Once upon a time in ROC you could block with watcher wards. 5 was enough to pin down a unit OR hero. You could literaly troll people with witch doctors. Mass schades did the same thing but were less spamable and vulnerable to air spells.

Yes that was the point of my request. I had called it "Shade Harass" actually because i wanted him to annoy the opponent with them.
In his defense though, Grubby did say it's hard to use shades for preventing enemy construction because they are only available quite late in a game and usually the enemy's base is fully built by the time a shade reaches it.
Oh well, at least the request made it to YT.

I think it would be better to use this kind of harass on an expansion, provided the opponent doesn't expand too fast. I think Grubby did that once, but it was coincidental, as his shade was on the lookout for an expansion anyway. The opponent's poor tree (he was NE) tried to create his way into a forest clearing nearby, possibly because he thought it was some kind of a bug, as it didn't occur to him (at least at first) to use dust.

Shades cannot be used to block like regular units under invisibility. They go past other units, like Blademaster's Wind Walk. Shades can be used to block opponent building construction, however, provided they're well-placed.
