Fun fact: the blank white character model in this “game” was actually slightly modified by the makers to have nipples but that’s it. That’s literally the only thing they added to the model. Nipples…….64 grand folks
Lol. From just briefly looking at it I instantly recognized it as the default unreal engine character model. That’s funny that they didnt even create a character they just gave the default one nipples.
The everyone and no one line is so versatile. “when it’s everyone’s job, it’s nobody’s.” “If it’s nobody’s problem, then it’ll become everyone’s.” There are many others, but two will suffice for now.
When a game has to present itself explaining how "we know this looks like a scam but we promise it's not a scam", you can be preeetty sure it's a scam.
If I were you guys. You need to check "Ashes of Creation" they are the most promising mmo to be released in the future. In fact they have RUclips Channel to show their progress. Just type "Ashes of Creation YT Channel".
I mean you can tell it's going to be rough when it uses the default Unreal Engine character models and UI fonts and has no artistic cohesion whatsoever.
We had to use unity to make a game level and pixel game maker to also make a level. I think these guys should just invest in pixel game maker and learn that instead.
@Mr.Springtrap What? CDPR Promised one thing and we got something else. It was not just the bugs. Parts of the game are missing, core game mechanics are missing, cop system was done in last few days so there would be something there...It´s all made to misslead people. I told people that there ware many red flags but i was jump on because it´s CDPR and it´s gonna be perfect. Just few people ware also seeng problems but majority was blown away buy that superb PR.
@Mr.Springtrap If you told me that before CP2077 i would not believe that either. But they did it. Their intention from the begining was not to scam peole but something happened in the developement fase. They cut out what they could use and released it. So many lies and restrictions on the release. Also no reviews on consoles on release day. It was all conciously manipulated because they whanted to make as much as possible before the true got out. They scammed people. Even Sony removed the game from their store...How many has this happened on a release on AAA game? Never! CDPR are not what they ware before and i will never buy anything from them again. Not because of how bad CP2077 was but what they did to cover up and lie on the release to scam people of money. I hope others do the same and never buy their products again. Things like this should never be tolerated.

Con Artists like these are the reason Kickstarter has harnessed such a foul reputation, despite it having fostered projects which turned out to be absolute Masterpieces like Hollow Knight.
Honestly is more of the backers fault. Almost all failed game kickstarters are like this game: an asset flip that promised features that not even AAA devs can't implement. One of the most recent ones I can remember is Day of dragons. Its initial demo was a unity HD environment a with a dragon character running around with bad animations and still got 500k, and the game still in a early beta state with no primary gameplay implemented. Like if people continue to back obvious asset flips they shouldn't be surprised at all the project never comes out.
Much as its reputation for video games is terrible,it actually has a very Good reputation (or, well, did last I checked) when it comes to boardgames. It probably helps that, with the possible exception of the owners of the largest publishers, no one ever actually gets Rich making board games. The best creators make a decent living off it, the rest do it mostly as a side job or as a hobbie that occasionally pays for itself.

well, you *could* make a game that unites many different genres and it'd work very well but if you're trying to put ALL genres in, you basically need to make the game somehow "match-based" you can't throw together people who wanna play the game as fps with ballistics and stuff with people who wanna play the game like an mmo with "auto-aim" and just activating abilities. ignoring all the work needed in the back to deliver an enjoyable performance, i could see an mmo that lets you mine and build like space engineers or no man's sky while also being an fps/3rd person shooter. add to that the option to hire NPCs for different jobs (construction, combat, piloting vehicles...) i could also see how to add an rts-component to that game. with bars and clubs you could then add several different minigames like GTA or the witcher did (bowling, dart, billard, cardgames...). with a nice story, dialogue options, levelling, upgrades to equipment (kinda like borderlands, mass effect or the division) you can then add rpg-elements on top of it and it might be an awesome game. hell, if it's kinda survival-y anyway, you can also add some simulation-elements regarding food (farm simulator) and logistics (truck simulator/flight simulator to sell and deliver produced goods that you don't need) what i don't see however is how you'd add point&click, turn based, sidescroller etc elements in such a game, where's just too many genres that don't fit together except if you go into some "hub" region where you start (team based) matches in which you can have rules that you don't have in the regular game-world but even if devs could craft such a game, it'd probably run like ass (like most, if not all of these voxel-mining-in-a-beautiful-world-with-built-bases-and-vehicles-games do), even more so if you try to let a couple dozen people mine and build on the same world, not even talking about millions...

