This video was the reason I bought a good ol fl8-se vexilar. Best decision I could have made. The vexilar is so bright and the battery life is so long. Analog flashers may be old school but they really give you a great idea of what’s going on under the ice
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Very good video Bud. I run an ice 45 and you're right it shows the brightness difference big time. I fish outside 90% of the time. Ive never tried a Marcum but have owned an Fl8 and it was a great unit. The only reason i havent switch to Vex is because they havent upgraded their zoom to view any part of the water column. Just the top and bottom and i fish tulibee alot. When they fix that ill switch immediately. Most people dont need the entire water column though. Again great vid and tight lines pal.
Love your videos with a littler humor added in , but love the fact that you review & demonstrate products , it helps consumers & challenges manufacturers to put out the best possible products. Keep up the good work
I can't wait to see your video that does a deep dive on these units. I can tell you that for us guys that keep our butter soft the hummingbird gets messed up by the interference as soon as you're in 26 feet or more when you're in a fish house with other fashers. Not just a little unclear. You can't see anything. After several attempts and trying all the interference functions with no result I finally bought a flx 28 and have never regretted it.
I just bought a new flx 20 because my neighbor had an older one and I trusted his. I almost crapped when I saw how crystal clear and bright my new one is on the ice. His was decent but the new design from vexilar just looks better all around. I was happy to see the outcome of this video as well.
Aaron can you make a video discussing the moon phases. Because everything I hear about this subject needs to come from you so I can believe everyone else;)... please Aaron we enjoy your work.
Great video! I've been looking for a more in depth video comparing the units and their pros and cons but there isn't too much out there. Appreciate the review.
"To get back to the warning that I received, you may take it with how ever many grains of salt you wish, that the brown acid that is circulating around us is not specifically to good. Ah, it's suggested that you do stay away from that. Of course, it's your own trip so be my guest but, ah, please be advised there is warning on that one. Ok? Elliot from Harvard the hitchhikers you need, the hitchhikers you picked up need the pills from your car please go to the information station right away. Louis Picknic your brother is in the Fallsburg Police Station." And a good time was had by all.
+The Dream Catcher: You have to be a certain age to recognize that quote and know where it comes from. Google, brown acid, if your interested enough to find out.
Winston Xion: Google, "the brown acid is bad," and watch the video that shows up. Now you know where my comment comes from. Aaron goofs in this video and says, LSD (acid) rather than LCD (liquid crystal display) So my comment is a famous quote about LSD. My comment is supposed to be a joke for anyone over the age of roughly 40... like me.
Winston Xiong Yes, I'm old and with any luck someday you will be old too but you never know you might not be one of the lucky ones who gets old. Brown Acid Warning that I took my first comment from: ruclips.net/video/hKoLlKmQSHU/видео.html
Hey Aaron! I'm a Marcum fan, however! ... Good job buddy! Vexilar will work too. I guess. Haha. Keep the vids coming man, you give many people excitement with your creativity and love for fishing. Thank You!
Dude I freaking love this!!!! I always dreamed of you doing gear reviews or even just Dailey vlogs lol let's see a mtv cribs of your basement and all the gear you accumulated over the years lol
I’ve owned a FL18, Marcum LX5 and a Humminbird 45. I definitely prefer the Marcum. Now I usually fish in a shack but I don’t have a hard time reading it outside. Yes the hummingbird has a large display but the reason I like my Marcum better is the quality of the view and target separation. I’d compare to looking at an older tv to a modern high definition Tv. My buddy just bought an FL18 and after fishing next to me a couple days he wished he had my old LX5. It does burn up the battery more but it’s worth it. Unfortunately when Marcum was bought out a few years back their reliability has gone down but they still make the best flasher in my opinion.
