When I get bored and want to run trains I go down the layout try to figure out what train I wanna run have an mini crisis and then just give up
Hahahaha! I think we can all relate. Great video title: "Overwhelmed By Train Collection"
I felt this.
Love the 50th anniversary New York Central set!, also the up diesels !
Me too John! Was fun to get these running.
Trains to run when you're bored.
Me: All of them 😀
Agree!
The Mohawk needs a review. It’s such a cool set!!
Yes! It is way overdue and each week more reviews get posted, lol
Congratulations on getting into Classic Toy Trains, I'd love to see you run ATSF 3460 sometime and maybe some Santa Fe F Units
This was a clever video Chris, Good to refresh your subscribers of what's your collection is looking like! Aswell as how your collection walls look like 👍
So jelly of the 50th anniversary set, definitely one I hope to find come fall York!
Yes, we will have to look for more Hudsons for you this Fall at York!
im 72 years old and have had trains since i was 6. i have kept them all in running order for 66 years. your videos are such a joy to watch. your enthusiasm makes me feel young again. thrilled to see you on the cover of CTT. when my time on earth is up i ought to just have my estate ship them all to you. you look like you could use a few more LOL
Hey, Chris! Congrats on making the cover of Classic Toy Trains! I would love to get a signed autograph copy. I got a birthday coming up this week. That would be an awesome birthday gift! Also, I was so surprised to see that the Katy of all locomotives was not leading that modern train! 😂
Happy Birthday Garrett! Not sure how close you are to PA but I will be at the York show this week (April 29th) and would be glad to sign the magazine. Won't lie - I like the horn on the 9096 better than the 1988 so I put the 9096 on point, lol. Thanks for watching and have a great Birthday week!
@@RBPTrains Hey, Chris! Thanks for the b-day wish! Dang, my birthday is the 29th! I'm turning 28! I would love to attend and meet you. Unfortunately, I can't make it over. Even though, I am one state over in central Ohio. I have a friend from high school who lives in the Lancaster, PA area that I still keep in touch with regularly. Same area as Chris T&T. Also, that lash-up was really cool! I really enjoy watching you run your big steam and modern diesels! Those are awesome!
Congrats Chris on being on the cover and featured in CTT. I think I saw a WM Challenger, would love to see that run.
RBP trains, even though I’ve had a fascination with trains my whole life, it was your channel that pushed me to actually start my own model train collection. I got a ready to run set just last week and have been enjoying it thoroughly. Here’s to hoping that it will be a lifelong hobby!
Hi Andrew - so glad to hear that you have started on your own collection. The ready-to-run sets are always a great regardless of whether you are starting out or have been collecting your whole life. Enjoy that train and thanks for watching!
Congrats on the magazine feature! I love your videos, like you, I just like to watch them run! I have 2 questions: 1st - have you ever done a video with the B&O 4-4-0? 2nd - how do you electrically handle the reverse loop on the right side (from our view) of the layout when you're running continuous?
Thanks Alan! Answers to your questions: 1. I have not done a video on the B&O 4-4-0 yet. It has run in the background of a few videos but I will get it into a video at some point. 2. The Fastrack switches have auto-reversing features built in and pull power from the track so it makes install and operation easy. The auto-reverse feature works regardless of conventional or command operation. Thanks for watching!
@@RBPTrains that’s probably the best part about Lionel trains. The switches have pretty much always done that. There’s an isolated section on the switch that the trains wheels themselves provide power to. This activates the reverse. Nice!
Chris....you're a natural. Your sense of humor is refreshing. And I don't recall anybody's pic on the cover of this magazine through the years I've subscribed ? Great story.
The live stream with Sid was very enjoyable. A terrific group of bandits. 😁 Zach was a wonderful addition.
Thank you Chris. 👍
Thanks Jim! I started talking with Zac last Winter when he did his big giveaway. Took a few months but we finally convinced him to join the stream and it was great fun. Hoping to make those live events more of a regular thing. Take care!
The hot dog the hot dog
Great video as always RBP, love the little effects you added to this one. As an idea, you should run all of the more “modern” trains on your layout. A different change from the older power
Great suggestion! That would be a fun video.
Thanks for the inspiring train run, Chris! I guess you're aloud to be bored once in a while, but for me as a fan, you're never boring! I really like seeing the NYC 5433 Hudson leading that great passenger consist. It's a powerful looking steamer that takes me back to the later 1940's, when steam was king. I never get tired seeing a steam loco on the rails, whether prototype or fantasy! But the best part of watching your channel is seeing and hearing your always positive take on collecting and running O gauge trains on your great layout!
