My band is bass, guitar , drums and 3 singers. Both bass and guitar use PodGo s into a digital mixer and out to PA.It's a game changer, especially when you're in your 60's and don't feel like humping amps up stairs. Love the PodGo.
You ain't kidding. I've always been a diehard tube amp analog pedal guy but my amp and pedalboard plus two guitars is too much to carry anymore for me . I just got a pod go and it is a game changer for sure. I'm in my fifties with a bad leg so I had to do something. It's a new trick for an old dog to learn but it is easy to use and it sounds good.
@@bobbychubb6913 A PodGo or HeadRush combined with a digital mixer, In Ear Monitors and eDrums gives us a totally quiet stage, crazy control of our output, almost zero chance of feedback if you're following set up rules. Set up and breakdown is also much easier and at 64 I'm not in the mood for a tough breakdown at the end of the night. Best of luck to you Bobby. Happy Easter, brother.
I've got to say I am honestly so impressed by how well andertons has managed to present these split screen videos! I'm seriously blown away! Very little loss to video quality as compared to your in person vids.
Thank you for the kind words! We are glad you have continued to enjoy our videos & hope to keep good content coming in the future. 🤘
Hope they can find a way to do the same with Rob or Bea.
@@HoracioGarciaMusic Well, Bea.
Yes, very good. I think what they've done is record independently at the two locations then sync them up.
lonegroover yep, definitely much better product when recording separately. Lots of post production required, but Andertons is great at that
I've been so impressed with how the Line6 stuff has been sounding! massive improvements in the past few years.
Someone's been putting the time in during lockdown!! Great playing Cap.
Lee, amazing playing! Loved the blues playing on the first preset. Couldn't believe it!
Got mine three days ago. For the money, easily the best unit Line 6 has released in years; $450 USD basically gives you a Helix LT with a couple less buttons and I/O options. This thing is literally a must-buy for guitarists who: gig in function bands; need to do pro recording in small, noise-sensitive spaces; teach lessons in a wide range of styles.
Paul Hindmarsh . Amazing musician and human
Couldn't of put it better ourselves! We were lucky to have him as part of this video 🤘
Incredible musician
Always love Paul's playing, so much feeling! Funky bluesy, fantastic.
It's always a pleasure to have him down! 🤘
You guys do GREAT editing!! Thank you for producing such great content!!! AWESOME!!!!! :-)
Great job on the video Andertons that worked really well. Line 6 you guys are smashing it with this new unit I will be having one of them when payday comes round they sound brilliant.
Cheers just pulled the pin and ordered 1 from your website great demo just what I needed 👍🎸
Hi! Do you still own it and do you like it?
I’m not even halfway through but this is a great video so far. I’ve watched a lot about the pod go, but this one is at the right pace.
One of the best things about these videos is seeing how much Lee's improvising has come since the early days. His feel for what he's playing has gotten so much better! Nicely done sir.
Great to see Paul again....Line 6 are going to take over the world....amazing sounds, and ease of use, hundreds of amps, pedals....hard to beat it in a mix...don't hesitate...get something from the Helix family :)
Thanks for reviewing this. Very interested in buying. You guys are the best
With the ongoing firmware updates Line6 products just keep getting better and better. How nice is it to buy this and a year later get new amps and effects in the unit you already bought. Awesome.
I wanted a Darkglass pedal (normally £350) and a wah pedal, but didn't know which one. Buying this was a no brainer! Four things that don't get mentioned often:
- I no longer think to myself (I wish I had this type of pedal, but can't justify the price, so I'll tell myself I don't need it (like I've never tried a looper pedal for this reason).
- You don't have to wrestle with noise coming from each pedal.
- You don't need to worry about the "limit" of number of pedals available, because you can just add pedals to another preset and switch between them.
- Rearranging pedals in the chain is now a breeze. This used to take me hours of fiddling with my other pedal board.
“This is the first time that POD and Helix have.. you know... scissored.”
lmao
Great Info, Awesome Jammin, You Guys Rocked This One 👍👍🎶🎶🎸Keep Bringin Those Videos.
Been waiting for a proper Anderton's look at the Pod Go. This made my day!
