Honestly, when I first started eve, I thought "what do I do". I was picked up by a friendly Corp who introduced me to the game. The best kinds of ships used there were typically battle cruisers, with the occasional battleship. I was unaware of the ship tree, and I thought battleships were the best ships in the game. Then, one day, we were attacked. As we operated in null sec, attacks were frequent. This attack, however, was different. At this time I had been playing eve for two weeks, and flew a destroyer. In our mumble server, someone yelled "evacuate the base! We cannot hope to defeat this fleet. Suddenly, strange ship symbols I had never seen before appeared. Dreadnoughts! Someone yelled. Our battleships outnumbered the dreadnoughts, and slowly started to win the fight. Suddenly, a new ship jumped into the system. This ship was different. It was twice the size of our base, and started to launch rockets that dealt massive damage. "Leviathan! We're screwed! It's been a good run guys."
the reason is that in eve, you make your own fun. this is such an alien concept to people who are used to playing games with many rules, they dont realize that eve is one of the truest and most open sandbox games out there
Sorenkair Sandbox or not, Eve Online is all about two things: Fighting and making money. Everything you do in the game is literally centered around these two aspects. That's pretty much it. That and trolling everyone outside of your own alliance.
Playing for ~3 years, got 3 pilots, only one of them is capable of using carriers at the moment (just trained skills, didn't even tried that class yet).
A smart pilot plays the game. A smarter pilot plays the people. This is why very little done in eve is better done alone. It's dangerous to go alone...take friends.
What doesn't make sense? Scott is giving the numbers for an individual to train up to and build a titan. But I'm fairly certain there are no solo, independent Titan pilots who got their Titan entirely on their own, especially since they can be quite useless by themselves. You can't just play the game and get it, like farming a rare mount in WoW. You have to play the 'people part' of the game. I don't mean play as in trick, although that's certainly an option in Eve, I just mean every Titan is part of a team and is the result of a team effort. Hence my comment, very little done in eve is better (or easier) when done alone. It's dangerous to go alone...take friends.
arbitterm The senseless part from your statement sounds as if someone should manipulate people. Also it implies the 'smarter' ones don't actually play the game itself which isn't true.
emirhasa Well, the people I always see having the most fun in Eve are the pirates and schemers who rob their own corporation and generally take advantage of everyone in the game that they can. So there is something to be said for being a type A manipulative asshole in this game. And I could easily argue the point that it's smarter not to play at all. In fact, one might say it's the only way to "beat" eve at all.
arbitterm agreed and If that is the case, then I in fact am one of the smart ones. I rage quit that game a LONG time ago...like 4 years ago or something and never looked back. lost my one and only ship back to back in a PVE area and had no money to continue to fly said ship...this basically making my last 6 months of grinding null and void and had to start back at the very VERY bottom. I said fuck that and adios! I can totally understand not have a game that holds your hand but I dont prefer games that utterly punish you for playing. And, on top of all that, I dont have the personality to scheme other players in game. Doesn't seem right or fair, I'd rather stay out of a game that in some ways condones and or praises a toxic community. Can you tell I'm still a little butthurt over the whole thing even after 4+ years :)
Don't worry he is specifically talking to the people who want a titan simply because it is big and powerful without understanding what it actually is. The groups that have these titans always have a healthy fleet to support and protect it. Not like you actually need a ship larger than a cruiser as a solo player. You might be surprised at how successful you can be without even going past the destroyers.
He's saying a bit more than that. You can't fly them until you are ready and you don't fly them until they are needed and you have proper support to defend it.
Well it's not just that, it's the simple fact that it's primarily useful as a strategic weapon for an alliance, you don't 'solo' people in Titans, you join a fleet and follow orders, and most of the time you keep the Titan logged off until its needed.
So, I'm trying to work out an estimate of the real life price of a titan, factoring in the blueprints etc. (which Scott has said in the video is going to come in at around 100bil isk.) I'm using pounds, last time I played a plex cost around £15, and sold for around 500,000,000 isk. So 1,000,000,000 isk is £30. 100bil divided by 1bil is 100, so the equivalent price in GBP is 30 x 100. A titan is worth £3000 *shiver*
thins you need to learn during the learning curve or someone else told you to do so ( even if you didnt had a clue about why you needed to do so until it happend to you ) -have zkillboard open -dscan every 10 seconds -have your scanner for every ship in the game enabled -watch out for red dots -do not unplug your headphones/earphones ( you can hear a noncloaked ship boom in seconds before it lands ) -NEVER EVER stop dscan -always align to a celestial object in case you get poped, your pod has a high chance of survival if you align and jump just after getting popped. -NEVER EVER GO TO NULLSEC bellow a 2wk old toon (unless you wish to get popd and podded) -NEVER EVER GO TO WH space in a 2wk old toon (unless you wish to get popd and podded) -always, always search the toon on zkillboard -have any wh data base page open and keep track of your active whs -do not fly what you cannot afford at least 5 times. -do not fit what you cannot afford at least 5 times and last but not least.. TRUST NOBODY! Welcome to New Eden, Enjoy your stay.
also best bit of advice you will ever get is as soon as the tutorial is finished go to low sec and get killed better to get it out of the way sooner because at some.point it will happen
Having a titan is like being a bus driver having a bus. Except that you use that bus to drive your alliance and you can't have it at your home's garage.
