Finally some well deserved love for AC Unity. This game is amazing. The Bugs at launch were primarily in the co op mode for me atleast. The Single-Player was absolutely amazing.
Just recently starting playing it again on the rog ally and playing it at 60fps man if this game got a modern day update on consoles it would be amazing criminally underrated assassins creed
Unity parkour was the best AC ever did and I loved the hidden crossbow bolt gadget! The only thing I didn’t love was the melee combat was really really slow. Speed it up and I think it would be my fav AC
I loved Unity, they had the best parkour and stealth mechanics in my opinion. Not only that but the detail they put into the monuments in France allowed the French government to use the games scans of Notre Dame to rebuild and restore it to what it was after it had tragically caught fire.
and the game ending speech was fucking beautiful. i guess I got lucky bc I didn't play it at release and when I finally played it there wasn't any bugs
Good stealth would require AI that doesn't just idly watch as you stab every living thing in its line of sight and then waits for you to walk up to them and stab them too. It's ridiculous how they don't react to anything whatsoever, you can just stab whoever you want whenever you want with impunity.
I love unity and had the weirdest experience with it because when I played it on Launch I never experienced any of the bugs others did... and was baffled when I saw the reviews calling it a buggy mess.
Assassin's Creed Unity was one of the AC first games I owned. Fortunately, I had bought it in the time where most of the bugs had been fixed, and I must say, I really really enjoyed it. Especially the stealth and parkour. Also the Berserker Blades. Those were fun.
It was my first AC game. After I beat it I immediately got the first 3 games. Now I’ve played every mainline game except for Odyssey, Valhalla, & Mirage
For me the Dishonored series (1 2 and the DLC) are as close to perfection as you can get (for me personally anyway) the story, the mood, the lore, the graphics and gameplay all flawless. One of my all time favourite game series
The issue I had with GTA 5 was not the mundane missions, but the fact that you essentially have no money until the game is over. Utilizing the stock market you can have more money than you would ever need but that means playing through all of the missions with very few upgrades. Then once you have all the fruits of your labor, there’s not much to do with them besides the few side quests you never got around to.
@@Deuceswild47it never was for me. The only thing you couldn’t buy would be the golf course cuz it was so expensive you needed to use the stock market to afford it. Most things you would get enough money by the half of the story I felt like.
Dead Space (2008) Asteroid shooting still haunts me and I'm glad Remake fixed it. Man i can't say how many times I failed in that level until i accidentally was able to pass it.
The first time I played that mission, it reminded me of a similar mission way back on the SEGA MegaDrive/Genesis. One of the last missions on Michael Jacksons (weird) Moonwalker game level 6-2 (I just had to google it).
@@Hahnfruh It throws TOO many asteroids at me and I can't keep track for every single piece. I literally cannot do that mission without taking damage unless you wanna be a professional. It is a boring point-n-click turret garbage, just like the one from Resident Evil 5.
Gta V is one i need to disagree with. I loved these misons it adds a feeling of realism. Just like RDR2 farming misions. It flashes out the world and you have feeling real people live there and people have job's and responsibilities. Not just hijacking cars and robbing Banks. There is mix of content for every type of players
I think that ppl "dread" replaying those missions simply because they already know the story TBF its a problem with any linear story driven game, there's really no replayability. You just cant hit those moments again with the same impact
Robbing banks not good either lol. You literally going for a bank and jewelery robbery with 2 other people you know nothing of. And it's ending sucks too, nothing emotional at all. 4's ending was a masterpiece.
@@omgnumbers9944 The story itself is too mundane and boring, I can play GTA 4 or Skyrim multiple times and wouldn't get bored. I literally memorized Skyrim and Fallout 4's every mission yet still playing them because they are just so good. In GTA 5 even the bank robberies boring, except the Frank, you literally going out of a giant bank robbery with people you know nothing of. You don't even steal a wallet with someone like that, all it takes is a 1 second decision of the other guy wants the money for himself.
@@omgnumbers9944for me its not even fair to judge any longer game for replayability. most people usually dont even complete whole game once, so to make big game replayable it doesnt make sense. game should be best as possible with first playthrough, and then lets play other games.
@@LaurenSnowie so the game sucked cuz it didn't have an emotional ending? lmao that's just your preference and it doesn't make the game bad. V went with the happy ending approach. Gta IV is ass because it just doesn't suit the GTA vibes at all. You'd know if you played the other gta games
One game that i would put in this list is Sleeping Dogs. It doesn’t do anything perfectly but it does everything almost perfect. If it could just refine certain bits and pieces it would be a masterpiece. Gmanlives made a video on it and said the same thing. Nevertheless one of the funnest games Ive ever played. Replayed it several times and had a blast. Hope they revisit that series soon!
Played it on PC, PS3 and PS4 and it's easily one of my all time favourites. The shooting wasn't good and driving was a little wonky but the game is such a fantastic classic. It's awesome that it started out as True Crime Hong Kong. Hopefully one day we get a sequel
I personally thought the "bad" part of marvels spiderman was the stealth. They made this super in depth stealth system but in enemy bases the enemies see you after wave 1 no matter what, and the stealth challenges are hit with strict time limits that make it impossible to deviate from almost frame perfect paths to get gold.
I have to agree, both on the stealth and the MJ missions, but I also think that the swinging wasn't as great as it could have been. Both Spider-Man 2 and Web of Shadows did some nice things with swinging that Marvel's Spider-man just doesn't. Especially the fact that you can't really f up swings close to the ground or do loops even when technically fast enough are a bit sad. I will say, however, that Marvel's Spider-Man is a lot better in the MJ department than its successor at least.
i love the mundane stuff in gta- i feel like the weird diversions like towing cars are what make it stand out and i'd hate if they never had those side activities/weird little minigames
Yeah this guy has no clue what he is talking about . All those things is what makes gta fun . The one thing I hated was the Martian battle. That was stupid .
I like it too. If you come from the 3D universe to the HD universe I understand why many people find it annoying but it helps a lot with grounding the player in the more realistic world of the HDU. I also like the slower dialogue heavy missions in Rockstar’s games since they usually add a lot of character information and development.
Idk how hard it would be to fill out the list, but it would be cool to see a list of games like Unity, that are regarded much better now. As someone who is playing a lot of "older" games because they were out of gaming for a while, relying on research (critic scores, rankings on forums, etc) can hurt such games, because people generally aren't updating from their first takes. Because of Gameranx, I plan on playing Unity at some point.
I'm in a similar boat to you I was born in the late eighties and played a lot of games throughout the 90 until about 2005. Haven't played much at all since but recently found some good deals on games and got a bunch of PS3 Xbox 360 games and a few others
I have only been watching the gameranx channel for a bit over a year but they are definitely the most professional gamer channel out there I reckon well done
As for Spider-Man, I can deal with those repeat side missions, played enough games that had this, but the Mary Jane and Miles sneaking around parts did it for me.
I think he nailed it: the open world looks so cool... but there is nothing to do except these copy+paste quick missions and zip around. But I agree with you on the sneaking missions. It's as annoying as the follow missions on AC Black Flag.
I think Spider-Man 2 did a better job with having a good amount of balance where as the first game had way too many MJ missions, Spider-Man 2 was significantly better with how it handled them. The downside with SM2 is that is then got rid of the more difficult to find collectibles which made it way too easy to platinum. SM2 49 hours from 0-100% Not terrible but could have been better.
I struggled with this part as well & it annoyed me how fanboys ignored it... ~For me the annoying part was alot of moves werent Smooth... In Arkham Knight you could learn the combo moves for every gadget/move etc. Like hold LB & B instread of opening the gadget wheel and highlighting the freeze grenade. Rocksteady shoulda made a Batman Arkham vs Justiceleague singleplayer. Not the garbage Live Sevice game that will be dead on arrival just like the other Gotham game. ~~~Plus it's a cop out that we are attacking the JLA cause they are mind controlled..how lame.. Why not just because Amanda Walller hates them... SHe shoulda did it with 1 hero we play as similar ot batman. Maybe Deathstroke or Azrael,,Nightwing,,Catman or Catwoman i dunno......
