Scotty, law enforcement says never lock your car in any parking lot with the keyless fob. Always manually lock. When you return it's okay to use Keyless Fob because you are leaving.
I own the Chev version. Been a great truck. Typical
Maintain everything and it will serve you well.
People down south don't need 4 wheel drive. Try driving up north when there's a foot of snow or more, then it comes in real handy.
@@RonBand01
With most vehicles you should use the remote. In addition to locking the vehicle, it also sets the alarm.
Hey Scottie, what do you say about buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Spark EV? Is it worth it?
The piss off is that GM knows how to make decent vehicles, but chooses not to.
Thing is GM doesn't know, it's their customers who rant and rave about it GM owners love their junk
@@bradzimmerman3171 ... they are all junk in reality. All the brands have declined in quality.
tewksbury driver na bro not Lexus and Toyota
@@thegoodfella2045 ... They have declined a bit, but nothing compared to the other brands. I'll take a Tundra over a GM , Ram, or Ford any day.
thats true.. I wonder why...
We’ve got like 6 or so of these gassers at our work and they all have at least 300,000 km and they’ve been towing 6-9 thousand pounds daily very good solid trucks
As you get older, stay away from mirrors and modern Nissans lol
@Poulton Real We have the juke, idk what the other one is. But yes they are relatively popular because people who know nothing about cars buy them because they are a little bit cheaper than the competition
@Poulton Real The Nissan Jukes are nowhere near as popular as anything else in the segment. I see lots of Hyundai Konas and Mazda CX-3s/CX-30s, they'll probably last like 5 times longer than the ugly Nissan Juke, I dont know about Hyundais, but Mazdas will definitely last a long time. The only thing they used to have going for them is that they were cheap, sometimes by up to $5k compared to others. But nowadays the price difference is so slim, there's no reason to pick the Juke over anything else in the segment at this point. I have no idea what a Qashqai or whatever is though.
Ho Lee Fok the Nissan QashQai is not the same as an individual Xtrail, the Xtrail is the Rogue though.
Got 305K miles on my 2006 Silverado 2500HD still a solid workhorse for me.
I've got 225, 000 miles on my 2004 2500HD Silverado. It runs like a champ. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a work horse.

sploofmonkey so true, well I suppose we would all do what Scottie is doing monopolizing YT
My Dad loved GM truck-like vehicles. His 2004-05 Chevy Tahoe was his last vehicle before he died. I took his 2005 Honda Accord, instead of his Tahoe, as an inherited vehicle. But, according to Scotty, my Dad's '04-'05 Tahoe was the last of the very reliable generation of the Chevy Tahoe.
They are much more reliable than the modern ones! No cylinder deactivation in 1999-2006 either.
The Accord was also great!
@@myk1_sp My friend, at church, bought 2008 Chevy Suburban, used, for his large family. He had to replace the engine and transmission with with Jasper versions. Then recently, his transfer case and differential went out and he replaced the Suburban with a 2016 Ford Expedition. I think he will get better service with this large people mover.
@cgrscott Those are plagued with AFM, so I wouldn't be surprised that the engines went out so early. However I wasn't expecting the transfer case to go so soon.
@@myk1_sp I think a lot of people, who get poor service with these late model Chevy Trucks, would own them longer if they changed out the gear oil in the transfer case and differential with a good quality full-synthetic gear oil.
They might get better life out of the transmission if they used a good third party full-synthetic ATF that is spec'd for their vehicle, as well.
The engines have a design flaw that I don't think can be overcome with better maintenance.
@@cgrscottthe engines are fine with reliable oil changes.

My work truck is a Chevy 2500hd from 2008. I got it new in 2009. It's got over a quarter of a million miles, and it's still making me money. The motor in these is amazing, and the transmission is halfway decent too. Good trucks indeed.

Great video Scotty ! Thanks for always bringing the best content
Just bought an 02 Avalanche Z71 with 157k miles and it shifts amazing. I’ve never had a Chevy before but I heard from another Scotty vid that the 4L60 engine is great and I have to move with it soon, so, glad I bought it.

Never thought I’d see Scotty talk about about GM in a positive light, wow
Bought a used 2010 Chevy 2500 6.0 with a 120k miles for great deal. Was hesitant about my decision even after weeks of internet research. Week after Scotty comes out with this video, thank you Scotty . Proud of my decision now and I love this truck
That engine is said to be outstanding. The 6.0 L

One of the best trucks I ever owned.
Outside of routine maintenance, replacing wear and tear stuff, it's been pretty much a trouble free truck. Yes, you pay a premium price 2500HD, but your getting a truck that is better suited for heavy duty towing, they are work horses, passes everything but a gas station, better than those sissy 1500s that GM puts out. Thank you Scotty! My wife has a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 22 K miles. I have been panicking since I started watching you. This video was a relief 😅
Mmm, does she really need you......
That’s all I buy for the town Hwy Dept I work at. Being the mechanic I have to work on them, these trucks are rock solid workhorses. The 6.0 engines run forever ,as do the 6L90E transmissions. Our trucks average 12-15000 running hours and 100-150k miles and never leave town, in 14-18 years of service we get out of them.
Love the new intro 👌🏻
So far my 2019 GMC Canyon Denali is serving me well as a landlord. I only haul plywood from Lowes and Home Depot. I used the 4wd once, when I drove the front wheels off a 5 inch drop at the edge of a newly paved parking lot.

Scotty I got a 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 V6 with almost 320k miles on her. She still runs great and strong. I am a huge fan of GMC trucks. Old skool is still the best way to go but I've been looking at the newer HD series. Would you recommend a 2012 2500 HD Sierra? Thanks!
I have a 2013 version I bought from a young guy, has low mileage but he took the stock exhaust off and installed a flowmaster. Kind of loud. But it's a great truck.
I have a 13 Sierra 1500 love it! Not one problem with it.
Glad to hear SK giving a good score on the 2500HD. Purchased brand new one in 2002 and drove it 16 years and 265k miles, original engine and tranny. Friends would give me a hard time saying my purchase was overkill. Kept on explaining exactly what Scotty said, extra beefy parts all over and a proven pushrod 6.0 V8. I do, motorcycles just aren't as popular that's why I don't do it anymore
Scotty Kilmer Understood, you da best ! Much love from NYC!
Scotty Kilmer do you feel the same way about new GM heavy duty’s? And what about Ram?
Just bought myself an 11 denali. First thing i did was an edge programmer and a volant cold air intake. They really wake it up. Better milage with a light foot too. Way more power than my previous 1500 5.3l.
Great video Scotty, thanks.
If I was to buy a new truck it would be a heavy duty from any of the big 3. It is the same physical size on the outside but you get the stronger parts
Ford and gm heavy duty
Depends what your going to do with it. Id rather have a 1500 if your just going drive it an haul small stuff. Alot better ride. Cheaper parts. Just because its a HD doesn't mean its all roses. There's cons. Gas variants make horrible mileage an are doggy pulling loads. Just don't get a HD truck if you have it in your head that its tough as nails an the ultimate truck. Pros an cons with everything.

Love this information! Just what I've been wondering about - also want to know about used F250 Diesel compared to GMC 2500 Diesels.
Thanks, Scotty!
Stay away from the LB7 Duramax(2001-2004). The rest are reliable motors
As far as Ford's go, stay away from the 6.0 and 6.4 power strokes. 6.0s can be reliable if you're willing to put some money into it. The 6.4 is a throwaway motor and the cores are running out. It'll be a dead platform here before too long. The 6.7 power strokes are reliable except for the very early variants. They had turbo issues but for the most part, they're reliable