So I've tried Eve several times in the past and never got very far. I finally decided to really put effort into learning it, I've finally started learning. The game is pretty stunning.
I hate spelling nazis.... especially when this is a comment section, much like cell phone texting. We aren't writing articles. Let go of your self-imposed ego to 1UP another human being.
Vyse Arcadia this is actually first time i corrected someones grammer😂😂 and yeah, you got a point, this is comment section, this shit gives people cancer, so we should stay away from all of this😂😂😂 comment section isnt like texting, but of you look on commenting as sending a private message to someone, thats totally okay i look on writing and speaking like same thing, but only difference between them is obvious i mean, paper for writing, whole hearing system in your head what i am trying to say is, that we should write same way as we speak and samething the other way, so we wont end up like Dessigner, who went from normal human language to motorcycle engine sounds and trust me, i dont do this for pleasure
You rock Scott! I used to play EVE Online for over 6 years ago.. After watching some of your videos: I am stuck again in the game. Only problem is that I need to start from beginning because I lost both log in info and the email that was connected to that account! Thx for awesome info and funny videos. Keep up the good work mate!
Some people train mining and then realise that they should in fact be focussing on combat skills, so they sell the mining character, buy a PVP character and it save them having to train for months.
Well... Fuck.... This is a really fucking good comment Like one of the best comments I've ever seen I take it back This is the best comment ever Like The best of all eternity Fuck...
If you have the ISK but not the alliance connections, an average of 1 per week gets sold on Eve-O for anywhere between 105b (travel fit) to 130+ (fully officer fit).
I remember a dude jumping in to this system with a titan and demanding everyones stuff. Soon a fleet warped in and destroyed the titan and he was so mad at everyone that i think he changed that day
Hey Scott, just a question on Titans from a fellow EVE pilot. Have you heard about the battle of B-R5RB? Well over 70 titans were lost there. Even the winner lost more of them then in any previous battles
Just don't worry about flying a titan and eventually it will happen. Keep saving up, dont lose too many expensive ships and the wealth starts to come really easily. I started playing in 2008 and was pitifully poor for my first 2 years or so, but now I bought an Erebus a few months ago without making a big moneymaking push whatsoever. Supercarrier is even more attainable (and more useful in the current meta); you can definitely get into one of those relatively quickly even if you dont put too much effort into attaining isk.
I think the fact that you cited those points prove my case - 'Newbies should forget about flying titans until they've played for at least a year' The only things that titans are used for is Bridging fleets and killing things in PVP. They have almost no utility outside of sov level PVP, if you are not active in sov wars then you should not be aspiring to fly these.
Okay, that makes sense. Bridging fleets is key to strategic planning. What is the purpose of the entrances on the ships? There's one on the top and bottom of the avatar titan. Before the update, it was at the very front. It's difficult to miss. Titans have a fleet hanger, ship maintenance hanger are they for that purpose? For logistics. I've just never been able to figure it out.
It's a lot easier to do now. All you need to do is buy roughly $4000 - $5000 worth of plex and convert it to isk, buy skill injectors and get all the relevant skills for the titan you want should take you about an hour, then buy the titan from a supercap selling keepstar in lowsec, then spend a few days moving the ship's fit to it. All in all time taken should be under a week. Double bonus, then you can get your first pvp experience as soon as you undock when everyone and their dog comes to blow it up!
So if you just were flying it around then some huge fleet would go to kill you? or would they flee as far as they can, or with some 3-5 friends in smaller ships for defense.
So, I've been watching all of your new videos for the past year or two now, and I decided to just do some video research on EVE Online and found this. Didn't know you did EVE, that's awesome!
You're welcome to acquire the ISK for a titan, and then buy a character and setup a POS to manage it from, and an army of alts to run cynos and fuel it. Then you'll probably get into an alliance based on owning a titan. Then you can PVP in your $4000 ship with your $1000 and hope that you don't lose it all because you confused 'Bridge' and 'Jump' because you're a week old player pretending to be a PVP veteran. You should go and read the fable of the 'Honor Tank'.