Funny that you upload this, I've installed Unity a couple of days ago and I love it. You can feel this is true Assassins Creed, not like the new RPGs. Combat is very cool and consistent. Gadgets, customization, riddles, cool finishes, etc. The sequence of the creed accepting you, the hideout with the secret rooms, the graphics. It's finally time to play it.
When I played AC Unity the first time at launch on PS4, and everytime since I never came into any of the game breaking bugs that others ran into. I'm happy that the game is finally getting the respect it deserves even if it almost 10 years later.
When did you play it for the first time? I started playing it this year. Only the co-op missions are broken so I avoided them. For some reason I am unable to swing my sword when I try to fight an enemy. The enemy also had their swords out but they just stare at me. It is really annoying when the game won't do what I want it to do. I did get stuck on a ladder which made me fail a mission.
Same. I only had some pretty bad bugs during some co-op missions, but only did like 2. Outside of some flying baskets with apples (because the holder was scared and run) I never had any issues. They were really ahead of their time with that game. And sadly never did again.
parkour is inconsistent due to object placement more so than parkour itself, patches and especially mods never fixed that. while messing around in the city is fine for the most part, strangely enough all the weirdness comes in the missions. the rest of the game is simply unfinished, Arno does not even talk in moments you would expect him to. so... yay it is a great game to run around without any purpose..
It took 9 years but AC Unity is finally living down its infamous release and getting some respect. I first played it in 2018, so I missed all the technical problems, and it's always been one of my favorite AC's.
The way the characters animated from sprinting> crouching> prone in MGSV still blows my mind. Never finished the game but still enjoyed my time with it.
11:12 - Blighttown wasn't hated as much as lost izalith was with me. It is a seemingly half finished area and the boss takes more luck than skill to "fight" it.
bed of chaos, only name of a boss i remember. Made me delete save and start over few days later. Blighttown was boring for me because of verticality and toxic water
Lost Izalith was a torture, that fucking lava lake is so bright that my eyes hurt by just thinking about it, it is a shame though, is cleary a rushed area, thaat had a good lore on the background, and was,in certain way, explored in DS3. But yeah, although Blighttown was a shithole because of the FPS and the fucking mosquitoes, it was bearable, some of the itens in there were worthy of the suffering, but Lost Izalith had nothing on it, all the good loot and side story in it was contained in the last section of the map, and can be easily reach by the shortcut via the Fair Lady covenant, sometimes i'd find myself going through Blighttown by the normal route, but i never go through Lost Izalith without the shortcut
Haha same. It’s my favorite ME game. I found the overall story more compelling than ME2 while having the best gameplay qualities of the previous 2 games. Understand the dislike of the ending but all else was incredible.
Yup. However one feels about the last 30 minutes, 99% of the game is amazing. The characters are real people you've grow attached to and follow through to a deeply-satisfying (or tragic) conclusion. The love scenarios are some of the best and deepest you can find. The climax to long-building story arcs (like the Genophage) are incredibly emotional. And the Citadel DLC Mission/Party might be the most joyful few hours in all of gaming.
I find this video to be a bit interesting it shows the nature of flaws in video games and how it effects people very differently. 1-There are flaws that i just dont agree with like the weapon degradation but thats an extremely unpopular opinion. 2-There are flaws that while i do agree with they dont really reduce the game of not being a masterpiece because the overall experience was more than worth it like dark souls and OOT these games took risks and without them these games wouldnt exist. 3-There are flaws that are small in the grand scheme of things but pretty much damage the entire experience and for me nothing embodies this more than ME3, i played and replayed ME 1 and 2 for 5 years and have them pretty much memorized due to how many times i played them, ME3 was shaping up to be the cherry on top, just for the ending to shit all over it, i was really heart broken and i just couldnt and still cant bring myself to revisit the series until they address the ending in the new ME game.
For me Arkham Asylum is the best one. I love city, I love Knight except for the end of the story. But Asylum gave you the creepy atmosphere of what Gotham can be, the intro of the rainy city, the creepy asylum. I was a kid when I played it and felt chills all the time.
Playing Metal Gear Solid V, you can tell the exact point in production when Kojima started butting heads with Konami. If Kojima had been allowed to make the game he wanted, we would be talking about it as one of the greatest games of all time.
Mass Effect trilogy is my personal favorite games ever. I replay them once and a while with the legendary edition on PS5. Playing through all 3 back to back is such an amazing story to get into and the characters are so good.
I thought the ME3 ending was pretty damn awesome. Life is not always fairy tales with happy endings and I’m glad the game creators decided to go with the ending choices. Mass effect series is my favourite series ever!
It's among some of my favorite video games of all time too, so many good memories and the citadel dlc was fantastic. I really hope they don't mess up the upcoming game. Andromeda could've been something but the story didn't have that same energy to it and the characters were less interesting .
I remember replaying all three just to get multiple endings, not to mention a replay on the ps4. Is the legendary edition on ps5 good? I've been waiting to upgrade for a while, to let sony iron out bugs, hopefully get a bit cheaper etc thinking legendary mass effect and the new horizon zero dawn.... but that will have to wait until $$ are stable, lol
Honestly. I agree that weapon degradation can really be annoying, but if it's done right like in Oblivian where you can fix your own gear and even improve it past 100 if you get your skill with repair high enough that it could be more interesting
Don't Change Gameranx. You people show what you think and make such awesome content. Never make content like Disney like they do for fans and always there is that bad writing. Nailed it again you people.
I didn't give a rip about the story, like I didn't care about the plot in Dead Island; it's just an excuse to wander around ripping people apart, and I'm not fighting that. For Prototype, my only complaint was the main character was really just not likable. Mercer struck me as an asshole and the whole game feels like there was supposed to be a morality system but they forgot to put one in.
@@Anonymous-hp1tg they also made the gliding more intuitive and improved the shields. Prototype was good, but then you play 2 and it's like "oh, damn... I got so used to that I forgot it was annoying at first, but this way's a lot better".
@@louiemarks8501 good for you. You could still skip a good story while people who do care are stuck with quite the nothing sandwich... Something about revenge and Wolverine-like experimentation ? I just remember assimilating people for memories.
I always loved ME3 and I didn't really have a problem with the ending, either. My headcanon has always been indoctrination theory, so the ending to me just seemed to fit from my point of view (I'm aware that indoctrination theory wasn't part of their intention in the official story, but it always made sense to me regardless).
it had plenty of issues besides the ending Legendary edition ME3 is the almost masterpiece, 2012 version (without all the DLCs that followed, with Day 1 Javik DLC) isn't even close to almost masterpiece I'm glad they did LE, even tho it was more or less money grub from EA, I'm glad they did, and it sold great and people experienced the masterpiece that is ME trilogy
GTA V and Cyberpunk(post bug free update) r already masterpieces for me. GTA for everything it does and Cyberpunk for the story aside from great missions and weapons. Cyberpunk has one of the best stories in recent memory in which u do not lose the track and doesn't need internet to understand it later
Finnaly someone understands that AC unity is a realy goid game. killing key characters (boss fights) was 20/10 and thr combat and stealth were 9,5/10 ,its onli weaknes was its 7/10 story.
Sub Nautica, Control, Tomb raider, and Prey just don't get enough credit. I LOVED all of them and I have played them over because I liked them so much. I agree with Mass Effect, it's also fantastic!!
Metal gear solid 5 is a true masterpiece in my opinion. Ive put over 1000 hours into it between the story, and the online multiplayer. All loose ends not tied up in story cutscenes are answered with the tapes you can listen too. The tapes cover all the secrets and hidden history.
It is a great game, but it's literally an unfinished game. I can't think of anything that would knock a great game out of the masterpiece class quicker than a game with no real ending
I’m so glad you included Mass Effect 3. It gets a lot of negative attention for the ending but people often forget just how amazing the rest of the game is
I liked everything about that game. I am infamous for playing 65% of a game and then moving onto the next thing. Mass Effect 3 is one of the few that I completed. Spider-Man 2018 too.
