I think it was to help generate views. Letting the suspense of wether or not it would be accepted build up in the fans minds. That being said, the videos of their death blows are shot the same day as the match.
Pretty sure the refs don’t study the death blow footage before the game 😂.

I love the Mkie V moment in the beginning. A statement that gets Andy memorable.skateboarding has no rules. And I also love he did clearly legal tricks, that predate the "classic" set of tricks.
And when one does not count (on no basis IMO), he just rips out another legal trick that wil lget him the win anyway. that is a fine game of skate!

Uhhhh, ya... it's why I stopped watching BATB (only came to this because I heard Andy did a bunch of ridiculous tricks). Seriously... the "rules" make this game incredibly monotonous and boring after you've watched a few seasons. There's about 10 flip tricks they all do (if that), and then do those tricks switch.

Ollies, kickflips, impossibles, nollie back 3s and so many other tricks are freestyle tricks that are allowed. Aside from the bean plant every trick was legal including the wet stop. It’s not a manual he’s literally balancing his weight over his truck and reverting. Andy is a breathe of fresh air to these stale regulated games of skate. Be different and not a robot

Normally id agree but considering BATB is a skill based competition, its kind of silly having certain tricks like the no complys or reverts when its supposed to be evenly based trick variety. Just my two cents though
@@everegenx the fact that these generic flip trick variations are what’s considered skill based or evenly based is self imposed and is holding skateboarding back. There’s a lot of tricks that probably haven’t been unlocked yet and we’re stuck thinking that skateboarding should be a certain specific way. People like Andy are what will push skateboarding further for everyone as a whole and the entire culture altogether.

You get so used to watching Andy Anderson knocking out the unusual tricks, that you forget he has a rock solid bag of "normal" tricks handy also
that's the difference between him and mike v. mike v does handplants because he can't do anything else. andy can skate handrails and has most of the basic necessities.
Although having watched a few Powell vlogs he ain't got a hope of landing a medium difficulty switch trick

Good game after good game this year!
Andy brings back, openness, creativity, a touch of punk attitude to a pretty corporate set up. And he brings it with all the straight newfangled tricks- and then some- while keeping respect for the traditions of skateboarding. He is killing it. Nice to see him take this one seriously. If only to shut up haters who don’t get what he’s doing. Like, come at him if you can do 1eighth the tricks he can do. He. Loves. Skateboarding. Well done Andy!!!

Torey was missing his legs today but I didn't expect that level of consistency from Andy.
Cool to see some tricks that I haven’t seen in the comp before. That front foot impossible, I literally can’t tell how it’s done at all!

@@h.c4898 well, I skate w a bunch of people and nobody got it down like Andy. Actually pretty sure I've never seen anyone hit a front foot one
@@oghash4912 I've seen a couple on Instagram. It's definitely a niche trick but easy to pull off. You just need to wrap the board around your front foot and twist it like a merlin twist until it makes 360° turn and then it's a matter of committing yourself to land it. Do it until you got it down. It was part of our bag of tricks 30 years ago. 🙂 if we could 30 years ago at age 17 I'm sure you kids can pull it off. Andy (many of my generation) are the living proof.