My tip is, if u wanna fly a titan, forget it. start pvp in cheap ships like frigates and as you get better and learn the game, step up to cruisers and battlecruisers and eventually battleships. at this point you are probably gonna be in a corp and you will fly whatever they need you to fly. best tip to get into flying capital ships is pvp alot, join pvp corps start in lowsec, move to null and pvp etc. if u dont want to pvp then totally forget capital ships as you cant fly em in highsec and pvpability is a must in null :)
I'm pretty sure with all +5 implants and an optimal attribute remap you can sit in a Titan in 4 months. Theoretically, you could train hauler type ships and work up to a couple trillion during that time. So now you've got Racial Titan I trained. Now you need to train Capital module skills - and all their prerequisites. That's a couple weeks at least. If you want the doomsday, you need Science V which is a couple more days of training. Jump Portal Generator. More training. Clone Vat = More training. After that, you've got a functional Titan. A lot of the prerequisites ARE core skills. You'd have a lot of EHP. But open fire on another Titan and you'll lose. Why? Because all Titans get a 100% Dmg Bonus per Racial Titan level. A.K.A? Experienced Titan pilots do 5x the amount of damage you do. If you have 5,000 DPS you can expect them to do 30,000. They also have 30% more EHP than you. Better tank and DPS. Your fleet can't save you either, because their fleet gets the same bonus to EHP. And guess what? Every time you lose that Titan you lose all that isk, and all your implants, adding up to quite a couple billions. Then there's modules. I'm sorry - flying a Titan is not the first thing you want to do in EvE. Join an Alliance and do small gang and small fleet PvP. Make a 2nd character to train freighters with. If your alliance can facilitate a Titan, that freighter alt is a good base, send it some isk (unless you make money on it) and plug in some implants and start buying skill books. You'll also need to plan out remap points and such in EvEmon. With +5 implants and remap points Mastery V of a Titan takes 2 1/2 years, but even then true mastery is a long time off.
Capitals in general really aren't a thing that a single player owns and does stuff in capitals are fleet ships useful in very specific situation that most player wont find themselves in >50% of the time while playing. As a drone specialist from back when Eve had the career paths you could choose and it would start you out with some basic skills in that avenue, I dreamed of a carrier. But you cant do anything in a carrier! its all logistics and support for a fleet.
Carduke... you might make a good case if it wasn't clear that you hadn't played the game for almost 3 years. The AOE doomsday attack was removed in the Dominion release. Now, titans get a doomsday weapon that does something like 2million HP damage to another capital ship (it can only target capital ships), it can fire once every 10 minutes.
The Titan is ment to be a giant support ship for capitals and super captials, but also a way for sub-caps like battleships to quickly move around from 1 region to a other without slowboating all the way. One of the few ways to kill a Slowcat fleet (a lot of carrier reping each other making them almost impossible to kill) is to drop 100 titans and doomsday each and everyone off the field in many big bursts.
K. Ty. It just seems like everyone (in local/rookie chat at least) only see Titans as doomsday device ships and nothing else matters for them. How much structure hp, base armor hp, and base shield hp do they have? Does it vary between the different race Titans or do they all have similar hp?
Have never really had an interest in playing Eve but if you were to make a series on stuff like this I would happily watch every episode. Very interesting like all your videos.
I worked up a pilot w/ max skills in a machariel... a few notes: 1. Takes a lot of time and effort 2. Actually achievable goal for a solo pilot 3. Just as rewarding as a titan, except you can fly around and blow all kinds of crap up with waaaaay more flexibility 4. WHEN (not if) it dies, you can replace it fairly easy
I have to say that Gariel had it almost right on. Yeah, he didn't mention making ISK with carriers killing npcs.. But it is just mind numbing an not fun at all. PvP with carriers is not something common, unless you are just hotdropping people, or talking about fleet ops. Very few people do it effectively in small groups.
Nevermind the number of times protected or not that you lose your miners LOL. What a way to discourage people from flying them but I see the level of focus and dedication, not to mention how few times you really get to fly it.
People always say "you don't wanna be a titan pilot, they're useless solo, smaller ships are better yap yap yap yap yap" They're missing the point. Some of us don't care about that. It's about the aesthetic of it, the experience. I'll never fly a Titan because of game design. I'll never even get into a capital without it being blasted to pieces within an hour because of game design. Some people love this system, others don't. Games popularity would kick off if they'd make the larger ships more accessible.
Flying a titan isnt difficult . The skill tree may seem daunting but the progression in eve is something else compared to most games out there. You dont NEED to have a sitter toon anymore with the amount of citadels that can accomod them, not to mention NPC stations. The prob is titans arent as enjoyable to play with IMO. Id rather fly a dread, recon, or hulked out hull tanked navy brutix/mega/hyper
it's an alt, all titans in major alliances are self owned and are self cynoed for late night drunken shenanigans. also you can't target a pos in consolation sov system so 4:28-4:48 is wrong, they can try and steal it if they have the password, or hope it bounces out(more common then you might think)
no, currently there is technically a few caps left in high sec due to being built before the ban from high sec (special rules enforced by ccp btw to ensure they dont upset current high sec or else they get insta-deported to low sec) but they are null or low sec restricted
im currently on a training account and i dont exactly know much about the game but i would keep the mining character and mine a load of ISK while training the combat skills, having enough money seems quite a good idea while getting used to how pvp works because you wont get hurt everytime you loose a ship
I just want to buy a pre-equipped nice battle ship.... I tried to build a cruiser and I get all sorts of errors about too much energy consumption and such.. confusing... how do I just buy a pre-made ship?