It really feels like that I think i almost never saw rain in grass hills or forests, but every time I was somewhere with mountains to climb it would start raining when I mid climbing
If I'm mid climb I can't just yeet myself off a mountain to make a fire. And what if I don't have the materials? The weather system in both games is fucked.@@loz1991
Blight town is a good pick, fighting dragon butts in the slapped together lava world of Lost Izalith, or the Bed of Chaos would have been good picks too. Although there was a large enemy variety over all, the mini bosses in the small Elden ring Dungeons could also be a sticking point, but most of those are optional.
To me it's Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. I tried it only a few years ago and fell in love with it despite it's flaws. Everything about it for me was just the perfect type of game I like and the flaws weren't too terrible and easy to ignore, just the feeling of wishing it didn't have them so it could be even better. I'm very happy it got a remaster, expansion and hopefully that means more could come out from it later on. If no greedy/cheap people ruin it.
One could say Marvel’s Midnight Suns woulda been perfect if they’d found some way to convince people through marketing that it wasn’t a full-priced mobile game because of the cards. The Abbey exploration wasn’t my favorite but the combat was some of the best I’ve ever had in a tactics game.
Blighttown is one of my favorite parts of DS1, especially ahead of some of the later areas (Tomb of Giants anyone?). Of course, I did play it on Dark Souls Remastered on a newer PC, so I didn’t deal with frame rate issues.
Arkham Knight could be on the next list or on another list of games that almost hit the mark. Great graphics, great design for Gotham City, new gadgets, tougher enemies to fight, and most fluid combat in the series. My second favorite game in the Arkham series. It just feels like it needs more of the villains in the story rather than being in the side content, less story plot holes such as joker's blood turning people into him for some strange reason, better boss fights, and less batmobile at times, though I don't mind the batmobile like other players do.
I am playing through the arkham trilogy again right now, halfway through Knight. And I personally enjoy MOST of the batmobile stuff (about 80%) of it. I am now realizing where the got the ideas/mechanics for their Mad Max game and have started to appreciate it a little bit more.
@@NoBrainActivity7068 the riddler segments, in particular the races, didn't do it for me. But, I enjoyed the tank battles. However, once you finish upgrading the grapnel, the batmobile becomes just a novelty since grapnel travel becomes WAY faster.
As I just posted - Just recently finished first playthru of Arkham Knight, I loved it and thought the BatTank missions were fun (maybe too many of them though). My BIG issue is locking the final boss fight behind collecting like 243 Riddler Trophies - BS!
yeah, I liked the game, but I feel to much time was put into the batmobile and took away from them developing the rest of the game, and I really, really hated most of the batmobile content. Did like alot of the story beats, especially how for once Mr Freeze got a kinda happy ending.
Yeah metal gear solid has got to be my biggest gaming disappointment. Game was fun but the story just stops, and worse it makes you replay missions without any real reason. Then once you’re done u get what feels like an awesome idea on paper with no lead up. It just wasn’t a bad good bye to mgv but to the greater metal gear solid series.
I dont agree AT ALL with the Batman pick here. If there is a Batman game with a lame ending and a bad final boss fight is Batman Arkham City, not Asylum. The only bad thing about Asylum is the combat, but that is more because City and Knights combat was so good. When i returned to plat Asylum after playing City and Knight i was shocked when i saw the difference. It was so more slow, and much less freeflowly.
Game was amazing but yes to short. Loved the varied gameplay and story. Graphic style was great and hold up like a champ. Played it for the third time not long ago. I just want more
i played AC unity for the first time last year and it was the first one in the series i finished since back when AC3 came out… I loved it and it was a great way to experience the original stealth and parkour the series is known for. also Paris is now one of my favorite settings
Honestly my only realy complaint with MGSV is the constantly needing to go back to Mother Base just so my troops don't start beating the shit out of each other.
Biggest issue with Spider-man 2018 is when you don't play as Spider-man. The open world stuff does get lame. Like defeat 5 type of gangs in each location or Taskmaster/Screwball challenges got old very fast. But like Jake said, that isn't so bad because playing as Spider-man is so fun.
Funny thing about ACU is I never had a single issue. The bugs were so popular that I remember I used to literally wait for it to happen but nope never had I single issue
Alien Isolation for me. The details, the atmosphere, the Alien, was perfect. They hit it out of the park with all of it. However, the ending left me annoyed. We know Amanda survives but I really wished they had gone for a much less ambiguous ending.
I would argue Days Gone. Story is absurdly long, and by the end of the game you are OP enough to easily take down a horde of “freakers” (which I would argue is something one should never be able to achieve in a zombie game). But the world is interesting and well done and I wish they would return to tell a different story in that world (they won’t).
Playing Tears of the Kingdom is a truly _wild_ experience. It totally renders Botw the tech demo that it really was. The ''map being re-used'' is a _very loose_ term: I just went back on a 2nd re-play in the Goron region and was shocked at how different it was from the bland, poorly directed main Quest of the 1st game. A _much_ more solid Main Quest story, the whole Structure of the mountain reminded me much more of Ocarina's. Now, nearly _every_ enemy you defeat has a purpose!
But the fact that an entire new game that has the same price as BOTW even has the same stuff is wild and bad. I mean the art style is the same, the world is the same (Yes some new things but its really just the same), the enemys are the same (yeah there are like 4 different enemy types but thats it), bosses are the same (yeah there are like 3 new bosses but thats nothing). It also has the same problem that BOTW had, everything is repetitive and going somewhere doesnt feel special cuz you can get the same stuff you get there somewhere else (Elden ring as an Example has Special items in like caves or smth that only exist there). The sky disappointed me cuz the Island you start at is the only big one, the others are small and also repetitive. The underground is just a copy and paste mess where no location feels different and it doesnt have a purpose (No quests, no tree creatures, and just the same enemys in red smoke (There is 1 new boss in the underground but thats it). After seeing the gameplay trailer i thought i would be a lot on those sky islands and that being pushed down is something you have to care about, but the whole sky is useless and i never got pushed down. It would be "Ok" if it was an Dlc for like 30$ but an ENTIRE NEW GAME for FULL PRICE is just ridiculous. But its alright if you like the game and i respect your opinion 👍👍
I couldn't dissagree more, Totk is a sequal to botw and it really just evolves and makes botw an already good game...Even better. There's a diffrent story, new merging system, new abbilities, a whole ass underground system thats as big as the main map, a ton of sky islands, new enemies and much more...the main map has also drastically changed and for the price you are paying i'd say it is an absolute steal... if your gonna talk about "it's the sams game" or " it's a DLC" then look at mario bros from 2012 to 2019 then you'll see whats repetitive 😅@@Forest762
Nice list. I agree with almost everything, except maybe #2 Zelda BotW - The weapon degradation was different, not bad. However, it is as you said, an opinionated list. And, I appreciate you guys sharing your take. Looking forward to a Part 2.
ACU is so graphically stunning & ahead of its time that it still holds its own in a room full of next gen games. Though the story & characters was lack luster what kept me engaged was literally everything else, the parkour, Interiors, life sized cathedrals imo its one of Ubi's greatest looking games next to Syndicate & The Division 1. it serves as a reminder that when Ubi is good they're really friggen good making it all the more frustrating when drop half-assed duds, they're masters of coming up with great concepts but either fall short of delivering or they get in their own way with all the game ks a service bs.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Combat has sooo much to offer and its really fun and engaging, theres not much Encounters/Arena’s for you to be tested, there are a bunch of builds/shards combination you could do to mix up your play-style and for replay-ability with a bunch of different weapons for you to choose from and use and yet 80% of them wouldn’t even be used in your whole game until the end Theres a good and a handful variety of enemies but it leaves more to be desired, there is not much bosses in the game and especially there is no BOSS RUSH for an endgame content. This one doesn’t seem so necessary but a level editor would’ve been THE BEST!
Mass Effect 3 ripped my guts out. The ending…. Well, you know. The Citadel DLC was a masterpiece, though, and I went back and played through the Citadel DLC three times after bawling my eyes out at the end of the main game. And then did the ending again. And got upset all over again. Even with all that, Mass Effect Legendary was my favorite gaming experience, and I have another run ready to go.