Thanks for watching Tom! Was fun to run this Hudson for the video and I will make sure to give it more run time down the line!
I've always wanted to have my own model railroad like this, and in my personal opinion, the two steam locomotives I'd buy are my most favorite engines, the Hiawatha F7 steam engine, and the New York Central 4-6-4 J3 Hudson, beautiful locomotives, and wonderful steamers I'd have on my layout, considering that I'm more into steam than diesel
Thats awesome! I’ve always dreamed of being in the trains magazine! And also every cultured man knows, running trains is the ultimate cure for anyone’s boredom. Also if you could in the next episode, could you run the Santa Fe blue goose? I am a absolutely huge fan of the Santa Fe and I’d love it if you could run the Santa Fe’s only streamlined Hudson’s
The Blue Goose is overdue for a video. I will work on getting it featured in an upcoming video. Great pick!
@@RBPTrains thanks RBP!
There are things that you find completely not understandable. For me it's being bored. I have never been bored as an adult. But I like it when your bored because you show trains.
Great run session Chris. That 50th Anniversary Train set is a gorgeous set. Even though it’s TMCC, it still holds well with today’s Legacy locomotives. It looks fantastic, and it sounds fantastic. Even the Station Sounds passenger car sounds great. I honestly thought you were looking at the #490 Chesapeake and Ohio Yellow Belly. I’d love to see that one run again. The yellow color is so striking, just like the MPC Chessie Steam Special. The color pops out at you.
The 490 needs more run time, I agree. Great suggestion Tom!
I like the postwar era but I LOVE the MPC era
I would like to see a video of the Southern Crescent Legacy compared to the Southern Crescent MPC era you could do it with the blue comet and other engines too
I do like comparing the MPC and Modern sets. Sounds like fun, great idea!
@@RBPTrains thanks
Chris You a literally the bob ross of model railroading and I enjoy your videos
No mistakes, just happy accidents. Haha, thanks!
@@RBPTrains and keep on moving down the line lol
@@RBPTrains have you have any cabforwards in your collection ?
I would never get bored with all those trains and layout your extremely lucky to have all those trains I only have a steam engine and deisol
Congratulations on making the front page of the toy train magazine Chris
As a full time n scale rivet counter and part time toy train enthusiast since inheriting my late fathers' collection, I think the mighty sound of steam from Fundimensions is the best sound Lionel ever invented. It takes me back to Christmas time as a little kid. Along with some original cedar scented smoke oil!
Like the MPC steam special. I own, and enjoy operating, big LTI version with Williams coaches.
And now back to my scale Conrail layout ☺
I think many of us agree with you that some of these trains have a nostalgic effect attached that brings back those memories. I bet your layout is amazing! Thanks for watching
living that sound of steam life I see. props!
RPB: THE POWER
Singing voice: HE MAN
Also you have the new pacemaker 😱
Love to see that Chesapeake and Ohio streamliner
I was recommended your channel today, now I want to expand my small collection of model trains
Always room for more trains, haha! Thanks for watching.
Congrats on the feature and COVER in CTT!!!
It was nice to see the pace setter in its bright red color. The colors alone will take you out of the boredom. The lash up is pretty awesome. To see you have to dig out from under the table was funny. But is reminder for me to do the same for the ones in the draws on the floor and the one on the shelf. JH
Thanks for another fun video I change my trains out about every 3 months so they all get a turn I can run. 3 at a time I like all your New York central Hudson’s
Always fun to cycle through the trains. Whenever my nephews come over or my kids have friends who want to see the trains I sit back and tell them to pick any train from the wall. Always fun to see what they pick and it keeps different trains running throughout the week and between videos. Thanks for watching!
Congrats on the feature!
The Legacy Southern Crescent Limited Pacific has my personal favorite model train whistle so that’s my request
You picked out a winner in my book with the 5433 Hudson.! BIG 👍Really interesting about you and your fantastic layout in Classic Toy Trains.!😊Congratulations.! Well Done 👍
Thanks Mark!
So great to be on the mag. Great for the hobby.
Fun thing about that Hudson, it's whistle is a deeper pitched sound from the 1996 Commodore Vanderbilt, which is actually from BCOL (CPR) Royal Hudson #2860
When it comes to American steam engines, the NYC Hudson is a queen of the rails!
When I get bored, I tend to run the most colorful yet realistic train I have. When I want something more interesting, I tend to bring out either one of my three “large” locomotives.
Love your collection.something about MPC colors.congradulations on becoming a rock star.you deserve it.
Thanks guys! Appreciate the support!
Ideas for trains to run? Maybe a red engine/train video. Examples: The pacemaker, the Texas special, the Katy. All sounds good!