You're right, they probably do. Like their jobs and lives overall. What do you do in your free time? Whatever the answer, we choose to play this game in ours.
So let's say I wanted to fly a stealth bomber and come off like a raider, hitting mining barges and taking their goods. Or maybe I want to fly an orca and mine. What would be a good strategy?
"and taking their goods". It sounds like a very cool idea, but like most things in Eve, what sounds cool, often times doesnt turn out that way. You want to raid a mining barge, blowing it up with your SB and then taking his.......ore? The amount of ore you will be able to steal wont cover the cost of your bomber if you lose it. and you WILL lose it, its just a matter of time. As someone stated, the bomber is best used in groups. If you want to mine then the Hulk is your ship. The one piece of advice I will give you, is when you decide want you want to do and fly, make sure you train your skills accordingly and stick to it. Keep your skills focused for what you want to do. You will be much more effective that way than having them all spread out at level 2 and 3 instead of more focused level 4 and 5. Good luck! fly safe.
It's not worth it, if you want to do things exciting in eve join faction warfare and shoot things in frigates, in my opinion that's the best thing to do in eve.
Robert Haskell Forget the ore, take the modules that are fitter to the barge, and salvage the wreck if it's and Exhumer. T2 Strip miners are quite small and valuable, and you used to find Deadspace shield boosters on Exhumers, those were nice.
+thenoobfactor A stealth bomber can easily destroy the non tanky exhumers in 3 hits. You can kill and loot a miner for their modules in like 20 seconds from when you de cloak. The main thing is you need to make sure it isnt a trap. Because lots of people use mining ships as bait.
Honestly, the easiest way to sum it up would be to say that a titan is a strategic superweapon that can only be afforded, built, maintained, and utilized by a strategic superpower. After all, what good would an aircraft supercarrier do for a single person in today's world, even if you could somehow afford one? Only the most powerful nations in the world have any capability to use them in any meaningful way.
I know it could run it, but my computer is having difficulties in other areas besides the graphics card. I think the hard drive is burning out, but all I know is that when I put stress on it it doesn't tend to work correctly. I am, however, getting a very good deal on a hardly used pc and monitor for $200 bucks so I will definitely hop on when I get that. KSP has been my influence to get into games such as this.
most of my time on eve consists of my flying my carrier. wether im using it to kill npc's and make isk, or using it for logistical purposes like moving fitted ships. They are awesome in pvp too as they have such versatile drone usage and give out ridiculous reps. i dont know where you got your information from, but it definately wasnt from experience!
Carriers can be devastating against smaller targets and dreadnoughts are devastating against POS towers etc. Titans give a defensive option by creating a specialized ship to eliminate these threats. on top of that. the Titans are effectively Mobile Stargates and can move massive numbers into combat very quickly.
I know this is an old video but if not titans you should really look for a dreadnought since it is less of a target and you can use it as a solo player way more than a titan. you could rat/ maybe even go solo roaming, and its a ton cheaper if you have the means of making the isk to use it and loose it
some people realize that time is money and they buy 5 accounts at once and train all of them to do something dedicative, so a piloting a titan takes FOREVER just to pilot it, and having your main character learning to fly one deprives him of his other abilities, if you get yourself 5 accounts, and are able to support there PLEX needs, you can train them up, and make a HUGE profit on them later down the road, im just starting and ive been told by experienced players to focus on what I WANT to do
"i want to fly a titan" -no you dont, you just think you wanna fly it. 1st of all, you need to do it on an alt since a supercap is a "prison" since the character never leaves it. It takes well over a year to have the skills to fly it properly, and you wont be able to afford it like ever on your own, flying it also require alot of support and other supers. your best bet is becoming a long time member and trusted in a large alliance and maybe you get to fly one in the future, but be warned, its the worst kinda ship to fly in the game: you cant use jumpgates, fly in highsec or dock it at stations. 99% of the time your pilot just sit in it floating around in a pos bubble.
How practical is training to fly something like a Black Ops ship? I've always liked the idea, but wasn't sure how useful they'd be. And how about something like a Carrier?
I played eve a long time ago. Is it a good game for 2-3 hours per evening after work? In the past I didn´t got really deep into it, because I was not able to find good mates. And alone its kinda boring. I farmed a drake and wanted to get "raven" (don´t know the name) and paid a while to be able to get one. But I guess I did many things wrong so I got a few drawbacks. Maybe I will give it another shot someday. And hopefully I find a nice group.
+Trust Me Im A Jedi Yeah you just have the find the right type of support group/alliance to start with. My friend ran 4 accounts with billions of isk and he always told me it's a great game for people who work because you can do things afk.
Alastair Barkley right?! Just finished Amarr Titan. Thats two I own. I can fly minmatar with nearly perfect skills. still working on amarr for decent skills.
Its like u said. I started playing Eve after seeing some vids from different Titans .. than i learned what it means and what it costs to buy / build and fly a titan .... should have watched your video earlierer ^^ but i dont regret any minute spend with eve. greets from ger, very informative video
I got 4 Titans dropped on my Alliance like 5 days ago. Those things were so big that i didnt notice them until i saw them on the overview, they were like, background on the screen. It was scarry.