I bought legendary for ps4, went through it immediately, and recently purchased a steam deck, for which legendary was one of the first games I made sure to have in my steam library. I don't think I can ever be sick of Mass Effect.
I had missed this dlc the first time around for some reason and forgot about it but discovered it with the mass effect definitive edition like 10 years later and it’s crazy that I missed the best part of the game
I guess I'm in the minority for always having loved the water temple! When I played OoT on the 3DS, I was trying to figure out why the water temple felt so easy to get through (it had been a while since I played that game), and then I learned they "fixed" the water temple. I remember people saying they liked it so much better, but I truly did love the original (though I did like not having to flip through menus to equip the iron boots).
Shadow Of War. It was amazing. The only negative thing at launch was the loot boxes. They were taken out later on. Now it's an amazing game but if it didn't have that at launch it would have been a masterpiece.
10:00 ME PERSONALLY, I think that this is the one thing that makes GTA V stand out from all the rest of the action/FPS games. It's not just action, Rockstar nailed it with GTA V to ridicule themselves from time to time and to introduce "stupid" missions like that yoga or port crane mission, it's genius tbh
The problem with Spider-Man 2018 IS NOT the open world stuff. That's what made me feel the most like "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man". It was the necessity of playing as Mary Jane. Sadly their idea of "fixing" it in the sequel was to make her OP with the ability to take down kraven's goons immediately while her super powered boyfriend has trouble doing the same, which while being better than the if they spot you the mission is over is not what we buy a Spider-Man game for. I'd rather an ENTIRE game of Miles deaf girlfriend than another Mary Jane mission. At least those were creative.
The people in the comments getting angry because the author of the video made small criticisms of the games is a great example of the level of fanaticism and immaturity in discussions about games.
Jedi fallen order. i've been replaying recently and the only complaint is the lack of a proper fast travel system, that plus the feel of emptinesses upon revisiting places make it seems like a chore
Unity has the most fluid parkour and classic combat , it has balanced amount of stealth and combat, the open world is exciting to roam and graphics are also very good. The npc are one of the best things about this game the dense crowd and variety of activities you can see
Yakuza Like A Dragon is almost a masterpiece for me (the only 2 things i hated about the game was the usual mandatory side quest in Ichiban Confections, i hate those in every Yakuza game) and the forced grinding before you go to Omi HQ [i won't say any more for spoilers :)
I was about 65% through the game and getting wrecked by the time I found out the best healer in the game is Erichan from the business side quest. Having to stop to play and beat that mode really annoyed me. I also had how they bury side quests behind the arcade. I can not play 8bit and 16bit games anymore because the scrolling on LCD and LED panels gives me vertigo - I need an old school CRT with scanlines to mitigate it ... 😔
I’ll always consider myself lucky that I got to play Unity almost entirely bug-free when I got it for my birthday that year. Played it endlessly over winter break and to this day it’s still my favourite AC game.
For me it has to be the witcher 2. For the time, it looked great. Story was nice (as far as I played) and gameplay was not too bad either. So what made me quit and uninstall it without even finishing the story? The damn minimap. The worst minimap I've ever seen in a game. It made no sense and having to go through multiple doors (which I understand back then helped the game load other areas) to get to another area. The game gave 0 hints or directions as to where you needed to go for the next mission and it was the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced in a game. After looking at countless videos at one point I was stuck in a place for half an hour trying to get to the next mission so I just quit and uninstalled. Watched a RUclips summary video about the story so I could play 3.
So, just recently finished AC Unity again. Played it on PS4 originally, but now on PC it’s just amazing. Story is what you make of it, kudos to making the DLC free with the bugs at launch. Personally I enjoyed all of it, my favorite part was Bellec and the clash of ideologies, and seeing Arno build himself back up. With much of the bugs fixed, the Parkour feels good and the combat feels fluid. You can’t just spam attack, but properly parry or smoke bomb attacks etc… Unity was the last game before Mirage where I felt like an Assassin. I guess Syndicate was alright, but only when I played as Evie Frye and the Jack the Ripper DLC was really the only highlight of that game IMO. Obviously, if you’re a hardcore fan already it’ll be easier to enjoy. However, if for nothing else you can appreciate it visually.
Origins was the last game where I felt like an Assassin. Mostly because it still kept the basic features and details of what makes AC so good and combines that with RPG elements, giving a perfect mix and balance between the two. That and the story was top notch. They kinda butchered the ending though
1. Skyrim, Bugs and Glitches 2. Spellbreak, Balancing and Low Player Base 3. Black Desert, Toxic Upgrade System And dare I give a Perfect Game!!! Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life(Gamecube), this is hands down a perfect game!
Rouge galaxy is one of the best rpg games to ever exist. I'd say the only problem it has was the very simplistic story. Otherwise it's amazing and unfortunately it didn't get the reception it deserved and we'll never see it again
@@jarlwhiterun7478 Blows my mind how many people misspell this word, especially in forums talking about roguelites. Like it's your favorite genre, so a word you see all the time, and STILL can't manage it lol.
Yes cyberpunk 2077 was a hot mess at launch but honestly it’s still a great game, I’ve replayed it so many times and still end up finding new things. And the dlc added a bunch of awesome stuff
I think a good suggestion for this list would be Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order for its lack of fast travel. I absolutely loved that game but running back to the beginning of the level every time was brutal. It made the platinum such a slog to get.
It's so funny: whenever people talk about "open world busy work" it's usually an open world I absolutely loved. 🤷 But then I also love grinding in RPG's, I guess I'm just different from everyone else.
Sinverse is a masterpiece, its' similarities to GTA can't be disputed, the mafia vibes, the battle arena, the market arena, the in game characters. I'm all for Sinverse for real.
Spider-Man's open world is kinda repetitive, but i think that's relatively common with open world games. The real problem was when the game came to a grinding halt to force you to play as MJ or Miles
My issue with Mass Effect 3 was that the story was loosely tied to the multiplayer. It was a cool concept, but trying to keep all the armies I recruited at 100% just ate at me everytime I logged on
Mass Effect 3s end is not “bad”, it’s just not what some people wanted…a bad ending would be one that doesn’t make narrative sense or doesn’t resolve anything. People were just mad that Shepard didn’t live forever lol
This. Your correct The game from ME 1 onwards always discusses AI, ai is banned in citadel space the ending was always going to involve an ai and Shephard does get to live if you are of high enough Paragon.
The 'Mr. Freeze' boss fight in Arkham Asylum was hands-down the BEST boss encounter I had ever played up to that point in time, so I was able to over look the dodge/attack/repeat mechanics of the other boss fights.
Unity was the perfect bridge between the gameplay style of the older games (Everything up until Rogue) and the new games (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla.) Progression was a lot slower. Instead of all enemies having the same health and damage output depending on their archetype, the more dangerous districts had enemies with health and damage to match. You couldn't just blaze through all the better paying Paris Stories from the start, unless you wanted combat to be a long and painful affair where a single slip up meant game over.
AC Unity deserves a remaster or even a remake.
Unity parkour was the best AC ever did and I loved the hidden crossbow bolt gadget! The only thing I didn’t love was the melee combat was really really slow. Speed it up and I think it would be my fav AC
I got lucky with the launch on this game and I had zero issues technically. Always thought it was one of it not the best AC games.
Frrrr idk why people hated it so much I loved playing this ac
I loved Unity, they had the best parkour and stealth mechanics in my opinion. Not only that but the detail they put into the monuments in France allowed the French government to use the games scans of Notre Dame to rebuild and restore it to what it was after it had tragically caught fire.
and the game ending speech was fucking beautiful. i guess I got lucky bc I didn't play it at release and when I finally played it there wasn't any bugs
You mean one of the slowest parkour? Stealth does work well though and the environment is well detailed.
@@MachuPicchu95honestly I liked the slower parkour. Felt a bit more realistic for me personally.
Who cares man

T.I.T
If the story wasn't absolute garbage, it could have been the best AC game ever made
For me the Dishonored series (1 2 and the DLC) are as close to perfection as you can get (for me personally anyway) the story, the mood, the lore, the graphics and gameplay all flawless. One of my all time favourite game series
ok but for that series it needs a flaw
Me too, for me it's almost perfect. The story, the ability and the low tone graphic. The whole environment feels like a chill vibe.