I like my ice-55 over those other flashers. It’s true, fishing in the day time with the sun out makes the ice-55 more dimmed but I have no problem with it. But on the BRIGHT side, ice -55 is a much better product when it comes to night fishing due to the fact that the brightness won’t irritate your eyes while fishing.
Thanks for the great side by side demo. Completely unbiased video , but it made my Vexilar and I feel rather smug. Us bearded men fish outside quite a lot.
Aaron I really wish you would post more for the broke angler. Example: If you could only have 2 Ice fishing multi species rods which one would you get. MANUAL AUGERS , tackle. Cheapest way to get into a flasher ect.
Thanks Aaron! Great info. I run a hummingbird ice 35 now and find it suitable for my needs but I don't know how long before my needs change. I mainly fish inside my otter tent.
I have a vexilar and love it. Bright, simple and powerful. I am color blind and never had an issue seeing the screen with a vexilar. Others in certain conditions I have trouble seeing. In the shack though, who cares. Use what you like.
Throck I have tried to turn my IR up but it doesn’t permanently work it works a little at first then it doesn’t work :/ do you have a newer model mar-cum
yes I have a LX3-tci....samething as the new "M" series. Only difference between Lx3-tci and new "M" series is brushless motor which makes no noise. Did Vex maybe change their IR filter strength with the newer FLX series? or is the wattage rating something that makes interference vary? My Marcum is 2000 watt and the new Vex FLX-28 is only 1000 watts. Not expecting you to know this exactly but it sure poses questions on why this is an issue.
I have an FLX 20 also and it is an incredible unit I fish 45 to 65 feet and it is the best I had an ice 35 but the zoom is crap you have to have zoom for bottom hugging perch in 50 ft. of water or you wont see them and that is where the FLX 20 shines and shines brightly!
*I am mainly using this a a depth finder.>>>**allabout.wiki/tcue** and looking for submerged rock piles and structure. Not using the unit to locate fish currently. But it does have that capability for when I do want to use it.*
AARON!! You inspire my fishing / RUclips partner and I SOOO much, your videos are great, love them all! You've taught us a lot along the way, so thanks for all you do!! Also, what's up with the Basketball Hoop on the ice!? Seriously confused, is that a little Easter Egg?? Tight Lines my friend!
HELP Aaron by watching the commercial and or clicking on them. I am sure he'll use the youtube funds to bring us more great content. It can't be cheap doing all the great video footage and narration.
Whomever disagree must be pretty biase. I fish my lx7 inside my flip but I will go grab my flx every single time im fishing outside and hole hop. The led lights in the the flx is just better in bright situations. I won't fish the flx inside because, even though I can adjust the lighting, it still hurts my eye. This is a perfect evaluation. Forget the haters
I have a super old vexilar that my grandpa never used and when he moved he gave it to me, the thing is more sensitive that a brand new Garmin 93 echomap CHIRP that my buddy took off his boat for hard water fishing
Great comparison video, hopefully that finally silences the critics. Can't wait for more videos. Oh and if you decide to shave that beard for charity, I will gladly donate.
Arron I love your opinion but my humminbird ICE35 is brighter than the humminbird u showed + an experienced fisherman freaked at how clear and bright it was.
Did anyone else notice he compared a top of the line Vexilar with and entry level Marcum M1? It's the lithium shuttle that makes it the same price(which was mentioned on video). The 20 should have been compared to the M5, which I believe is brighter. I know the LX5 was brighter then the VX1. Compare the M1 to the FL8 for a fairer comparison.