The only capitals allowed in highsec are frighters and jump frighters. Although it do exsist I think one dreadnough and 1 carrier in highsec bulit before they was banned from high sec they just never left
Well, because they actually openly tell you how much time you need, its not like you need any less time to archieve something big in eve than in any other game. titans are an investment from a corporation , that goes for the character. eve flatout tells you "3months and you can fly this". WoW says "reach 90 in 2 weeks!" (they dont tell you however that you need 3 months to have the full equipment as you have a weekly limet) get the idea?
I would also like to add that he is just stating that they are not something that new players should be looking at. He is not saying that they are completely useless but, if you first log into EVE and want to get into a titan within the first few weeks, which I will admit I did, you will be disappointed.... However I was not as disappointed :P
I watched a video a few months back on game design where they were discussing how to balance giving high level players incentive while keeping it fair for lower leveled players. They gave the example of a sci-fi MMO where they designed a really powerful battleship that takes so much money and resources that it would take a single player years to build it, with the ention of having the best players using it a few years down the road. But what ended up happening was, withen the first to second year, high leveled players with a lot of good weapons were teaming up with lower leveled players who had good mining. The high-ups provided protection and funding while the low-levels mined, producing a lot of material, and they built the 1st ship withen a year. Could this be what they were talking about?
i'm just starting out playing eve, and i eventually want to pilot the gallente nyx. what skills should i level? is there anything else that i need to do to make one?
+darkmoonwarrior2 just apply what he said in the video on building the Nyx , but on lower scale abit compared to titan, but still u need a lot of skills to fly in Nyx and it will take u about 4 to 5 months of training to just sit in it and to use it effectively in combat u would need 1 full year to maximize the nyx skills and abilities . if u still got more questions regarding the Nyx pm WhiteMoon2 in eve or just mail me and i will give u full idea about u are about to go throw to build it .
dont even bother with caps until u are in a corporation and have about a years worth of pvp experience. for my corp pandemic horde the skill plan is 700days long before you can come out and use it.
Dude I would just focus on two things: 1. Have fun 2. Make money Bonus points if you find it very fun to do things that make money. If you want to grind a lot of money in a fairly standard and consistent way, I highly recommend bee-lining for an Incursion pilot. Then, when you're space rich, just buy yourself the supercarrier pilot from the character market with in game money. While you're doing this, I'd recommend associating yourself with a large nullsec player alliance so you actually have a playground to use the damn thing. There's no such thing as a solo supercarrier pilot :) GL HF
Not to long. At around 6 million skill points I got my skills to the point that I could solo and salvage lv 4 missions. A full salvage load nets me from 80-120 million (I melt it down for speed) and the bounty for mission kills varies from mission to mission (at least 2-5 million per mission, mostly much more tho). All said and done I spend about the first 2-3 days of the month doing this and net myself the money to get a plex for next month. As it stands I have plex for the next 7 months.
and then make an alt for other thingsi want to do on the side, for example, I forked over 50 bux in PLEX to support 2 additional characters, one for mining, and one for industry, ive only been playing for about 2 weeks but if lifes taught me anything its that getting a head start on something means all the difference, later on down the line if I dislike whats becoming of one of my accounts I can just sell it for its exclusive skillset for a particular branch of studies for isk for my main :3
If you have the killboard entry for that kill could you link it somewhere so we could grab a peak at it.. I would love to see something like that haha :P
I'm new to EVE online (on the 14 day trial thing). Everyone tells me that the Titan ships are just completely useless now. That doesn't change the fact that I would still love to have one someday. lol. As a new player, my goal is simply a Drake since I'm a Caldari. I just have a question about Titans. Can Titan ships have other weapons besides the "doomsday" device like rail guns, missle launchers, etc.?
In all seriousness, thank you for sharing this information. It's helpful to someone like me who has never played the game. No disrespect to the fans of this game, but now I definitely have no interest in trying this game. I'll stick to World of Tanks where I can actually obtain the top vehicles.
I helped build the first titan in eve.. for Celestial Horizons Corp.. Good old days!
Been there done that, salute to you my friend...
Cls is now closed :(
Tbh I am not sure it's true
YOU BIRTHED STEVE
I flew in alliance with Celestial Horizons around 2017
Lol
the reason is that in eve, you make your own fun. this is such an alien concept to people who are used to playing games with many rules, they dont realize that eve is one of the truest and most open sandbox games out there
owenred10 lol
Sorenkair Sandbox or not, Eve Online is all about two things: Fighting and making money. Everything you do in the game is literally centered around these two aspects. That's pretty much it. That and trolling everyone outside of your own alliance.
@@allthatishere So, just like real world minus procreation
Been playing since January 2004 and bought my Capital Ship skill last week. No point rushing things.
Playing for ~3 years, got 3 pilots, only one of them is capable of using carriers at the moment (just trained skills, didn't even tried that class yet).
