Just want to tell you that I was on RUclips for 10 minutes and couldn't find one person just2 spit it out and say what you did small is usually the negative..BTW ur the man
Thanks for the help, 1st of all, with this Awesome video! I must admit that I have never been taught this before, and even after searching over the years (through many years) to finally have an answer to this question ⁉️ You helped me with this thing that has been something that I have always wanted to know and have an answer to. Again huge thank you, seriously!😊
Thank you for making this video. I have a great set of 6X9's from a Chrysler 200. There were no + or - on the speaker connections. I did exactly what you showed. I took the 9volt battery out of my smoke detector and used it. Just like that, I figured out what was the positive and negative side. THANK YOU what a great trick I will use for the rest of my life!!! Oh yeah, I put the battery back in the smoke detector.
Thank you both. I was about to go to Home Depot and get a 9 volt battery and read this comment. You both are genius caliber . . ., now I’m off to the smoke detector, lol 😂
I'm actually down a youtube rabbit hole on how to service osciliscopes, but this looked interesting so i clicked. This is a valid way of testing. Just a warning, 9v is okey for larger drivers like this, but smaller would need lower voltage. Also try and keep it only connected for a short time. Sub second. ie just rub the wire over the contact. those coils are made up of super thin wire and can burn really quick. That said, I have yet to find a driver where negative is not on the left. Seems to be universal - left, + right with the connectors pointing to you.
How did you determine which wire of the car or deck is going to attach to positive and which to negative terminal of speaker since you said both are gold wires probably not marked as to which is which.
You can always hold any speaker in the world with the magnet up the air and the cone toward the ground face the wire terminals towards your chest the right side terminal is always positive
that's all very well but that does not identify or inform me which of the wires coming from the stereo, which are in the door, are positive and negative, which no one on You Tube seems to know. Thanks.
this made a lot more sence before you zoomed in and now we dont know what yall doing but its a neat trick i get the idea. my issue is i know which teminal is positive which is negative, but i dont know which speaker wire is positive or negative?
So, I've heard it's better to use a double AA because anything over 1.5 volts could blow the coil. I'm assuming this would apply to cheap or old paper cone speakers but have you tried something smaller than a 9 volt?
Hey man just fixed my 05 accord. Got the radio replaced and put new speakers in. It still sounds clipper and distorted at higher volume. What do you think the problem os?
Usually if you can see the cone on the back you can see if the polarity is right if the cone pushes out and if its wrong it sucks the cone towards the magnet
Thanx for the HELP! I ASSume that it is WAY too much trouble for the IDIOT manufacturers to actually LABEL at least one of the speaker terminals?!? BTW, one terminal is obviously BIGGER (wider) than the other. That is probably the POSITIVE one, right? I'll DO the test now.
Of course I had a 50/50 chance of being right, but was WRONG! The BIGGER terminal is NEGATIVE on my mid-woofer! I did the battery test and LABELLED the positive with a RED Sharpie. I also had to put a wider connector on the negative wires. On the 'positive' side, I din lol punch a hole thru the woofer with the screwdriver, like I've done before in 1972 installing 6" woofers in my 1959 Pontiac door panels! (=

And no 5 minute rock spectacular intro.... perfect!
Exactly the same, answered my question in the first 30 seconds. You’re a good Man! Lol. seriously tho thanks😉

Excellent! Thank you so much
Great video! very informative and helpful!
thanks for watching
Thanks for the information and demo -- appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
You D man! small is negative that's all I needed buddy save my life and less than one minute🙏
Glad it helped
Perfect, Thanks ‼
Thanks for the simple to follow video
Thanks for watching have a good rest of the day

