Just as Chris hits the start button and all four engines come alive, all the surrounding neighbors lights dim. "PAAAW! That darn neighbor of ours is running those gosh darn trains again!" 😁 That was a cool run Chris. I only pull about 25 behind my engines.
I use the MTH app too I love it. I’ve had 6 engines in a lash up before, please be careful when doing so the wiring in newer MTH engines is very thin. That’s probably where the smell from the 4000 came from. I could be wrong. Great show!

Ever thought of having a competition "Train Pull" U could hv ur engine pull a sled w moving weight or better yet tethered back to back. On a straight track. Certain guidlines and rules. People will come up w a lot of creative ways for torque application, best traction tire material, weight displacement, etc. Top it off w a nice engine for first prize. Could be a big event. Maybe model train sponsors ?!

Well I just found your page for the first time today (popped up as recommended) and I've fallen in love. My grandfather bought my first train set when I was 4 years old. It was O Scale. He passed away the following year and I feel closest to him when I run that same train even now 25 years later. That being said I made the switch to HO last year just for space reasons alone. Your NS power looks (and sounds) amazing! As a Norfolk, VA resident, I see NS all the time and love them! Subscribed!
In the 50's I would visit my cousin and take my Lionel train set with me. He had a set and we would try to make a long train with his switcher engine in the midle as a pusher. We never could get the engines to go the same direction together. We always had a ball with our trains. I lived near the Santa Fe main line between Bakersfield and Fresno. I'll never forget those big steam engines starting up on the siding after a passenger train went through. They would huff and puff and the drivers would start slipping and run away for a few seconds. You could tell when an engineer was a good throttle man.
Thats awesome! I did something like this for the 4th of July, I did a caboose / cabeese parade. My poor MTH Baldwin pulled all 22 with no problems. Eventually I hooked up 2 williams powered FAs. Worked even better.

Great run like you I'am always pusing the envelope 3 months ago when I posted my video had 45 cars with 2 engines on the front and 1 powered dpu in the middle but since then I have been rebuilding and expanding the layout so its definitely nice to see someone pushing the envelope as well keep up the great work, best regards J.R.Pruett

The tribute engines are awesome. I have the Lionel NS First Responders SD70. My father-in-law is a retired police lieutenant and he loves trains so I thought it was a cool choice. He loves it.
THAT was super cool! I'm sure there is a physics equation that can predict tendency to remain on track being pulled vs tendency to move in the shortest path between the car and the puller, and consequently derail. Very cool. Love your videos Chris.

Ok dude. That was fantastic. The lash up was awesome, the engines were amazing, the sounds and camera were spot on. I agree Chris, I love to see just how many cars I can get an engine to pull. The best view was when the Red Bridge was centered and the engines and cars could be seen from the front, the tunnel etc… Excellent shot. Chris, I don’t know what to think about this…I am always excited to see one of your videos, but I was excited when I saw that you were going to lash that many rolling stock powered by the iconic Norfolk Southern. I love long trains, I get mesmerized by them when I am stopped at a railroad crossing. I was coming home from taking my momma to her best friend’s 80th birthday celebration and I had just made it across the railroad crossing when I saw the Union Pacific coming down the track. As I drove down the country road to town that runs along the tracks…I see a Norfolk Southern lashed up behind the UP and I don’t think I’ve seen a NS since my teens while visiting family in Tennessee. I just thought I would share that with someone. I hope you and your family are doing well and I’ll see you around the bend!
One of my HO gauge gondola cars broke when I was a little kid, but the frame was still intact, so I converted it into a flat car. I strapped on a full set of eight C-size Duracell batteries on top of the flat car, put it at the end of an eight car train, and the CP Rail GP9M and CN F7 I have as engines strained to pull them all. It was cool!

Hello. Rerun this set up with the dummy behind the lead power. Then put the power DPU 2/3rd back. This will help on curves and slack from stopping and starting. If you have grades it also helps in control.

A buddy of mine pulled all 120 cars of his with his vision line big boy by its self including going up 1.2% grade. The big boy was flawless no wheel slip just raw power
Big Boy is a beast of an engine! Had I not already done a few videos with it, I thought of using it for this video. If only I had 120 freight cars... I bet that was a blast pulling that many cars with your friend!
Have you considered running one or more of the powered units in the middle or at the back as a DPU? I've found with my MTH engines that no two engines operate at exactly the same speed even when set to the same scale MPH, so this leads to one engine being taxed more than others. I've solved this by spreading out engines to different points in a lash up where each one has a different amount of weight behind it with the faster engines pulling more cars to slow them down & the slower engines supporting less weight. I'm just concerned with burning out engines with how finicky MTH engines can be & how easily a board can be blown. I always love your smile & enthusiasm when running trains! Perhaps if I had any landscaping on my layout I would do videos too, but I only have 2 loops of track & a couple buildings.
I have run these mid-train and at the end. I ran them up front for this video for better camera angles. I do enjoy moving the lash-up around and putting different engines in different parts of the train. Thanks for watching!

I and my brother used to put our engines equidistant apart and run them to see who would overtake whom. He had a Scout type Lionel steamer; I had a Marx E-7 New Haven diesel. Mine would always overtake his and knock it off the track. He used to get so mad. ;)))))
I wanted to try G gauge but the track cost more than the train lol, looks like I'll stick to HO and N I do have a RC G scale set that I got for free lol. Might try O again though..
Hi I just wanted to say that your Locomotive No.4000 sparked a little on the rear Bogie of the Locomotive as it was crossing the Points near your Kansas City Southern Locomotive hope that wasn't something to Worry about but you should probably have that looked at just incase it isn't the motor.take care.Cheers.Lewis.
Hi Lewis- I believe that is just the lantern LED on the switch flashing through for a quick second. I will keep my eyes on things but looks like we are okay on this one.

Before you know it All of your Adoring Fans Myself Included will be glued to the screen to see what kind of videos you will make for the Holiday Season. I Love your Latest Video I thought it was just Fascinating to watch the 5 Diesels 4 in front and 1 in the middle with all that power to pull that many Cars. Chris have you thought about a Challenge between your "THE BIG BOY" by itself NO HELP from any other Engine vs. All of your Diesel Engines to pull your Entire Inventory of Cars: Passenger as well as your Rolling Stock. You can Cheat a little by placing your Diesels in front - center and the rear so you can Push and Pull Everything you have, or you can do the Honorable Way and that is too have all your Diesels up front only to pull everything you have. Besides your Layout is FLAT and no inclines and Switches anywhere just one giant loop. I hope someday when I finish my Layout which will include at least two Four Level High 84" diameter Helix and several switches. Now that is what I think would be considered a real Challenge. I think there should be a minimum of 3 Laps around the Layout what do you think? Hi Bob- when you program the DCS lash up, you can add multiple “middle” engines. Give that a try and it should work just fine. Thanks for watching!

Chris have you thought about a Challenge between your "THE BIG BOY" by itself NO HELP from any other Engine vs. All of your Diesel Engines to pull your Entire Inventory of Cars: Passenger as well as your Rolling Stock. You can Cheat a little by placing your Diesels in front - center and the rear so you can Push and Pull Everything you have, or you can do the Honorable Way and that is too have all your Diesels up front only to pull everything you have. Besides your Layout is FLAT and no inclines and Switches anywhere just one giant loop. I hope someday when I finish my Layout which will include at least two Four Level High 84" diameter Helix and several switches. Now that is what I think would be considered a real Challenge.
