneumonia. She was told by a Dr. just before this performance to NOT SPEAK, but with weak lungs and a bad throat, she pushes on and comes out and does this.

If I’m not mistaken, SO HYANG was diagnosed with cancer…after surviving the ordeal she saw her second chance at life as a gift from God and dedicated her voice/life to brining joy to others…she is a gospel singer who grew up singing in church and she rejected international fame choosing instead to sing only for Jesus and to raise money for charity. This is why I believe we feel so much from her singing...its from above and real.

Maybe get a few voice lessons from a coach or teacher to help you open up your sound with less stress to your cords and more confidence, but man you have all the ingredients. Oh and as far as being a gospel singer, yes she is. Her main genre in Korea is CCM, Contemporary Christian Music. As far as a singer, for me... she is the best female vocalist on the planet. She is above just a singer. Her technique is so near perfect, that I consider her a Vocalist. She has trained many years to do what she does now, and her first Vocal Coach was the same one that coached Michael Jackson. Seth Riggs.

Seth Riggs still coaches her on occasions, this I know, because I spoke with him when he came to my alma mater, Juilliard, last year. You can know when it someone has study at his studio, because they always do a full teeth show when they sing. So Hyang and Dimash are by far my favorite singers. One thing I find incredible in her performances (beyond that phenomenal voice of course), are the arrangements, they're amazing.
Because singers like them (Hyang and Dimash) are out of this world, they have a whole team to make music their height, I mean, more difficult, and the result of that work is really wonderful.

So Hyang and a few family members arrange all her songs. So Hyang trains the orchestra and the background singers to get how it is to be performed. It is a small group of people.
I love all so hyang´s live performances.... you should check on the ones from The King of Mask Singer Show ("Hug Me", "Dear Love", "Breathe")... you´ll love them.... Does she sing at churches on Sundays? Yes. Is she strictly a gospel signer? Probably not since she regularly performs at concerts and TV shows that most Christians would find secular. It really doesn't matter though. She is a great signer regardless of how you categorize her.

Actually I have nothing against pausing the video due to avoiding copyright but it would be better if you finish watching the whole performance then replay it or maybe stop at some interlude part. Just some little advice since I felt every pause is at the best part or climax, and pausing the video makes you easily miss some great details, also keeps you from experiencing the "full amazingness of So Hyang" :)
