Similar recipe is made with jaggery instead of sugar, the recipe is called as "PrasadAnnam" in Telugu. Its made as Naivedyam or Prasadam to 9th Day of Navaratri for "Siddhidatri Devi". But i was not getting what's this recipe called in Kannada, and now i get it. Thank You So Much!
But for phirni the rice quantity is less that is for 1 litre of milk only 50 gms of rice is taken soaked for half an hour and ground to coarse paste and added to boiling milk and cooked. Served in matka chilled.ofcourse sugar is added but usually khova is not added,it is just to give richness.So phirni is bit different. I would name it as rich rice payasam

It's actually called phirni in North India. If served in small maktas, chilled or room temperature tastes much better.
