Yesterday I called dnr and asked why they don't let water into 10 mile, I was told that property is mostly set up for waterfowl hunting😡. Do you eat dogfish? Nasty looking things. Caught one at bass lake a couple years ago
I don't but some people like them. I love catching them, they destroy tackle but fight like hell! Incredible fish. They have destroyed a great fishery for some BS duck hunting. When I was a kid that place was awesome!
Best fighting freshwater fish in northern Indiana? Not even close. They are all freshwater fish.... Pound for pound smallmouth fight the best... And kings and steelhead are certainly much better fighters than dogfish...
Smallmouth??? Nah, not close. Smallies jump but not nearly as destructive or mean. Steelheads use current. If you'd have said Wiper...maybe. 16" smallie vs. 16" Bowfin...no contest. Dogfish are the meanest pound for pound in the state IMO.
@@MesserFishingTV wipers in northern Indiana? Wipers compared to smallies? Nope. Smallmouth jump? The fact that they bulldog instead of jump off what makes them fight better than largemouth. Smallies are generally considered pound for pound to be near the top of all freshwater fish in terms of fight... To bad they aren't often very big. Steelhead use current? You never caught steelhead in open water? Lake Michigan? Steelhead are the fastest freshwater fish on the planet... They jump ten feet plus into the air... kings.... Don't even need to talk about how kings fight.. but they certainly actually do use current... Very well. Dogfish... Wet bath towel fight.
Smallies are known for their acrobatics, hook spitting machines! I doubt there's a fish that jumps more. The handful of wipers I've caught definitely fight harder than smallies and I've only caught steelhead in the St. Joe. Unfortunately only fished Lake Michigan for perch so far. Dogfish are tackle destroying machines, P4P they get my vote. That's all, just opinion. They're one of my favorites.
@@MesserFishingTV pound for pound... I don't think so... Carp fight harder than smallies... But of the bass species.. smallmouth are known as the fighters. And considered pound for pound.. one of the best freshwater fighters. regardless... It ain't dogfish.
If you think smallmouth fight like a bowfin then you haven't caught many. I don't think they're the best fighting freshwater species but they're far above a smallmouth. Neither one compare to a muskie or even a hybrid bass but bowfin are definitely underrated and fun. Also, smallmouth jump more than any other bass species 👍.
Hey! I live in the Indianapolis area and I am looking for a spot to take my son fishing for Northerns. I used to live in Minneapolis and told my son stories about catching them and he really has the fever for it now. Would you mind emailing me so we can chat a bit about it? If so, I’ll reply back with my email address. Thanks in advance.
Nothing like a toothy critter
awsome action thanks guys im out in the morning u guys rock---- 10 mile----
Great job 👍 awesome pike action.
Thanks!
What part of Indiana are y'all from? I live in Jasper County Indiana
Northwest.
Good video and nice fish! Does the sinker set on the bottom?
Yessir. Put on lighter mono line as well, that way if you snag you only lose the sinker.
Looks like just north of Monterey
In that area possibly 😉
Is this where a creek outlet feeds into a river!!?? I want to know if I’m thinking of the right spot but don’t want to give your spot away
Good times
Finally spring!
Good video
Thanks bro!

@@MesserFishingTV I wish someone would throw those gates in the river so the fish could get in