Do you have a Titan now?
So basically don't bother with a titan if you want to have a life
You can "not have" a life and still don't bother with a titan x)
+Dominik Spilka he means you have to safe guard it and spend all ur time with it.
+jacob moretti and I mean you don't need to have a titan to waste all your time with something.
+Captain Davian Well theoretically you could maintain a social life and build a titan but it would take a lot longer...
That's almost as exciting as playing
A smart pilot plays the game.
A smarter pilot plays the people.
This is why very little done in eve is better done alone. It's dangerous to go alone...take friends.
Care to elaborate please? As that doesn't make sense.

Well, the people I always see having the most fun in Eve are the pirates and schemers who rob their own corporation and generally take advantage of everyone in the game that they can.
Can you tell I'm still a little butthurt over the whole thing even after 4+ years :)
this video made me depressed....I'm not even an Eve player and the amount of work is terribly depressing just to listen to....
+MrMyYoyo It's more depressing to experience. Until you actually get there xD
yeah the game is boring as fuck, i've tried to get into it multiple times.. it never sticks.
+Vio you must be a very entertaining target to pop in eve :D, id love to pop you some time
Don't worry he is specifically talking to the people who want a titan simply because it is big and powerful without understanding what it actually is.
Titan Steve. Best ship name ever of all time
Named in honor of Steve Irwin, who had recently died when the Titan was finished
This game is hardcore. Everything is a balancing act. You learn to manage yourself.
And i thought i was lifeless for becoming top tier in War Thunder
Top tier in a pay to win game. Hilarious, my man.
Pay to win and biased to hell
Well it's not just that, it's the simple fact that it's primarily useful as a strategic weapon for an alliance, you don't 'solo' people in Titans, you join a fleet and follow orders, and most of the time you keep the Titan logged off until its needed.
So, I'm trying to work out an estimate of the real life price of a titan, factoring in the blueprints etc. (which Scott has said in the video is going to come in at around 100bil isk.)
I'm using pounds, last time I played a plex cost around £15, and sold for around 500,000,000 isk. So 1,000,000,000 isk is £30. 100bil divided by 1bil is 100, so the equivalent price in GBP is 30 x 100.
A titan is worth £3000
*shiver*
Even more expensive Plex is now around 800 million isk
Wow. Dat inflation.
***** Yeah. I know.
Roughly a Titan costs about $6k US right now. If you include modules and weapons systems.
Zeb Cheek plus all the training times and how you would crash the market if you sold that much plex
thins you need to learn during the learning curve or someone else told you to do so ( even if you didnt had a clue about why you needed to do so until it happend to you )
-have zkillboard open
-dscan every 10 seconds
-have your scanner for every ship in the game enabled
-watch out for red dots
-do not unplug your headphones/earphones ( you can hear a noncloaked ship boom in seconds before it lands )
-NEVER EVER stop dscan
-always align to a celestial object in case you get poped, your pod has a high chance of survival if you align and jump just after getting popped.
-NEVER EVER GO TO NULLSEC bellow a 2wk old toon (unless you wish to get popd and podded)
-NEVER EVER GO TO WH space in a 2wk old toon (unless you wish to get popd and podded)
-always, always search the toon on zkillboard
-have any wh data base page open and keep track of your active whs
-do not fly what you cannot afford at least 5 times.
-do not fit what you cannot afford at least 5 times
and
last but not least..
Kudos to anyone who did this grind to get a Titan, and had the bravery to undock with it
So I've tried Eve several times in the past and never got very far. I finally decided to really put effort into learning it, I've finally started learning. The game is pretty stunning.
Still play?
You mean i cant own a Titan and fly it around during my 21 days trials ? SCREW THAT GAME.
Kaynos your not serious are you?.....
SlackPie/Mystosia *you are or you're
I hate spelling nazis.... especially when this is a comment section, much like cell phone texting. We aren't writing articles. Let go of your self-imposed ego to 1UP another human being.
Vyse Arcadia this is actually first time i corrected someones grammer😂😂
and yeah, you got a point, this is comment section, this shit gives people cancer, so we should stay away from all of this😂😂😂
comment section isnt like texting, but of you look on commenting as sending a private message to someone, thats totally okay
i look on writing and speaking like same thing, but only difference between them is obvious i mean, paper for writing, whole hearing system in your head
what i am trying to say is, that we should write same way as we speak and samething the other way, so we wont end up like Dessigner, who went from normal human language to motorcycle engine sounds
and trust me, i dont do this for pleasure
*grammar
You rock Scott! I used to play EVE Online for over 6 years ago.. After watching some of your videos: I am stuck again in the game. Only problem is that I need to start from beginning because I lost both log in info and the email that was connected to that account!
Thx for awesome info and funny videos. Keep up the good work mate!
Steve, the holy arbiter of gods retribution.
Some people train mining and then realise that they should in fact be focussing on combat skills, so they sell the mining character, buy a PVP character and it save them having to train for months.
