    Breathing in and out and how he holds it is the key free style on small handheld that keeps the masses interested and entertained

    No other harp player alive can hold a candle to John Popper. I don't care what anybody says

      Im new to it but inclined to agree. I just bought one because of this song. I'm 30 but somehow I completely missed the band until last year

      Stevie Wonder fan here… and still won’t argue with you on that one! Though they mastered different versions of the harmonica, Stevie is more of a chromatic guy.

      Yea only people who disagree are just fanboys of old blues fuys. Popper is so far ahead of the pack it's like he's playing a different instrument. Him vs the second best guy is like guthrie govan vs David grey

      Check out Jason Ricci, LD Miller, Howard Levy, and Greg Hommert, then let me know if you still think Popper is light years ahead of them. But I really dig Popper's playing, singing, and songwriting. I think he is the greatest thing to happen to the harmonica in the past 50 years.

    @blugreenblu Harp and Harmonica are two names for the same musical instrument. Elmo was probably asking about the maker of the instrument or maybe what key the harp/harmonica is in. Key of A, Key of C.

    he was one of the reasons why I started playing. I bought the song book from 'Four' and it even says that he is a master harp player and it may be difficult to replicate what he does. The thing has 1/32 and 1/64 notes in the harmonica part. Still can't play it as well as John, but still trying after all these years.

    Does anyone know if John Popper plays almost entirely lip pursing???
    I'm learning hist stuff with a lot of tongue switching, and at times I'm curious if he's tongue-switching at all (or, a lot).
    I haven't found very much on his technique anywhere.

    So why does he say. "it'll be a little different"? Why? And why are none of the covers I've heard of this solo exactly like the original? Don't know anything about harmonica, but is it basically impossible to play it twice the same exact way?

    • @Lekter
      @Lekter 2 года назад

      Because some people don't like to live in the past and always want to try something different. I'm sure if you paid him good money he would swallow his pride and do it. There is one guy here on RUclips that covered this solo exactly like the studio recording. Look it up.

    Why is it that he doesn't play any of his "live" in-person solos like he did on the album? I mean, it sounds good either way...but I love the cd version of the solo. Has he really forgot how to play exactly that way?

    Why is it that he never plays it live like on the album? He plays it in a very "sloppy and choppy" kind of way with vague notes in between that sound the same. The older version was much more direct on the album. How could he have "forgotten" what helped launch him to fame? That's why people liked it. Now he just seems to want to play fast and randomly, sounding approximately similar to before.