That is a cool idea - color coordinating!
please do the Bolt. and Ohio 440 next time! That would just make me so happy because my first ever model train was a at&sf 440 but was lost in a fire... it meant a lot to me...
Of course, the train you're looking for is the last box you look in way deep under the layout.
Same thing always happens to me, too :-/
I know right? Haha, luckily I was able to turn it into something for the video! Now I need to update my labels... Thanks for watching!
Fun video, Chris! Great running session. I 'd enjoy seeing more of your diesel collection, but I'd also like to see you run the C&O "Yellow Belly" Hudson and the NYC Commodore Vanderbilt. Bill B.
Love that Hudson, especially thanks to the lack of Class lights. Always wonder why Lionel puts them in their newer runs for the J3s. Great video!
Good to know that…
a. I’m not the only one who keeps rolling stock in big storage bins underneath my layout.
b. Someone else hates digging through them, just like me. ☺️👍
Hi rbp my name is george and ive loved your content alot i have alot of train layouts including my oo gage layout and this video cured my boredom
So cool your on the cover :) I would like too see some MPC Illinois central. in the classic orange/white
What people would love to see you run? The 611.
Such an ideal Steam Locomotive collection
I started collecting about 2 years ago. I'm 70 and I get a real kick out of the depth of your collection. My collection is on public display in Nicholson, Pennsylvania, with a full panoramic view of the Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct. Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, The Lackawanna Cut-off, as it is otherwise known, is the world's largest concrete and steel reinforced railroad bridge in the world, built by the D.L &W from 1912-1915, and was a monumental part of the development and history of the PRR. Once again, I really enjoy your artistry and your enthusiasm.
Being from NJ the 50th Anniversary Set was calling me home. The New York Central is beautiful love the Whistle. Congratulations on your magazine cover. Can't help but think
On the Cover of the Rolling Stone
I like seeing the old 1800s trains those are my favorite
Congrats on the issue of Classic Toy Trains Magazine. Got my issue and enjoyed reading it. Thanks for more trains to run.
Thank you James!
Great stuff, Chris! I would love to see an all Santa Fe video. Bonnets galore!
Classic! That would be a fun video.
I'd like to see an episode of running all the postwar growlers in your fleet!
I can smell that video now, haha! Great idea!
@@RBPTrains YES POST WAR F3'S!!!!!!!!!
Very cool video!
And, Congratulations on the the magazine feature!
And I thought my problem was unique. The abyss and the bins of doom. Love it. Another entertaining video Katy boy! Alrighty then!
LOL
I would like to see a doubleheader of the 0-6-0 dockside and the C&O shunter.
Got to give the little guys a shout too!
Congrats on being featured in Classic Toy Trains, that's quite the accomplishment!
Thank you!
This brought a little excitement to my day. Thanks Chris!
I really enjoyed the trains to watch when you are bored theme. Well done!
Thanks Scott! My daughter gave me the idea, haha!
Great video 👍 I would love to see the Hiawatha run on the layout!
Thanks! I will get the Hiawatha running again soon. I ran it las Fall in this video: ruclips.net/video/NaoDvfwPObE/видео.html
What a great video this is! Amazing magazine I might add. Anyhoo, I gotta get my trains running again.
Any streamlined loco will do. I can never get enough of the 611
Chris run that C&O LOOKS FANTASTIC ALL ABOARD ;-)
I bought the Classic Toy Train magazine. Good reading. I see you got the centerfold. I must be getting old though. When I was younger I wanted to see something different in the centerfold! LOL
I like the old classic late 1800s trains those are my favorite
My go to is my lion master big boy or my pre war baby blue comet, they never disappoint
I’ve been a subscriber to CTT since 1989
Holy cow there’s a ton of money on that wall!!
Another fun video Chris, and congrats on the CTT feature! Really liking that Hudson anniversary set...
Thanks Steven! I did not even know this Anniversary set existed. Always discovering something new with this hobby. Take care!
Another great show; thanks again for your hard work and entertainment! I can relate to your storage challenge under layout diving. Classic Toy Trains Mag. was the one that got me into the Hobby, and I enjoyed reading your article. Come to Katy country next time you're bored and we will entertain you with many trains. Happy Trails !
Thanks CGR! Still trying to figure out a trip to Katy Country. Gotta find a way to get my wife and kids down there. :)
This is like a behind the scenes look at how rbp makes videos.
4-5 Hours of prep and rooting through bins. 12 minutes of video, LOL.
@@RBPTrains I also forgot to include you should run the shay
Chessie Steam Special? HOW DARE YOU! 🤣
I love Chessie System! Learned a lot of things from CSX history.