Uncut Angling I had absolutely 0 awareness of this issue. I updated my helix and put it into ice mode and never had a problem. I wasn’t aware that this was even a concern until watching this video today. I fished 8 hours last weekend and only used 15% of my standard battery.
I have always loved Vexilars and at times I think they can be to bright. Dad just got the Helix 5 and talk about no battery life even when turned down still think it’s not enough battery. Awesome video Aaron! Now who won the Easter egg???
I used my hummingbird helix 5 outside in -37 for 6 hours today here in Alberta. Battery made it all day lol. Found the screen was bright enough for me. I believe it's on 8 for brightness
Ya the 5 is way easier on battery, because the screen area is probably half the size. The issue with the 5 is that the “flasher” dial is considerably smaller than a standard flasher dial.
Uncut Angling myself personally I can't stand using the circle flasher style. I like the big graph type screen I can see the fish and its behaviour better. Loved the cell phone video by the way lol. I've dropped two iPhones in two winters. Got one back still ticking

My fl-8 cheap vexilar has a real bright screen. No bells& whistles but a reliable cheap unit that works.
Cheap? 400$ dollar.is cheap for you?
@@stevieray667 my fl-8 was only 270.00$. so its a great unit. not cheap but not 400 00$.

Love that your sponsored my hummingbird and your flat out honest. By far the best fishing show out there👍🏻
I am a Vexilar guy so thank you. Thanks for the video!
I just bought a new flx 20 because my neighbor had an older one and I trusted his. I almost crapped when I saw how crystal clear and bright my new one is on the ice. His was decent but the new design from vexilar just looks better all around. I was happy to see the outcome of this video as well.

Lmao. Calling out the butter soft fish house anglers.
hey it's cold out there LOL you try fish outside in -30
Great job Aaron for clearing that up for everyone! Who knew you were so bright! That was sickkkk!
Great video Aaron! I just upgraded from a FL-12 to a Helix 7 and I’m pumped to test it out today!
You’re a beauty!!! Keep the videos coming. You and Jon B keep me busy on RUclips.
LSD unit😂, always uncut👌!
Thanks Aaron!

love the Marcum lithium shuttle, just for the built in rod holder, pretty slick design
the original vexilar had a rod holder on it too...
I believe that is the scene of the famous ice-safety video, is it not ? It is one of my favorites
FISH ON I think so lol😂😂😂😂😂
It is. I believe this is a small char pond close to his house.
matt13smithjones yeah its a small private pond stocked with broodstock arctic chars and hes filmed tons of ice fishing stuff on that pond
The Dream Catcher - private ... how did you know that?
just watch his vids...the cat tails in the background dont change
Your videos are always great. Your super experienced. And definitely always gaining some wisdom from your vids!
Thanks for the side-by-side, but all of that aside, that icy facial hair is the true winner - EPIC!
Sooo Uncut Angling is no longer brought to us by Humminbird Electronics?
Patrick Ballantyne I was thinking the same thing.I don’t think it’s brought to you by anyone anymore
Shots fired
HB def not paying him anymore
Hey Aaron! I'm a Marcum fan, however! ... Good job buddy! Vexilar will work too. I guess. Haha. Keep the vids coming man, you give many people excitement with your creativity and love for fishing. Thank You!

David Chang flx 12 night mode!
Looking forward to the upcoming fishing videos!
Thanks for the great side by side demo. Completely unbiased video , but it made my Vexilar and I feel rather smug. Us bearded men fish outside quite a lot.
Thank you
I’ve never used a flasher before
And I’m buying one tomorrow
So this helped a lot
Love your vidoes
Aaron I really wish you would post more for the broke angler. Example: If you could only have 2 Ice fishing multi species rods which one would you get. MANUAL AUGERS , tackle. Cheapest way to get into a flasher ect.
I got the vexilar aron. Fl18 pro pack. Best ice fishing toy so far.
Just bought M3 and I really like it other the reason I bought it because it was on sale $367.99 at Joe's. Great Vid Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Team Vexilar! I went to Vexilar this year and couldn't be happier!
Thank you for that on this comparison it's quite obvious when you put them side-by-side
I love you channel and the fishing videos better come real quick, else I’m going to go crazy haha but hopefully you’ll be pumping out videos soon!
I AM TRIGGERED! Good video as usual!
Thanks Aaron! Great info. I run a hummingbird ice 35 now and find it suitable for my needs but I don't know how long before my needs change. I mainly fish inside my otter tent.
Any Uncut Angling video is a good video.
The flx 28 is so bright it has a dimmer setting on it for night fishing. Love it
Fisher Man - exactly!!! Haha.
I have a vexilar and love it. Bright, simple and powerful. I am color blind and never had an issue seeing the screen with a vexilar. Others in certain conditions I have trouble seeing. In the shack though, who cares. Use what you like.
Have the 35 for 15 years. Never really thought about screen brightness. Never a make or break for me
Still have the same lead battery too
I have the FL-X-20 and I am in love with it and I have only had problems with it when it is running by a mar-cum.
cant you turn your IR up to filter the Marcum? I run Marcum next to my buddies Vex and he has no issues whats so ever.
Throck I have tried to turn my IR up but it doesn’t permanently work it works a little at first then it doesn’t work :/ do you have a newer model mar-cum

Your ramp up from start to 1:05 is mint lol
Arron, I can’t get past the frozen moustache lmfao. Keeping it classy!!!! Can’t wait for new videos. You should do 39 hours on ice!!!
*I am mainly using this a a depth finder.>>>**allabout.wiki/tcue** and looking for submerged rock piles and structure. Not using the unit to locate fish currently. But it does have that capability for when I do want to use it.*
Digging the mustache icicles.
danny goerges p

