ran into the same problem on my 89 F150... right off the bat. Decided I'm not f*ckin around with this X6, so looked up a couple quick vids... and I'm going with what you did. Good idea. welding a nut on will save much cost , time, and effort. Thanks man.
@@Saito12 Hope you had Torx Plus bits, regular Torx will strip the bolt out,but even with the right socket they sometimes wont come out, welding nuts on and penetrating oil on the bolt under the bed usually does it every time!
Good idea. You need to go under the truck and spray penetrating oil on the bolt from the under side. It won't get to the threads if you spray it from the top.
Same problem on my 2000 Tundra. The Torx bits just don't have enough stability or bit bite to break them lose.......impacts or not. Welding like you did is the way.
Or you could use the correct socket. Should've used an ip50. It's an impact rated t50 plus socket. It's slightly different than a t50, but paired with an impact will make all the difference in the world.
@@martinboettcher4564 That is really good to know. I only broke one weld doing it this way, I cleaned it up with a small angle grinder and re welded it. Thanks for the input

Hope it worked for you, I was pretty frustrated with the torx bits.

Great trick. The difference between a good and a bad day
Seriously: )
You're no idiot bro, it worked so you did quite well in my opinion.
Mans gotta do what a man’s gotta do, it worked! Thanks for sharing.
Most Excellent! I love thinking outside the box! Adapt and overcome!

good ol American ingenuity, thanks.
I have a 03’ f 250. Had the same problem only with the front drivers side bolt. Had to grind it off.
Humongous pain in the butt!!
Thanks for the tip,

Hope it helped :)
@@Saito12 They're TP45 not T-50. Torx plus, I had to buy on Amazon.

Good to know, I looked everywhere and could not find anything that worked better. Thanks
I ordered two impact rated torx bits and twisted them off quicker than the regular ones

You should have used Torx Plus bits.
^^ should be pinned
Had to use flame wrench on mine, dangerous but had no choice, reinstalled with ss bolts.
Kind of a pain. Sometimes just gotta get the job done.
Well Done !
Whatever works, right?.
Best method yet!
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR.
You bet hope it worked for you
It’s a T50p bit not t50
Dude sounds like Alex Jones.
I just purchased a bed bolt from a Fire dealer. The cost was $8.00.
8 dollars times 8 bed bolts.
Wow….. just get the right socket
And you can't reuse the bed bolts.
Can you explain why??? Ty
@@BigPappaLos they are torque to yield like many engine head bolts. Loading up a bed with 2000lbs is no joke.
I reused them. The bed has been on for more than 5 years. Seems to be working fine. It's a work truck, been loaded many times
Good idea
Thank you, it worked better than I thought it would.
Roseanna yay, now she’s gonna and I have to say
FAKE 350 LOL
Haha, you're right it's a Toyota Tacoma
