    Let's take a close look at the differences between the new Pod GO and the HX Stomp from Line 6 - which one makes sense for your rig?
    Pod GO: imp.i114863.net/Y7V0e
    HX Stomp: imp.i114863.net/x4L71
    Note: Something I forgot to mention is that in addition to Tone Sovereign, Clawthorn Drive, and Cosmos Echo, POD Go also doesn’t have the 3 Osc Synth (because POD Go only supports mono Pitch/Synth blocks and that one is only stereo) and the Legendary Drive from 2.90 (which wasn’t out when POD Go was first announced). Also, it turns out the Weeper wah is a Cry Baby, not the Ibanez Weeping Demon. Whoopsies!

    --- [1] I have a Helix LT. Compared to a real tube amp & cab, the LT has everything on earth, is small & light, & is cheap. I love it. --- [2] I recently got a PodGo. It doesn't have everything on earth, but it has enough. It is smaller, lighter, & cheaper than my wonderful LT. I love the PodGo, also. --- [3] I've played guitar since 1964 & the Beatles. I've carried enough heavy, large, & pain-in-the-back amps cabs. I don't want back surgeries. With the Helix LT & PodGo, I'm in guitar heaven. I just wish that this type of technology was available 50 years. ago. Big boys, big toys. Richard :)

      What’s the difference in sound between the two?

    • @rayraymond2952
      @rayraymond2952 3 года назад +5

      @@jonathantom8425 --- [1] The LT & the PGo have the same algorithms, but only in different visual forms. As long as you use the same blocks/effect/etc with the same values on each unit, they sound the same. You can't exchange/load effect chains between the units. However, if you were to edit each unit's effect's/block's values so that they are the same on each unit (LT or PGo), the units will sound the same. --- [2] You really don't need to have heavy amps & cabinets. All you need is one of the good quality guitar modelers (the Helix & PodGo are very good) & a decent FRFR speaker, & you are set to go. --- [3] I have a Headrush FRFR-108 ($200/$220, a mere 20 pounds). It is sufficient enough, light enough, & inexpensive enough. Good luck. Richard

      The helix LT is CHEAP? Jesus, you must have a looooooot of money

    • @rayraymond2952
      @rayraymond2952 3 года назад +3

      @@enriquerivas7292 The Helix LT is actually quite cheap when compared to the total cost of all of the amps, cabinets, effects, etc. which are in the Helix LT/Floor. A few years ago, I paid $864 for my LT in 2019. That is not a bad price for what an LT contains. Also, the LT is way, way lighter than carrying around all of those amps, cabinets, effects, etc. :)

    I 'downgraded' from the HX Stomp to the POD GO a couple weeks ago. *Best decision* ! Unless you're A) doing mostly studio/session work, or B) gigging with an existing pedalboard, there is absolutely NO reason you shouldn't save the $150 USD and grab the POD Go.
    I'm in love with this thing; it's a streamlined, layman's Helix. This is bar-none the best multi-FX/modeling floorboard for the money. Similar game-changer to what the Digitech RP500 was ten years ago. Looking forward to many years of gigging/recording/teaching with this thing!

    Thanks for the detailed review/comparison. Been using Helix LT for a few years, but the gaps between patches made me gravitate elsewhere (yes I know about snapshots, doesn't work for my tone flow). It did not bother me so much as it did the FOH sound guys, who show after show said it was extremely noticeable over the mains... I digress. I just tried and sent back a Headrush Mx5, but did not care for the overall sound/feel. So now I'm looking again. .. and your comparison saved me HOURS of research. Thanks!

I got one (Pod Go) coming next week. Had an HD500X for years but got a Boss MS-3 to replace it seeing it has those loops for pedals. Needed that for live but missed the Line 6 stuff but couldn't justify getting another HD500Xx due to the price not dropping much and the size and space it takes up. Then ran across some videos of the Pod Go and just had to grab one 😁

    I finally got my Pod Go the other day. I am really impressed with it. For a guitar player that just wants good sounds with a fairly easy interface for under $500, I don’t think you can go wrong. Only thing I will say is updating the firmware can go horribly wrong. Something happened with mine on the firmware update and wiped everything on the Go. I finally got all the drivers back on and updated it and it works perfectly. So just be careful. Other than that I love it. I don’t care about it not having a midi out or being able to run to cabs at the same time. All in all it’s more than enough for me and I dig it.

    I have watched this video at least twice. I am now really convinced the POD Go is what I need. I guess, the “fear of missing out” made me consider the HX Stomp, even the LT, but that would undoubtedly be an overkill (especially the LT) in my case. This video reminded me the reasons I want this: a portable, all in one solution with great sounds! That’s it! If I really want to save more blocks, I could simply connect my external delay/reverb pedal in the effects loop. So thank you for that great video!

