TAG Heuer Aquaracer 200: smaller, cheaper, better

- The TAG Heuer Aquaracer 200 Professional is a rare gem: it’s better looking and better value than its more expensive brother.
Price
The price of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer 200 is 2.600 euros. While that’s still not very cheap, it still is good value I think

Size
This new Aquaracer has a water resistance of 200 meters and more importantly has a reduced size. Its stainless-steel case measures 40 millimeters in diameter and 46,5 lug to lug, while measuring 11,5 millimeters in thickness, which is slightly thinner than its brother.
* The video mentions the bezel shape as a octagon, but as a very attentive viewer commented: it’s an dodecagon 😁
Movement
It is powered by the automatic calibre 5, which is basically a Selitta SW200. That means it comes with two small yet easy to live with downsides: a slightly outdated 38-hour power reserve and a date indication.
#TAGHeuer
Though the Aquaracer is not as famous as the Monaco or Carrera, its pedigree is quite strong. It started its life in 1978 as the Heuer Reference 844 and has been developed ever since. The octagonal bezel was introduced in 1995 and the Aquaracer name came in 2004.
Why I chose it
After last year’s review, I concluded that the Aquaracer 300 was one of the most attractive desk divers at this price point.
With the price slightly more accessible and the case size evolved to perfection, this new Aquaracer 200 steals all the limelight as a real improvement.

Watched a few reviews on this now and that's definitely the best macro shots of it,looks beautiful
Thanks! That’s a very nice compliment 😁
Great review as always. You definitely deserve much more attention
Thanks! Hear, hear! 😄
Thanks for the great review!
Most welcome, glad you liked it 😃
I was in a Tag Boutique today, I tried on the blue dial and the Grey. Both were stunning, The grey won me over. It’s smart, Classy, sexy and sophisticated. Safe to say I am in love. So much watch for a low price tag 😉
It’s a 👍 up from me
Thanks for sharing your experiences, great to hear this :)
I picked up the grey myself, but definitely tossing and turning about the blue dial but like you said grey just stood out more!
CLC Aikon and Aquaracer are my two favourite 2k watches!!
Yeah beautiful 🤩 perfect size, reminds me of my old 2000 series 👍🏻
Glad you like it!
Its a good looking watch. I may get one.
Great vid!
Thank you mr. Alon!
The bezel is actually a dodecagon not octagon. I loved the review and this new Aquaracer definitely a step in the right direction
👍👍 Thanks! I actually tried to find the right word for this shape but only found the octagon. Thanks so much for your comment, much appreciated 👍
Man it’s actually a very attractive watch. I have lots of reservations on Tag Heur, but can’t debate the price and quality.
Rado Captain Cook....another dive watch which is exceptionally well made and is a looker, especially with the red dial
I'm happy that it's reasonable
I want to update Caliber 5 soon
Yeah an updated cal. 5 would be a great step forward indeed 👍
Compared to b&m riviera, what do you think?
The Aquaracer is a modern mid tier icon. This model harks back to 2005 although I'm not sure about this 2022 bezel.
Yeah same here
Excellent review thanks! I've a small wrist (6.5"), but I've a tendency for larger watches, e.g my 43mm Carrera wears pretty big. My smallest watch was a 40mm bezel-less microbrand, but I found it too small. I'm not sure how I would feel about this Aquaracer given it has a bezel, the dial looks pretty small. I really like the blue on this as I gather the 43mm blue version is more navy than blue. They dropped the ceramic bezel (pity) but added polished centre links on the bracelet (nice). I think I might still get the 43mm night diver aquaracer, as it should wear smaller with the black case.
Thanks!
Reading your well-thought-out arguments, I’d say the 43mm is a wiser choice indeed. Love that slightly grey shade of navy blue. And the ceramic bezel!
@@WatchTheFreshFaces I must be in the minority for far preferring the 40mm size. This is a very elegant watch, and that elegance comes across far better in the 40mm.
I am interested in the yellow watch on your left.. Is that also Tag Heuer? Could you please review it? 😉🙏
Need to see this irl but it looks promising
Absolutely worth a closer look 👍
Can u do a lmparasion to the regular acqua racer 41?
Wrist watch check! Sharp yellow band
Dude. Always good to see your videos. You always give me a laugh. What about your uncle flares when he hears “Corona”?
As for the watch, it doesn’t do anything for me. There’s a lot of watches with that movement that have comparable specs and are a lot cheaper. But if it moves you, it’s def a respectable watch.
Thanks 😃 Well, we all know that family member who just keeps on starting discussions every time he hears the word 'corona', right ;-)
Oh. THAT uncle.