Great little blues noodle at 6:23 - nice work Capt!
Amazing video, love watching these videos whilst I work. And a 'Sound like Stereophonics' please!!!
Been waiting for this one. Got one on order
You are gonna have a great time when it arrives! 😉
Thx for the great video! Looking forward to the bass demo of this unit
Great to see Paul again and hear him play!
Just ordered from your site and can’t wait to get it :)
Good job Lee - and some tasty playing too.
I just ordered a pod go today I had to order one from another music store because I live in the US. I do love watching the Anderson’s videos I wish I had something like this when I was younger. I don’t have a music shop to go to and the closest one to me is a 4 hour drive. Sorry for the long comment but just wanted to show my appreciation to you guys Anderson’s hope you’re doing well with all this craziness going on.
I’ve been watching videos to help me choose my first effects unit …. This is one of the best I’ve seen
Thank you for this demo!
I just ordered one :-)
Thanks! Taking a hard look at this hardware
It's worth the look... Glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘
Line 6 certainly has come a long way haven’t they!
The Andertons Morning Show! Another awesome drive to work! Morning gents and thanks for the awesome video. That POD looks nice, but I'm still make in love with my BOSS ME-80
Glad to bring you your morning dose of Andertons TV! 🤘
Enjoyed this. Very helpful review! Cheers. [ PS Your bass playing is fine! ]
I was looking at a HX stomp to complete my bedroom board but after watching this, and evaluating where I am as a guitarist, this is a much better option. It also replaces à PodXT live from a decade or so ago.
I have POD 2.0 still sounds fine sometimes
29:30 😂😂 Love Chris, such a legend
There is always love for Chris 🤘
It's way past time we "are amazed" at Lee's latest play. The guy is a player. Now we can hammer on him for his choice of music or something. Let it rip Lee!
No, no, no. NOW we rip on the Captain for his poor fingerstyle technique on bass. Come over to the Dark Side, Lee. It won't hurt a bit. Promise. Baaaaahahahahahaha.
After much research I bought a Samson RSXM10a 10" wedge monitor for my PodGo and I'm glad I did! It's got a COAX speaker with a bitch cabinet and that's the way to go IMHO. The coax tweeter being in the center of the speaker, combined with wood cabinet makes the PodGo sound amazing! Plus, it's relatively priced.😉
I'm really interested in this because the HX Stomp is still a bit expensive for me. This is a good alternative.
BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS 😂😂😂 Great demo, and Lee, your bass playing is pretty solid (it keeps getting better each time!).
Thanks guys!. Time to save up for one!
Looks like Lee uses the longest cable, which he found in Andertons shop 😁
paul is a class act, really cool dude
The video was perfect. Even if it was some single playing, it was nicely done!!!! Way to go Andertons!!!
Ordered mine a month ago. Should be getting it this Friday along with the headrush frfr 108. I am excited
Sounds like a killer new gear day! Thanks for tuning in 🤘
Best purchase I have made in years.
Thank for doing a very detailed dive into this Line6podgo! I will be receiving mine later today. Can't wait to hear it. $449 in the States.
Glad you enjoyed the video... You are gonna have a great time once your POD Go arrives! 🤘
Always needed that extra block... 😄 Maddening
If you’re hesitating to but this, buy it, you won’t regret it. I bought to use as a pedalboard and keep the amp presets off and it is insane. The only downside is that you can only choose four different pedals of your choice at once, but it isn’t that big of a deal. I’d recommend 10/10
This is a little long but if you're on the fence about modeling this could be a worthwhile read.
I bought one of these for late night practicing through headphones and the occasional fly gig/jam. It sounds so good to me that it has become my main rig, but there’s an important catch- I bypass the cab sims and put it straight into the fx loop return of my Bad Cat Cub 15R because, let’s face it, FRFR systems cannot recreate the “amp in a room” sound.
