Personally, I'd be more game for the How'd I Do bit to lead into CCCool for the second batch of Patrons. After all, CCCool and How'd I Do have a lot in common, and could potentially lead into one-another if arranged just right.
This has probably already been said, but to get Hrot to look like that the dev coded his own game engine in Pascal just for the texture warp. That brings us to a whole new level of Slav Jank

An game engine written in Pascal, now that's i call niche. I loved pascal when i started to learn programming and still like to code small projects with it.
That's dedication to an aesthetic. Someone deliberately shooting for a high level of jank, and I salute it.
I played the demo last weekend after watching this. It certainly has potential.
Fun fact: the first Unreal was slated to feature a quad shotgun until it was replaced by the flak cannon later in development. The world just wasn't ready yet in 1998.

I'm surprised someone hasn't put what looks like the start of a sewer level in, only to have it be a little cut-scene or something, then the next actual level is just after the sewer.

If you want 20 different guys doing their own thing, it's up to the developers of the games you want to support. Because if you mean to tell you would enjoy Prodeus more if it had a different composer...I don't know what else to tell you, buy a different game or turn the music of the game off and use your own playlist.

Out of all games shown in the video, HROT is easily my favourite - the atmosphere, shitty weapon sound effects, butter-smooth controls, real-life inspiration and commitment to the art style all just instantly clicked with me. I love it.
Man these games all look so good, aaaa it's unreal how stylizing your game can give it so much personality.

@@ammagon4519 I was born in 94' so I can't tell for sure :D But I think the author mainly wanted to approximate 1) the extreme nuclear war fearmongering, which school children were apparently force fed at that time, and 2) a lot of older architecture falling into disrepair, creating a gloomy decrepit atmosphere.
(The period also had extremely shitty popculture, but I don't believe that had any influence here).

Glad to see a shoutout to my boy Awesreek's game, Viscerafest. He does pretty much everything (apart from sound design) himself: pixel art, level design, gameplay, even the drawings in the intro. Fireplant is the programmer.
Oh BTW, there's also a quad shotty in this game. First I heard about, actually, before all those other games you mentioned came out.
Fun fact: Markie has also been making pretty good custom Quake maps for some time now. His first one was actually a recreation of Viscerafest's first level.

Lionell I didn't think so. I think it suits Durandal's renovations to Boomer. The only problem being that the texture set had to be shared with other pfhor ships due to engine limitations, which Infinity's Pfhor ship texture set fitted better.

Favorite part of the video was a brief moment when he was showing Viscerafest and right as he runs up to a common enemy you hear it say, "UH OH" right before it gets gibbed into a thousand pieces. I don't know why but that just killed me.

@@jeremyabbott4537 8 barrels, can be dual wielded( like all guns, and that also gives regenerating ammo for it) can be upgraded with a magazine that holds enough shells for 3 quick blasts, and can be possessed by a spirit that sounds like a NOD cyborg from C&C so it will just fire on its own while you hunt for secrets.

Was wondering when you were going to do Project Warlock. Kinda surprised you didn't mention the couple of nods to Blood in it, though, knowing what a fan you are of that game.
Horse gas masks were a very important concept in history. In the first world war, poison gas killed people, but it also killed horses, which was the primary way things were moved around, aside from trains. With no horses, you couldn't move around small artillery pieces and other things of that nature. The solution: gas masks for horses. Go look up pictures of them. In world war II, poison gas was never used ( in Europe). One of the big reasons that have been theorized for why this was, was because Germany and Russia were still reliant on Horses for moving things around. Gas was illegal for signatories of the Geneva Convention. Germany and Russia didn't sign the Geneva Convention, but they still never resorted to using gas. If they used poison gas, it would mean that all the reserves of poison gas would get spammed everywhere in retaliation. A bit like the mutually assured destruction concept of the cold war. The chief concern of using gas wasn't the implication of having gas dropped on your home cities by bombers. That would really suck in the long term, but what would suck even more than that in the short term, would be if all the horses you used everywhere could be instantly killed by gas because you didn't have enough horse gas masks in reserve. The fronts in WWII were much more mobile than in WWI, you couldn't pool your stockpiles of horse gas masks in depots close to the front the same way you could in the first world war. And, despite 20 years of technological development, everyone (apart from the United States) still heavily relied on horses for transportation. So, for that reason, no one wanted to grind the whole war to halt by being the first one to use poison gas. All because of horse gas masks.

Damn, Project Warlock is gorgeous. In a time when pixel art has become old hat, it's nice to see that there are games that use the style well while staying unique.
time to dunk on you with unnecessary pedantry - i wouldn't really call it pixel art, it's just hand-drawn art in a low resolution. it's _pixellated_, sure, but the use of freehand line work to describe form and structure isn't usually how pixel art is created.

Also, at some point Prodeus is going to have multiplayer, which user made maps, and I just cannot imagine the brutality of that game, with user made maps, in multiplayer. That is going to be absolutely insane.

@@expendableround6186 Right? It's almost a prerequisite of his (probable) release. At this point, to not play and release TNT is basically an admission of guilt in assisting "Uncle" Frank in continually evading the authorities.
Nightmare Reaper looks really visually busy, it's a tad overhwelming. Maybe it's the smattering of a wide colour palette though.
If it helps, you can fine tune the filters ingame to mute it a little. Or make it more garish. Or go full clown vomit and candy blood.
Both are actually in the game.
I suffer from issues of getting overwhelmed by visual or audio stimuli and Nightmare Reaper is actually the worst offender in this department. I think there is something with the UE4 effects going on, lighting, blurring, bloom etc... that just makes it seem all too much. Even the chaos of Doom Eternal was not so visually offensive.
If there were options to turn off all the fancy crap and have it as what would be software rendered lighting maybe it would be ok. Colour schemes may need a little bit of a change also.
It looks like that but when playing, I lose focus on the visual effects and focus more on killing enemies
The weakest on this list I felt mostly owing to its art and presentation.
I feel the same way about Prodeus. Civvie says it strikes a careful balance between chaotic particle effects and readability, but on RUclips, watching someone else play, it just looks like clown diarrhea.
