Land around Terlingua (Brewster co Texas) is cheap. Mainly because is a sunbaked desert in the middle of nowhere, where there no water, almost no rain, and it's too hot to grow anything besides rattlesnakes. Currently there's a couple of 5 acre lots on zillow for ten grand.
There was an Inland ocean a little over 5 million years ago east of the Rockys. Massive earthquake caused a natural levy to rupture forming the Grand Canyon. At that time California too was covered with Inland marshes and lakes.
I'm not surprised. A guy posted to a subreddit a few years back asking what was this huge rock he'd found while doing some digging. Several of us told him it was a fairly impressive piece of brain coral (because it was- it was big and intact) but he had trouble believing us because he was in like Montana or one of the Dakotas or Minnesota or somewheres in that general area. In other words, absolutely nowhere near any ocean. But there used to be a lot more sea and it flowed through different places. I think someone mentioned that millions of years ago there was like a channel through the northern Midwest somewhere and lots of seabed if you dug far enough. I'm not sure he ever actually believed us but I've lived on the Gulf coast my whole life- I know wtf coral looks like and the different types and he had a chunk worth a good amount, especially as old as it had to be.
That’s the first thing I thought when I saw where it was then again when I saw the actual place.(on this video not inperson) Burning Man vibes all day!! That I have been to.😎

Your pretty lucky you could have ended up in a Slowjamistan prison. People need to be aware that foreign countries do not have the same laws and protections we have become accustomed to.
In order to qualify for sovereignty you need a few things: * communucations (the pay phone & Internet access); * postal service (the mail box); * citizens * border * monetary system * food / water / housing (oops)
Me and a couple friends when to Washington State. US Border Patrol wouldn't let one of my friends, Ian Berkley, into the US because of a criminal record in regard to a firearms offence in Washington. We then had to turn around and drive him back out. But Canada wouldn't let Ian back into Canada. We were forced to abandon Ian at the Peace Arch monument, where last we heard he attempted to establish the sovereign nation of Berkley, on the land immediately surrounding the Peace Arch Monument. No one has seen or heard from Ian since.

Indian Tribes in the United States are actually considered nations with a nation. They have their constitutions, government infrastructure, as well as their own police, healthcare, and education systems. The US Supreme Court stated that Indian nations are “domestic dependent nations” and continue to exist as such today. Tribal reservations actually are considered exempt from many state and county jurisdictions because they operate their own sovereign jurisdictions. Many tribes even operate their own jails and court houses.
Think Washington DC not a state within US states, this should be redpilling the masses we are living in corporate establishments that they call country, republic, etc. Legally these are nothing but corporations and we willingly comply w their tyrannical dictatorial rules and regulations and couple of owners are in full control, mascarading elections as if we choose our leaders, lol

My cousin is a home builder and he said that they find shells all through out the California valley as far up as Placerville.

Dustin. I was looking at some old videos of your channel, man you have grown up big time. Your videos have gotten much better. Keep up the good work. I like your humor too. Wish you would post more often. Be safe on your travels. I also like the information on the areas too. I’m like to know the background story of the places you travel. It would be nice if you would just posted a quick video all is well in between videos. You probably post it on other social platforms but I am old and only watch RUclips. Good job buddy 👍
Kind of a knock off of the Republic of Molossia in Nevada. Both seem like they would be fun to visit.
That was my thought also. Molossia has better infrastructure but this is new, what can you do right?
This is hilarious and amazing - thanks for introducing and showing us this! Ppl are amazing and creative.
Teressa gets us.
That was fun. I’ve known about that place thanks to yt. Just never wandered into the desert to check it out. Thanks for hosting.
Been going to Ocotillo Wells for 30 years. Just heard about this place a couple months ago. The owners of the Blu in Cafe told us about it.
How dare you come here with your negative comments. I've been a citizen of Slowjamistan for a while now. I immigrated here recently. I have a fine job at the jam station and my children enjoy going to school learning the slowjam ways. Our way of life is beautiful. Not to mention lots of jamin after a hard day's work collecting shells. The tourism industry is picking up. We get at least 10's of people every year. I think we had 37 people this past year alone. I wish I knew you were coming. I would have made you a wonderful dinner and showed you around the hot spots of our lovely nation. Too bad you miss the best Bush in town. We picnic there on weekends. We don't have the same calander so our Saturday is your Wednesday
You are a great Slowjamastani, Christina!

One question, what have you done about this Monday problem?
Haha you’re a funny lady. I think I’m a natural citizen for this slowjam nation. Is reggae the national genre of music?
A total hoot - loved watching it! Can we be sure that isn't Governor Newsom in a clever disguise?
He should run against Newsome. If he wins make all of California into the new Slowjamastan.