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I don't think I've ever seen so many red flags in a single kickstarter..and yet some people still gave them money.
So what i got from the trailer portion you showed is that they literally just slapped together nearly every unreal asset they could get their hands on to pitch this project. Every single image showing the game on the kickstarter page is something you can find on the unreal asset store. The note about millions of people in a persistent world.... The only game that i know of that can boast thousands of people in a single instance is in Eve Online and they broke the server. If this "developer" somehow solved the issue of having large amounts of people on a single server i would tell him to prove it. Planetside 2 is one game that can boast being able to have thousands of players on a single server but in reality its more like one big server with multiple smaller servers nested inside of which players interact. Its kinda the reason why i feel that once a region is won it goes into lockdown and people are shunted into another region, its just another way for automated maintenance to happen without players seeing it as such. Its also why while you can be part of a massive battle, once a hex gets saturated with people a limit is imposed and if you die there you get shunted into a different battle area. Eve online also has player limit caps in each system, mainly because one its an old game, but two its because massive battles stress the servers massively. I mentioned in the first paragraph that the latest massive battle that broke an all-time record of people in a single system(instance) and then broke the game as that many people in one system just cant be calculated with precision and weird things happened even with the Time Dilation that Eve has... In all honesty i never heard of this game until this video and im honestly not surprised.
And as a side note on eve, even the "regular" massive battles that break out between factions are subject to server time dilation in order to keep things from breaking. So all these huge battles are glorified slide shows. It's impressive nonetheless due to the insanity to keep that all running

This has been a major topic of contention for MONTHS in the MMORUclipsr-scape. It was pretty obvious this was a scam from the start, no matter how many people they fucking duped into talking positively about it
Lets talk about Game Development terms. Pre-Alpha means "before any game systems are functional". Literally you're talking about the work done after the conceptual stage. Pre-alpha generally has nothing playable to show. Alpha: There is enough work done that you can demonstrate some concepts of the game, but it isn't ready for play. Testing would focus on the elements the developers direct you to test. Expect massive changes from one alpha build to the next, and a lot of place holder content. Beta: There is enough work done to consider this a game. All major game systems should be included by this point, though that isn't always the case. Sections of the game should be "complete" but require polishing. More systesm can be added, and sections can be removed and revamped at this point. Testers should report every "bug" they find at this point even if it isn't what the developers want to focus on. Also testers should provide general feedback. Gold: The game is ready to ship. No further development other than bug fixes should be done at this time. Testing still continues. Generally the development team takes a break unless they know the project is a hot mess rushed out the door despite all the bugs.
I don't even know how people can look at this and invest. They promised to make a single world host millions of players at once. Did nobody notice the trailer showing the engine struggle to render fireworks on a free village asset? OBVIOUSLY the dream was too big for them to even implement an unfinished game optimally for a trailer.
Of the backed ones, I only once had one actually fail to deliver physical rewards (cd, which only released almost a year late, but this happens) but the digital rewards were available. A lot of late promises, though usually kept. However I see a lot of kickstarter ads, that seem extremely fishy. People reinventing the wheel with the dumbest gadgets and already having tons of money and reached their goals. I often think those are used to launder money.
Reminds me of the guys kick starter for a toilet paper roll holder that spins so you can have the tp outward while your lover can have it inward. Claimed it was a problem that ruined marriages. 😆😆😆
FYI if you let players upload random files, which merely "self identify" as 3D objects via their extension, and then have these files automatically download onto other players machines you should probably have a staff large enough to have people on network security.
Uh... yeah... there's a lot here.

