Truly pitch perfect and The Harmonica Player, like a mash up of the best parts of The Blues Bothers, beyond rad talent that comes around once a generation
You start this song thinking just: "ok... this is a pretty good cover!", but the song keeps getting better and better and better... until, at the end, you are in a f***ing trance, having a full-blown religious experience! Man! John Popper is an absolute LEGEND!
Right at the end, when Popper appears to be ad-libbing, he's actually singing the words to the chorus of Steve Forbert's Romeo's Tune. Just a bit of music trivia for you all.
History will show that John Popper is perhaps one of the most talented musicians of our time. Though he makes it LOOK easy... it is not. Very inspirational!
Would agree...bob dylan greatest songwriter john popper gteatest muscician...he can adapt to any style of music...his voice in this song is as if if sir marley wrote it for his voice
Most people probably don't know who Ian Anderson is, but I know a few who know him thick as a brick, lmfao, but amazing comparison because you are spot on.
Amen, brother Ben! About 6 months ago I was stuck in a hotel room, but luckily AXS TV was showing a concert with the Zac Brown Band with John Popper sitting in. Oh my gosh! Mr. Popper was AMAZING!!! SO GOOD!!!!!
Yea for sure! There's ska which is reggae mixed with big band horns. There could totally be a new genre where reggae is mixed with harmonica blues like this. I'd be its biggest fan. Could call it Carriblues.
The 5 dislikes are from from people that don't know anything about music what-so-ever. John Popper isn't full human. He's like a demigod or something. Love it.
How the hell do you even make A HARMONICA SOLO that damn cool? This whole video is one of those special moments that mankind was just lucky enough to have recorded.
When the Video is over.... And you realize you have been looking at the screen for about 4 or 5 minutes without moving yet, With your headphones still on... Just sitting there looking at a video that has ended... Thats when you realize how God damn impressed you are. I was going to comment that I was speechless but I somehow wrote this.
I had the great privilege of witnessing this incredible performance in person! I had seen JP and Blues Traveler play their 4th of July concert at Red Rocks for many years running as an annual tradition. But this part, of this night, on this July 4th, made this concert like none of the others like I had seen before at Red Rocks. It was the most spiritual experience I’ve ever had at Red Rocks, and I’ve had a few experiences in the over 100 concerts I’ve seen there. Simply amazing to watch John and Ziggy pay tribute in such a beautiful way to Bob, on such a beautiful night, in such a magnificent place!
Jon Popper is a legend! The way he belts out the next lyric after a 2 min harmonica solo is awesome 🤟🏼🤟🏼and when he screams forever towards the end is So RocknRoll.
Music ain't in the colour of one's skin... It's right in the heart. Black, White, Yellow, it doesen't matter, as long you can feel those goosebumps or tears coming down..
He is a legend, god like on both vocals and harmonica- heard he got arrested a few years back for going 110mph in a G wagon filled with guns, night vision goggles and weed. Lol Glad he is still out there in life having fun!
I found this about 4 days ago. Since then, i listen to it at least 3 times a day. One of my favorite BM songs. I once thought Bob was a prophet. I guess i still do
Mr. Popper, I would simply like to say: Thank You. Thank you for performing, thank your for caring, thank you for your style, thank you for having heart. Thank you.
This is why I love technology. To think I could've gone my whole life without having heard this performance...I'm in awe, simply never seen anything like it and probably never will again, brilliant!
I saw him in the last few months and the man's more into his (excellant) advanced renditions of his music than performing. As for me n perhaps him, it's one of the few times I'm truly in the PresenT time ~ no grocery list, errands or chores ~ it's playing music ~ whether by ear or read. I can OnLy FeeL the MuSiC!
Are you kidding? The best of the best. It's this kind of thing that puts Blues Traveler on my greatest bands list. A perfect rendition of an immortal song.
I Cannot believe I have never heard Blues Traveller before this weekend. What a waste of my eats since 1994. John Popper is an absolute magician on the harmonica and his voice is so versatile. Add Lyrics to his songs and you have the most most most underrated musician in the world. Bugger off Covid and let me get to this band live before I die
when was the last time you saw a crowd that big that into a harmonica solo dancing like that? yea, probably never. this was SPECTACULAR, everything about this, the band, ziggy, john, the harmonica, the guitar solo, the vocals, the crowd, the fact its at red rocks (a dream concert venue of mine) is just pure musicianship and talent. they made this look easy and thats absurdly great.
Gave me goosebumps and definitely brought tears to my eyes! John Popper is hugely underrated! Blues Traveler is at a festival in my city tonight and I'm dying to see them!
Absolutely beautiful. Little rough start but when they got it going it was the greatest thing I ever heard. Harmonica solo gave me chills. Hearing that crowd roar when Popper started. Even Marley stopped to enjoy.
Just look at that crowd. Every single person is so into it, and I love every last one of them. Something about thousands of people saying "everything's gonna be alright" is just powerful.
Chris Seaver one of my only RUclips comments, couldn't agree more. This was such a good mash-up. Anyone that questions that harmonica, I link this song

The mutual respect on the stage that night between Popper and Marley was wonderful to see. It was truly an AMAZING performance. Dare I say better than the original?!
John has always gotten that respect from the musicians he plays with. You can always see the pure joy on their faces. They know when they are in the presence of true musicianship. He is not a harmonica player, he is not a vocalist, he is not a songwriter, he is a musician to the core. I owe him more than I could ever convey or repay. Long live BT!
Definitely not better than the original but they have made it their own which is really nice. The best covers are always the ones where the band playing adds their own personal touch to it. Sublime do a pretty cool cover of this song too
John popper has one of those voices that he could be singing the names in the phone book... kids that's the old way of finding a phone number. And I would but the album. Love his voice.
John popper has never gotten the credit he deserves not only for his harmonica virtuosity but his vocal talent as well...
Would love for you to see my interview with John! ruclips.net/video/l8W-4LKwi6U/видео.html
Yeah. His vocals are mind altering.

One talented fellow.
underrated isn't the word you're looking for as he's widely regarded as a virtuoso. 'Fallen out of mainstream' might be a better phrase.
You know that feeling when you watch a video of a gig you wish you had been at? This is one of them.
When Popper fires off it's like a fucking religious experience man!

The more I listen to this song, the better it gets. This song is 100% on God's Ipod.

This is definitely the best harmonica song in the history of mankind

To have been there ...
When you can harmonica a Rasta song. You pretty much win. John Popper is a badass. Saw him at Cain's in Tulsa. Great show. Great musician.
I seen them there too, on what would have been Bobby's Bday. I was born and raised in Tulsa. There's no place like Cains.
