      Wongfu is just amazing, same with all these other hidden talents who just aren't given opportunities into making bigger films. Most of these Hollywood films nowadays have almost no meaning or new idea, We need more people like Wongfu with actual ideas & purpose in their films rather than just marketing techniques to actually steer our film industries.

    • @S_Muljaja
      @S_Muljaja 8 лет назад +4

      I find that the majority of hollywood romance consists of cheap rom coms (though not all are bad, I've heard Ferris Bueller's Day Off is really good) and very few actual dramas that is alike to wong fu (only one I can think off the top of my head is The Notebook, and it's not similar to anything like wong fu at all)

    • @Stephoe18
      @Stephoe18 7 лет назад +4

      Blue Valentine could be similar to wong fu in some ways? But I agree with you, majority of hollywood movies are just cheesy/cliché :/

    ugh THANK YOU. Finally someone said it. My mom has been telling me for years that the thing that makes love work is choice; constantly choosing to love the other person, even when things get difficult. That's why so many marriages end today; people give up on one another because it's easier than choosing to love them despite the flaws. My mom always said that marriage is difficult, there will be moments when you fall out of love and the feelings fade, but if you choose to keep working at it and you choose to remember why you loved the person in the first place, the feelings will come back, and stronger than ever.

      OfTheseDaydreams My mom never really talked about "love" or even really mentioned the word "love" to me although we talk about everything from friendships, relationships to marriage. Strangely, I've never thought of the word "choice" when talking about love. Perhaps there aren't enough people around me who I'm actually comfortable enough to even talk about "love." But I enjoyed the short film as much as I enjoyed reading your thoughts on it. Brings a new light to how I see love now. If ever I do meet someone or start to date someone, I'd keep it in mind. Thanks for sharing :)

      @JoY-zo2yi 9 лет назад +138

      This isn't really new for Phil. He's done a bunch of films in the past that take an introspective look at relationships. Strangers Again, The Last, After Us, to name a few.
      Wes and Phil both make thoughtful, deep films. However, their communication styles are different. It's quite interesting actually, because you can totally see their personalities reflected in their choices. Wes' films take a slower pace, often have a dream-like quality (he himself seems to often be deep in thought/dream), not too dialogue heavy and uses visual moments to paint the story. Whereas Phil tends to craft his films around dialogue, leans toward drama (not calling you a drama-queen!) and captures emotions of a moment to write the story. It's part of why Wong Fu works - each of the members balance one another out to be a super strong team that can craft stories that resonate and move us.

    It's so strange how "I love you" can mean different things not TO different people, but WITH different people. I can easily tell my friends I love them with no hesitance. But I can't say the same words with my family, because with them it's harder to tell how much they love me back or how much more they love me than I do for them. Likewise, I can't express those same words to those I have feelings for. Do three words really sum up how one feels about certain others?

    • @Swordsquire
      @Swordsquire 8 лет назад +5

      You're kind of lucky that way.
      It's pretty much impossible to say, "I love you." to a loose knit, and estranged family.
      It's almost impossible to believe in love when the last person who called you, "The love of their life", made you homeless and marries your (former) best friend, or when you get used as the surrogate emotional boyfriend, but you're the wrong color to be the actual bf.
      I say almost, because there is someone who loves me,. just as much as I love her, but she's still healing from a highly abusive relationship, and I love her enough to wait. She's one of my closest and dearest friends.
      Her's might be the one real love I'll ever know in this life.
      So, love them if you've got them, it's not as common as we'd like to think. : )

    • @Scrofar
      @Scrofar 8 лет назад +2

      I'm sorry to hear that, and I completely relate to the family part. It's an entirely different challenge in itself to say "I love you" to someone who doesn't love you back, or stops loving you in the end.
      But I don't think you have to wait before letting her know how much you love her. In fact, I think if you tell that special someone how much you love them, it'll speed up that recovery so much faster. Just show her how much you care, in bits and pieces or with a big hug. Love her as much and often as you can because it makes a big difference. : )

      Take a look at TED-Ed's "What is love?". To briefly summarize, love is too abstract to define. People will have a different perspective on life, and the the world around you. What you feel what love should be is not necessarily what the next guy thinks. Nor can you claim that one type of love is better than the next, because there is no proper definition of love. When we "define" love, we can only compare it to other aspects in life. For example, one might say "love is all you need". Would that mean love is more important than security? Your health? Your sanity? This is not to say that the current generation of relationships seem to revolve around "lust", and that I personally think it's bad, but you must understand that maybe that's how they view love. Maybe that's what they truly believe what love is worth. I'm not asking you to change your perspective on love, because I think that what you believe in is noble, but I just want you to understand that what you believe in, is something

  • @essennagerry

    Love isn't selfish. I love you is enough before all those things you described. I love you is enough before you think love is about someone magically being your perfect match, causing you never ceasing butterflies, meeting all your emotional needs. It's enough when love isn't about your pursuit of happiness.
    I know I'm picky. I wonder if it's fair, I wouldn't pick myself, I imagine something better. But at least when I choose I'll choose alright... And that will be my final choice. I love you will be enough. No cheating, no sitting through musicals.

