Before the creation of Malaysia and Indonesia on 16 Sep 1963 and 17 Aug 1945 respectively, the people from both countries freely travelled within the Malay Archipelago sharing their cultures and traditions. It is not surprising to see the same kind of food, to hear the same songs, etc which evolved in these countries which also include Singapore, a city state where I am dwelling in.
Well Malaya existed a few years before Malaysia.
Singapore now but it is belongs to Malaysia until 1965. It is a Malay land, infact, stole by Chiness.
@@zulkufliaziz104 Sir, to begin with Singapore was part of the Johore kingdom until the Sultan of Johore who resided at Telok Blangah in Singapore signed a treaty with the British govt to allow Singapore as a trading post for the British and naturally lost the status of governing Singapore. Thereafter, the British transformed Singapore to a thriving port attracting fleets of ships of diversed nations to trade here. Lets look into the past history to dig up the details.
Malayan people didn't travelled or migration to nusantara.
Nusantara people did, because they do not want malaya peninsula goes to india china british people.

The "rendang" is the traditional dish from West Sumatra. The word "rendang" was derived from a West Sumatran verb "randang" or "marandang, which means "a method for cooking something for a long time until all the soup is dry at all". The West Sumatrans, or also called "the Minangkabau people" or the Minangs for short, liked to eat buffalo beef. Initially, long time ago, rendang was made with buffalo beef. That kind of meet is very hard and difficult to eat. The Minang people managed to find a way how to cook buffalo beef into food that could be eaten more easily. They cooked it with a lot of tropical spices, red hot chilli peppers and thick coconut milk, with the calculation: 1 kg of buffalo beef is cooked with coconut milk taken from eight big coconut fruits. They cooked it all in eight hours with wood continuously until the coconut milk was gone. This process is called "marandang". The result is called "randang". In Standard Indonesian, we call it "rendang". Today, it is difficult to get buffalo beef. People replace it with cow's beef. It is more tender than buffalo beef. So, they use less coconut milk in adjusting the hardness level of cow's beef. Therefore, they cook rendang only around four hours. When this traditional food has not cooked until really dried, or in other words, we still have the thick soup of it, we call the product "kalio". However, if we continue to cook it until the thick soup is completely gone and replaced by dark dregs, we call it "rendang". The Minang men have tradition of going outside their homeland in West Sumatra to far lands, including Malaysia. Minang women remain in their homeland, take good care of their homeland and the whole province becomes matrilinileal. Family's name is got from the mother's side. Women are the conquerors of this clean province. As far as I know, Minang people in Indonesia make rendang with fresh ingredients. However, Minang people in Malaysia make rendang with dried ingredients. That is a story about rendang that I know. From know this story from mouth to mouth. Long time ago, there was not any Internet connection or Whatsapp.

Same goes to Singaporean as we know Singapore was part of Malaysia a long times ago ( Not claiming Singapore as Malaysia, okey ah Singaporean ) But the food over there just same as Malaysia, they have nasi lemak, kuey tiaw and even satay, I had listen from this one white guy saying that Nasi Lemak is so delicious and then he said, the best food of Singapore and my reaction was like "okay, then" like I was never fight with him over the fxxking food, and I appreciated for his opinion even tho we know Nasi Lemak was officially from the Malays, but I understand that's in Singapore also have Malay so yeah why we have to fight for each other just for the foods? What I mean is we are all just from same races/culture/continent that's is Nusantara ( I know some stup1d indonesian will claim Nusantara is just for Indonesia not for Malaysia or what ) but what I mean is we are in the same archipelago which is Malay archipelago ( Nusantara : for local name ) and fun fact Malay archipelago is the largest archipelago in the worlds, so it is doesn't matter why our foods/culture/races/religions/clothes/languages have a similarity because we are people of Malay Archipelago/Nusantara, and let's end this war of claiming please
Mark's answer about rendang being from both Malaysia and Indonesia is sort of correct. The thing is, rendang is not a single, monolith recipe. So whether that rendang comes from Malaysia or Indonesia will depend on the recipe. For example, Rendang Padang is from Padang, which makes it Indonesian. But Rendang Tok is unique to Perak, which makes it Malaysian. (there are numerous other types of rendang which originates from their own particular regions).
Padang or minang people migration to n9 perak
Perak or n9 people didn't migration to padang.
So rendang original from padang.