I don't know what Slowjamastan really is either, but it's one of the coolest things you've shown us in a long time, Dustin!
'So I won't be investing... '
LOL! What are you talking about? This whole video IS, in itself, an investment'! Until I saw this vid, I had never heard of Slowjamistan. You actually just made a huge investment in the marketing/legitimization of the youngest country in the world!
That's so interestingly weird! We love your adventures! You inspired me to start a a channel. It's so hard! Lol. Catch ya on your next one :)
Haha R dub!! Slow jams every Sunday on the radio. Slow jam concerts around valentines day.

The Sultan is doing it coz it’s funny, unique and I think it’s sort of a hidden ploy to push against the US government for sovereignty. Ever heard of that whole sovereign citizen movement? I think he’s doing that, but in a comedic way, coz its better and he does it well.
I truly wonder if he's a sovereign citizen it seems more like he's making fun of them LOL either way it's nice to have something to laugh about everything in this country is too serious right now with too much hate and violence we need a good laugh
@@FairyChild_For_Freedom-Justice The sovereignty of those citizens is questionable at best and they deserve to be made fun of. I hope that’s his intention!

It's odd that the only payphone in Slowjamistan requires US coins 🤔
Isn’t it ironic? Don’t ya think?
There are many countries in the world that use the money of another country as their own legal tender, especially in the carribean.
El Salvador uses US dollars and it’s a sovereign country.
In order to qualify for sovereignty you need a few things:
* communucations (the pay phone & Internet access);
* postal service (the mail box);
* citizens
* border
* monetary system
* food / water / housing (oops)
You can use bitcoins on phone. Virtual coins, make virtual calls.

Slowjamastan is a Micronation, much like the ever beloved Sealand, micronstions are simply places that declare their own independence and act like their own nations without any recognition, like the modern day state of Franklin.

I love that they responded in the comments and are answering questions, in hilarious manner about their country. lol. Sounds like a whole lot of innocent fun. Slojamastan seems to have a good sense of humour and are pretty welcoming. lol.
Well, we are welcoming to all WITH a few exceptions. NOT welcome: those who wear Crocs, drive in the passing lane (while not passing), and unnecessarily "reply-all" to all-staff emails at the office. Those things are not laughing matters and will be dealt with the swiftness of Bruce Lee, the strength of Chuck Norris and the fury of 500,000 murder hornets.
@@slowjamastan Hahaha, well, I am all for that, I don't wear Crocs and I only drive in the passing lane, to pass and then get out the way. I drive a Hyundai Accent after all and can't be hogging that lane in that car. It's not only unfair, but ridiculous. It barely has enough power to get out of it's own way, lol. Great on gas though.
Micronations are interesting and often humorous art projects. Check out the Kingdom of Vikesland or the Republic of Molossia who have been at war with East Germany for decades.

There's a shell out there because all that land was under ocean a while back. All that flat land in the southwest is dry seabed. Try looking around in the soil more, you'll see shells everywhere in the sand on the west coast.

Seriously, you can create an oasis, create nurseries first, trees, ponds little by little you have a reserve, a small forest , introduce farming, this similar thing is happening in deserts all over the world, in deserts of Juárez, mexico, like the mormons there, menonites near my town, most towns and cities were created out from the desert!
I think you have to have water to begin with though.
Most towns and cities were created around a source of water. Without it nothing can survive.
@@kevinpeterson1398 even the desert has wells deep underground/ reservoir, if you see bushes on the ground there's roots, and roots hold water, if there isn't you can gather water from other municipalities, just like California! Or rain water collected instead of letting it run off and dissipate

That is an absolute fact!!!
Yes but those are natives living in the US before the US took over. You are okay with another person taking over the US???
Think Washington DC not a state within US states, this should be redpilling the masses we are living in corporate establishments that they call country, republic, etc. Legally these are nothing but corporations and we willingly comply w their tyrannical dictatorial rules and regulations and couple of owners are in full control, mascarading elections as if we choose our leaders, lol

This is unique and I believe that this is the new money making venture. I'm sure you remember in the 70's the mood ring, and pet rock. My belief is the idea for some people is to be part of a novelty you can pay for a passport and become a citizen . Then over time like the pet rock and mood ring, people forget about it. in the meantime the so called citizen gets the paid bragging rights to say they have dual citizenship. I can imagine what happens when they legally have signed on to all rights of the Slowjamastan citizenship and after awhile they need to pay their taxes.....think of it...scam of the decade
