I made the mistake of doing the data transfer over the network (wired internal, not even wifi) & it took forever. Wish I had the sense to do it directly as in your video! Great advice & yet another straight to the point, no bs post 👍
Only took me 13 hours to transfer a few games from my PS4 to my PS5 over LAN. I was kinda pissed. I could have just re-downloaded everything much faster. Lol.
I did my PS4 to PS5 over my LAN connection, I had ESO which is 97 GB Skyrim neverwinter Tera and blessed unleashed which are what 50 gigabytes a piece and then whatever small stuff I had it took 23 minutes
@@YoshiBoy No, since for that game you should be using the PS5 version if you have a PS5, which you will need to download since it cannot be on a PS4 (the PS5 version).
Exactly what I did once I got my PS5 over a year ago. Also best to store your PS4 games on an external hard drive so you can just plug it directly into the PS5 and play them instantly.
if you have ps plus, personally I think it's better to put all of your save data from PS4 into the cloud and then redownload the games and save data that you want on your ps5. that way you don't have the games you don't play and capture gallery clogging your PS5's storage, and then if you decide you want to play one of your games that you didn't already download on PS5, you can just redownload your games and their save files when you want to play them

Another way I know of for data transfer is saving the data to/from the Cloud with PS+, and apparently this way is fairly quick as well if you decide to skip the data transfer during the initial setup.
I have a smal tip for all of the new ps5 users who already have a ps4 and only want to transfer the save data to the new console: you can use the Plus cloud or a simple usb pendrive. You can just plug in the Pendrive on the ps4, go to storage, and there you can select your save files and have the option to transfer to the usb sotrage, with the triangle, if I remember. This way, and with the cloud, you can tranfer all of it, a part of it or just one. I think you need to be logged with the same acc on both consoles to ba able to use the saves (save files are bound to the acc)

I did this immediately. However, despite the extra cost, you will want to buy a storage expansion for the PS5 as it will quickly fill up. 1 or 2 TB should be good enough. 4 TB is overkill.
I kept my ps4 pro when I got my ps5. The only game save I wanted to transfer was horizon zero dawn so I could install the game on my ps5 to see if it unlocked a trophy that wasn’t unlocking on my ps4 pro. As it was just one game save I just copied it to an old usb I had found in a drawer. Ps5 is a good console but I couldn’t give up my ps4 pro when it works perfectly and is perfectly optimised with my TV. The only console I was willing to give up was my one x but it depreciated so much that it wasn’t worth trading in for store credit or selling, would of been virtually giving it away. That console is just used to charge my devices from its USB ports like LED lights or my ps5 controller from rest mode. True story.
Early+ I watch all this videos without having a ps5 I got countless invites but didn’t have the facilities to order it 🤷🏾♂️ it’s least I know EVERYTHING to do when I get one. Thanks😁

The video title is very misleading especially this video is also very misleading I suggest you update this video your video title should correctly say some PS5 users forget to do this because when I first set up my PS5 I already knew how to transfer my PS4 data to my brand new PS5 over 5G Wi-Fi it only took a few minutes to transfer everything since I have a high-speed 1 gigabit download speed from Verizon fiber optic Internet modem and just FYI there is a major difference between a ethernet cable and a LAN cable do not confuse people with using a LAN cable simply because it does not provide internet access it only transfers data unlike the ethernet cable does the same job except it can provide internet access and transfer data at 1 gigabit transfer rate that's all I'm going to say

Yes, you can choose what to transfer to a certain degree, as I did more than a year ago, I dont rememberif you can choose wich game or all games only. If its only a few saves, might consider using a normal usb pen drive to transfer (I did with an old ps4 to another for a friend and its pretty much the same, just plug in the Pendrive on the ps4, go to storage, and there you can select your save files and have the option to transfer, with the triangle, if I remember).
If you use an external hard drive it will work automatically with the ps5 without need for transferring. Save information can automatically be pulled from the storage cloud. The method featured here is only necessary if you store everything directly on your ps4
If you have a ps plus just move the games in an external hard drive and backup your save data in the cloud so you can save some space for your ps5 games
I still have my PS4 right next to my PS5 slim . Was not hard to transfer data , in I did it over WiFi . Literally just upload data to the storage cloud then transfer it to the PS5 console. In download a game one at a time , not to overload it . Took less the one hour to download dying light 2 , battlefield 2042 , GTA online & star wars battlefront 2 & assassin's Creed Valhalla with all my save data from PS4

Wish I could have done this. I just ordered one a couple of days ago, but I had to trade in my PS4s immediately and get some of that money back because I technically couldn’t afford it.
This only makes sense if your internet connection is generally crap or has some kind of monthly GB limit. Don’t waste time by transferring the games if you don’t have to.

I just got a brand new PS5 several days ago but had a very hard time with the transfer. Both PS5 and PS4 were signed in, on the same network and updated but still got an error code. After being on the phone all day with PS tech support and no progress, I discovered I had two PSN accounts which were conflicting with each other. PS4 was on one account and the PS5 was on the other. Embarrassing but lesson learned.
My question is, can you transfer what's on a external hard drive connected to a PS4 to a PS5? Becuase if you get an ssd you won't be nearly as pressed for storage space.
Another thing is that the PS4 games stored on an external hard drive aren't encrypted. You can just plug it straight from the PS4 into the PS5, and all your games will be there.
I played games on PC and Switch before getting the PS5 slim and all I can say is I cannot transfer my PS2 save data. Its apparently too big of an upgrade.

Howdy John, it's my current understanding that there are features on many monitors that are beyond the capabilities PS4 PRO rendering them unusable, however, there is so much contradictory information pertaining to this issue that i'm struggling* to identify more than a couple of monitor features that are beyond the PS4 PRO's capabilities & unusable. Even though i've looked through your playlists & didn't see any vids addressing the aforementioned unusable monitor features it's quite possible i missed any such vids....please could you point me in the right direction if you've done such a vid? *The fact i'm currently computer/tech illiterate don't help lol

I used an external hard drive with my PS4, so the transition was much easier. Just plug the disk into the PS5 and I already had everything in it

I just transfered with external HDD always kept ps4 haeddrive as empty as possible, found that helped it to run quietly

Had all my games on an external hard drive for the most part. So for me it was as simple as just plugging the external hard drive into my PS5.

PS4 Pro basically only supports HDR.
PS5 supports VRR and 120Hz displays.
