    Thank you so much for making this video! My wife’s car wouldn’t start while she was running errands, and I had to replace her starter in the Target parking lot. Great job mentioning all the tools I would need. You made it much easier. Muchas gracias mi amigo!

    Dude you are a life saver! My gf and I followed the process step-by-step and it went perfectly! Also learned a massive amount about our car, and had fun while doing it - THANK YOU!!!
    To help others diagnose: Our car was struggling to turn over for months, would try to start the car and the car would make "whirring" sounds. Would often turn over on the 2nd attempt. A week ago it got worse suddenly, only turning over on the 6-7th attempt. Later that day it completely stopped cranking when trying to start, only the relay would click. After replacing the starter motor, now our baby starts first pop with no troubles.
    Some advice for others like us with no car knowledge: Give yourself about 3-5 hours for the job, we used numbered sticky tapes to label everything we unclipped as we went, which made it way easier to clip everything back together afterwards. For our car, every bolt was able to be loosened by the world's tiniest ratchet EXCEPT the 2 bolts that held the starter motor in place - we needed a torque wrench to loosen the bolts (and apparently you are meant to use a torque wrench to retighten the bolts too (45nm for the back bolt and 68nm for the front), so make sure you have one on hand. Also, be mindful off the tubes with coolant in them - when my gf was re-attaching them, the coolant poured out which then flicked up straight into her eye (lol)

    Hello there , Great video, we replaced the starter(from Auto Zone) on a 2012 Honda accord successfully. The instructions were straight forward and allowed us newbies to replace the starter. Everything was great in the beginning, the starter worked beautifully. However, last few days I can hear few additional revs before the engine starts. Any suggestions on what may be causing this ?

    If one were to pay a mechanic to replace the starter, which is more expensive, a starter replacement on a 4cyl model Accord or a starter replacement on the 6cyl model? Watching these starter replacement videos, it looks like many more things are in the way that needs to be removed on the 4cyl model. Is that correct?

    Question… my starter has been grinding after starting on cold starts only but I bought new oem starter anyway. Then I read online it could be due to a bad vct actuator since no grinding when engine is warm. Also, car never had starting issues. But today cel, vsa lights turned on, running sluggish with P0339, P0300, P0302, P0303 codes. Should I change the crankshaft posn sensor or install the oem starter? Thanks.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Год назад

      if your accord is 2008-2009 2.4 you should go the dealer they my fix it for free, sohw them the codes and the other lights in the instrument cluster, now if you only have p0339 then you have to fix it on your own, they have a servise bulletin.

    • @JC-ov5pt
      @JC-ov5pt Год назад

      @@JM-AUTO I only saw the Honda accord 80-12 service bulletin for V6 and it only extended warranty to 8 yrs. Anyway, i found a RUclips video on how to relearn crankshaft pos sensor, followed it and it worked. No more cel and the engine runs smooth again. We still have that grinding noise after cold start so we should replace the VTC actuator as well. Do you recommend replacing it along with the chain or leave both alone? Ive read that the problem comes back even after replacing the chain. But I’m also concerned that the grinding will throw off the timing again and stretch the chain.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Год назад

      @@JC-ov5pt in my experience: every time i have replaced a vtc actuator, the rattle has not come back but some times i have replaced the timing chain at the same time, that will depend on how loose or tight the timing chain looks for me when i put the engine on time, when timing chain is fine it is hard to put the actuators back with the chain unless you take out the tensioner in the bottom, so you have to open it first before deciding to replacing it or not. if you have any other question dont hesitate to ask.

    • @JC-ov5pt
      @JC-ov5pt Год назад

      @@JM-AUTO I’m not looking forward to replacing the actuator (and chain). But I appreciate the offer and will definitely contact you if we have questions. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

      if you see the green key while cranking then that might be the long crank, you should scan the immobilizer system for codes, eve though there are many other resons why a car can have a long crank but this one bight be your issue.