Have a good one.
@@WatchTheFreshFaces when it comes to TAG prices the market disagrees with you as Tag has some of the worst used prices out of there.
Nice, I wish you had the black version to show (and the quartz is perfectly balanced too!) Is the case back snap on or screw down?
Thanks!
It is, like the Professional 300, screwed with screws which are invisible from the outside :-)
Link extension? Is it a tfit clasp?
Looks great but I'll take the (no date) quartz. From another Aquaracer review
"I was recently given a £700 service and repair bill from Breitling (automatic watch)"
Damn, that looks sporty. Great dial, the strong pont imo.
You said in the beginning of the video that they downsized, but you forgot to mention the dimentions. What are they?
Also, you should talk sometime about buying pre owned, think it works very well with the brand TAG-Heuer, as they tank in prices. Bet this one will also, so it will be even a better deal given a few months/year
I believe the watch face is 40mm.
He did say the dimensions. 40mm in diameter with a lug to lug of 46.5mm.
Thanks for sharing guys!
I've always shied away from pre-owned for two main reasons.
First, they're often single pieces meaning that the video will have little value as soon as the watch is sold.
Second, this market is very much determined by sellers and their tricks. It would require me to fully trust on the information the seller is providing, which would be contrary to my principles.
By far most sellers of vintage watches are swindlers - and not as much fun to work with as you might think...
What about lug width anyone know?, the 43 version has oddly 21,5 mm lug width
@@Fervor1878 20mm
Has it got a seiko movement?
Hi! Great video man! I'm planning to get one in a few days... Is my money worth to buy Tag heuer? (Particularly for a Aquaracer calibre 5 40mm) Thank you!
Hi Lex, oh yeah, I think that would be a great choice indeed! Quality is unquestionable and I do think the looks are worthwhile as well :) Do you have a specific colour in mind?
When it comes to watches using this movement, a couple of other companies offer good watches as well, sometimes a bit cheaper (like Oris, Frederique Constant, Sinn, Doxa) and a lot more, though I think this Aquaracer offers quite a great package overall.
@@WatchTheFreshFaces yeah the color blue one.. Does the Oris and others is in Tag Heuer level? Thank you!
@@rovzdr Oh yeah, quality is quite comparable!
I like everything, except, the bezel looks plain. I think the watch is a great addition to TAG's collection, but I lean towards the Carrera and its styling.
Thanks for sharing! Agreed on the bezel
It's actually a dodecagon shaped bezel but who's counting
Can you compare it to the aquarace 41 ? Why is this much more expensive? Thanks
Is it that much more expansive? Not sure, seeing this... www.tagheuer.com/nl/en/timepieces/collections/tag-heuer-aquaracer/41-mm-calibre-5-automatic/WAY211C.BA0928.html
The same one in black it much cheaper is there any difference beside the color?
Nope, just the colour for as far as I know. Same price as well if I’m not mistaking…
Black is quartz movement..
I agree. Ceramic bezel is a must.
Like your channel and your video here. Interesting, the bezel actually has twelve sides which makes it a dodecagon-shaped bezel (LOL). So it's a dodecagonal-shaped bezel. Dodecagon sounds like "Dogecoin". :-)
Blue versus black. Which one would be your choice?
Good question! I'd go for this blue one - such a vibrant colour! I mean there are so many black divers out there, the watch would instantly be a bit more, let's say, normal :)
How about you?
Is there a real on the fly micro adjust like the 43mm?
Nope, it's a small spring bar, but quite an easy fix for any watch enthusiast still 🙂
@@WatchTheFreshFaces not for that kind of money. And I own 4 Tags. Very stupid move on Tag's part. Major selling point.
It is strange for them to introduce the on the fly micro adjust, then not use it on their new models, bummer
@@cjammer18 one of the reasons I wanted another Aquaracer. Not so sure now.
It does have micro adjust, check out the chislom hunter review.
Can you put the link for this watch? Thanks.
Sure, its in the description :)
Nice review, but the shape of the watch is an dodecadon, not an octagon!
It's not an octagon which has 8 sides. Should be a dodecagon with 12 sides
Small point, but significant: the bezel is NOT octagonal - it's decadohedronal. Count the sides: 12. :-)
Small point, but correct indeed! Thanks for sharing, I noted it :-)
Is the blue in this watch light blue ?
Not really, it’s quite deep, sort of royal blue but glossy as well
@@WatchTheFreshFaces is it the same blue of the regular aquaracer 41?
