    Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RUclips!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
    WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...

Gly, very well produced! Your explanations of the area, geology and taking the time to talk about the rock structure was one of the best yet, great job! This makes the adventure so much more interesting to really understand what the old timers were looking for and what the rock structure consists of. Having Randy close by so there is some discussion added much. Would be good to have Randy accompany you and the deeper more challenging explorations and would add interesting video of just how hard you work to get into some of those places.

Gly's channel just puts the other mine exploration channels to shame in many ways. I still enjoy/watch some of those others. But they don't even compare in terms of cinematography and a very good explanation of things IMO. It's just really hard to watch those others now. Abandoned and Forgotten Places has really set the bar. LOVE these videos! Even my retired father and mother-in-law love this channel, and watch it often. Keep up the good work!

The geology is very interesting as were all those drifts …..so many drifts and nothing to mine - that we saw this time anyway. Such a massive amount of work blasting into solid rock searching for ore. Over on Mr M’s channel I was amazed at the depth of the shafts - hundreds of feet blasted straight down presumably looking for something based on an educated guess. Mining seems to be one hell of a gamble.

“Gly”: When parts of the hotel were being renovated they filled in that shaft and covered it with concrete. It wasn’t a very large shaft, mostly just exploratory. Rumor and urban legend has made it out to be much more of a thing than it actually was.

Another great video. You might add a small hand held metal detector and scan the soft seams along the way that gold would have traveled. Wish I could do that again, I used to rock climb more than explore holes in the ground, explored caves in Okinawa back in my younger days but the locals frowned on it because there were still dead in them, fortunately I never seen one there. A couple of buddy's and I did find a MIA Marine right on our base, Camp Hansen, we were walking across a wide open field when one kicked at a piece of rusty metal, it turned out to be a completely shattered 45 pistol, I still have the rusty barrel, as we explored further my other friend found a dog tag, I didn't think it was because it was round and not like the WW2 tags I had seen. I did not know that during WW2 that Marine's had different tags than the Army. Well long story short it did belong to a missing Marine and his remains were right there, they were retured to his family, it was a little unnerving. 👍❤🇺🇸

In the second Adit you went into Gly, you completely missed a massive Widowmaker, a massive crack in the back of the mine where it starts about in the center and goes off to the right rib and the gap between the falling piece and the back must have been at least an inch! It was above a smaller collapse that you walked over to explore the rest of the mine. And if a dense guy like me saw it, it had to be something significant, but you seemed to not notice or not care at the least. I'm surprised that you would have moved under it, but I might me making a mountain out of a molehill as I'm certainly no expert. The time mark on the video is 15:44. I know that would have broken a bone or two had it fallen on you or Randy. A broken Shoulder and a concussion would have been a terrible end to your exploring for at least 6 weeks. There were dozens and dozens of scary cracks all along the back of that mine and with the soft material is was carved into I wouldn't have gone further than 20 feet into that mine myself, but you guys have balls of titanium, so that's why I sit at home and watch YOU do all the dangerous work! LOL

If this was a haulage, they did a good job of removing any tracks that might have existed.

Nice to see a return to your original style videos, both geology lesson wise and the basic camera work seeing what you see as you see it. Hope you decide one day to make your old videos public again, I miss 'em.

@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I could have sworn you had more videos, I was going through your original material shortly after finding your channel in daily binges and then the next day it seemed there was a whole batch gone. I'm losing it. =-)

So Gly, that dark rock that was behind you at the beginning of the video is that basically a Lava Flow? I have seen lots of that driving up the 395 in California driving from LA and up through Bishop and north of that. It just looks like at one time lave was flowing until it cooled and dried in cliffs. You know you guys give Randy a hard time but he seems like a real cool guy. Quiet but a nice guy. I hope that Mr. M is doing well. I love his Abandoned and Forgotten Footage channel.

(To quote an old TV show) "Would you believe?" we spent Thursday night in Tonopah and Friday in Goldfield? A little disappointed, almost everything was Closed. But did get a Tee Shirt from the Dinky Dinner for bringing the newly printed Menus from up the street by the Lady that printed them. Young man at the Visitor Center was helpful, but "NO" Tee shirts from Goldfield, just left overs from the closed Ghost Tour. By the way, anyone returning to California, might think twice about using Hwy 168 to Big Pine.

Are those dikes the same as the feeder dikes that we have here in Washington State I'm guessing yes and those are usually 45 to 55% silica that's why the magma is runny

From Randy. I've come across 3 earlier in April. In episode 99 we found a den with 2 rattlesnakes nearby but were not filming yet. They are more scared of us than we are of them.