Jesus you just made this game seem so intimidating.
that's cause it is
dairylandbogurt it is man.
Eve online is one of the more hardcore games in the world. Not AT ALL for casual players. :)
Not for players with lives
can you use a titan for mining?
haha, nice joke.
if only if only i dream of flying a planet eater
SoldierCyfix One name. Chribba
there was a guy, who farmied contracts on a titan
yes its not made for it but yes as its fucknig huge it probobly has a giant fuckinng hold jsut add a few stripminers and off ya hop

Well... Fuck....
This is a really fucking good comment
Like one of the best comments I've ever seen
I take it back
This is the best comment ever
Like
The best of all eternity
Fuck...
That about sums it up perfectly
Can confirm, 2+ years of skill Training and we're still going. The sitting in a Titan bit is nice in the meantime though.
If you have the ISK but not the alliance connections, an average of 1 per week gets sold on Eve-O for anywhere between 105b (travel fit) to 130+ (fully officer fit).
I remember a dude jumping in to this system with a titan and demanding everyones stuff. Soon a fleet warped in and destroyed the titan and he was so mad at everyone that i think he changed that day
If the titans looked better, I might want one, but they look a bit weird. I choose my primary ships from my sense of aesthetics, (love the rifter)
The rest are cool, but I seriously don't get the Empress's giant dildo.
Hey Scott, just a question on Titans from a fellow EVE pilot. Have you heard about the battle of B-R5RB? Well over 70 titans were lost there. Even the winner lost more of them then in any previous battles
Not to mention a wikipedia article...
I'm sure the whole world knows about that battle by now =P
I never played this game but just from watching Scott' videos i already love it!
I think the fact that you cited those points prove my case -
'Newbies should forget about flying titans until they've played for at least a year'
The only things that titans are used for is Bridging fleets and killing things in PVP.
So if you just were flying it around then some huge fleet would go to kill you? or would they flee as far as they can, or with some 3-5 friends in smaller ships for defense.
you would get ganked almost instantly If you were just flying it around people love killing titans
CaFi + Why are you making shit up? You cannot use skill injectors until 5 million skill points. That takes about 3 months in game.
You do not need to wait untill 5 million sp to use them, you need to have over 5 million sp to extract them.
I was doing a frig fleet and pl. brought about 20 supers and 5 titans
One of the few ways to kill a Slowcat fleet (a lot of carrier reping each other making them almost impossible to kill) is to drop 100 titans and doomsday each and everyone off the field in many big bursts.
carriers are the most functional capital ship for beginner to advanced. u can do tons and tons with a carrier
At least is wasnt the famously awful sensor boosted smartbombing titan with one gun that was killed earlier this year.
I worked up a pilot w/ max skills in a machariel... a few notes:
1. Takes a lot of time and effort
2. Actually achievable goal for a solo pilot
3. Just as rewarding as a titan, except you can fly around and blow all kinds of crap up with waaaaay more flexibility
4. WHEN (not if) it dies, you can replace it fairly easy
Except:
1) Carriers and Supercarries (much cheaper) also act as mobile space stations and refitting arrays
2) Titans no longer have AoE attacks
I have to say that Gariel had it almost right on.
Yeah, he didn't mention making ISK with carriers killing npcs.. But it is just mind numbing an not fun at all.
PvP with carriers is not something common, unless you are just hotdropping people, or talking about fleet ops.
Very few people do it effectively in small groups.
Nevermind the number of times protected or not that you lose your miners LOL.
What a way to discourage people from flying them but I see the level of focus and dedication, not to mention how few times you really get to fly it.
I just started playing Eve online, I'm really enjoying it!!
People always say "you don't wanna be a titan pilot, they're useless solo, smaller ships are better yap yap yap yap yap"
They're missing the point.
This is why CCP thought it was an actual joke themselves. The requirements are an actual absurd joke.
It's also a hell of a lot easier to raise 105b straight cash than it is to acquire the necessary minerals.
correction, you can't bring COMBAT capitals into high sec, a rorqual is a capital and they are in high sec, like an orca is, or an ark and providence
Im doing it the 40 year route. Just 35 years to go!
it's an alt, all titans in major alliances are self owned and are self cynoed for late night drunken shenanigans.
also you can't target a pos in consolation sov system so 4:28-4:48 is wrong, they can try and steal it if they have the password, or hope it bounces out(more common then you might think)
no, currently there is technically a few caps left in high sec due to being built before the ban from high sec (special rules enforced by ccp btw to ensure they dont upset current high sec or else they get insta-deported to low sec) but they are null or low sec restricted
im currently on a training account and i dont exactly know much about the game but i would keep the mining character and mine a load of ISK while training the combat skills, having enough money seems quite a good idea while getting used to how pvp works because you wont get hurt everytime you loose a ship
I just want to buy a pre-equipped nice battle ship.... I tried to build a cruiser and I get all sorts of errors about too much energy consumption and such.. confusing... how do I just buy a pre-made ship?
I dunno, I still want a Titan.