Although I’m not about to part with my Eventide H9, the effects on board are good to excellent. I’m still pretty floored by how uniformly great this setup sounds. Just so you don’t think I’m some easily impressed noob, I’ve been playing since the early 80’s and own or have owned great amps by the likes of Mesa (at least 6), Carr, Friedman, Budda, Fender CS, Orange, Rivera, Revv, and so-on. I’ve had my favorites from these brands and I can really say that the Pod Go into my Bad Cat’s fx loop return puts as big a smile on my face as any of the above amps.
Maybe I just got lucky and the Bad Cat just happens to “like” the Pod Go and it’s a great combination just by chance? Eventually I’ll pull out other amps to find out. I also think it’s important to mention that in my experience it doesn’t sound good into the front of an amp which makes sense given that you’re putting a modeled preamp into a real preamp in this scenario.
Modeling has really come of age IMHO. If you’re tired of lugging a big rig around and you’re intrigued by modeling but don’t like the FRFR experience you should consider this kind of setup. You may be very surprised. Oh yeah, the day after I bought this I got an email from Fractal as I'd been on their waiting list for the past 6 months for a FM3. With all the confidence that I was making the right choice and zero regret to date, I told them I was going to pass. YMMV
Agreed with everything here, except that there's something nice about a modern digital FRFR stereo rig. It's not your grandpa's fender clean tones, but it's great also.
I have now put my pod go into a blackstar HT5 home practice amp and it sounds great, plugged it into a big 2x12 powered cab, and it sounds great, and put it into a Fender Twin 100w tube amp and it sounds great.
I have tried a pair of headrush FRFR powered speakers with the Helix LT at a store, and was blown away with that too, but haven't dropped the coin on FRFRs. The thing is that one FRFR is not enough. Whatever it is we've lost from the guitar cabs, comes back in a big way when you have a panned stereo image and a pair of speakers sending sound into your room.
The feeling of sound washing over you can come from a big cab, or it can come from a pair of PA speakers or FRs. Yes. It can. Not if you don't have a pair of good wedges pointing at you and only have whatever is on the PA poles. But speakers are speakers, believe it or not. Listening Position is a lot to do with a guitarists experience of sound.
I want to ask have you tried the Line 6's Powercab by any chance?
If you have, how did you or how do you like it?
If you haven't, it basically emulates the frequency responses of different speakers without the microphone coloring in the equation. So it models real guitar cabinet without the mic.
But you can also use it as an floor FRFR monitor if you'd like.
So I'm really curious to hear your input on it.
Thank you.
@@WarrenPostma What the heck is FRFR?
@@spacep0d Full Range Flat Response powered speaker cabinet, meant for use with modellers like Kemper, Helix, Headrush, NeuralDSP, and such.
It's frankly, a marketing term, meant to make it normal for guitarists to plug into a PA system directly. Since it's basically a PA speaker.
It's a powered monitor (speaker).
@@WarrenPostma Thank you!
Love the Übershall preset. You got one sold ! 🙂
22:08 that's a wall of sound if I ever heard one
Would’ve been cool if the POD Go could communicate electronically with the HX Stomp, so that a Go preset/snapshot would change modules and settings on the HX.
PodGo is impressive. What a wonderful tool
Good player to represent the unit good stuff. Pitty no one on RUclips doing the same for the rest of the gear
That Pacifica is gorgeous
I just got this, and I freaking love it.
Curious , I can't tell if it has two stereo out for two amps? Although it looks like it has it.
Lucky !
I need this in my life.
Uff that solo in the end was great
New players have got it made nowadays, and I love that. These products are spectacular, inexpensive, but definitely not cheap. I have a Helix, so wouldn't pick one of these up, but when it comes time to buy the grandkids some pedals, you'd better believe I'll be looking at this type of thing.
Lee plays the kind of music I like to play and so hard to find on youtube. Usually it's a lot of high gain stuff with loud backing music and you can't hear if the thing is fizzy or not.
I am not a heavy-rock sounds guy, and I used a PodXTlive for years, until it started cracking up. Now I really want a PODgo. I'm currently using a large traditional pedal-board but I miss the simple instant presets from I had with the Pod.
I've got an HX Stomp, which I've used live to great success. But I like an all-in-one solution, so I ordered a Pod Go--should be here tomorrow.
