I have seen BOC live many times and they have been my favorite band for many years! They are extremely underrated and underappreciated. They have always been one of the best live bands too! Chod, I started to follow you because more than other reactors, you do the deep cuts that only fans would know!

You are correct, they don't get enough recognition. They are the worlds biggest underground group.
"Harvester" transitions right into "Flaming Telepaths" another song you would enjoy.
A couple others to check out are from a live performance from 1981 from Hollywood Florida. "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" Great solo by Buck Dharma. and "Godzilla" with a drum solo from Rick Downey.

You are so right. Not enough recognition. Utterly appreciated this reaction.
The songs blend into the next on Secret Treaties. Could be called Secret Treats. Most under recognized album ever. Every song is great.

Buck's guitar solos are always stellar. So melodic. One of the best rock guitarists. Alllen Lanier RIP was a fine keyboard player and good guitarist as well. Richie Castellano, the present guitarist and sometimes keyboard player, is a great guitar player as well.

In my opinion, they're the world's best rock band. Most definitely my favorite. So much talent!

The original band is beyond legendary, one of the best Rock Bands of the 70s, period. An American Heavyweight Band that could go toe to toe with the British Rockers. I'm so glad they are getting new fans in modern listeners. Another forever band.

One of their best albums, original Blue Oyster Cult is dope. Seen them 19 times 1972 - 2012, they always put on a great show but those 6 shows I saw in the 70s were some of the best concerts I saw period in those great days for music. Another great tune to try of theirs is O'Ded On Life from the album just before this. Every song they did in the 70s is worth hearing! The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥

Every summer my father sent me to visit my uncle in Detroit.I saw b.o.c. and all the big names in their prime . But these guys were intense and the crowd was knocked out.

BOC's talent is off the charts. I guess that should be "is" instead of "was", because I guess they still perform. Nowhere near me, unfortunately, but I have seen them twice, once when this album was still new.

The Piano interlude at the end is a piece from the early 1900's, that they discovered, and inserted between the 2 songs. The upcoming tune, which the piano is the intro for, is "Flaming Telepaths", which would be a great reaction, if you have not done it yet.

You are absolutely right Chod! B.O.C are my favorite band bar none! They are one of the most underrated bands ever. Started listening to them back in 1975 and own their entire collection. You can talk about Zep, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath as great as but not many bands out there that are as unique as B.O.C. Its a travesty that their not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Chod, find as many live videos and recordings as you can; there even better live. Chod thank you for your program and enjoy your journey with Blue Oyster Cult and the many others of great and underrated artists that you have discovered. Oh and do yourself a favor and start diving into Prog Metal band Dream Theater; i promise you that you will have your mind blown by their musicanship; Its jaw dropping! Thanks

Yes, the RR HoF is a disgrace, with dozens of deserving bands still waiting to get in. They might in the future, but they will all be gone...

I have no doubt you see the night & day differences between their black & white era material(pre-1976), & their more "commercial" material. Eric sang the majority of their hard-edged pre-1976 stuff, as "Harvester of Eyes" sets a prime example of that.

wish you would have made it thru the music box at the end of this and headed elsewhere somemore. my first BOC album. Just about dropped and you dont know yet. I went on the ride with them for the next half dozen or so records and then club Ninja happened members started leaving and that shift made me sad

Nice. True, this song sounds like a lot of other songs. But it doesn't sound like Hour Of Need, the original 3.08 version, by YES ✨️🎶✨️

I agree that they are way too far under the radar in the rock music world. I list them as #1 for my favorite US band; maybe tied with Kansas for that spot.
