Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!
The contents and opinions displayed on this channel are my opinions and do not represent the opinions of John Deere and Deere and Company
I remember being stationed in France in 1964. There i seen a 6 bottom switch plow. Took a while for this city raised man to figure out how it worked. Been interested ever since. Now, hooked on HFF, and others, I may one day be able to say...I is a farmer.....sorta. At 76, not so sure, maybe honorary, like coll. deg..
The shirt you are wearing reminds me of Early 90's 4-H club shirts, I think that's why I like that shirt, hoping you get more in stock of that shirt next year.
Great video, Ron!
We will see, we might do another run next year
@@HartungFamilyFarms Yeah the shirts and logos are simple and I like that, I hope you do another run next year.
Nice job lifting over potential erosion areas with the ripper.
Drone work 🎯.
Thanks! And oh yeah, definitely need to do that
Good vid Ron we are putting cages out for crawfish and doing a lot of dirt work down here
That’s awesome!
Its satisfying watching that ripper
It really is
Living out west my whole life I can't even imagine hunting deer with a shotgun. Where I grew up in Oregon one rich family hunted with shotgun slugs and the slugs they used had riflings on the slugs. I heard a lot from them how much of a circle the slugs made in the air. I have shot slugs in my 12ga and they were fairly accurate. Nothing like a .270 OR .06 but OK in brush.
Great Video Ron
Man that ripper does a good job.
In central Alberta we let the frost do the ripping. Not much topsoil here.
Ya'll must have alot tougher ground in Iowa than what we do here in Central Louisiana. There are a couple farms here who run 8 shank case ih 2500 rippers with lister plows for building beds mounted to them. One guy uses a jd 8235r on his and the other either his 235 or 290 magnum and they seem to pull them without struggling much if any. But we don't have any hills over here though, everything is flat.
Good video Ron
On our 340 you can engage the autosteer on the throttle
You are right.
That tractor has really bad lighting.
You would need some light ramps.
great video, what is the purpose of leaving the gaps when ripping?
It sounds like fireworks
Love the videos keep it up
You can get a rolling basket with those rippers
We have a John Deere 8335r on a 5 shank Unverferth and it I’ll bring that things to its knees some times
What's really funny about a diesel that smokes when it starts,
is there something I have misunderstood?
Liked and subscribe btw how much acres you farm in total and do you see youre self in the future fulltime farming on the family farm, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Hey Ron did you guys buy the 340 and if you did can you make a video about it
No, we still have one more year on the lease for it
👍👍
Whats wrong with the blue pete
Hasn’t been taken care of or ran for a while, needs some TLC
Just answered my question
Haha I do my best to try and do that
Personally I think using those rippers are a waste of time up here we mole board plow all our ground corn and bean ground that all we have ever done and we have no issues. We run two 580 quad tracks with two caseih 12 bottom automatic reset plows.
That's crazy, I don't think i've ever seen a plow run before, what area of the country is that?
Southern minnesota
Magnum 340. Peak power at 1800 rpms. Torque rise of 44% for peak torque at 1400 rpms. Let her eat.
Haha and she will be eating in the next video! I thought I was going to kill it in spots
first again
Why are you lifting and leaving the spot in the field
@14:31 Tillage is not done where the water drains off of the field. Flowing water would wash away any loose dirt.
Doesn’t sound right when you say “I’m getting probed”. Just doesn’t seem right. Lol
What's the deal with you always bringing the Ipad to Pat in the combine every day you are at the farm, why doesn't he have it to start with, and most important why does he even need it ?
I'll try and explain why he needs it at some point but it is a data visualization software. And he doesn't have it all the time because we use that same iPad for feeding cattle as well
