I honestly think he should play a slightly longer variant. I know what he's said about not wanting to go too long, to get too serious... but he's inherently got a time disadvantage from talking to the viewers, and the more analysis he does (and the better he gets) the worse that'll be for him on shorter controls.

By the way, just had some thoughts on the analysis, but with the black knight blocking the rook check, black would have enough time to push pawn to G6. Yes, you'd stack the rook and queen to try to mate, but he's got options. It would take quite a few moves more to put him in check with his king ending up on H4, your pawns and king moving in to box him in for final checkmate to make that happen. If he decides to push his pawn to H6 instead for an escape after the knight blocks, you can box him in with his king ending up on G5, your queen ends up on D6, you push a pawn to G4 and your rook takes on G7 for checkmate. havebefore that, but it probably would have become very close had you been forced to find another checkmate.
Hikaru is way more stick-in-the-mud personality. He's great and I watch him all the time but I think alot of NL's jokes would either be completely sandbagged or go over Hikaru's head.
Okay another dumb question Near the end of the game, couldn’t black have moved his night to F8, this would’ve forced Lion to either take with his pawn or his rook If he takes with rook then black could take with their queen which would make lion take with pawn which would be followed with the king taking the promoted pawn And if lion takes with his pawn then black could just take with his king
My preferred setup against Caro is d4 then advance e5, after bf4 nc3 then after his next move just slam g4 h4 and play for trades with accelerated development.
My man, if you can put up twitch chat in that empty space. Seeing the live chat interact with you during the stream is part of the fun. Knowing this, I'd rather watch the vod on twitch to get that experience instead of watching it here without it.

I just started playing Chess a week ago, because of this series, I'm only around 800, and within 10 games I got 1 brilliant move and was absolutely shook. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but got a brilliant move before the EGGMAN. You better believe I was freaking pogged.
I'm a turbo noob so maybe I'm missing something - in that endgame, why couldn't he have taken your rook with his queen? Your pawn takes queen to promote but it's then defended by his knight.

even if he took the rook with the queen you can just capture with the pawn into a queen and after knight captures you checkmate with the second rook.
