      I'm honored to report that I was just notified of my approval of citizenship to Slowjamastan! I'm saving up to purchase my little slice of heaven, Quietstormia, of which I will be the Countess of. I'll also need to work on getting citizenship for my dear husband, Count Chocolate Thunder. Can't wait to make my first visit. I'm so envious.

    I grew up in San Diego I live in Dallas now. I love your channel. You should do Ocotillo Wells. Maybe do some of the local reservoirs and tell their story Morena, Barrett, Jennings etc.

    I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. This one in particular I really get a kick out of because other than Canada I've never been outside of the United States haha! As my husband and I plan to do the rving lifestyle this is one of the place that I have earmarked to stop in to visit. Thank you for bringing these videos to my attention I find them very fascinating.

    This has got to be one of the ultimate gems for Desert Weirdness! I just looked at the map and I could make it there for a holiday weekend inside 4.5 hours. Not sure why I'm just sitting on my couch!

    I'm convinced that there is something about the desert that fosters the mindset to create places like this and Salton Sea. 😅 I definitely love it. I gotta say... it's rare to even see a full pay phone these days with tall the parts even if not working so that's pretty cool.

    This is awesome and somehow I knew it was near the Salton Sea before you showed it on the map. I guess you have to go on a sea adventure to get to Slab City?

    Still trying to catch up as I'm a fairly new subscriber. How brilliant is this? Loved every minute of it, thanks for a fun commentary Steve. Big thanks to The Sultan as well for ruling over such a unique micronation.
    Never expected to see a reference to Sealand on your channel Steve. It's visible on a good day from the North Sea ferry which sails between Harwich and the Hook of Holland. Not too far from where I live, it's a few miles offshore from the county of Essex, opposite end of the county from me.

      I saw a news story about Sealand when I visited the UK as a teenager and have always wanted to visit. I don't think my dad had the same enthusiasm for it though lol.

    About ready to move back to check all the stuff we explored as kids growing up in Point Loma! The desert was our weekend playground- Salton Sea, Church’s Chicken in El Centroid- throwing watermelons out of the truck! Good ol’ days, trippin’ in the desert!

    We just did a road trip to Yuma via Hwy 8... now want to go back.... you should have stopped in Dateland, for a date shake. They are amazing! We stopped off at Painted Rock which was cool, and I'd love to see you do a show there. Glad I found your channel today. I subscribed and look forward to seeing your other uploads.

    Slowjamastan is by no means a joke it's a very serious nation as you see we have landmines to deter anyone who attempts to illegally cross our borders. Not much construction had started when you came to visit there is much more to see now

    I also had an eerie encounter in '82 while riding my bike through the Anza-Borrego state park on 87.A car passed me slowly, driver was staring at me intensely, turned around and said, "Steve?",no, not me. He said I looked just like him and it sounded like he was dead. Both of us freaked out.

    This could have been a reference to "Captain Slow" - James May from the BBC show Top Gear. Top Gear did an episode where they drove through this area, heading toward the border.

    There is a micro nation outside of reno that does have buildings, a space program, and even its own currency. But it’s only open to the public on specific days. It’s called Molossia.

    I was thinking this was the same as another place called Republic of Molossia, which is in the desert of California and was wonder where the buildings were. But if you haven't done a video on it, it's just outside of Reno, Nevada.

    When I first saw the "catcher", my first thought you was heading out to the Republic of Molossia (that's how its listed in both Wikipedia and on Google Earth), then I had to remind myself that you DID say CA!
    (Molossia is located just outside Dayton, east of Reno.)

    I always wanted my own island that would be my own country but then you have to have a standing army for protection and an Air Force and a robust economy. That means other people and I don’t think people should organize in groups of more than 1. 👍☮️🌞❤️

      No problem with squatters because of the raccoons. No one wants to go there if they can't take all of their stale bread and feed the little beggars.
