I tried the WomanCode cleanse from Alisa Vitti... and failed miserably // 4-day liver detox

  • Hi friends, welcome back to another video! I recently documented my experience with the WomanCode diet - a 4-day liver cleanse consisting of whole foods and nothing else.
The author, Alisa Vitti, teaches women how to heal their hormones naturally through lifestyle changes. She claims this can help with hormone-related issues such as fibroids and cysts (I get both of these), acne, excess weight, symptoms of PMS, PCOS, and more.
I've dealt with anxiety and depression for many years, and even with antidepressants, my mood often feels unstable. I get terrible period cramps and sometimes vomit. I'm always exhausted. I've had significant hair loss for years. And on and on.
I first read her other book, In The Flo, which introduced me to "cycle syncing." And when I learned about this liver cleanse in WomanCode, I knew I had to try it.
I hope you find this video helpful! xo

Intelligent people are often depressed. One reason is that they know too much. I remember life was good when I was a kid and didn’t know too much. I found you in myself.

I've wondered about this... about how much being a very deep thinker (sometimes, too deep) contributes to the depression. What's the saying? Ignorance is bliss. Sending you lots of love, my friend.

I agree with you. I did a juice and veggie fast once and it was hell. I did a fast of nothing but a few olives and nuts and did so much better. I would eat nothing that a day of fruit as far as how it made me feel. I like fasting on tea, water coffee for cleansing. Meat and fat with cooked vegetables and very little fruit worked wonders for me combined with intermittent fasting Your little dog is so adorable.

      Thank you!
Every body is so different. You have to find what works for you. Following one-size-fits-all approaches can be dangerous. So, good for you for trying new things!

I would say stop eating sugars if you eat cakes, biscuits, chocolates a lot... I tried this for 6 weeks and I feel great now. These have no benefit for your body and insulin-resistance can destroy the future , so you can prevent in this way

That's so funny you mention that because I've been learning more about what these types of foods do to our bodies. I don't have a sweet tooth, but I DO love bread and pasta. So, I've cut back on those a little bit. I'm glad to hear you're seeing good results!

Thank you so much for making this video. I've been trying to talk myself into doing this cleanse for years, but I've had issues with kitchen access in the places I've lived. I also worried it wouldn't be enough fat and protein for me, and it would make me miserable. Now that I've seen your video, I think I'll let myself off the hook. I still wish I knew what to do to make my periods less terrible, though. 😞

Oh, my friend. I FEEL YOU!!! I'm sure some people do ok on this cleanse. But man, I was miserable. Even for a few days, I don't understand how eating so little (especially fat and protein) can be healthy or even safe.
I can tell you that I cut back on caffeine, soy, and gluten, and that has helped with my periods and also my ovarian cysts. So, if you consume a lot of these things, maybe start here? (I didn't cut them out completely! That felt very restrictive.)
Alissa Vitti has another book - In the Flo. She goes into more detail about how to eat with your cycle. No cleanse needed. :)
I'd love to stay in touch. I'm confident there are things we women can do to feel better.

I don't think the point is to completely cut foods out and do a hardcore cleanse. The goal of the book and the teaching is to sync with your cycle and support your hormones as opposed to breaking them. You don't have to do all or nothing. You definitely do not need to go all in and only eat whole food plant-based foods. Instead you should figure out where you are in your cycle and treat yourself accordingly. That could be doing lower impact workouts, or adding specific vegetables at certain times of the month to supplement your hormones.

It's about 112 degrees in Vegas right now, so getting outside has been a bit of a challenge. Summers are so extreme here.

:) too much fruit, that's the problem. You should try keto, you will have FAT and PROTEINS 😀

      @YourBFFMegan  Год назад

I think keto might be a bit extreme for me BUT I do try to eat lower-carb and higher-protein/fat. That seems to be the most gentle on my stomach. But it was way too much fruit/veggies, for sure. I LOVE that kind of food but even I have my limits. :p

On day 3 of this cleanse. Boyyyyyy I am grumpy as hell! Anxiety like a mofo!! Thankfully its only 4 days... anymore and I would tap 💯
I did add up the calories everyday, and day 2 was a little over 1000 calories. Now for the record im only 5'1 and that was no where near enough calories. Cabt imagine how a tall woman would feel. Its giving "the military diet" circa 2011 😒

Omg GIRL I give you so much credit. I don't know how you did it, but GOOD JOB!! Have you noticed a difference since then?
It definitely wasn't enough food. By the end of the day, I was in tears. Honestly, I'm surprised it was even 1000 calories.

@@YourBFFMegan I lost a little weight but I will say just those 4 days helped a lot with starting the cycle syncing amazingly enough.
Maybe just try the cycle syncing instead of the cleanse. I'm at the tail end of my luteal phase right now and I'm in shock how I literally have no bloating 😳 This is almost a miracle in my eyes. I get extremely bloated before my period!!!