Completely agree
Once u play dishonoured every game you play after becomes a disappointment because you're co mparing it to the gold standard
The bad thing about Dishonored 1 for me is that you can finish it very fast..
I don’t remember money being much of an issue in terms of the campaign but it’s been a few years
@@Deuceswild47it never was for me.
I don't get it to this day what people's problem is with that mission. Just aim, do 1-2 shots, move to next. It was really so simple
The mission was simple, the achievement was not
Man that section of chapter 4 can burn in hell
@@Hahnfruh It throws TOO many asteroids at me and I can't keep track for every single piece. I literally cannot do that mission without taking damage unless you wanna be a professional. It is a boring point-n-click turret garbage, just like the one from Resident Evil 5.
Gta V is one i need to disagree with. I loved these misons it adds a feeling of realism. Just like RDR2 farming misions. It flashes out the world and you have feeling real people live there and people have job's and responsibilities. Not just hijacking cars and robbing Banks. There is mix of content for every type of players
I think that ppl "dread" replaying those missions simply because they already know the story
TBF its a problem with any linear story driven game, there's really no replayability.
Haven't seen the vid yet but Sleeping Dogs was definitely a masterpiece.
It was perfect!
And man what a really great story it had
If developers had more budget, I am sure most of the little issues would be fixed too.
And the MJ gameplay...Those were annoying.
MJ missions are shoehorned in there to remind you that it is not game of the year material
@@STARPHASE MJ is worst female character ever. Poor dumb spidey...
@@christiansoldier77 I agree, I loved all of the missions he talked about. The martian stuff though is the actual pain in the ass
@@christiansoldier77it's just one person's opinion, relax
I like it too. If you come from the 3D universe to the HD universe I understand why many people find it annoying but it helps a lot with grounding the player in the more realistic world of the HDU. I also like the slower dialogue heavy missions in Rockstar’s games since they usually add a lot of character information and development.
I see Unity I click. Minus the multiplayer glitches hands down one of the best games I've ever played
I must say, Elise shouldn't have tried to 1v1
Nice, I always avoided it due to reviews at launch time.
Will give it a go 👍
Oh good. I was wondering if the co-op missions were broken for somebody else.
This list definitley deserves a part II!
So many games to mention, from the Last of US , Alan Wake & Read Dead Redemption to COD MW & Max Payne III.
Ugh I hated the side character sneaking missions as well
@@tdevries4290 Exactly. Slows the pace of the game up, and the moment you're caught they instantly give up
I struggled with this part as well & it annoyed me how fanboys ignored it...
~~~Plus it's a cop out that we are attacking the JLA cause they are mind controlled..how lame..
Why not just because Amanda Walller hates them... SHe shoulda did it with 1 hero we play as similar ot batman.
Maybe Deathstroke or Azrael,,Nightwing,,Catman or Catwoman i dunno......
Funny that you upload this, I've installed Unity a couple of days ago and I love it. You can feel this is true Assassins Creed, not like the new RPGs.
Combat is very cool and consistent. Gadgets, customization, riddles, cool finishes, etc. The sequence of the creed accepting you, the hideout with the secret rooms, the graphics.
It's finally time to play it.
When I played AC Unity the first time at launch on PS4, and everytime since I never came into any of the game breaking bugs that others ran into. I'm happy that the game is finally getting the respect it deserves even if it almost 10 years later.
When did you play it for the first time? I started playing it this year. Only the co-op missions are broken so I avoided them. For some reason I am unable to swing my sword when I try to fight an enemy. The enemy also had their swords out but they just stare at me. It is really annoying when the game won't do what I want it to do.
I did get stuck on a ladder which made me fail a mission.
Same. I only had some pretty bad bugs during some co-op missions, but only did like 2. Outside of some flying baskets with apples (because the holder was scared and run) I never had any issues. They were really ahead of their time with that game. And sadly never did again.
@@rakuloeDid you have the bug where combat wasn't working in co-op?
parkour is inconsistent due to object placement more so than parkour itself, patches and especially mods never fixed that. while messing around in the city is fine for the most part, strangely enough all the weirdness comes in the missions. the rest of the game is simply unfinished, Arno does not even talk in moments you would expect him to. so... yay it is a great game to run around without any purpose..
It took 9 years but AC Unity is finally living down its infamous release and getting some respect. I first played it in 2018, so I missed all the technical problems, and it's always been one of my favorite AC's.
ME3 citadel dlc had me all chocked up, it was fun and light hearted and super emotional.
The way the characters animated from sprinting> crouching> prone in MGSV still blows my mind. Never finished the game but still enjoyed my time with it.
11:12 - Blighttown wasn't hated as much as lost izalith was with me. It is a seemingly half finished area and the boss takes more luck than skill to "fight" it.
bed of chaos, only name of a boss i remember. Made me delete save and start over few days later. Blighttown was boring for me because of verticality and toxic water
Lost Izalith was a torture, that fucking lava lake is so bright that my eyes hurt by just thinking about it, it is a shame though, is cleary a rushed area, thaat had a good lore on the background, and was,in certain way, explored in DS3. But yeah, although Blighttown was a shithole because of the FPS and the fucking mosquitoes, it was bearable, some of the itens in there were worthy of the suffering, but Lost Izalith had nothing on it, all the good loot and side story in it was contained in the last section of the map, and can be easily reach by the shortcut via the Fair Lady covenant, sometimes i'd find myself going through Blighttown by the normal route, but i never go through Lost Izalith without the shortcut
Blighttowns main issue is From's inability to design platforming that works
@@malkaviiannice long run-on sentence.
Lost Izalith was definitely the jankiest spot. But hey, at least you got that big ass club in blighttown
ME3 is phenomenal. I just made up my own ending and played the multiplayer which I actually enjoyed very much
This ☝🏾
Haha same. It’s my favorite ME game. I found the overall story more compelling than ME2 while having the best gameplay qualities of the previous 2 games. Understand the dislike of the ending but all else was incredible.
For me after Miranda mission. The Citadel DLC is my ending lol. Then just my imagination for the rest 😂
Yup. However one feels about the last 30 minutes, 99% of the game is amazing. The characters are real people you've grow attached to and follow through to a deeply-satisfying (or tragic) conclusion. The love scenarios are some of the best and deepest you can find. The climax to long-building story arcs (like the Genophage) are incredibly emotional. And the Citadel DLC Mission/Party might be the most joyful few hours in all of gaming.
I find this video to be a bit interesting it shows the nature of flaws in video games and how it effects people very differently.
1-There are flaws that i just dont agree with like the weapon degradation but thats an extremely unpopular opinion.
2-There are flaws that while i do agree with they dont really reduce the game of not being a masterpiece because the overall experience was more than worth it like dark souls and OOT these games took risks and without them these games wouldnt exist.
3-There are flaws that are small in the grand scheme of things but pretty much damage the entire experience and for me nothing embodies this more than ME3, i played and replayed ME 1 and 2 for 5 years and have them pretty much memorized due to how many times i played them, ME3 was shaping up to be the cherry on top, just for the ending to shit all over it, i was really heart broken and i just couldnt and still cant bring myself to revisit the series until they address the ending in the new ME game.
For me Arkham Asylum is the best one. I love city, I love Knight except for the end of the story. But Asylum gave you the creepy atmosphere of what Gotham can be, the intro of the rainy city, the creepy asylum. I was a kid when I played it and felt chills all the time.
BioShock comes first to my mind as a game that was one step from perfect, best game of a generation, till the final boss
RIGHT!! That guy was the WORST!
Almost as bad as the soul crushing escort mission that inexplicably precedes the final boss 😅
Playing Metal Gear Solid V, you can tell the exact point in production when Kojima started butting heads with Konami. If Kojima had been allowed to make the game he wanted, we would be talking about it as one of the greatest games of all time.
Mass Effect trilogy is my personal favorite games ever. I replay them once and a while with the legendary edition on PS5. Playing through all 3 back to back is such an amazing story to get into and the characters are so good.
