I think it was to help generate views. Letting the suspense of wether or not it would be accepted build up in the fans minds. That being said, the videos of their death blows are shot the same day as the match.

@@oghash4912 I've seen a couple on Instagram. It's definitely a niche trick but easy to pull off. You just need to wrap the board around your front foot and twist it like a merlin twist until it makes 360° turn and then it's a matter of committing yourself to land it. Do it until you got it down. It was part of our bag of tricks 30 years ago. 🙂 if we could 30 years ago at age 17 I'm sure you kids can pull it off. Andy (many of my generation) are the living proof.

Difference is Mike v is a respected stater from the 90s that invented tricks. And still can manage a respected game even with his funny perks where is andy was full try Harding just for the win. There’s a big difference. Mike V said he’d only compete if he could do his tricks, and went up against a pro who was capable of doing some of them. Who also approved of said tricks going in. The biggest difference is, Mike V never won. So it was never a big deal. I always felt both Mike V’s battles were a bit “scripted”. Kind of like Maltos unsanctioned battle.
Andy's "Wet Stop" doesn't break any actual rules, and it's not even close to being a manual. This was a case of "oh well clearly nobody else can do that so it's not allowed" bullshit.

@@24timerpaetdgn52Chris and Jamie have pretty much all Andy trick and pressure variations. But you never know. For him to take out Nick Holt would be a unreal feat as he is incredibly technical and very consistent. Trory had an off day but that what makes skate so exciting not in a million years did I think any would win but here we are. Nothing aginst Andy but he need to speed up a bit he skates flat going very slowly.

I think it was to help generate views. Letting the suspense of wether or not it would be accepted build up in the fans minds. That being said, the videos of their death blows are shot the same day as the match.
Pretty sure the refs don’t study the death blow footage before the game 😂.

@@noavejl917so rules are ment to be broken is the belief I see from your point of view. That’s great if that was the case. for all other sports it would just be a free for all. There’s rules to keep the game interesting otherwise it’s of putting to any sort of order based sport. I just don’t see how people promote this when if you want to do creative things and be weird go use or play in a different event that promotes it and gain followers. Not come and make a fool of yourself on front of people who want to see the rules be followed and see a fair game. Because if there was no gentleman’s games I’m sure we would see a lot of pressure flip variations that no one can defend and makes the whole event pointless.

I just like to see what creative things people do WHILE STILL following the rules. Something like the Oldschool Heelflip I find cool to see, because it's rare and still almost certainly allowed by the rules

You get so used to watching Andy Anderson knocking out the unusual tricks, that you forget he has a rock solid bag of "normal" tricks handy also
that's the difference between him and mike v. mike v does handplants because he can't do anything else. andy can skate handrails and has most of the basic necessities.

@@phonephonerson as far as I've seen he can ride switch in the bowl/ ledges, but switch flip tricks he seems pretty poor at. Doesn't need it for his style of skating so he can do em, but doesn't have it on lock compared to say Zac Doelling

YALL ARE MAD 😂😂 Andy went back into the past and pulled out old school tricks. All of y’all need to learn skate history and sit down. Literally all of street skating is freestyle. Ollies, kickflips, impossibles, nollie back 3s and so many other tricks are freestyle tricks that are allowed. Aside from the bean plant every trick was legal including the wet stop. It’s not a manual he’s literally balancing his weight over his truck and reverting. Andy is a breathe of fresh air to these stale regulated games of skate. Be different and not a robot

@@oghash4912 I've seen a couple on Instagram. It's definitely a niche trick but easy to pull off. You just need to wrap the board around your front foot and twist it like a merlin twist until it makes 360° turn and then it's a matter of committing yourself to land it. Do it until you got it down. It was part of our bag of tricks 30 years ago. 🙂 if we could 30 years ago at age 17 I'm sure you kids can pull it off. Andy (many of my generation) are the living proof.
There should be a rule that says "if u break any rules u lose your turn" so in that way torey at least could ve had a chance. Andy wouldn t hesitate to do like 5 freestyle tricks ,maybe a primo or something ,that may as well count

Difference is Mike v is a respected stater from the 90s that invented tricks. And still can manage a respected game even with his funny perks where is andy was full try Harding just for the win. He will not make it to finals night as he can’t even do a straight 8. Once he losses the ro sham bo he’s done

There’s a big difference. Mike V said he’d only compete if he could do his tricks, and went up against a pro who was capable of doing some of them. Who also approved of said tricks going in. The biggest difference is, Mike V never won. So it was never a big deal. I always felt both Mike V’s battles were a bit “scripted”. Kind of like Maltos unsanctioned battle.

Andy's "Wet Stop" doesn't break any actual rules, and it's not even close to being a manual. This was a case of "oh well clearly nobody else can do that so it's not allowed" bullshit.
@@TheDailyWipeout The rule is "no doing tricks that slide on the ground if your opponent popped his trick" meaning that if your opponent sets a BS 360 and the full rotation happened in the air, you can't defend by doing a BS 180 and then revert the other 180.