Perfect! I can now test my civic speaker to see which door wires are pos and neg! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Cool
Thank you so much Sir.
It was indeed great help in a short amount of time.!!
Glad it helped
Awesome, simple. You da man!
Glad it helped!
Thanks, just what I was looking for. Got second hand speakers for an old car and trying to make something from nothing.
Glad it helped have a good weekend
Wow really important video friend thank you very much
thanks for watching
Fantastic! Thank you so much :)
Your welcome
Great video straight to the point 👉
Thanks
Thamk you, this was very helpful.
You're welcome!
Perfect, thanks for getting right to it!
Glad to help!
What about tweeters ? Sorry to be a pain but I used Electrolytic capacitors in serious to protect my tweeters and does polarity matter ? Thanks .
Thanks. Looking forward to you doing a video on testing speaker ...using a ohms meter. What is a good ohms reading etc. Thanks.
To start with, I learned in electrical school that aN ohm is an English dwelling place! (;
So how will u know the negative and positive sides with a bullet tweeter
Informational 😔 informative 👍
Glad you liked it
How did you determine which wire of the car or deck is going to attach to positive and which to negative terminal of speaker since you said both are gold wires probably not marked as to which is which.
Good stuff brother.... thanx
No problem 👍
Wow, good one Bro!
Glad you like it!
Good stuff!
Thanks for watching, have a good weekend
What if the door wires are not labeled how do you find that out
Wow! Didn’t say Go Ahead and…. at all. You sir are a very unique Yank! My hat comes off to you. And good video, to the point.
Right on
So, can I assume positive is always on the right side? Because if wider terminal is +, they're always on the right side I think
You can always hold any speaker in the world with the magnet up the air and the cone toward the ground face the wire terminals towards your chest the right side terminal is always positive

you need the radio schematics it will tell you by color
You answered my question. The smaller terminal is negative. I bought a replacement speaker and it has two same size terminals
cool
THANK YOU ...
You are welcome!
Excellent
thanks for watching, have a good weekend
Thanks man...
No problem, have a good one
Simple and effective 👍🏼
Thanks
I've been called WORSE! (;
this made a lot more sence before you zoomed in and now we dont know what yall doing but its a neat trick i get the idea. my issue is i know which teminal is positive which is negative, but i dont know which speaker wire is positive or negative?
thats a pain in the butt, probably have to remove the stereo deck to find out??
@@addismultitasking3504 you think it makes a difference in sound quality sounds same to me which was round it is yall
Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching have a good rest of your day
Thank u..
Welcome 😊

Go ahead and try 1.5v and see if it moves. Ive never had a problem with 9v
@@addismultitasking3504 Nope. 9 volt it is. 1.5 volts barely makes a static sound but no movement whatsoever.
We learned something, thanks for watching
I tried on a car speaker and it moves with AA battery. @@addismultitasking3504
Thanks bro
have a good night
Hey man just fixed my 05 accord. Got the radio replaced and put new speakers in. It still sounds clipper and distorted at higher volume. What do you think the problem os?
New radio has built in amplifier? What are the watt rating of each speaker ? You probably need an amp assuming new speakers are upgrades
what if you cant see behind the speker to know what wire goes to what terminal?? can the test still tell which is positive?
Yes if the speaker moves up on your battery Plus Poll is your speaker plus also.
Thinking about trying to wire an led strip around my car speakers so they light up with the car.
you can also get some used kia soul speakers that have it already built in housing
My original terminal is 1 small 1 big. Can I just change the small clip to big clip?
you can
@@addismultitasking3504 Thank you 😊
What if it's a tweeter?
I just ask him that question
I had the same question
How do you do a tweeter that you cannot see and doesn't have a cone
Usually if you can see the cone on the back you can see if the polarity is right if the cone pushes out and if its wrong it sucks the cone towards the magnet
does this work on subs
Yes it should
Thanx for the HELP! I ASSume that it is WAY too much trouble for the IDIOT manufacturers to actually LABEL at least one of the speaker terminals?!? BTW, one terminal is obviously BIGGER (wider) than the other. That is probably the POSITIVE one, right? I'll DO the test now.

how long have speakers been around and you still have to do this macgiver shit to simply plug it in.... Think I will just set them on fire.
Thankyou ❤
You're welcome 😊
They are called crocodile clips, not alligator clips....!