I wish I could erase my memory and play those for the first time again.
ME3's ending wasn't bad at all. Eliminating the universe's greatest threat by synthesizing humans.
I thought the ME3 ending was pretty damn awesome. Life is not always fairy tales with happy endings and I’m glad the game creators decided to go with the ending choices. Mass effect series is my favourite series ever!
It's among some of my favorite video games of all time too, so many good memories and the citadel dlc was fantastic. I really hope they don't mess up the upcoming game. Andromeda could've been something but the story didn't have that same energy to it and the characters were less interesting .
I remember replaying all three just to get multiple endings, not to mention a replay on the ps4. Is the legendary edition on ps5 good?
I've been waiting to upgrade for a while, to let sony iron out bugs, hopefully get a bit cheaper etc
thinking legendary mass effect and the new horizon zero dawn....
but that will have to wait until $$ are stable, lol
Honestly. I agree that weapon degradation can really be annoying, but if it's done right like in Oblivian where you can fix your own gear and even improve it past 100 if you get your skill with repair high enough that it could be more interesting
Don't Change Gameranx. You people show what you think and make such awesome content. Never make content like Disney like they do for fans and always there is that bad writing. Nailed it again you people.
Prototype had such a non existent story.. That gameplay as well as a good story ? totally masterpiece !
I remember playing it and don't even understanding what was I doing, just going from A to B destroying shit because reasons
Sick gameplay tho
I didn't give a rip about the story, like I didn't care about the plot in Dead Island; it's just an excuse to wander around ripping people apart, and I'm not fighting that. For Prototype, my only complaint was the main character was really just not likable. Mercer struck me as an asshole and the whole game feels like there was supposed to be a morality system but they forgot to put one in.
I always loved ME3 and I didn't really have a problem with the ending, either. My headcanon has always been indoctrination theory, so the ending to me just seemed to fit from my point of view (I'm aware that indoctrination theory wasn't part of their intention in the official story, but it always made sense to me regardless).
it had plenty of issues besides the ending
Legendary edition ME3 is the almost masterpiece, 2012 version (without all the DLCs that followed, with Day 1 Javik DLC) isn't even close to almost masterpiece
I'm glad they did LE, even tho it was more or less money grub from EA, I'm glad they did, and it sold great and people experienced the masterpiece that is ME trilogy
GTA V and Cyberpunk(post bug free update) r already masterpieces for me. GTA for everything it does and Cyberpunk for the story aside from great missions and weapons. Cyberpunk has one of the best stories in recent memory in which u do not lose the track and doesn't need internet to understand it later
Finnaly someone understands that AC unity is a realy goid game. killing key characters (boss fights) was 20/10 and thr combat and stealth were
9,5/10 ,its onli weaknes was its 7/10 story.
Mass Effect Trilogy is the best games for me, really love them, I just keep replaying them even on my PS3 and the Legendary Edition as well
Sub Nautica, Control, Tomb raider, and Prey just don't get enough credit. I LOVED all of them and I have played them over because I liked them so much. I agree with Mass Effect, it's also fantastic!!
Metal gear solid 5 is a true masterpiece in my opinion. Ive put over 1000 hours into it between the story, and the online multiplayer. All loose ends not tied up in story cutscenes are answered with the tapes you can listen too. The tapes cover all the secrets and hidden history.
It really is that good of a game jus take a while to get into cause it's so hard
I missed the tape that ties up the loose end of Liquid having a metal gear as a kid.
It is a great game, but it's literally an unfinished game. I can't think of anything that would knock a great game out of the masterpiece class quicker than a game with no real ending
The mass effect series as a whole is a masterpiece. Love that game
I’m so glad you included Mass Effect 3. It gets a lot of negative attention for the ending but people often forget just how amazing the rest of the game is
I liked everything about that game. I am infamous for playing 65% of a game and then moving onto the next thing. Mass Effect 3 is one of the few that I completed. Spider-Man 2018 too.
The weather in Breath of the Wild bothered me more than the weapon thing. I felt like the game started raining on purpose when I wanted to climb.
It really feels like that
I think i almost never saw rain in grass hills or forests, but every time I was somewhere with mountains to climb it would start raining when I mid climbing
It shows what weather is coming up on the screen, I'd just light a fire and rest until morning
If I'm mid climb I can't just yeet myself off a mountain to make a fire. And what if I don't have the materials? The weather system in both games is fucked.@@loz1991
Blight town is a good pick, fighting dragon butts in the slapped together lava world of Lost Izalith, or the Bed of Chaos would have been good picks too.
Although there was a large enemy variety over all, the mini bosses in the small Elden ring Dungeons could also be a sticking point, but most of those are optional.
Unity was massively underrated. When it was fixed up, the single player was great and the co-op approach to multiplayer was awesome.
Co-op didn't work for me. I can't sword fight anyone and the enemy also doesn't fight back.
To me it's Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. I tried it only a few years ago and fell in love with it despite it's flaws. Everything about it for me was just the perfect type of game I like and the flaws weren't too terrible and easy to ignore, just the feeling of wishing it didn't have them so it could be even better. I'm very happy it got a remaster, expansion and hopefully that means more could come out from it later on.
If no greedy/cheap people ruin it.
One could say Marvel’s Midnight Suns woulda been perfect if they’d found some way to convince people through marketing that it wasn’t a full-priced mobile game because of the cards. The Abbey exploration wasn’t my favorite but the combat was some of the best I’ve ever had in a tactics game.
Blighttown is one of my favorite parts of DS1, especially ahead of some of the later areas (Tomb of Giants anyone?). Of course, I did play it on Dark Souls Remastered on a newer PC, so I didn’t deal with frame rate issues.
Arkham Knight could be on the next list or on another list of games that almost hit the mark. Great graphics, great design for Gotham City, new gadgets, tougher enemies to fight, and most fluid combat in the series. My second favorite game in the Arkham series. It just feels like it needs more of the villains in the story rather than being in the side content, less story plot holes such as joker's blood turning people into him for some strange reason, better boss fights, and less batmobile at times, though I don't mind the batmobile like other players do.
I am playing through the arkham trilogy again right now, halfway through Knight. And I personally enjoy MOST of the batmobile stuff (about 80%) of it. I am now realizing where the got the ideas/mechanics for their Mad Max game and have started to appreciate it a little bit more.
I really tried to enjoy that game, but those Batmobile segments ruined it for me.
@@NoBrainActivity7068 the riddler segments, in particular the races, didn't do it for me. But, I enjoyed the tank battles. However, once you finish upgrading the grapnel, the batmobile becomes just a novelty since grapnel travel becomes WAY faster.
As I just posted - Just recently finished first playthru of Arkham Knight, I loved it and thought the BatTank missions were fun (maybe too many of them though). My BIG issue is locking the final boss fight behind collecting like 243 Riddler Trophies - BS!
yeah, I liked the game, but I feel to much time was put into the batmobile and took away from them developing the rest of the game, and I really, really hated most of the batmobile content.
Did like alot of the story beats, especially how for once Mr Freeze got a kinda happy ending.
Phantom Pain still hurts man after all these years. I don't think the pain will ever go away at this point.
Why are we still here?
Yeah metal gear solid has got to be my biggest gaming disappointment. Game was fun but the story just stops, and worse it makes you replay missions without any real reason. Then once you’re done u get what feels like an awesome idea on paper with no lead up. It just wasn’t a bad good bye to mgv but to the greater metal gear solid series.
Just finished Unity a couple of minutes ago
Still in love with it ❤
I dont agree AT ALL with the Batman pick here. If there is a Batman game with a lame ending and a bad final boss fight is Batman Arkham City, not Asylum. The only bad thing about Asylum is the combat, but that is more because City and Knights combat was so good. When i returned to plat Asylum after playing City and Knight i was shocked when i saw the difference. It was so more slow, and much less freeflowly.
Just jumped back into Cyberpunk with the DLC launch and this game would’ve been game of the year if it released in this state
Big call 🤔
The Darkness 2 is one of my favorites games. Sadly it's too short and has a cliffhanger ending that hasn't been resolved.