Hi! So how did you like the Go in comparison to the stomp? Cheers
@@esticaandres3169 Haven't used it live because of Covid restrictions, but I find it much easier to use so far. And the sounds are the same.
Next time in England I will visit Andertons. Can't promise to by very much, maybe some plektrums. But would love to visit. So let's see.
I got to hand it to them the user interface is the simplest and most straight forward to understand they have ever created.
I agree, it pretty good for line 6. But I suggest you take a look at the Headrush pedal board and gig board, they have 7 inch touch screen and it's super easy to work with and totally easy to use without the manual, infact I've never used the manual but I suppose there's something in the book that will help me one day but this thing is so ready and easy to use.
Your amp shootout has been the best shootout on RUclips. Many new amps have been released...can we get other amp shootout... love from India🇮🇳
Glad you have been enjoying our videos... Thanks for tuning in! 🤘
Captin you sound great 🎸👍😎
20:50 that was trippy
21:50 Lee does a high gain metal face
Thanks. Richard
Hmmmm..... Fender, Vox and Plexi are the first 3 presets. It's as if somebody at Yamaha/Line 6 has been listening to what old school players like me find useful! Very similar to what compelled me to buy the Yamaha THR 10C. And, the ease of use on this POD Go appears top notch... very much geared toward folks like me who prefer to tweak EQ, etc. globally with knobs, spending little time tweaking parameters to death, and get down to playing. Looks brilliant, and tempting!
14:30 can confirm, I am in fact a heavy guy
Great demo, guys! I had no idea this supported a bass guitar too. Is there a good way to share this with a bass and electric guitar without changing the instrument cable? Maybe it's a stupid question but I'm curious. Thanks!
Hi Captain, I'm an Englishman living in Melbourne, Australia. Love your show very much, I say, "Your the Top Gear equivalent of the music world!" Anyway, I know your not so much into acoustic guitars, but you have a 'High Roller' room in at Andertons' Music Store. You know, where Gibson, Martin & Taylor reside. It seems such a shame that you don't stock a guitar brand in there that many around the world consider to be better than those! I'm talking about Maton of course. Made in Box Hill (a Melbourne suburb). Any half decent musician here will probably more than not, be playing one, because they are held in such high regard. Of course Tommy E. plays one too! My request therefore, is that you please make some attempt to stock these guitars and show that England's colony down south has the goods to cut it anywhere in the world. Also, an episode (blindfold) where you get some of the top rank acoustic guitars are measured, with Maton being present! PLEASE! lol.
Also, these guitars are constructed mainly from Aussie native woods, something quite unique!
p.s. An Aussie mate of mine was in London late 2019, he made a special day trip to Guildford to see your store. He bought me an Andertons T-shirt. Great stuff. I wear it down here for you!!!!
Guitar village in Farnham stocks Matons and that's not far (Well bout 15 miles) from Andertons I bought my Tommy Emmanuel sig there ....and Yeah it's an amazing guitar..and Tommy is a legend, seen him play and met him quite a few times 👍✌
Paul has good taste in interior design
Yamaha really needs to make some production Pacifica models like that one!
I am going to paint my pacifica grey and make a brass pickguard.
I agree, I want to see high end japanese made pacificas. Killer guitars. Yamaha should compete with Ibanez AZ series, which are fantastic. But Pacificas have a solid pedigree
My Helix rack and floor control, Variax guitar and HX stomp give me way more flexibility than I really need.
I am thinking of selling the rack and just keep the HX stomp.
After going through the Pod era as well as Digitech, Eleven rack, ADA, TC Electronic, I decided on just the Line 6 route.
Line 6 (Yamaha) make some cool gear and so easy to program your custom setup.
1 year later, what is your favorite line 6 product?
Sounds great, definitely thinking about getting one. But I wonder, doesnt this kind of replace the helix stomp?
It can, but if you have other pedals you like a lot (like a Big Sky), the stomp is a great size for a pedal board.
HOLYYYY SHIT that guy really knows how to play amazing
That man can play!
Yaaaaaas, paul!!!!!!!!!
Does everyone remember when line 6 was associated with terrible gear? The last few years they’ve been knocking out some seriously decent stuff
The Yamaha era of line 6 is what made a difference.
