First time listener. Masters in philosophy/theology. Former priest. Dig the thoughtful conversation... Totally agree that both ends need each other. To my mind it's the folks who can value both sides that need to try to help the outliers see that.👍🏆💛
Thanks so much for tuning in and the thoughtful and kind comment. Glad you enjoyed listening to us think through these ideas, always hope we're providing value and food for thought!!
I’d like to hear more about the impact of the concept of the demiurge, and how this concept lends itself to conspiracy thinking.. with some clear examples. Is it more or less because the demiurge concept induces a sense of powerlessness in people? Like fatalism, but somehow different. It seems many monotheists of this platonic vein (Abrahamic) tend to be quite fatalistic
Very good and important discussion. I am new to this subject but it seems like the result of Platonic thought is the problem of “the perfect is the enemy of the good”. The same problem I see in christianity…. The person in this video talking about the actual physical thing being in effect -belittled- by the platonic version of the thing, that is a big problem. And actually…I do believe this may be a big part of the problems of various neurosis & other sicknesses in our western society.
This is very interesting to me... A good conversation. How ever it appear to me that the classification of PLOTINUS under Gnosticism is problematic. As he writes against the idea of 'out of nothing and a blind will' of the Gnostics. Morover, Proclus who follows him has a very excellent intellectual edifice; Jupiter - the super-cosmic living intelligent imagination; the principle of Jupiter is indeed Being itself. Being comprehends all forms within itself. But forms in this theology is angelic intelligence and are not abstractions from posterior ideas There is an awful silence about this.
He was sarcastically trying to show how a thought process can go astray, and thereby move from a reasonable starting place to an unreasonable conspiracy conclusion.

You are in ATX? Cool 😇Dallas here.
Very cool! Yep, I'm here in Austin! Thx for checking out the video! Hopefully we'll have the next one out in a week or so!
5:41 You lost me there completely.
Regarding the Bible as false and made-up drivel is now antisemitic?