Game was amazing but yes to short. Loved the varied gameplay and story. Graphic style was great and hold up like a champ. Played it for the third time not long ago. I just want more
i played AC unity for the first time last year and it was the first one in the series i finished since back when AC3 came out… I loved it and it was a great way to experience the original stealth and parkour the series is known for. also Paris is now one of my favorite settings
Honestly my only realy complaint with MGSV is the constantly needing to go back to Mother Base just so my troops don't start beating the shit out of each other.
Biggest issue with Spider-man 2018 is when you don't play as Spider-man. The open world stuff does get lame. Like defeat 5 type of gangs in each location or Taskmaster/Screwball challenges got old very fast. But like Jake said, that isn't so bad because playing as Spider-man is so fun.
Funny thing about ACU is I never had a single issue. The bugs were so popular that I remember I used to literally wait for it to happen but nope never had I single issue
👍🏼
Alien Isolation for me. The details, the atmosphere, the Alien, was perfect. They hit it out of the park with all of it. However, the ending left me annoyed. We know Amanda survives but I really wished they had gone for a much less ambiguous ending.
It was also a little longer than it needed to be.
Having recently played it for the third time, I can only say: you're right@@TheMarcHicks
It nice to see people coming around with AC Unity and The Order 1886. Have a great week, GR crew and community! ❤
ac unity is garbage and anyone who says otherwise is garbage too
Community? Cringe
I would argue Days Gone. Story is absurdly long, and by the end of the game you are OP enough to easily take down a horde of “freakers” (which I would argue is something one should never be able to achieve in a zombie game). But the world is interesting and well done and I wish they would return to tell a different story in that world (they won’t).
Playing Tears of the Kingdom is a truly _wild_ experience. It totally renders Botw the tech demo that it really was.
The ''map being re-used'' is a _very loose_ term: I just went back on a 2nd re-play in the Goron region and was shocked at how different it was from the bland, poorly directed main Quest of the 1st game. A _much_ more solid Main Quest story, the whole Structure of the mountain reminded me much more of Ocarina's. Now, nearly _every_ enemy you defeat has a purpose!
But the fact that an entire new game that has the same price as BOTW even has the same stuff is wild and bad. I mean the art style is the same, the world is the same (Yes some new things but its really just the same), the enemys are the same (yeah there are like 4 different enemy types but thats it), bosses are the same (yeah there are like 3 new bosses but thats nothing). It also has the same problem that BOTW had, everything is repetitive and going somewhere doesnt feel special cuz you can get the same stuff you get there somewhere else (Elden ring as an Example has Special items in like caves or smth that only exist there). The sky disappointed me cuz the Island you start at is the only big one, the others are small and also repetitive. The underground is just a copy and paste mess where no location feels different and it doesnt have a purpose (No quests, no tree creatures, and just the same enemys in red smoke (There is 1 new boss in the underground but thats it). After seeing the gameplay trailer i thought i would be a lot on those sky islands and that being pushed down is something you have to care about, but the whole sky is useless and i never got pushed down. It would be "Ok" if it was an Dlc for like 30$ but an ENTIRE NEW GAME for FULL PRICE is just ridiculous. But its alright if you like the game and i respect your opinion 👍👍
I couldn't dissagree more,
Totk is a sequal to botw and it really just evolves and makes botw an already good game...Even better. There's a diffrent story, new merging system, new abbilities, a whole ass underground system thats as big as the main map, a ton of sky islands, new enemies and much more...the main map has also drastically changed and for the price you are paying i'd say it is an absolute steal... if your gonna talk about "it's the sams game" or " it's a DLC" then look at mario bros from 2012 to 2019 then you'll see whats repetitive 😅@@Forest762
ME3 is such an epic game! I still hum that piano melody of when he runs through the dream/PTSD sequences a lot.
Nice list. I agree with almost everything, except maybe #2 Zelda BotW - The weapon degradation was different, not bad. However, it is as you said, an opinionated list. And, I appreciate you guys sharing your take. Looking forward to a Part 2.
imo the weakest part of botw was the story, the gamplay was almost perfect except horses which nobody uses because it is horribly implemented
Weapons are everywhere. I just take out the next weapon and continue fighting.
I never had enough room for all the weapons I'd be finding
So true. Zelda doesn't need an in-depth story, just a theme and sense of mythology. But BotW story was fragmented and confused.
ACU is so graphically stunning & ahead of its time that it still holds its own in a room full of next gen games. Though the story & characters was lack luster what kept me engaged was literally everything else, the parkour, Interiors, life sized cathedrals imo its one of Ubi's greatest looking games next to Syndicate & The Division 1. it serves as a reminder that when Ubi is good they're really friggen good making it all the more frustrating when drop half-assed duds, they're masters of coming up with great concepts but either fall short of delivering or they get in their own way with all the game ks a service bs.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Combat has sooo much to offer and its really fun and engaging, theres not much Encounters/Arena’s for you to be tested, there are a bunch of builds/shards combination you could do to mix up your play-style and for replay-ability with a bunch of different weapons for you to choose from and use and yet 80% of them wouldn’t even be used in your whole game until the end
Theres a good and a handful variety of enemies but it leaves more to be desired, there is not much bosses in the game and especially there is no BOSS RUSH for an endgame content.
This one doesn’t seem so necessary but a level editor would’ve been THE BEST!
Putting cyberpunk 2077 in the same convo as GTA 5 and Zelda is a HUGE praise
It is tho, single player aspects, it is on top with these
Mass Effect 3 ripped my guts out. The ending…. Well, you know. The Citadel DLC was a masterpiece, though, and I went back and played through the Citadel DLC three times after bawling my eyes out at the end of the main game. And then did the ending again. And got upset all over again. Even with all that, Mass Effect Legendary was my favorite gaming experience, and I have another run ready to go.
I bought legendary for ps4, went through it immediately, and recently purchased a steam deck, for which legendary was one of the first games I made sure to have in my steam library. I don't think I can ever be sick of Mass Effect.
I had missed this dlc the first time around for some reason and forgot about it but discovered it with the mass effect definitive edition like 10 years later and it’s crazy that I missed the best part of the game
The only game I cried more tha ME3 was spiritfarer. ME3 ending music with Sheppard dying ripped my guts out
I guess I'm in the minority for always having loved the water temple!
When I played OoT on the 3DS, I was trying to figure out why the water temple felt so easy to get through (it had been a while since I played that game), and then I learned they "fixed" the water temple. I remember people saying they liked it so much better, but I truly did love the original (though I did like not having to flip through menus to equip the iron boots).
I'm not even surprised they did that. Everything is dumbed down for the majority.
you're not alone.
Shadow Of War. It was amazing. The only negative thing at launch was the loot boxes. They were taken out later on. Now it's an amazing game but if it didn't have that at launch it would have been a masterpiece.
Cyberpunk 2077 was a terrible game when it first came out, full of problems and bugs, but after 2-3 years they gradually improved the game.
10:00 ME PERSONALLY, I think that this is the one thing that makes GTA V stand out from all the rest of the action/FPS games.
It's not just action, Rockstar nailed it with GTA V to ridicule themselves from time to time and to introduce "stupid" missions like that yoga or port crane mission, it's genius tbh
Hogwarts Legacy needs to be on this list, for the same reason you mentioned with Spider-Man. Forced open world.
10 Single Player Games That Were ALMOST terrible
I was surprised to see Arkham Asylum on this list and then you mentioned the joker boss fight and I realized I had repressed that from my brain
The problem with Spider-Man 2018 IS NOT the open world stuff. That's what made me feel the most like "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man". It was the necessity of playing as Mary Jane. Sadly their idea of "fixing" it in the sequel was to make her OP with the ability to take down kraven's goons immediately while her super powered boyfriend has trouble doing the same, which while being better than the if they spot you the mission is over is not what we buy a Spider-Man game for. I'd rather an ENTIRE game of Miles deaf girlfriend than another Mary Jane mission. At least those were creative.
That's pushing it, but I agree for the most part.
Yeah the terrible stealth sections were by far the worst part of the game
Assassin’s Creed: Unity IS a masterpiece (after all the patches). The gameplay, map, lighting, co-op; all amazingly awesome.
