There are some people doing safety mods to the GR rocker arms with some retainer clips. When you over rev the Yaris engine and valve floats even a little,the rocker arms would detach from the valve and fly away (like the first time you had) it would happen over and over. It is a design fail or not very optimal solution for a sports car. I saw this in another Yaris owner video recommending that mod(retainers&springs) ,cams and big cat. Hood vents in the GR are another ace cheap mod,some guys made that to keep the car much cooler and stable less lift at high speed. Love the red Golf...Great video!!!

@@c4rltsyt it depends on the over rev 6th to 3rd fron 7000 revs will upset any engine. as said before 4wd and a manual gearbox is not ideal for a rental racer.

This should be caused not only just by over rev, but valve spring resonation. I saw a video with deep technical info and high speed camera footage.
So Toyota in Japan go to meticulous lengths to build the Yaris to extreme precision and then the dealers just fuck it up in an afternoon 😂

GR Yaris' complicated frames & stuff, reminds me of Celica GT-Four & Caldina GT-Four, lol.
that cross-brace under the engine is almost 1:1 the same as the Celica GT4 :D

Looks like the Yaris wasn't such a good idea for a rental car and the dealer support is poor considering it's Toyota. Maybe smart move is to avoid manual transmissions on rental cars?

Low volume car with hard to get parts, thats why they got rid of the G80 too
Not to mention clutches.
Renting it to people who can't drive might have something to do with it.Dual clutch only for those people.

Other manufacturers make it easy to get the engine out because they know it will fail.

I once owned a Toyota, which I repaired and maintained by myself - it's absolutely true, it's a mess inside, nothing makes sense under the hood. Sometimes simple things are a pain... Mechanics nightmare, compared to BMW for example

I came all the way to drive the Yaris, but got notified it is in no working order, no one knew why, but I took all of Apex's remaining fleet. It was nice but I still want the Yaris to try.. Now at least I know what happened! It was a great week and shame I didnt get to meet you Misha, drive safe!

Soon you'll be signing a lot more photo's via mail after this advertisement vlog. :D Also I think for a business perspective you should buy/keep the more "reasonable" cars. If you build them crazy then people are going to drive them "crazy"... Just get stock cayman/911, M4, M135i/M240i, Golf Gti, and maybe a 4wd sportscar. Just put decent brakes on them and PS4S and make sure they're all automatic. I bet you'll have the same customers and a lot less trouble. My 2's no hate

They carry a 10 year warranty here in UK,so not too worried,no problems over last 18 months,unlike a new mk7 Golf R I had.

It's better not to rebuild an engine unless it's a collection car. The way to go is to source a new or a good used unopened one and just replace it.
