I remember Luke from when he was a baby travel vlogger all those years ago when he visited Singapore. Now he’s a grizzled veteran. 😂 And he knows his stuff too (to be fair he knew and did his homework even then, when he was just starting out)-he ably identified the steamed fish as “Cantonese style” which is not a level of knowledge you get from most food vloggers! And that link to chee cheong fun sauce is something I’ve made myself. Not exactly the same but quite similar! It really brings out the natural sweetness of the fish. Dude knows his food man. “I prefer the fish curry” 😂 - that’s (I think) the Singaporean consensus too. The fish curry’s slight tanginess and lightness cuts through the prata’s butteriness so we generally prefer it to the heavy mutton curry.

The dessert you had was made with “Chinese almonds” which are actually apricot kernels, that’s why it tastes different from the common almonds. Chinese almonds consist of 2 types which are named as northern (bitter) and southern (sweet) almonds. Popular as a food medicine for treatment of cough. Hope you had a wonderful time here!

that’s kelong you went , not a floating boat. A traditional floating fish farm to be exact. They used to provide karaoke and over night accommodation as well.
the fish curry is a default firm favorite of most locals, so what u had was the default set prata, ur guide is my neighbour haha,hardly will u find fish curry in Malaysia with prata, u didn't try the Malay and indian foods enough tho,there's so much more to Singapore than Chinese stuff
I hope that you ordered premium char siew with your wantan noodles. Their premium char siew is made from the arm pits of the pig, which you'll get intermittent layers of chewy fats with lean meats.. the texture of the premium char siew is out of this world!! I sincerely hope you had tried that and not the regular char siew.