The people in the comments getting angry because the author of the video made small criticisms of the games is a great example of the level of fanaticism and immaturity in discussions about games.
The slightest critique is classed as hate 🤦🏾♂️
Jedi fallen order. i've been replaying recently and the only complaint is the lack of a proper fast travel system, that plus the feel of emptinesses upon revisiting places make it seems like a chore
Jedi fallen order is far... far away from being a good game, much less a perfect one.
It felt like a chore to finish it.
@@Shadow__133The new Jedi survivor is A LOT better
@@frederikcamilodahl3551 It looks that way.
I didn't try it because I heard it runs like a brick on steam deck.
Unity has the most fluid parkour and classic combat , it has balanced amount of stealth and combat, the open world is exciting to roam and graphics are also very good. The npc are one of the best things about this game the dense crowd and variety of activities you can see
I still gush about the parkour, but i also absolutely loved the combat. It felt careful and stylish at the same time.
The NPCs clearly bring the game down. Those crowds are literally why Unity runs so terribly. All those frame rate issues
@@JFVideos960 if your pc is good then it's not a problem though
@@shadowking773 I have an Xbox so it is kinda an issue, though my Xbox has FPS Boost so that makes things better
Yakuza Like A Dragon is almost a masterpiece for me (the only 2 things i hated about the game was the usual mandatory side quest in Ichiban Confections, i hate those in every Yakuza game) and the forced grinding before you go to Omi HQ [i won't say any more for spoilers :)
I was about 65% through the game and getting wrecked by the time I found out the best healer in the game is Erichan from the business side quest. Having to stop to play and beat that mode really annoyed me. I also had how they bury side quests behind the arcade. I can not play 8bit and 16bit games anymore because the scrolling on LCD and LED panels gives me vertigo - I need an old school CRT with scanlines to mitigate it ... 😔
I stop playing Yakuza Like a Dragon because of that Ichiban Confections mission. It was confusing to me. Enough said.
My main issue with it is that you couldn't switch jobs on the fly.
@@ModestPavement I know!
I’ll always consider myself lucky that I got to play Unity almost entirely bug-free when I got it for my birthday that year. Played it endlessly over winter break and to this day it’s still my favourite AC game.
Have you played Black flag🧐
@@istofar560 I have, and the sea shanties alone make that game one of the best
For me it has to be the witcher 2. For the time, it looked great. Story was nice (as far as I played) and gameplay was not too bad either. So what made me quit and uninstall it without even finishing the story? The damn minimap. The worst minimap I've ever seen in a game. It made no sense and having to go through multiple doors (which I understand back then helped the game load other areas) to get to another area. The game gave 0 hints or directions as to where you needed to go for the next mission and it was the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced in a game. After looking at countless videos at one point I was stuck in a place for half an hour trying to get to the next mission so I just quit and uninstalled. Watched a RUclips summary video about the story so I could play 3.
So, just recently finished AC Unity again. Played it on PS4 originally, but now on PC it’s just amazing.
Story is what you make of it, kudos to making the DLC free with the bugs at launch. Personally I enjoyed all of it, my favorite part was Bellec and the clash of ideologies, and seeing Arno build himself back up. With much of the bugs fixed, the Parkour feels good and the combat feels fluid. You can’t just spam attack, but properly parry or smoke bomb attacks etc…
Unity was the last game before Mirage where I felt like an Assassin. I guess Syndicate was alright, but only when I played as Evie Frye and the Jack the Ripper DLC was really the only highlight of that game IMO.
Obviously, if you’re a hardcore fan already it’ll be easier to enjoy. However, if for nothing else you can appreciate it visually.
Origins was the last game where I felt like an Assassin. Mostly because it still kept the basic features and details of what makes AC so good and combines that with RPG elements, giving a perfect mix and balance between the two. That and the story was top notch. They kinda butchered the ending though
A lot of masterpieces in this list...
SKYRIM *WAS* A MASTERPIECE 😊
bro far cry 3 and far cry 5???? they're one of the best games I have ever played bro
1. Skyrim, Bugs and Glitches
2. Spellbreak, Balancing and Low Player Base
3. Black Desert, Toxic Upgrade System
And dare I give a Perfect Game!!!
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life(Gamecube), this is hands down a perfect game!
Rouge galaxy is one of the best rpg games to ever exist. I'd say the only problem it has was the very simplistic story. Otherwise it's amazing and unfortunately it didn't get the reception it deserved and we'll never see it again
YES!! Facts!!
Rogue*
@@jarlwhiterun7478 Blows my mind how many people misspell this word, especially in forums talking about roguelites. Like it's your favorite genre, so a word you see all the time, and STILL can't manage it lol.
Final boss fight ruins it for me.
Fallout 4: the issue being the random settlement attacks and the frequency of them
Hell yeah unity was on my mind pickin this video. I loved the story
Batman Arkham Asylum is the best in the series. The tight spaces and hallways of the mental asylum was perfect.
I loved unity when it came out my favourite by far. The customisation and wepon choices were fantastic, and I really enjoyed the online heists
Yes cyberpunk 2077 was a hot mess at launch but honestly it’s still a great game, I’ve replayed it so many times and still end up finding new things. And the dlc added a bunch of awesome stuff
Not for me. Overhyped at launch and never lived up for me.
I played after 2.0 for about 20 min, just to see if police improved and put it down again.
@@Shadow__133 it’s not everyone’s cup of tea… I’m usually in the boat of if critics and peers don’t like it then I’m gonna love it, and vise versa
I think a good suggestion for this list would be Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order for its lack of fast travel. I absolutely loved that game but running back to the beginning of the level every time was brutal. It made the platinum such a slog to get.
The horse in the witcher 3 was really annoying, I was running on foot most of the game.
Yes, but at least CDPR admitted it and poked fun at themselves in the DLC.
It's so funny: whenever people talk about "open world busy work" it's usually an open world I absolutely loved. 🤷 But then I also love grinding in RPG's, I guess I'm just different from everyone else.
Used to love playing only solo games so much,now I mix it up,games like sinverse have made me view multiplayer games in a much brighter perspective
Sinverse is a masterpiece, its' similarities to GTA can't be disputed, the mafia vibes, the battle arena, the market arena, the in game characters. I'm all for Sinverse for real.
You've said it all fren!👏... the much anticipated in-game marketplace got launched this week as well,the project is ever progressive
Spider-Man's open world is kinda repetitive, but i think that's relatively common with open world games. The real problem was when the game came to a grinding halt to force you to play as MJ or Miles
My only real complaint is the costume grind. If they reduced the amount you need to grind those I think it would feel better overall.
My issue with Mass Effect 3 was that the story was loosely tied to the multiplayer. It was a cool concept, but trying to keep all the armies I recruited at 100% just ate at me everytime I logged on
Took that out of the remaster thankfully
Mass Effect 3s end is not “bad”, it’s just not what some people wanted…a bad ending would be one that doesn’t make narrative sense or doesn’t resolve anything. People were just mad that Shepard didn’t live forever lol
This. Your correct The game from ME 1 onwards always discusses AI, ai is banned in citadel space the ending was always going to involve an ai and Shephard does get to live if you are of high enough Paragon.
@@CameraObscure wow I didn’t even know Shepard could survive…but I was a bad boy every chance I got so, no chance of that lol
@@Beep.Boop.Bop. it's only a second of cut scene showing Shepard chest drawing a breath. Guessing, allowing for further sequels down the line.
The 'Mr. Freeze' boss fight in Arkham Asylum was hands-down the BEST boss encounter I had ever played up to that point in time, so I was able to over look the dodge/attack/repeat mechanics of the other boss fights.
👍🏼
Unity was the perfect bridge between the gameplay style of the older games (Everything up until Rogue) and the new games (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla.) Progression was a lot slower. Instead of all enemies having the same health and damage output depending on their archetype, the more dangerous districts had enemies with health and damage to match. You couldn't just blaze through all the better paying Paris Stories from the start, unless you wanted combat to be a long and painful affair where a single slip up meant game over.
Ive always liked unity with the weapons and outfits and the activites with coop
