      Californians have no clue to what rust is on cars. They tell you it has rust, they usually mean light surface rust, not the through metal type you get in the East Coast.

    Tokico did and still makes shocks for Toyota. If you buy a Sport Taco it has them.
    The 30 year old shocks you pulled off are still good. They didn't appear to leak and were a low/no pressure shock when new so probably didn't extend on their own when new. My 89 Toyota 4X4 Truck had the same shocks from the factory and they were a no pressure shock and acted just like your old ones.

    I had the OEM springs and shocks replaced on my HDJ81 imported from Japan. The OEM shocks were adjustable but were completely gone. I used the Dobinsons line for springs and shocks. I wish now I had done it all myself and saved on Labor (which was big $$$$). Thank you for posting.

    Cool video. Can’t wait to show my daughters your channel when they are a little older. And see which one will inherit my modified LC200
    Just one suggestion. Usually for suspension components some will suggest not torquing the bolts until the car is resting on the ground. The thought is if you torque it while suspension is unloaded when you do put the car on the ground the bushing can twist and cause premature wear. I learned this when I DIY’ed my lift for my LC200. Keep rocking!

    You did an amazing job! I just have some advice for you. Try your best to not use deep sockets. Shallow sockets should be used on bolts (and nuts whenever possible) all the time, especially when they're torqued really good. The reason being, deep sockets are more likely to strip bolts since there's more room for the socket to move around. Shallow sockets are less prone to do that since there's less room for the socket to move around. Deep sockets are mostly used when removing a nut from a long threaded bolt. We all know how much it sucks to remove a stripped bolt. Other than that, keep up the good work!

      @motogp2375 Год назад

      What’s your recommendation on sockets size especially using it on the LC80 series? I have one myself 97LC 40th Anniversary and looking to do a bunch of replacing old worn parts. Thanks for ya help! If possible in the Metric system as well.

    Hey Chloe.....because you are young you may not have encountered the old ''Hydraulic'' shocks. They didn't have any nitrogen charge to expand them when compressed....they just stop wherever you leave them! I still run them on my 83 shortbox 4x4 Toy the ''Little Mule'' Yours were Tokico or KYB and were a quality shock for the time as an OEM part. Can't wait to see a 3'' lift and some 285's or 305's on your 'Cruiser!

    Good Choice. I installed these on my 100 series, nice compromise handling/ride. The original Tokico’s are a lot ‘softer’ great if you are looking for a ‘Buick’ ride. I have Bilsteins on my other 100 - comparable but definitely an the harsher side. The 80’s rear look like a breeze compared to the upper shock mount on the 100’s - Toyota got cheap on that. Good news is the Eibach’s have a space for a wrench at the top stud, helps on install.
