You mentioned to ask questions for video suggestions. Would you ever do a video looking at repairing hair plastic doll cracks / separated joins such as on pedigrees etc.
Ahhh... Thank You VERY, VERY much for the video. I'm curious, how do I measure the doll's eye, so I can order the correct size? Do I just use calipers or is there a 'size chart'?
excellent, thank you. The hot water won't hurt the rooted hair? I am trying to fix the eyes on a Ginger doll. Big problem is getting the black backing to stay on the eye socket. I have closed the eye socket a bit, in order to hold the eye, and now the backing will not stay.
I enjoyed watching this video. I have a Roddy doll whose eyes were pushed in many years ago by my small cousin. It has been sitting on my mum's bed for the last 50 odd years. She has now moved into a residential home and made me promise to take it home, which I have. I would like to repair the eyes but didn't know where to begin until now. I don't know whether I will need new eyes or if I do where to buy them.
Hi. Are you in Australia? If so I could speak directly to you and provide advice. Or use WhatsApp to call me 0439555514. Also if you could send me a pic of the eyes I might be able to see if you can repair them or need to replace them.
I have a deluxe reading vintage doll you move her arm and her mouth moves. Her eyes are loose and the eyelashes fell out. I was gonna glue eyelashes back in…: can I even take the head off the body since the mouth moves with the arm ? And do I need new eyes since they’re just loose ?
Hi. Once the eyelashes are in place they might stabilize the eyes so they don't seem so loose. I would also need to see the doll to tell if you can remove the head or not. There is a good chance that there is a control mechanism that runs between the arm and the mouth, but sometimes they can be simple and possible to disengage. However, not always so don't force things. Does the doll have a manufacturer name and/or number anywhere on it? Can you send me some pics? Send them to kittykruup@hotmail.com
Hi Eva. In what way is the eye socket damaged? If it is torn at the back you can repair it with some silicon sealer. Applying it by going in through the neck opening and applying it to the outside back of the socket so it doesn't alter the depth or shape of the inside. If the socket is simply stretched and so the new eye sits too far back, then put a little washer into the socket before adding the eye, this will push the new eye forward into a better position. There are other things that can be done as well, but let me know in what way the socket is damaged. Thanks, Kitty
Is that the part with the Iris? It could be that the little bits that act as rockers are worn. They stick out either side of the eye and sit in slots which allows the eye to open and close. You might be able to remove the entire eye and fix it. But first try pulling the eye forward and see if it will re engage back into the slots just in case it has simply popped out.
@@hobartdollshospital1720 Thank you for your response. The whole eye is loose, as in it moves easier than the other one. It also has that lazy eye look occasionally.
Hi Suzanne. The best way is the measure the eye aperture in the doll. Measure it horizontally from corner to corner. or, if you take the old eye out first them measure it horizontally as well. This can be difficult as the eye is curved. A compass with the two pointy tips is good as you can position it directly onto each edge to get an exact measurement. Eye measurements are usually in millimetres. Some have it written on the back. So its also worthwhile inspecting the old eyes. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further advice or information.
I wished I had watched this before I replaced my doll's eyes!
Thank you so much , I really needed this information ❤

Thank you. From Lancashire, England. X
My eye is wiggly in the actual eye itself. Ideas?