Not because of how bad CP2077 was but what they did to cover up and lie on the release to scam people of money. well, you *could* make a game that unites many different genres and it'd work very well but if you're trying to put ALL genres in, you basically need to make the game somehow "match-based" you can't throw together people who wanna play the game as fps with ballistics and stuff with people who wanna play the game like an mmo with "auto-aim" and just activating abilities.
ignoring all the work needed in the back to deliver an enjoyable performance, i could see an mmo that lets you mine and build like space engineers or no man's sky while also being an fps/3rd person shooter. add to that the option to hire NPCs for different jobs (construction, combat, piloting vehicles...) i could also see how to add an rts-component to that game. with bars and clubs you could then add several different minigames like GTA or the witcher did (bowling, dart, billard, cardgames...). with a nice story, dialogue options, levelling, upgrades to equipment (kinda like borderlands, mass effect or the division) you can then add rpg-elements on top of it and it might be an awesome game. hell, if it's kinda survival-y anyway, you can also add some simulation-elements regarding food (farm simulator) and logistics (truck simulator/flight simulator to sell and deliver produced goods that you don't need)
what i don't see however is how you'd add point&click, turn based, sidescroller etc elements in such a game, where's just too many genres that don't fit together except if you go into some "hub" region where you start (team based) matches in which you can have rules that you don't have in the regular game-world
but even if devs could craft such a game, it'd probably run like ass (like most, if not all of these voxel-mining-in-a-beautiful-world-with-built-bases-and-vehicles-games do), even more so if you try to let a couple dozen people mine and build on the same world, not even talking about millions...

Taquito Bandito is actually my ex fiancé. He proposed last week, and when I went to get the ring adjusted, the jeweller told me it couldn't be done because the ring was fake and would melt completely if he tried to resize it. I called off the engagement straight away.
Ah, that idiot. 🤣
Wow. I did not expect a reference to this on Yong's video.
Thanks for writing that though Rabbitlord. It gave me a good laugh.
Whelp, add this one to the Chronicles of Elyria and all the rest pf kickstarter scams.
If you can not recognize all the glaring elephant sized warnings signs to this being a scam or an unrealistic fantasy then you should have a conservator placed in charge of your money.
It's always a really good sign to see the standard Unreal Engine Character in a game trailer.
If these guys can claim to be “devs” with that little experience, then I’m a better chef than Gordon Ramsey because I watch Chopped once in a while when I’m microwaving pizza rolls🙄
lol everything about this stunk from the beginning.
I’m so glad you’re covering this dumpster fire. I want as many eyes on these dirt bags as possible. They were hoping to name a quick buck and dip out but now they’re under a microscope
"...these boys are not trying to scam anyone."
i love how she refers to her ex fiance as a boy.
like damn, he's not even a man in her eyes
Fake ring, fake relationship, fake man, fake game, fake everything.
Mark Jacobs said it a long time ago. MMOs have to be addictive on some level to be profitable.
And scams like this rely on that heavily.
Thanks dude 👍
Thank you, I learned something and can confirm I at least made an alpha at one point in my life (a demo for college).
Thanks for that. I know little about how games are made.
I don't even know how people can look at this and invest. They promised to make a single world host millions of players at once. Did nobody notice the trailer showing the engine struggle to render fireworks on a free village asset? OBVIOUSLY the dream was too big for them to even implement an unfinished game optimally for a trailer.
This game looks like they shoved some crash test dummies into the closet to Narnia.
Underrated commentr
24:11 Notice how Kaplan squeezes his eyes. He's doing that so his smile looks more authentic.
The game is asset flipped? Oh boy...wonder if Jim Sterling caught wind of this news...
Why because Jim sterling just flipped his assets?

FYI if you let players upload random files, which merely "self identify" as 3D objects via their extension, and then have these files automatically download onto other players machines you should probably have a staff large enough to have people on network security.
I can feel my security senses wince at the potential malware payload...
can't wait for players to start uploading nude SFM models
People should go to jail for things like this, we really need to stop this trend of "hope selling"