Stealth bomber is really situational. Best used in groups in roams or support during fleet battles.
I can learn Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Node , Algorithms, AI and another language. In the time It will take me to learn to master EVE online
I know this is an old video but if not titans you should really look for a dreadnought since it is less of a target and you can use it as a solo player way more than a titan. you could rat/ maybe even go solo roaming, and its a ton cheaper if you have the means of making the isk to use it and loose it
Can you use a Sotiyo Engineering Complex to build a Titan?
you kind of forgot about the skill time required to learn in order to fly a capital ship witch is more then a year :)
That moment when you complete all of this in 3 years 70 hours per week grinding, and you see your titan explode on your screen. - Eve Online
some people realize that time is money and they buy 5 accounts at once and train all of them to do something dedicative, so a piloting a titan takes FOREVER just to pilot it, and having your main character learning to fly one deprives him of his other abilities, if you get yourself 5 accounts, and are able to support there PLEX needs, you can train them up, and make a HUGE profit on them later down the road, im just starting and ive been told by experienced players to focus on what I WANT to do
"i want to fly a titan" -no you dont, you just think you wanna fly it.
+Lurkens Kanal Not anymore, since Titans are dockable in Keepstars.
Shall be interesting to see the what happens when capitals come into Echoes in a few months.
How practical is training to fly something like a Black Ops ship? I've always liked the idea, but wasn't sure how useful they'd be. And how about something like a Carrier?
And a few days ago we saw that Scott Manley had 3.5t casually laying around. Thats quite a few titans :D
Trust Me Im A Jedi Good luck with finding a right corp/alliance.
+Trust Me Im A Jedi Yeah you just have the find the right type of support group/alliance to start with. My friend ran 4 accounts with billions of isk and he always told me it's a great game for people who work because you can do things afk.
When you said "fly safe" in your KSP "mun landing with smallest rocket" video, I KNEW you must play Eve Online!
About 8-9 months in and Im buying a Titan soon, (Hopefully).
Got my Titan a few weeks back. Hasn't died yet. It wasn't that hard Scott.
Alastair Barkley right?! Just finished Amarr Titan. Thats two I own. I can fly minmatar with nearly perfect skills. still working on amarr for decent skills.
Jake Nienhueser Ew. You got a Ragnarok?
finaly a good eve video on youtube lol
Its like u said. I started playing Eve after seeing some vids from different Titans .. than i learned what it means and what it costs to buy / build and fly a titan .... should have watched your video earlierer ^^
but i dont regret any minute spend with eve.
greets from ger, very informative video
I got 4 Titans dropped on my Alliance like 5 days ago. Those things were so big that i didnt notice them until i saw them on the overview, they were like, background on the screen. It was scarry.
The only capitals allowed in highsec are frighters and jump frighters.
Although it do exsist I think one dreadnough and 1 carrier in highsec bulit before they was banned from high sec they just never left
Years later, thanks to keepstars
, sotiyos and rorquals working 24/7 in delve, super carriers have already became very attainable, Titans? Maybe next.
Well, because they actually openly tell you how much time you need, its not like you need any less time to archieve something big in eve than in any other game. titans are an investment from a corporation , that goes for the character.
eve flatout tells you "3months and you can fly this". WoW says "reach 90 in 2 weeks!" (they dont tell you however that you need 3 months to have the full equipment as you have a weekly limet)
get the idea?
Technically you're not soloing if you have to have someone light a Cyno for you :-p
your very good at explaining things...u have that gift...u should do more Q&A vids
Scott Manley Bro, I love your stairs man. Cheers.
Its also one of my dreams , and i apologize for my ignorance.
I would also like to add that he is just stating that they are not something that new players should be looking at. He is not saying that they are completely useless but, if you first log into EVE and want to get into a titan within the first few weeks, which I will admit I did, you will be disappointed.... However I was not as disappointed :P
Option #2: Steal daddy's credit card.
I like your videos, I'm a new shit player that's just now getting into eve. Your videos are perfect. TYVM
Don't worry, we all start off in the same boat. :)
you cant bring capitals into high sec there is only 1 dread left from way back when in high sec which he uses to mine in
I watched a video a few months back on game design where they were discussing how to balance giving high level players incentive while keeping it fair for lower leveled players.
No, and no.
even more no's
Sort of, yes, but theres no "levels" in eve, only skill points.
Carriers? Thanatos? Chimera? Nidhoggur? Archon?
"Nightmare is a pretty cool looking ship and it has shields and lasers which makes it seem really high tech." Very funny Scott.
i'm just starting out playing eve, and i eventually want to pilot the gallente nyx.
what skills should i level? is there anything else that i need to do to make one?
TEST alliance best alliance
Dude I would just focus on two things:
1. Have fun
2. Make money
Bonus points if you find it very fun to do things that make money.
There's no such thing as a solo supercarrier pilot :)
GL HF
Jason Galente is'nt It more like
1)make money
2) get griefed
3) get money lost back,
4) get griefed
5) earn 3rd Time money
6) ....
