I am really impressed with eSpares 'fix it videos'. eSpares, and companies like it helps us to value our domestic appliances with a little thought and hands-on straight forward repairing that doesn't cause us wastefully (and environmentally unfriendly) to chuck out our fridge, washing machine, etc. when something, easily repairable, has gone wrong with the item. I have an old 1970s washing machine still operating to my satisfaction that I nearly threw out until I found eSpares was able to supply a replacement compatible drive belt that was required.
However this guy is, he could teach most presenters on how to do their job! Nicely paced, good diction, pleasant manner and KNOWS HIS STUFF! Well done Espares. Nice job. (and my fringe no longer leaks!)

Everything was very easy to follow and there was no geek speak for just savy electrical people this was for everybody without an electical background - dummy guide just what the majority of consumers ordered (or would like to order). I wish all videos were like this. It was worth watching even if one didn't need it. Nice young man. I don't know about those that didn't like it but something must be wrong with them as what is there not to like about this video!!!! Thank you young man and well done on a perfect guide to a blocked fridge and that it could be one of 4 reasons. Our De Deitrich American Freezer keeps on leaking and it definitely looks like it could be one of those reasons.

Good man, I totally agree with you too Brenda.
Thank You!!!!!!!!Your info saved me from buying another refrigerator.... My drain hole was clogged with ice and the foil stopped it from draining....GREAT VIDEO
+RYAN WALKER On some fridge freezers the drain pipe passes through the insulation on the freezer wall to drain. If the insulation fails or possibly if the freezer is set to cold it can freeze and block. If this reoccurs you may not be able to cure the problem if the freezer temperature is correct.
Thanks karasnake. You are not the first to have posted a thank you from Reunion Island and our videos are viewed in over 100 different countries worldwide. :-)
Thank you for this video. It helped me fix my water leakage and learn a few other things. Cause of this video, i knew where to look and fix. Best part, i did it on my own!
@bigals2008 Could either be a ill-fitting seal at the bottom of the fridge or if you have an ice-maker it could be the drain hose from that. Also check the evaporation tray at the bottom rear.
Thank you for this video.. My fridge has been being very temperamental for some time now & my first thoughts were to give it a good clean throughout especially the seals as the door sometimes decided to open of its own accord & I unblocked the drain at the back. I have, however, recleaned the seals & adjusted the legs at the front since that never occured to me & so far so good!! Will keep an eye on the inside temperature now as I don't want things freezing in the fridge bearing in mind i'd cranked the thermostat up to try to compensate for the gain in temperature inside!! I decided to google the problem before going out & buying a new fridge & i'm so glad I did, much appreciated!!! :) (Englishman living in France!)
Hi Geoff, a simple thing to check is that the appliance is leaning slightly backwards so the door does not try to 'drop' open but naturally falls closed.
Absolutely right. However, it might not be very clear but Rory actually says "It condenses on the back wall" not "The condenser's on the back wall", hence the confusion! We've arranged some elocution lessons for Rory to resolve the issue.
cheers matey much appreciated that info presented may solve the problem of the water puddle on the front of floor building up the seals are worn and does that mean the water is evaporating out or dripping out on to the floors? kindest regards
I found a way to unclog the tube from your fridge. Behind the unit, you will have to remove the cardboard cover at the bottom. Look for a plastic tube that leads to a drip pan( this is the tube) that you need to suck or blow the material out. its better to suck the debris out so that its clear that it won't be a future problem.if you have an issue looking for the tube, find out by going online,or asking the manufacturer. I used an online search and it worked for me. I hope this works, good luck
On these models how does the fridge part get cold , I can see the freezer has an element but the fridge does not, many other fridges have a fan which runs the cold air from the freezer but this model doesn't, and any diagrams on spare parts sites also shows no fan, effectively my freezer works but my fridge is warm, all I can find online is that the fan might be blocked by ice, however there is no fan. even looking on forums I got as far as someone correctly stating their fridge doesn't have an evaporator fan only to be told there definitely is, which I don't think there is either, and now im just confused what to do and an very confused in how the fridge part actually does get cold, please help
The drain above the condenser has a rubber cap over it and there is no drain pan. The fridge is working but occasionally I get water on the floor in the back. It has an auto defrost. Should I take the cap off?
We have a large standing fridge (no freezer compartment). The door closes but doesn't seem to seal at the top left hand side (non hinge side). The seal itself seems fine and the fridge seems to be rotated backward enough for the door to close. The alignment seems out somewhere but I can't figure it out.
i have a fisher & paykel fridge it leaks from time to time maybe twice a week there's water on the floor? just want to know what causes it and how to fix it
Hi Liuvao, If there is no water inside the fridge at the bottom and it is a frost free type freezer it is likely the water is coming from the defrosting of the freezer evaporator behind the panel in the freezer. When the unit defrosts to clear the ice the water should pass to the back where it would be evaporated away. If the drain blocks there may be ice on the bottom of the lining. Remove the fan cover inside and check for a blockage and see another video for more details: ruclips.net/video/duTWh83nVdA/видео.html
I have problem with my freeze, for last couple of week my vegetable compartment is getting really cold and start to turn my vegetable in ice. But my freezer works fine it's just the top part that is turning into freezer
Mitu Ahmed Depending on the model some fridge-freezers use some of the cold from the freezer compartment to cool the fridge. This is ducted into the fridge with a 'letter box' style flap that should control the amount of cooling. This can stick and cause excess freezing.
Ive got a small mini fridge and it stopped working. There is line on compressor and theres oil leaking from it. Compressor is still working when plugged in, its just not cooling. Does it need to be recharged?
+mitmaks A fridge compressor works with a sealed pressurised system. If there has been any damage to the pipework or the evaporator inside the refrigerant gas will have escaped. If this has occurred it will need a Refrigeration systems engineer to repair the system (if repair is possible) before using a vacuum pump to empty it and recharge with the correct volume and type of gas.

Hi Dave, oops. Sounds like you have punctured the condenser as on some machines this is fitted in the side wall of the appliance. If there is no longer any cooling in the appliance it is likely to be due to the refrigeration gas having escaped. if this is the case you are unlikely to be able to get this repaired.and the appliance will be scrap. 😐

Hi Valga, it can be serious if the freezer has been punctured and the gas is coming out or if there is a hole in the liner how did it happen so can you please explain.
Slightly off topic, but i have a question having watched your video. You showed the evaporation tray to be mounted on top of the compressor. I realise that the compressor's heat will evaporate the small amount of water that generally collects there, but what happens if (as my daughter recently managed to do) a large amount of liquid is spilt inside the fridge? Surely the tray would overflow on to the compressor? (Electricity and water don't generally mix well!) Or am i missing something?
adrian mark The drain hole in most appliances is not at the bottom of the cavity but is on the rear panel under the 'wet wall'. any large spillage would run out the door before draining to the back. If excess water were to drain or not be evaporated away then the tray and the connection housing will usually deflect the water away from the electrical connections.