Good Job Aaron! Loved the comparison video! Thanks brother.
Miss your videos 🎉 happy new year 🎈
I have a vexilar fl-8 and With the sun shield and being almost seven years old it is still crazy bright
Do I smell a falling out with Humminbird?
Whomever disagree must be pretty biase. I fish my lx7 inside my flip but I will go grab my flx every single time im fishing outside and hole hop. LSD could help the brightness.
absolutely
but it would be really hard to fish the hole what with the dragon guarding it and all
Great video 👍 I love the brown and pink and brown hair jigs in the fishes mouth on the G Loomis touque.
Demitri Bonis - haha those are called flies!
Love the frosty face buddy!
The master has spoken!
Because your butter soft and you never leave your ice shacks lmao
Thanks for keeping it real Aaron
Had Marcus and Vexilars. Too many issues with Marcus so I vote Vexilar. No experience on Humminbirds tho. Great Video.
*Marcums
Thanks Aaron I feel like I just watched a GI Joe PSA knowing is half the battle and now we know
Great work. Good Information. Tight lines, and many Master Angler fish ahead!
All units have ample brightness when on LSD
Do an icefishing version of 39 hours
Marcum Showdown still my favourite!
"...Your butter soft and never leave the ice shack..." LMAO!!!! Nice!
Lots of cuts and edits right at the end of the video, looking forward to seeing more ice fishing videos this winter though. Keep up the good work
Love the vexilar. Always and forever
Great honest comparison
Arron I love your opinion but my humminbird ICE35 is brighter than the humminbird u showed + an experienced fisherman freaked at how clear and bright it was.
Could there be a sight-fishing video coming up???
big bity yeah, through the ice look back to last year where he did it through the ice, same lake, same area with the shack.
Great job, love my FL 12. But would like the FL 20
You know yesterday I said to myself I hope arron should really upload a new video soon maybe of him ice fishing this isn't really what I had in mind but I'll take it, can't wait for you to get on some big water and some trophy Lakers
Aaron you gotta update your helix to the new ice mode! Improves battery life a ton!
Scott Krysa - Come on. Does it still not recognize its own transducer?
Uncut Angling I had absolutely 0 awareness of this issue. I updated my helix and put it into ice mode and never had a problem. I wasn’t aware that this was even a concern until watching this video today. I fished 8 hours last weekend and only used 15% of my standard battery.
I have always loved Vexilars and at times I think they can be to bright. Dad just got the Helix 5 and talk about no battery life even when turned down still think it’s not enough battery. Awesome video Aaron! Now who won the Easter egg???
That mustache has some flow buddy!!
Hey Aaron, hope your doing well. Take care of yourself
I used my hummingbird helix 5 outside in -37 for 6 hours today here in Alberta. Battery made it all day lol. Found the screen was bright enough for me. I believe it's on 8 for brightness
where were ya fishing? i was thinking about heading to Slave on Monday
Ben Oliver I was south east on lac la biche looking for jumbos. Didn't find any lol
Got one back still ticking
peirules154 Do you use Gps with the helix 5? Is it a good unit? I've been thinking about buying one.
YES WE NEED THIS
Thanks for doing this video bruh....I love the Otter ice huts
Great comparison video.
I have an FLX 20 and it is an incredible unit I fish 45 to 65 feet and it is the best I had an ice 35 but the zoom is crap very poor definition. You have to have zoom for bottom hugging perch in 50 ft. of water or you wont see them and that is where the FLX 20 shines and shines brightly!
Hey Aaron, is the Easter egg on your sharp shooting walleye video the microphone and disc at 1:04?
Thanks, great video - excellent evaluation!!
Hummingbird should be using an IPS screens avoiding off angle fadeout.
This was a fun ride
Those that have already made up their mind will die on their swords but this vid is great for those who are at the purchase stage. Good vid, worth producing and sharing.
Where is the follow up video of the complete comparison of models for price ranges eh?
Still waiting for that complete comparison you said you'd be doing at some point in the future for best flasher.....
Keep up the good work!!!
please make another video comparing vexialr, marcum, and humminbird