Not really, some stuff, yes. Remember a guitar player named Slash? He was rocking with line 6 all the concerts about 15 years ago...
I do, had a spider 15watt amp, pure garbage.. but it was cheap so hey, now line 6 doesn't even have cheap stuff no more. and TBF to them as a company even back then when their gear was garbage it was only because they were doing and trying things no one else was
Public perception is a funny thing. On the internet, people loved to shit all over Line 6. For me personally, my first guitar amp was a Spider 3 30 watt, and I loved the fuck out of that. You know why? I could chug like a bastard at low volume and it always delivered. For an 80s thrash metal fan, learning guitar on that amp was a joy for me. To each his own.
When do you think you'll be able to get back into the same room, if necessary with a whacking great perspex screen between the presenters?
The Helix is great! So is the Katana(and others), but I simply like being able to change my pedalboard around to my liking, the simplicity of individual pedals, and even the torture of figuring which cable has gone bad. Honestly, if you use quality cables, that’s not even an issue. IDK. To each their own, but this old man just can’t do it. Especially, with amps like Victory or Revv. The weight issue goes right out the window. Rock on, Gentlemen
Understood ... but there's also the "doing a gig in a venue with almost zero floor space" issue.
Can you do a Pod Go bass review?
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
Hey, what guitar model is Paul using,? Thought it was a Pacifica but can't see anything else like it on line... keep up the good work, ... popping in soon.
Great video as always.
QUESTION: Is the Pod Go good for recording directly into a DAW? I am
looking for something that sound's really great with many amp sounds for
recording. I would trust your input (no pun intended!).....Thanks.
Philip
NYC Area
Sounds killer, I must say...
That Pacifica though !
What Pacifica is that?
One of you should have used an LP type instead of two Strat types, but still, good review and walkthrough.
I need that reverse stock Yamaha in my life.
what model is it?
@@ctothegiles my thoughts exactly? First thing I noticed before I looked at the POD. Is this a custom Paul? Certainly looks pretty mint.
@@lilsponge777 Yes, it is a custom made one for him. Generally speaking, us normal people can't get custom Pacificas
I have been very happy with my Headrush pedal board and the sounds it makes plus the tools onboard the kit but I'm curious now how the pod go stands up to the biggest Headrush pedal board, any people out there compare care to elaborate on the pros and cons !??!
so can you effectively assign the four ABCD buttons to turn on and off effects like a classic pedal ? Is that effectively what stomp mode is ? ( seems like a noob question but I'm potentially looking to swap out my large massive pedal board for something compact like this for doing small bar gigs)
Yes. You can switch 4 to 6 different effects on/off in the stomp mode with ABCD (as well as up and down buttons can become effect buttons).
That way you can have 6 stompboxes, + 1 tap tempo/tuner + 1 mode switch button.
I switched from a pedaltrain 3 setup. Said goodbye to my noise suppressor, power supply, tuner, and copious amounts of cable all over. The best part is the board itself is gone.
Pod go weights a little less than a laptop and has a handle on it.
Every time I hear Paul demo these Line 6 products, I’m like, “shut up and take my money!” Haha. Now I have to decide if I want this or the HX Stomp. The LT would be nice but for a hobbyist guitarist, I can’t justify paying for it.
Which one did you end up getting ? Are you happy with it ? (I'm in the same boat) ;)
Awesome. I was going to buy the Helix Lt which would have been overkill for me . This product is exactly what I need and will save me some money
Glad our video helped with your choice... Thanks for commenting & enjoy your new gear! 😉
Helix .50. I have a POD Go and its a huge improvement over the HD. There are many pro quality IRs and Patches available. I prefer to pay $10 and get a pro quality patch and spend my time playing so this unit suits me well.
Correct regarding stomp mode
I can't help but laugh literally every time I hear that little lick Lee!
Well, thank you
I just got a yamaha thr30ii, i just want the effects, would this be adequate to use with the practice amp ? I only really want to get nice swells, so auto volume, complex reverb, delay
Will it get updates of new amps and effects like the Helix/Stomps?
