  • One of my favorite Hawaiian songs, written by Rev. Dennis Kamakahi. Mahalo to Diane for videotaping this song at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. I'm playing an Ana'ole ukulele with sound holes in the shape of the Hawaiian islands, built by Gareth Yahiku.
    Please visit Diane's website:

The first time I heard this song on the radio, I didn't know the title or the performer, so I couldn't buy it. But the melody stayed with me for years, and finally I hummed the melody to my friend, who identified the song for me!

A beautiful job on one of the most beautiful and poetic mele ever written. This is the song that truly inspired me to appreciate the exquisite poetry of Hawaiian mele.
    Me ke aloha,
    Wanda

I've always been a fan "unplugged" videos without lots of audio processing and this was a good one. nice video composition with smooth pans to show off the natural beauty of the place. Thanks for uploading!

I swear...same music mind! I have this in my short stack to learn. LOL I played it when I was in SoCal visiting last week and went to my auntie's uke circle, Moonlight Beach Strummers in Oceanside. Good fun! I have always liked this song but never knew the name. Aunty gave me the music to it. :) Great job John!
