- today i upgrade this razor e300 i got for free to run on 36 volt drill batteries. the results are SHOCKING! i literally daily drive this scooter now to go to the store and get parts and stuff!

Those scooters were a nightmare 😅
They had a chain and were sooo loud. And they went like 5 mph.
I got mine going 30+ mph on 48v brushless motor

The wheels are tiny, and it’s already sketchy enough at 40. I changed the gearing so it tops out at 30 and it’s a lot more fun, it feels like it has infinite torque. Those roadrunner pros look fun.

Had one a few years back I modified with a 1000w motor and straight lithium. Thing did like 25-30, but here's the thing.... I didn't have a speed controller. I had a set of relays. That bitch was on or off only. Would throw you off of it haha

@@skidwarfarebo2171 It was stupid. No fuses on packs, all solid wire. To get going you'd hold on for dear life, push off as best you could and smack the "throttle" open. You'd then wheelie where you'd release the throttle and smack it again once you hit the ground. After 1-2 wheelies, you'd be at top speed and all was well. Lasted a good 4 rides before the contacts welded solid on it. It's been permanently disassembled due to nearly breaking both my knees. Went around a corner on it and the back wheel being plastic broke loose and dropped me. I couldn't sit for a couple weeks. I build normal ebikes now and scooters with throttles.... Latest build is a dual suspension dual rubber tire scooter with the my1020 style brushless that'll do about 40-50 on 72v. Really fun and actually safe.

What you did is called a shunt mod and it's actually pretty dangerous. It essentially overloads the controller to take more voltage than it's rated for. You just made a bomb. Lmao

Yah, I did that. I used a 40v chainsaw battery and threw away all the electronics. If you keep the circuit board it's better to get some multi-turn potentiometers and find the circuit diagram on somewhere like endless sphere forum. Then you can save the battery low voltage cutout by moving it up for 36v, and adjust the amperage too. (You can also just buy an 800w 36v controller 🤷🏼♂️)

That's actually so funny because I got a very similar one a couple years back from the dump (it was red, and smaller. Seems like it has a smaller motor and doesn't have active cooling)
But I went and took it apart to figure out what was wrong with it. Number one the batteries where dead, very dead lol
And two, they had already jumpped the circuit like in this video lol
But the relays had become completely burnt to a crisp from the high power.
So I started with putting in two Ryobi batteries, got 3 commercial hvac contactors I had around, and wired them to connect the motor either with the two in parallel or series. First position on the throttle was parallel, second was series.
That worked great! Other than the fact that the two Ryobi batteries when fully charged where putting 42 volts to a 24 volt non cooled motor lol
The motors got hot real quick. Soo after a while I went and bought a cheap speed controller from Amazon and wired it up. It's a 30a controller, so it limits the power to the motor, which keeps it *a ton* cooler. And I have 0-100% throttle control too!
Later on I added a couple relays again and added dynamic breaking using a boost converter to charge the batteries off of the kinetic energy while going down a hill. Need to work on the chain to get it to really be able to slow you down since it's only as strong of breaking as the chain tensioner can hold back.
But gosh dang! I've probably put over 60 miles on that little thing over the past 2 years haha
I use it to ride around at work all the time, since I usually have to go all around a large property to work on stuff.
It's cool seeing more little things like that! Haha
I was riding one of these when i got hit by a car. Twisted the whole back end of it. Got a nice settlement out of it though 😂

I've wired the extra batteries from another broken scooter in series until the speed controller was burnt out. Then I wired it directly to the motor with a safety cutoff wire to loop around a leg. It had 2 speeds, on and off. Eventually the motor melted.
Okay I mean I probably would have just used to 36 volt speed controller off of eBay and a hoverboard battery. It work good on a mx250 electric dirt bike

I only used it as a temporary setup so I can upgrade to actual batteries later lol
Lithium batteries are problematic because they deliver too much punch (discharge rating). A typical powertool lithium battery has a discharge rate 5x higher then an SLA battery because your power tool needs torque not speed. With no clutch in a ride-on to buffer that punch motors get cooked, other parts can be damaged, and it's just dangerous. Guess you didn't do enough research or just watched a bunch of people who have no idea what they are doing.
