the app lags like a mofo on wireless. so if you shooting stills its ok but if you shooting video it is not worth it. i tried cause i would have loved to just wirelessly connect to see when i do gimbal work but there is major lag. on my new a7c its more do able. as it has 5gz wifi so its much quicker. still a few lag spikes but on the a7iii it didnt work. also using a hdmi monitor is easier but i mean every one has a phone. im not saying this is the go to method. just showing that it is a option and can be done.

Why do you need the convertor in between?? You can connect usb c to hdmi adapter without this thing in the middle. Do I'm wrong?
hdmi adaptor is a normal usb port... phone is usb c? so u need that thing. unless you can find a usb c hdmi adapter then sure you dont need the other thing. but it wouldnt fit otherwise?
Does it display the focus peaking and zebras?
Yes. Anything that shows on the camera will show on the phone
@OpticalNoise-Robert-Harris Can't you make it work with a simple HDMI cable connected directly to the phone? Why do you need that HDMI converter? Is it because the phone doesn't have an HDMI port? I'm just curious. Thanks
It's just how it works works the same to a computer you can't do hdmi to USB. If your phone had a hdmi port like the new Sony it would work fine. Has to convert the signal to USB.
@@OpticalNoise Yeah I supposed so. Thanks for your reply. Cheers
This is amazing thank you
Thank you too!
I am just wondering if I can record 4k footage or 1080p 120fps to my camera's sd card. And simultaneously use the phone as a monitor for framing my shot.
you can record to camera fine while framing on phone. but the phone wont record 120 p as its just recording the preview not the proper codec
if im using my iphone as my camera, and an andriod phone as the monitor, will it work?
Your iPhone doesn't have a hdmi out so how would it. U could use ipcamera to do that
Why not just use the Sony app, no wires/converter, and mount with cold shoe phone holder?
the app lags like a mofo on wireless. so if you shooting stills its ok but if you shooting video it is not worth it. i tried cause i would have loved to just wirelessly connect to see when i do gimbal work but there is major lag. on my new a7c its more do able. as it has 5gz wifi so its much quicker. still a few lag spikes but on the a7iii it didnt work. also using a hdmi monitor is easier but i mean every one has a phone. im not saying this is the go to method. just showing that it is a option and can be done.
Soo sweet, I need this
Simple hack
I have one Question ,can sync both Video into one in post Production ?
why would you need to. the video saved to phone is low res
Thanks but hold the camera still and get better lighting and focus.
Helpful....
Con you make a vedio connection your phone to your pc or laptop for photography
I'm not sure how to do that. Use ipcam
Could I use a hdmi to usbc cable without a hdmi converter?
i dont think so. your phone needs to convert the signal. your phone port isnt made to take display straight. i should try though
Great video. Gonna try this.
Thanks for this video
Can't wait to try this.
Please do this for iOS
Does this support even when filming in 120fps or only in 24fps?
no in 120 its still only saving the screen preview. its not a replacement for a proper recorder. even if you shoot 4k 24p the phone is recording 1080p as its the screen preview now the final
That video capture card also comes with an inbuild OTG. do you recommend that?
Mine didn't come with a cable but yes will be good
@@OpticalNoise i was searching on amazon. I found it with such option, think that will minimize those conversion. Thank you for your quick reply. By the way plis visit my channel. I hope you will find my contents interesting. Thank you
Pls. Can u share the link to that USB to type C cable. My question is the USB is it a female port of USB?
normal usb cable your phone uses to a normal usb to the hdmi dongle. female is only on the converter usb from phone to the usb dongle. so u need a dongle form your phone to a normal usb . so that the hdmi dongle can go into it. look for rany usb dongle.
@@OpticalNoise thanks. Really appreciate
On my a6400 your screen goes black and no face detection is it the same thing whit this option
Yes this happens when u connect a monitor in 4k. I think in 1080 it works on both. I haven't found a work around. Happens with normal hdmi monitors too.
If iw ant to record me taking photos Ina photo mode it makes me use the phone as a evf
@@OpticalNoise thank you I’m going to try it
Can u pls test out the qdslr dashboard app with this setting? Wheather that app can record video with this technique or not?
Iv never used that app
@@OpticalNoise can we control video related settings using this setting from the android device?
Thnx for this nice video, one question though
If you record 4k in sony A7iii, do you have face detection autofocus enabled with this setup?
yes you do. this is just recording your phone screen so its just 1080p. not full res like using a recorder.
Instead of HDMI converter, why not just use HDMI to type-c cable
Won't work. It needs the converter cause your phone isn't a monitor