Rendang is Minang dish. We got Minang in both countries Malaysia and Indonesia, (before it got seperated as two countries). Minang people is Malay ethnic (even in Indonesia, they’re classified as Malay- In Indo there are many ethnic). So this dish is belong to Malay people, no doubt. In Indo they’re famous with beef rendang, but in Malaysia, chicken rendang is in top of the list.
Minang in indonesia didn't clasification as malay.
Rendang original from minang people
Laksa original from malay people
Minang didn't have laksa so palembang didn't have rendang.
Its simple.
Nope, minang ethnic is different from malay ethnic. Even my friend who is from Kelantan said that negeri sembilan has weird local language because their ancestors came from the original land of minang people which is in Sumatra. If you mentioned "in indo there are many ethnics", then it's true that minang and malay have their own unique differences because we Indonesia are separated into many islands.
I didnt surprised that Indonesians didn't know Minang is ethnically Malay. That's true Indonesia might not classify Minang as Malay, but that just happened quite recently. Cuisine is not a solid criteria to define an ethnic. Trust me, most of the time, categorization in Indonesia definition in mostly every aspect in this world can't be taken as fact, because there's always inclusion of political interests. That's not their people fault, of course. But I think it's time to professionally follow scientific explanation.
@@adijanuardea1582 never heard of laksa minang. Where did you get those? 🤔 And by the way, laksa is Malaysian, not Malay's. It's fusion. But rendang is Malay's. 😘
@@user-vt4np1xo3r oh really? What about javanese? Balinese? Are they also malay? Because fyi, javanese in Malaysia are considered as malay. Rendang is from both countries maybe. It has it's presence in all states in Malaysia with slightly different ingredients used. Malaysia and Indonesia are of the same Malay language (Bahasa Melayu) but different dialects. It's like Britain and Ireland. Neighbouring countries with the basics of same language. We are known as The Malay Archepilago once upon a time before colonization ☺️
Your rendang from minang diaspora.
There is no malay archipelago cause its british name.
Its nusantara
Just so you know, not all Indonesians understand bahasa, there are still many people in rural areas or elderly people use their local languages. Every Malaysian who experienced traveling in Indonesia and meet locals probably aware about the local languages that I'm pretty sure that the Malaysian won't understand a bit.
In Malaysia, the citizens will be categorized as "bangsa melayu, bangsa cina, bangsa india". In Indonesia, we normally don't catagorize the citizens based on their ethnicities, even though we're aware that we have various ethnicities. We may know others identified as orang jawa, batak, sunda, tionghoa, etc. Indonesia has the specific terms of identity that probably different from Malaysia, like "bangsa" for nation, "ras" for race, and "suku/etnis" for ethnicity. For example if Malaysians say "bangsa cina" for Malaysian Chinese, we Indonesians say "etnis tionghoa" Indonesian Chinese.
As far as I know, Malaysia even has schools for each major bangsa (sekolah kebangsaan). In Indonesia, usually the Chinese kids goes to catholic school.

even more stupid when you say Minang is part of Johor Riau, I, as a native Minang, have never been part of Johor Malay, you go to school only to twist historical facts, your ability is great at that,
Rendang is a culinary original from Minangkabau, West Sumatra. The Minang people call this dish "randang".
The word originates from marandang, which means cooking coconut milk until it dries slowly. Rendang needs to be cooked for a long time until the sauce is dry.
In historical records, rendang food has been present in every Minangkabau traditional ceremony that has been going on for centuries.
According to a written record of the 19th century, it is stated that rendang appeared in the 16th century. At that time, Minang people like to travel to the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
Travel via waterways and take up to a month or more. Because there is no place for ships to stop, the nomads prepare durable food, namely rendang.
There From the Kingdom Period to the Dutch Era
Other records also mention that rendang has existed since the time of the Pagaruyung Kingdom, to be precise during the time of King Adityawarman (1347-1375 AD). However, the meat used at that time was from buffalo.
Meanwhile, when viewed from its shape, rendang is also thought to be a change from curry, a typical Indian food. This is associated with the arrival of traders from Gujarat, India who existed since the 14th century.
Gujarati traders came with Indian spices. Therefore, rendang is considered part of the advanced process of a drier curry.
Then the existence of rendang was also recorded in a written record by a Dutchman named Colonel Stuers in 1827.
In his notes, Stuers did not specifically call it rendang, but he mentioned a food that was blackened and burned. These characteristics certainly match the characteristics of rendang, which is cooked dry and dark in color.
Found in Other Countries
Until now, many rendang can be found in other countries including Malaysia. However, if you trace the existing historical records, its origins still originate from Indonesia.
it has nothing to do with javanese, sundanese and chinese, it seems that you are narrow-minded and evil-minded, and that is your quality
So, don't be stupid and stubborn