The clasp isnt as good, no ceramic bezel and not 300m. But yes far more wearable for those with smaller wrists, I think the 43mm on bracelet is prob too heavy too if its over 200g
Thanks for sharing your view! It actually weighs 145g :)
@@WatchTheFreshFaces no I mean the 43mm version weighs a lot. 145g is perfect.
ETA or Sellita? Some say it has the ETA while some say it has the Sellita.
They use both, but ETA has been cutting deliveries, making these watch brands rely more and more on Sellita. It's basically a copy.
@@WatchTheFreshFaces i see.. thanks for the info, Sir. I bought this model (200m aquaracer) back in March, the shop personnel told me , mine was the ETA 2824. Just asking for your opinion, if some of the same models are using ETA 2824 and some are using Sellita SW-200, which one do you think is more reliable? I hope mine is the more reliable one. 😅
@@razmanrazak8680 Now that's a great choice, congratulations on a wonderful watch. I'm quite sure you'll enjoy it for years and years!
In terms of reliablity it doesn't matter, I was told by several engineers who've been working with and testing both Selitta and ETA.
And about the shop personnel, I'm afraid there's no way they can tell which one is which. Unless they opened the watch and the movement... But I honestly hope nor expect they did not do that 😅
The problem is the movement and price .You can buy a Longines for 1k less and have a better movement and price with a much longer power reserve and ceramic bezel.
Hey man when you say desk diver do you mean it’s not suitable for diving etc? Most divers now seem to be mere jewellery for men so I wondered. Take the Rolex sub. Whose gonna dive with a ten grand watch. It’s pretty stupid.
Well it is suitable, one could dive with it, but indeed, as you mentioned... next to no one is really doing it 🤣
prefer the 43mm, even with my 6.7" wrist. diving watches look better big, and the 43mm sits so well on a small wrist. No to mention the ceramic bezel which is a must for any diver for me
Thanks for sharing! 🙏
How much it weights?
Ok so I had to ask this to Tag, but great stuff - I got a reply! It weighs 145g :-)
if they at the very least get these movements COSC certified then they are ready to compete with the likes of breitling
COSC would be a nice touch indeed, larger power reserve as well. Orrrr an in-house beater like the Tudor MT5601 or Oris Cal. 400. With their firepower, TAG Heuer should be able to pull off that feat of strength..
I wish the 200 had the fisheye magnification for the date. I love the smaller 40mm size
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Totally agree on the size
TAG please give me the white dial no date quartz version as an automatic and I am in!
I'd love to see that as well! To bad it'll never happen :(
@@WatchTheFreshFaces silver not white dial - my fault... but why do you think this will not happen? At least there is a 43 mm ceramic bezel version with a silver dial perhaps some day, hope is the last to die.
@@MpSSpeaker That colour could happen indeed, but not without date I'm afraid... they'll just keep using the Selitta movement I think...
@@WatchTheFreshFaces yes but I'll keep dreaming. I don't know if there is a no-date version of this movement but there are watches out there with the SW200 and no-date, perhaps with a ghost position something a bigger manufactures would hopefully never do
The price has been increased 😂
Looking great.. But price seems to be at 2.6 k....
Ok that's weird, they changed the prices pretty quickly then. Here's the copy directly from the press release: WBP2111.BA0627 2.400. But you're right, I just noticed from their website. Thanks for letting me know, I changed it in the description below!
Very nice , but like my formula one better❤
Biggest problem with TH are their movements. In this model it's a Sellita SW 200. In a 2900EUR watch?! Sorry
Royal Heuertilus
Hail, hail 😁
Slightly outdated PR !!! That 38 hours is embarrassingly bad in modern terms. They’ve nailed the aesthetics here though
Agreed :-)
Probably a minimally decorated or finished base version of the Sellita 200 movement as well.
Nice watch yes luxury watch don’t think so to me luxury watch is a brand that starts at around $5,000 and goes up to around $50,000 for example Rolex or Omega ultra luxury starts at $30,000 to $250,000 for example Patek Phillip and crazy extravagant are you insane in the head Richard Mille that starts around $200,000 and up to around $3,000,000 yes that’s six zeros I am in the humble Rolex and Omega level 😅😅😅 sorry don’t want to sound stuck up after all I am watching this video because I am considering buying a Tag Heuer but I just not sure about it
Longines Hydro conquest is better looking with a better movement and much less money.
"...this is the sort of watch that will last a lifetime..." 😂😂😂😂😂
Are you on drugs?
Absolutely, Amsterdam native
stop straining your face, it looks really uncomfortable
I'll try 🤣
Still overpriced...
😅
