I live on the coast and it is everything the presenter said and more. The only thing I can add is that time seems to stand still here. While walking on the beach you live in the moment only and lose all sense of time. I highly recommend the experience.

As others have said your recap of living on the coast spot on. We are fortunate to have retired a couple of years ago and live in Oceanside. There is not a day that goes by where we look left and right on the beaches and feel we are on a deserted island with beach to ourselves. The beauty is unmatched anywhere. A NatGeo photographer lives in Oceanside and claims it is the most beautiful place in the world. I am amazed however how many people do not take advantage of the outdoor activities one can do here, from fishing in the surf, rivers, and jetty’s, to kayaking, boating, crabbing, clamming, hiking, mussel foraging. I think the Oregon coast is the best kept secret. I love the fog rolling in during the summer. One thing we also notice the clouds and sky are always changing during the day and much more dynamic than the even gray that Portland has (our son lives there). And typically the high and low for the day may only vary 5-10 degrees. I have a question if I may since you are a realtor. Is it true the typical coastal realtor will only show properties they list, to perspective buyers, versus showing their buyers properties listed by other realtors as well? That is what we are experiencing in our area on the coast. Very unlike what we were used to in California. Thank you.

Hi John! Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you love the Oregon Coast as much as I do. :) As far as Realtors only showing their own properties- I suppose realtors everywhere can choose to prioritize their own listings, but a GOOD realtor, and ethical realtor, will show a client ALL of the homes that might meet their needs, and help them decide which to make an offer on. No realtor has ALL the listings in an area, so if a realtor is only showing their own listings, I would RUN. Let me know if you're looking for a realtor that will put their client's needs first!

It rarely rains from July through September.
There’s huge sandy beaches there. Massive sandy beaches up and down the whole coast.
She’s right about sneaker waves and rip tides.

    Great video.
I've been listening to "Radio Garden"& picked "The Otter" radio out of Depoe Bay. I live in Denver & am enchanted by y'alls coastline. Mountains are great but your ocean is fantastic! So are whales!
So if you would do one on the tiniest harbor in America that'd be great!

Maybe interested in your services, but not for 5-6yrs. Will be moving from Canada to the Tillamook area. I will keep track of your channel. Great video. My wife is American and her family lives in Oregan. We visited during the last superbowl. Go KC❤ anyway as a Canadian raised in a cold climate, i fell in love with the coastal area. The fog in the mornings was something else.

I5 Corridor is not the center of Oregon. Please study a map. There is plenty of Oregon east of the Cascades. Otherwise, great video. Thank you.

We lived in Coos Bay, Oregon, for a short time from the end of 1980 to the beginning of 1982, when we moved to Kansas. We were told to watch out for the 7th wave. For some reason, that one would be bigger, and stronger, and really knock you over. The one thing we hated was how cold the water was. It was as though the water had melted ice cubes in it! We were from the East coast and enjoyed swimming, but we didn't do that in Oregon.

A lot has changed since 1982, but the water is still cold! 😂 Most surfers wear wetsuits. 🏄‍♀️

I moved to Newport 30 years ago. I'm a credentialed professional. I married someone who was born here. Between us, we've raised seven children. From as early as we could discuss the issue, we've told all of them that they could not stay in Newport. Honestly, unless you have some credentials, the incomes here do not support a happy life. They have moved to the Willamette valley and California and all are doing well. The high cost of living and lack of jobs that pay a decent wage that can support a life here are a problem. There are some large businesses such as Georgia Pacific but the mainstays from the past like commercial fishing are slowly going away. Unless you're able to work remotely with the substantial income, the coast is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't recommending trying to make a life here.

Unfortunately I think we are having a cost-of-living crisis throughout our State and even in most of the Country. I'm glad you were able to make it work and raise your children by the Ocean!

I tried 40 years ago because I love the Oregon coast. You cannot make a living there. The winters are dreary. Too much rain.
    No tourism, no work!!

I think things may have changed since then. There are several little towns on the coast with year-round, tourism. But the climate is definitely not for everyone!

There has been an increase in homelessness in recent years, I see that most along the I-5 corridor, rather than at the Coast. Thanks for watching my videos!

The Oregon coast is a great place to visit, in the summer. winters are cold, raining or drizzling, dank, empty, noisy and watch out for the meth heads.