      Ease your FOMO. I had the Helix Floor and traded it in. If you're just using this for playing and don't need signal splitting & increased processing, the Pod Go is more than capable. Connected to a wireless, all i will have to do is put the dongle in the axe I want to play and choose the bank I want. Also currently I have a Trace Elliot Transit B on the bass that can go away too. Dude, A++ Review! Still relevant in 2022 I might add. I've been mic'ing my amp for years. I'm ready to buy one of these 2 units to run direct to FOH. Probably the HX Stomp XL. But I have a question. I am in a Madonna trib in Dallas. If you listen to the Lucky Star, that's a clean Strat direct to recording console tone (no cab). Lot's of her material has this percussive clean Strat direct to console vibe to it. But many of these songs have lead solo breaks... and that means I'll need a PRESET+SNAPSHOT that switches between CabSim OFF (for clean) to CabSim ON (for distorted lead solos). Is this possible with 2 units? Thanks

    I have both a Stomp and recently purchased a Pod Go mostly for the on board expression pedal…. The amp output on the Pod Go needs to be updated with a option to send from “before” the modelling amp. As a result of the limitation I now have to use the effects send with a ABY to send to my tube amps’ pre if I also want to send a DI to PA, recording etc. I initially expected there to be a bit of flexibility like the blocks of the Stomp but was let down:(
    I like both units for different reasons but if the Pod Go would add a third option for “amp out” it would definitely be better suited for my intentions. Another thing I can’t do is create two separate mono send blocks for utilizing two separate loops of pedals. The stomp is much better for flexibility hands down.
    The idea of using the modelling amps/pre through the return of a tube amp is not the option I was hoping for. Especially with my fender amps with no effects loop.
    When the next generation Helix arrives I will probably upgrade for true flexibility!
    I wish I would have researched more…. Pod go is still pretty amazing at it’s price point.
    Thanks

If i wanted to use as an example a jc800 amp head instead of the modler jc800 amp would i be able to obtain the same tones i.e, apples to apples tones or is the complete package (best) sound to the pod that i have to use amp models together with effects and not just use effects? To get the killer tones I would need this for live setting. Does it have amp switching as well. Thanks you for your respone

    PodGo looks like all I need. I have a katana II head into a Traynor 212 cabinet. I could go into power amp and play live gigs. I can also use katana but pod go has pedal and I like the layout

    Can you make a Head to Head comparison of Zoom G5n vs Line Helix POD Go?

    it's worth mentioning how well they hook to one another. maybe that's another complete video by itself.

      I think the HX Effects is a better compliment to the Stomp

    Thanks for this video which saved me wasting money on either of these units as they have no Variax input, As an acoustic player who uses my JTV59 as an acoustic to perform sets where I play in many different tunings throughout the set, I was hoping one of these units was the solution. I wish Line6 made a compact Variax version for us acoustic players that need a better solution for switching settings than "remembering" where the hell we stored that C modal tuning capoed at the third fret for the J-200 acoustic emulation-be nice to store it on, and access it, via stomp buttons on a compact pedal with scribble strips so we KNOW we have the right patch! Be nice if Line6 would make us acoustic players a compact pedal like the HX Stomp where button 1 scrolled through the five acoustic guitar models. Button 2 scrolled through tunings and button 3 scrolled through capo settings (none, 1st fret, 2nd fret, etc.). So simple. Maybe a 4th button to scroll through the combination of whatever effects patches we program in and want to choose to overlay on whatever we choose with the first 3 stomp buttons. Keep up the good work!

    Hoping someone might be able to answer this question for me. I'm a relative noob. Have been playing for ~2 years. I a tech guy professionally and really have my eye on the Line 6 Spider V 240 HC. I love the features, the fact that it can be used as a practice amp at home, and I can add a cab in the future if I ever end up needing something for a performance. However, I also have my eye on the POD GO mostly because of the footswitch functionality. It seems to me that having both would be duplicating functionality or that the two may not even be compatible. I'm starting to get requests to play for my church and want to purchase a good combo with all the modeling capabilities, but also on stage functionality.
    So my question is, do I buy both? Or am I better off buying the POD GO and just hooking it up to a more standard (and easier on the wallet) amp or cabinet? Purchasing both is within my budget as I'm looking at spending $800-$1000, just want to make sure I'm not wasting money buying two products that do the same thing when I could have accomplished the same for a lot less.

    If I wanted a pod go my usual set up is a noise gate a boost an amp. For lead a wah a gate a boost an amp delay chorus verb. Can a pod go do that in a preset?

      Jimmy Blimps No it doesn’t. In the controller section you just assign the expression pedal to control a certain parameter.

    Amazing video. QUESTION: How did you go to FOH with the HX Stomp? Did you take the output of the HXSTOMP into a DI Box that then went into the FOH?

    • @richardgordon6559
      @richardgordon6559 4 года назад +2

      The outputs on the XH Stomp are balanced, use a TRS to XLR cable to go straight to FOH

    If I literally want this for a few of the amps that the hd500x doesn't have. And only going to use one only the boosts and gates, is it worth it or should I just keep using my hd500x? I turn the cab sim off and use a real cab. Just to jam.

    Great video. Thanks! My question is about the POD Go and its Amp Out feature. Can I do the following: a default chain, but with the cab IR in the very last slot? So that the whole chain including the cab IR goes to FOH, and at the same time the entire chain minus the cab IR to Amp Out. The reason why I’m asking is because I have an old Atomic Amps 2x12 ported cab with a 50 W tube power amp, which doesn’t have any controls on it except volume. It makes sense to use that for band practice and stage monitoring and feel, but then forego the whole cab miking thing - it’s redundant, given that you can give the sound guy the direct output from the POD.

  • @iNtimidate770

    can you go directly from the pod go to PA AND having in ear monitors from the POD?

    Hi, which is the number of blocks I could really use/change? I mean , taking out the wah+expression+amp+cab and eq? Thanks
