Fantastic information. Consider animal's milk gaining carotenoids from this in their diet and each severed stem still having a chance to fruit around that time of year.
Spicy Exotics it's grown another foot this week! I was worried that it was going to be too hot out there because this is Texas and it's been in the triple digits for a month now, but it seems to be doing good. Can I expect flowers the first year, or do you think that will happen next year instead?
That's so cool! It makes me wonder at what point does the node commit to producing fruit or vegetative growth. How old is the stem that morphed into a fruit? In my experience, fruit is borne on stems that are older than 1 year. If that stem is new growth then it would be even more amazing that it produced fruit.
They look really healthy. I got a cutting from my neighbor a year ago and planted it. Even though it roots and slowly growing, my branches are all yellowish and flat instead of deep green and thick. Is it because too much sun? thank you.
Good question. I have found that fruit sets 50% of the time with its own pollen. For this reason, I use pollen from other varieties. It responds best to its own pollen compared to the other purple flesh hybrids.
Hi. I heard from someone that you need to repot dragon fruit plants after about 2-3 years since the roots would run out of soil in pots. And since I see you have them in pots, do you find this to be the case? But I also see that even though yours are in pots, you have them placed on top of garden soil in some of your other videos. Will the roots grow down into the garden soil through the holes in the pot thus making repotting unnecessary?
My oldest plant is 10 years old and has never been reported. The older plant needs to be pruned more aggressively. I top dress every year. Good compost is a must for this to work.
Very Very interesting👏👏👏
Interesting 🤔. Something very different..
I like this vedio, sometimes i have some of these buds.

O no this is very unique fruit in stem😲😲😲
You sound like Matthew McConaughey
That is so strangely interesting! Cactus plant behavior always surprises me.
Amazing example of how virtually all living being evolve and change. So how did this fruit end up, look and taste?
It tasted normal
When will you have the K1 cutting and other dragonfruit cuttings available back on your website spicy exotic?
Soon, Sign up for variety notifications and we will email you when they become available.
Did you cut it
Yes and it turn out like a normal fruit inside
Did you propagate this mutation? Did it continue to grow fruit in the stem?
We did not propagate. It did fruit completely.
@@Spicyexotics it would have been interesting to see if you could develope a new dragon
I seen that with cacti. Prickly pair making half fruit half flower.
I seen it done opposite when the flowers bud turns into a stem
The origin of this form Korea?
This is a mutation that can happen to any Dragon Fruit.
cool. Love your plants! My cutting that I just purchased has grown two feet in the month that I've had it!
Wow, thats awesome! It must like what you have done to it.
I think you should expect even more growth for the remainder of the year.

It is very unlikely for flowers in year one. Train the new growth to grow downward and that will likely flower in year two.
Great Videos... looking forward on ordering more cuttings soon...
Looks like it's laying an egg

Stems need to be mature. This usually takes a year.
Nice stature of your Dragon fruits garden:)

Yellow is either from disease or sun burn. Move it to a shady spot or provide some sort of shade to see if it's a sun issue.
I had the opposite happen to my flower buds. I had 2 buds revert back to stems
We have lots of those, but they are less exciting to video. Thanks for sharing the info!
Legal, tudo bem organizado
obrigado
Spicy Exotics já colhi 3 igual a essa e ficaram enorme.
Aqui em São Paulo Brasil as minhas começa a produzir em outubro e vai até no mês de maio .
Ola Vicente eu também planto no estado de SP, de que cidade você é ?
What do you use to speed up the root development of plant cuttings
Nothing, just good organic matter.
Is haley's comet a self pollinating variety.

Sir home made a new variety dragon fruit
Very interesting.

Spicy Exotics thank you and I forgot one more question
Does the size of the pot matter? I currently have mine in 5 gallons pots
It really does not matter, but the larger the pot the bigger the plant. Bigger plants mean bigger better fruits.
Spicy Exotics thank you so much !
How many varieties do you have of the dragon fruit?
Could you give me the names of all of them, please?
Please use info@spicyexotics and I will send you a list
Hi how long can you grow in the blue pots before transplant or are they good for years in pots?
We have plants that are over 10 years old and have not been re potted.
Could you send me a list with the names of the varieties that you have?
and you sell to Brazil and what are the values of each change?
Where can I buy a blue ring ? Thanks!!!
Any home improvement store should have it. Check the electrical aisle.
Sir how made a new variety dragon fruit
Weird!! lol
Was that 'stem-fruit transition' from the flower that fell off/first flower you shown at the beginning?
It started as a stem, then transitioned into a flower bud, flowered, then fruited.
This is called mutation
good afternoon
Do you collect pitayas?
How many varieties do you have?
and how many varieties are there in U.S.A?
I have about 100 varieties, but I would say about 40 of them are unique to the 100 that I have.
Do you have any whatsapp contact so we can talk better?
Could you send me a list with the names of the varieties that you have?
and you sell to Brazil and what are the values of each change?
Use our email, info@spicyexotics.com or Facebook messanger
We sell pitaya's at www.spicyexotics.com
We have over 100 and counting
None are native to the USA, with the exception of Hawaii.
