I was a helmsman in the Navy for an aircraft carrier. I found it fun. I would really enjoy some sort NAVY ship simulator. The best simulations to run would be doing replenishments at sea (Both Con (store) and Fuel). the thing is that needs to be had about these simulators is that you need someone else telling you where to go and what heading to maintain and certain rules that need to be followed. For example, in rough seas you are told to maintain a heading of 325 degrees. The rules are the faster you go, the less rudder you are allowed to use (Especially on an aircraft carrier and you're launching jets or they're landing) These additions would make things so much more interesting for the simulators of big ships. The point should be trying to learn how the ocean works in different conditions. When you are pulling out of port, typically a person is called in who's job is only pulling ships in and out of port. They don't actually control the helm. They call out course adjustments that need to be acted upon as quickly as possible and with accuracy. In different conditions, these adjustments can be rapid fire and hard to keep up with (in real life especially because you have to audibly repeat back everything) Some kind of speech recognition would be nice. If the Con says "Come right 5 degrees" The helms men replies "Come right 5 degrees Aye".. Then when the rudder is in place "my Rudder is right 5 degrees, no new course given." The con would usually say after that "Come right to 152 degrees" Helms man replies "Come right to 152 degrees aye" Then when stead on that course "Now steady on 152 degrees" This would make it that much more realistic. You could play the con, where you control an AI helmsman (Or second player)through audio alone. You pay attention to the logistics and and periphrial data and allow someone or AI to make the necessary course adjustments based on your orders. Everything about controlling big ships is about forethought. The con who shouts out headings to the helmsman has to know what is coming up long before. he has to anticipate the delay of the helmsman and after that the delay of rudder and the further delay of the ships reaction to it all. I wish ship simulators had these functions. :(
I always wished I wasn't poor so I could have a gaming PC to do amazing stuff like this. Not just the first person shooter games but more real and beautiful graphics stuff like this. Running the ship simulator and flight simulator. Even the bus and truck simulator too. I wish I could play these things.
all u have to do is use w,a,s,d to control the ship, and those things that u didn't know what they were, they were side thrusters to move the ship horizontally.
I have one of the slowest computers possible, its rubbish, but this game never crashes for me, I hate going on boats IRL, im very seasick, but I love this game, its amazing
Prime example, the new Deepwater Horizon movie. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty good film based on a tragic story, but as usual just because it's American tragedy the world revolves around it, even though the Piper Alpha oilrig disaster in 1988 in the North Sea, East of the Orkney Islands (Scotland) was a far greater loss of life, 167 lives lost to be exact.
I wish they had some sort of open world free roam where you could sail any ship anywhere

Amazing game, hope to get it sometime. However, the water physics don't seem incredibly complicated for a game based entirely on them.