The one train that I’m still waiting to see running on the layout is that mpc general set you were able to find
Great suggestion! We will get that one rolling soon
Chris,
That CTT article directed me to your RUclips channel. I have been viewing past videos ever since. Totally enjoy your channel and subscribed ever since. Stay safe 😎
Thanks Lou and welcome aboard!
Always enjoy your videos, congrats on making the cover of Classic Toy Trains. Makes me smile to see it's not just old guys like me that have to go looking under the layout cause I've lost track of where the rolling stock is located.
Haha, I am always digging for something under the layout. I think it just comes with the territory. Thanks for watching!
Great stuff man, your shelves are looking great and that Hudson set with the LL cars is to die for 🔥
Ooooo 4-4-0 please! Congratulations on the magazine cover Chirs!!!!
Bro I'm a strictly ho scale enthusiast but your content can not be bad at all
Awesome! We haven't had working train sets like that since I was a kid. We still have the trains, but I don't think we have enough track in working condition anymore to run them, and most of our trains can barely run if at all now, several of them are multiple generations old I believe. My mom's favorite is the red and silver Sante Fe.
Awesome video as always. Congrats on the magazine article Chris!! I really like that UP and Katy train. Have a great weekend my friend
Next time I need to get those Santa Fe SD40-2 engines rolling, haha!
@@RBPTrains Awesome ;-)
That 50 anniversary set is sweet
First off like your train wistle,Layout is nice ,it allows you access to everything Nice selection of rolling stock,All kinds of neat stuff
Thanks! I found that whistle at the PRR Railroad Museum Gift Shop in Strasburg, PA. Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on getting featured on CLASSIC TOY TRAINS magazine. My son and I are huge fans of your channel. Keep up the great work.
You crack me up, ha-ha. Great video as always. I second the comment of the 4-4-0. I love those engines! I had the PRR version and when I tried to run it the Crosshead guide broke off and I never got it run it, lol. Love to see yours running.
Thanks Sean! See you at York my friend :)
I'm a novice with model railroading. Other than the trainsets I got as a child. I recently gained a new interest in watching videos of them. I came across your channel and I love this video. I'm a bigger fan of the more modern diesel engines than of the old fashioned steam engines. My favorite is the ones with the "cat whiskers" on them. I'm not quite sure what the professional name would be, but I'm fascinated by them. Love your videos and wish I had enough time and cash to invest in a set up like yours.
Thanks for watching Darryl! I am big fan of the modern diesels as well. So many different models out there to pick from and run.
I just want the biggest Norfolk and Southern lash-up or the Lionel legacy empire State Express set and the Blue Mongoose!
You had me at the 50th anniversary Hudson set ♥️ LOL Good stuff!
I thought of you when I got this set since it has the modern features with the vintage appeal, lol
It's hard for me to get bored but when I do I do exactly what you do Chris and that is running my trains
Great way to cure boredom! :)
that 4-4-0 definitely needs more runtime on the channel
This has been a popular pick - gotta get this one running soon!
Congrats on the feature in the magazine, that's amazing! Also, is it just me, or is Chris like Jim Carrey if he liked trains lol.
Thanks! I get the Jim Carrey reference all the time. Now that he retired from acting, maybe he can come run trains here, haha!
@@RBPTrains lol that would be amazing
That Mth Western & Maryland challenger looks cool. Run that at some point please.
Hi Matt - That engine is misleading as it is a Fantasy Scheme from Lionel, lol. It is actually a EM-1 Yellowstone Locomotive that is dressed in WM colors. Still a fun engine but I do need to find a WM Challenger at some point. The WM EM-1 that you see behind me ran in this video: ruclips.net/video/jkeQ6KQQYNY/видео.html
I love what you said in the article about throwing your switches by hand. As an ex RR conductor I do the same thing. It makes me feel like I'm part of the crew!
Makes me feel better knowing I am not alone!
The original Irvington cars were made of Bakelite. The same material telephones were made out of. They are a caustic material that will resist painting therefore they were not painted they were just the natural color of the Bakelite.
I got the MPC coaches but their pulled by a Chessie 4-8-4 northern by MTH. The PS3 whistle sounds awesome!
3:10 oh man he had to dig out the crates lol
Haha - took soooo much time!
I also have been here sense you started this amazing channel and again keep up the good work😊😊😊☺️☺️☺️
Your my favorite youtuber as well as Eric from Eric’s trains.
Amazing video as always Chris! 👍🚂
@RBP Trains Jolly good show mate 🙂 just did some research on O scale trains, here in Australia they are very rare. Hardly any stores carry O scale sets (they're all on eBay coming from the US, literally nothing local in Australia, namely in Melbourne)