    True love looks like this:
    1 Corinthians 13:4-7
    Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

      ** Love is still a choice- (a self- sacrificial one) because humans are inherently sinful and its hard to pour ourselves into committing to someone else. Paul was single, but he still encouraged people to get married if they needed it. However, he said that for him personally, he needed to be single in order to focus on God. If that isn't true commitment of CHOICE, I don't know what is. ; )

    A girl just broke up with me after just 3 weeks. Though the time I spent with her was short or even trivial to some, she took a huge chunk of my heart after she said, "Let's just be friends" to me. I've never been this flustered with any girls before and sadly I was invested in her way too early.
    I genuinely cared and adored this beautiful girl...and now... I'm sitting here. Trying my best to mend things while hopelessly thinking that things might just go back to the way they were.
    This video...makes me think if words WERE enough...

      iankobe Ok. first, i'm really sorry that you're hurting now. I know what it feels like to care so deeply for someone and it's just not reciprocated. But i'm going to try to give you some advice, as i came out of a similar situation not too long ago. (also i'm a stranger on the internet, so why the heck not)
      Take a step back. It's going to hurt like hell and things are going to suck for awhile. Not a lot is going to make sense, but you have to push through that because i promise there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Taking a step back is so important. I know all you might want to do right now is fix things, but remember that you can't make someone love you. You also need to respect that if she says just friends, that's probably all she needs right now. You didn't do anything wrong, she's just not in the best position to be in a relationship right now and it's better she realized that sooner rather than later.
      It might take a few weeks, or months, but you will get over her. I promise you will. and right now you might not want to get over her, but when you take that step back and allow yourself time, you'll see that it was for the best.
      She might change her mind later, but you also might change yours. You have good things in store and great people to meet and i promise it's not the end of the world, even though your insides might feel trampled right now. Just keep your chin up and you'll be fine.

      Damn I've been in the same situation before so I think I know exactly how you are feeling. But after all those years of self recovery, I finally have convinced myself of the fact that hmm maybe what makes that girl so breathtaking is that I actually never have her. I mean hell yeah she still occupies a big part of my heart even purely friends but It doesn't matter anyway. Cheer Man!

    One beautiful example of Wongfu’s magical era. A time of short, deep videos. The ones that left you with that lingering feeling, lost for words. Before the funny skits, series and big ideas. There was silence. There was this. There was awe. And I’ll be forever grateful for videos like this.

    I've been in love ...well still am but I can say its not just words its bettering yourself for you and your partner growing together as one and caring for one another, ultimately the one I love ended it about 5 months ago I still reminisce because of how much he influenced me to become a better version of myself I believe that's why I have a hard time of letting go and moving on, but I can honestly say love comes with the good and the bad both equally helping u grow.

    People have often said that I was married too young (at 19). But when I see films like this, I can't help but feel like I dodged a bullet. I have only loved two guys in my life, my first boyfriend and my husband. My first was a real jerk and devastated my heart. Used and abused. My husband came in later and we became friends. Friendship turned to love. He even came to my prom. We knew we didn't want to be apart although I was planning on going to New Zealand for 6 months, so we got married and headed out there after saving up for his passage. It delayed my plans but it was by far one of the most beautiful experiences we had as husband and wife. We chose us.

      As terrifying as adult relationships are, take solace from the fact that your life will not solely be defined by nor revolve around romantic relationships, regardless of whether they succeed or fail. There is more to life than "finding the one" or "settling down". You can do great things even if you're "alone", and even when you're "alone" you don't necessarily have to be lonely when you have meaningful and supportive relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. Instead of worrying about finding and keeping love, just live life with the intention of experiencing all it has to offer and don't close yourself because you're afraid of getting hurt or doing the wrong thing. We all go through similar life experiences---it's a privilege to feel, so just take it all in. Just live.

    I remember these videos used to incite strong emotions in me a few months back, I loved watching them. I didn't feel a damn thing watching this one. This after realizing that there is no person that can fill the role 'the one' to anyone. For every person you love right now, there are millions of other people that can take their place given the right circumstances. It's not worth the grief to believe that a single person can make us happy, we have to learn to be happy with ourselves.

    when your heart is broken and the word ''i love you'' doesn't mean anything to you anymore, womans have to know when a man's heart is broken you have to work 10 times more harder to build that friendship/relationship strong and be with him all the times and stay with him side by side no matter what happens and then when the time is right you go and tell him how you feel about him. because when a heart is broken he doesn't care anymore and he won't listen to your words because he will think your playing with him and he's going to be angry as hell trust me he will so for all you womans out there if you have a lover that is broken stay by his side always and prove your friendship with him

With my 14 year relationship that includes our past 11 years of marriage, I assert that love truly is a CHOICE. Constantly choosing. • @jessicamixon5654
    @jessicamixon5654 9 лет назад +5

    This is so true! True love is a choice, when your not looking for what you can get out of the other person, but what you can give. Then it is unconditional, if your looking for what you can give, then whatever he or she does cannot change how much you love them...it's unconditional. BUT knowing when and who to love is just as important. Too many people give their hearts away before knowing if the other person is someone who will protect and cherish it.

    This is such a powerful message. This short reminds me of an e- newsletter my therapist wrote about "[JLo mentioning on TV that she is still hopeful that she will find the one someday... but how many more relationships will it take?]" We have a easily disposable culture. A lot of people tend to give up on their romantic relationships when it gets tough, not realizing the next one is going to be just as challenging. Dating apps and sometimes even well-meaning friends perpetuates this idea that there's plenty of fish in the sea but outside of religious institutions, not very many people/ places teach the importance of commitment and stability anymore. It's so refreshing to see positive messages like this on mainstream media. Keep it up Wong Fu.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🏆
