Great video seems like everyone’s else is confused by the fact that the mission versa came with two different transmissions conventional auto and a cvt and this vid is for the conventional
Because it doesn't cause any issues like the other two so nobodies ever posting in forums about crazy slippage and their 4th time replacing the cvt trans to remind people it exists
This is not a video of a Versa CVT transmission. The CVT has an offset cylinder in the bottom of the pan that sets the internal fluid level; it must be removed to get all the fluid out. Then the offset cylinder is re-inserted and the new fluid pumped in from the bottom until it overflows the offset tube, indicating it is full (very messy process). The replace the plug when done. BTW, the top fill tube is impossible to reach from the hood unless you remove components and move hoses, etc. Very poor design by Nissan.
@@erichami I agree with your intention, but for some reason the versa manual leaves that info out. They list almost every other fluid capacity but that. I had to dig around online. It's in the 7 QT range, but so that I am not liable for others' mistakes I will not list specifics about capacity, style, or year.
great thanks, i have 2012 Versa , 135k miles with out changing the transmission fluid, do you suggesting that I take some precautions or just replace the fluid directly by myself as I explained in the video? do i have to change the filter?
Ok, running into an issue where your 'intro screen' doesn't match the actual video 'process'. This one shows 'How To... Service the transmission'', but it's about 'Replacing the transmission fluid', not full service. This is the 3rd video I've found with non-matching intro screens.
anyone know if the differential is floating in this ATF or if it has its own gear oil? I did a CV lost a quart out the hole while swapping wondering which needs filling
How do i know if i have a regular transmission or a CVT in my 2012 versa. I want to service de fluid but i cant tell what Transmision i have. Fluid and procedure to service is different between the 2 :S
If you have a " 1st and a 2nd" gear in your shift selector then you have a non CVT trans. I also had the same question and asked Google and was able to find that info. So ask Google that exact question if your unsure. You can also go by the model. The SL badge normally indicates a CVT type trans. My versa has no badge on the back hatch so it indicates a 5? Speed auto. Can't remember how many gears are in the auto.
totally wrong, especially on a CVT which most nissans have now........NOTE: DONT buy a Nissan with a CVT transmission I promise you it will go out sooner then later, wifes versa is now junk at 122K miles
Nissan does not specify how much fluid is to be added after a trans fluid change, but the transmission holds a little more than 8 quarts total. Measuring the amount of fluid drained may be a more helpful reference point on how much fluid to add.
All wrong information. 2009 and up transmission are CVT. You have to remove the pan and change the filter inside. It uses special Nissan CVT fluids N3 or N5.
Do not use this video. Make sure you can fill it before you empty it!!! Haynes manual is terrible for this vehicle and this video is terrible as well. Getting to that fill cap open is a challenge that requires a special extended screwdriver and a new flexible extended funnel to fill.
Would also vary wildly based on what year, model, and transmission style you have. I think the problem is in how many Versa variants Nissan cranked out over the years.

Only thing is newer models are way harder to find the transmission dip stick and will need a flat head to open the cap
ALL VERSA ARE NOT THE SAME TRANSMISSION , HAYNES ARE CUTTING MORE DETAIL INFORMATION, I GIVE THEM A GRADE OF F+++
Agree aswell as the 5 and 6 speed both take different fluid
They literally said auto transmission service in the beginning goofy
Measure out the amount that was drained that way you know approximately how much to initially add
Or check the manual.

I say do it, 135 isn’t bad. I done it with cars that had 200 and they ran great. filter you really dont have to until 200k, it lasts a long tine

What type of transmission fluid do you use
What fluid did you use??

Interesting... and all the fluid inside the radiator is to be left there for breakfast time, no.?
this one looks easy peezy, i'm gonna do this on the weekend. thanks!!
I got a 2013 Nissan versa it doesn't have a dipstick and the transmission is acting up I need new fluid but idk how to put it in without no dipstick
I’ll have to double check mine. I always thought mine was sealed from everything I read.

Can you use same drain plug with same ring gasket
I was told that I need CVT fluid. Please tell me the brand and where to purchase.? Thanks
How many liters need a transmission oil to fill a tank for a Nissan Versa sd 2010?
Roughly how many quarts were used???

The 2012 Nissan versa es hatchback has a CVT transmission and is a different procedure than this. There is no dipstick for a CVT transmission.

Pretty sure Nissan doesn't even recommend changing their CVT's fluids, so why would you even assume that this video is for a CVT to begin with?
@@golquicjscoper yea I feel like you can get more miles out of the cvt if you’re a highway driver
I'm a little nervous about changing the cvt fluid on my sister's car but the mf is definitely slipping so I will tackle it 😤

Incorrect information this is not how a 2016 Versa is checked. you need to rename the video as it is misleading. there's no dipstick on a 2016.
Doesn't mention anything about torque tightening.
You do not jack up from that part
Dealership wanted to charge me 500 bucks to do this lol
There is no tranny dip stick. At least after 2013. I can't believe Haynes produced this.
Yea it is... You have to remove the battery tray to see it. And that's on 13-16s with a cvt
