I just love the story that Chris and Edge were like "They need to go over" and Cena was like "Nah." Because It really makes you wonder at what point Cena went "Huh. Maybe they should have gone over?"

According to Chris and Edge he knew immediately after and acknowledged as much to them. Pretty sure he knew they were right beforehand too though ☹️

Simon could talk about a door knob for an hour straight and I’m fairly certain it would be entertaining as hell. This man is so equally charismatic and wholesome, I love it.
Suggestion for next retro ups and downs: Unforgiven 2006. John Cena vs. Edge, D-X vs. Vince and Shane and Big Show. Trish and Lita also had a great match
Royal Rumble 2014 next (CM Punks' last wrestling appearance before returning)
TNA Destination X 2008 so Simon can watch Shark boy and Curry man vs 3D as well as Samoa Joe, Christian and Nash vs Angle, Styles and Tomko.
Simon, we all like you more than you imagine so for the love of the wraaastling gods PLEASE take some time off before you burn out!!!

It's to early to do reto AEW. Usually retro means 10 to 20 years. He needs to do more TNA though.
@@dmichael1172 In this context "retro" just means older than a week. Kinda. So many people hooked on AEW now never got to experience All In - and now it has a much larger historical significance than it did back then.

Gareth deserves it too. He does a great job. Simon is a legend of course and impossible to replicate but Gareth has done well in making NXT his own thing

I have to say, I've always felt that not only should the Nexus have won, but that they should have swept Team WWE 7-0, with Daniel Bryan being the last one eliminated. They still could have kept the Edge/Jericho vs Cena stuff, and Miz attacking Bryan too.
The original plan was them to win. Then Cena decided he should go over. Typical. This is why he ruined WWE and why it's rubbish today.
Lucha Underground Ultimate Lucha Tres. Some of the big names that are now in WWE, AEW and IMPACT all wrestling each other with some great Soap Opera level storyline. Tres is also the longest of the Ultimate Luchas and has some CRAZY matches.
This has got to be the funniest all around episode from Simon...I was dying the whole video

To everyone saying "Nexus should have won" let's all realize "SuperCena Strikes Again" is what made CM Punk so angsty 1 years later. If Nexus stopped SuperCena, the Pipe Bomb wouldn't have carried so much weight

Don't take it the wrong way I'm with Simon in the "I don't want to see anyone loose their job" but the fact that Otunga all the realises in the last year and half over some of those guys is just the strangest thing

Team WWE winning was the wrong decision. And John Cena should've known that sooner. Even Edge and Jericho knew it was the wrong decision. If you're pushing talent, or in this case a faction, losses will not cut it. They have to get major wins.

That SES vs Big Show squash needs to be mentioned on BTE at some point soon since everyone involved in the match except for Mercury are in AEW now.

Hey Simon, I'm guessing that David Otunga is probably one of WWE's corporate lawyers and still under contract for wrestling when needed!!
While Wikipedia is far from a concrete source, it DOES say that Otunga is still contracted as a panelist and commentator.
I know I keep telling you to do the first WCW / New Japan Super Show from ‘91 it truly is retro and you will love the matches that are on it, even if you don’t want to review it you have to do yourself a favor and watch it Simon, it really was ahead of its time and was a blueprint for what wrestling was going to become
You had it right Simon. There was a "sensual" tension with Sheamus in his segment with Kane. They want us to forget, but we remember what "Kane" does to people in Caskets, and Pepperidge Farm also remembers.

Next ups and downs should be either In your house final four with the focus on the rise of Stone Cold as the guy, Summer slam 97 with The Undertaker VS Bret Hart for the WWF Championship, or the episode of Raw where stone cold kidnaps Scott Hall.
I want to see Ups and Downs for one of Simon’s shows. I don’t even care which one.

If I had a choice between watching as much wrestling as Simon does for a year and punching Haku, I think I'd just get the beating over and done with.
WCW Great American Bash 1991
One of the greatest burials in wrestling. Though, I doubt they would be over, even if Cena allowed them to win. Perhaps, Barrett with the right booking. Everyone else on the team was mid-card maximum.
Armageddon 2006
Something I noticed about Sheamus. Was that he got better, each time he won the WWE title. I didn't really click with him early on. It seemed forced to make him look strong. But he got better and better, and I'm a fan of his now. He is definitely one that got better as time went on. And he isn't the only one.
The 2 out of 3 falls match he had with Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules 2012 moved him up massively in my ratings. Having a great match with DB is one thing (when given proper time not 18 seconds) but the fact he even managed to have a great match with Big Show later in 2012 was all the more impressive. He’s never quite got the credit he deserves for the title run

Sadly, Kane and Sheamus never had a feud. Damn...they could have had a banger of a match and a mental feud.

Otunga I believe is working on the internal team of lawyers in WWE I believe. He did practice law, and I remember reading news stories after his wrestling days were numbered he was moreorless under Jerry McDevitt. If that's the case, then this guy has a helluva future.
