Chuck, I am a Self emoloyed plumbing in Buffalo NY. (ALL-, PHASE PLUMBING, HEATING, SEWER and DRAIN CLEANING). To me its better than being a SENATOR 🤔🤔! Anyways I just purchased a Ridgid "K--,1500" the K-7500 is TOO HEAVY for me to go up and down the stairs Alone (just turned 50 in Sept) anyways I think I should have went with the machine you got I like the versatility. For me to go from 1and 1/4, cable to 7/8 cable I have to change the Jaws. I'm hurt with my back the last few weeks and I'm going Crazy staying home. My apprentice is doing the jobs he can do Wich is most of them. Thanks for the videos. I must be Crazy 😜, I have been in the Plumbing profession since I was 17 and 34 years later I watch Plumbing videos in my Free time 🤔🤔🤔
Your drain cleaning videos are getting me closer to buying one. I’ve got the Milwaukee 1/4” drum, an old rental machine with a 50’ x 3/4” cable and that’s it. Now I’m picking up a trailer park for plumbing maintenance and I’m thinking about putting money into my pocket vs the sewer only guy. It’s common for my area for plumbers not to do this. My only limitation is that the machine I have is so heavy. This looks like a solution. Thanks Chuck for another great video! I think I’m sold.
Try using a Rigid Flex shaft. Have to have a good Cordless Driver with 9am battery. The flex shaft are a bit expensive but like any Ridgid last and works exceptionally. The “chain knockers are unusual at first but easy to work with. Bought a Rridgid Flex 201. Amazon, payed for it in two jochst….
Reading the comments and laughing at all the "I'd use My drum machine" which take up at least 35% of your work vans space not to mention they're heavy. These sectional machine are 100% more modular take up less space and most importantly LIGHTER. The 5208 is light years ahead of the K60 and less cumbersome than the K1500. Nice work Chuck!!!!
A Chuck nice to see your heart at it I hope you and your plumbing career succeed sir I don't see no failures at this point am I head off to your friend there nothing like a good friend have a great weekend sir

Enjoy ur videos Chuck. Couple things that may help in the future. When you put the cables back in the cradle reconnect them, then when you have to pull them out on the next job you won’t have to reach into the cradle to find the next cable. Also I put the ball on my camera head closer to the lens. Maybe 2” back. Not in the middle where you had it, which could cause the lens to dip as you push. Of course experience is the best teacher so snake on.
hi chuck 38 yrs as a plumber for grease use the spade cutter 1st then the C cutter to clean all round the pipe then i use a bath or tub of water and all the pans to flush the line
Hey Chuck, nice new and very sturdy looking machine! It looks like a more modern version of your other sewer machine. I know you'll have fun with it and your new camera too. I just found another drain cleaner you tube channel called Drain HQ. He cleans drains in New Zealand using snakes, a flex shaft, and a jetting machine. The plumbing there (especially the gully traps) look similar to but not exactly the same as plumbing in Australia. He explains the function of the plumbing system components in some of his videos. I've always loved looking at plumbing and drains/sewers and it's especially interesting to see the differences of how it's done in other countries. An interesting fact I learned: Melbourne's Western Sewage Treatment Plant is the largest in the world. It's lagoon treatment ponds covers more area than any other treatment plant in the world by far. Melbourne has been treating it's sewage there since 1897. It is not the largest by treatment capacity though. I think the Montreal, Quebec plant has the largest treatment capacity in the world.
Great new tools man I still work with the old model that ways a ton when I get a chance to pull out the jetter with camera I don't call it working keep going bro keep loving the job👍
I'm using the K60SP with a 3/8" and 7/8" cable. It's the only logical option for me when cabling through a roof vent. Try carrying a drum machine up a ladder ( and yes, I've carried a Gorlitz medium machine up a ladder many times) ! One caveat, it's not fun pulling the 7/8" cable out of the vent when running over 75". Right now in Phoenix, the weather is a beautiful sunny 70deg. But doing this in the summer heat on a roof is a nightmare! I've also managed to use a large drum machine (Gorlitz) by laying it on it's back on the ground and running the cable up and through a rung on an extension ladder over the roof.
Ps Chuck i have a jetter and K1500 and K 45 and Milwaukee drain snake and Milwaukee air snake all the toys have some problem's and all are great as well plumbing like that

Cool video i'M not a plumber but its amazing to me how far the tools of the trade have come. I HAVE A QUESTION: Have a toilet that is loose it is cast iron pipe with the lead thing at the top the last time i had it fixed the plumber said the lead was split broke or something. This is in a basement house built in 1960 open ceiling can see pipes can this be fixed without having to replace the cast iron pipe? If so what is the best way to have it fixed?

Haha I heard you telll george about the grease advice I gave you!....Hydro jett will break up all that grease....I think the flex will chop it up but jetter is best option.
have not had a root job yet...its motor is a beast. maybe check out the motor size...im not sure on that but she a beast...i like it but i like the k60 too...eyeballing one.
Thanks @ 1:00 instead of feeding the cable in from the front…….could it just de fed from the back? Seems like a foolish question I’m just paying extra attention trying to learn. I ordered 2 flexshafts and a Ridgid seesnake last night to start my drain cleaning biz……I watch you and the Drain Medic and another content creator. Wish me luck bud.
flex shaft that grease set your chains to the diameter of the pipe. You might not have the right size flex shaft. I have the 3/8 I use for mains but moving up to half-inch this week.
@@ChuckBarron the model C is a sectional with a self feeding action no need to force your cable in, only downside is the spade bit will get caught in pipe breaks and cause binding very common here in Detroit
What type of drum machine do you use on 2-6 drains? I’m 57 and starting a plumbing company. I’m trying to purchase the lightest, simplest way of dealing with drain cleaning. I have two Ridgid drain guns and a kinetic ram and two drain cameras. (Large and small) but I need a machine for 2-6. I was also going to buy a Ridgid Flex Shaft, but not sure what size to buy. I also have a 4018 USJetter trailer unit. 😁 if you can give any tips on what an older guy could use please share. I have about 8-10 k to spend on drain tools.
I have general 90 and lil drum. ridgid K1500 and 5208 for sectionals, ridgid k-50, ridgid flex 109 and 209. The No jet yet. as far as recommending. man. Im not sure. maybe call rep...I have nothing for 6-8" except what i own now. Can anyone help out John A??
Hey, I'm originally from (born in) Reading, PA too. Now I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I lived in Reading (Pennside) from 1967 to 1979. I was there for a few days back in July for the first time in 17 years.
Sometimes when the city sewer is running at half tide it can plug at the connection , depends on the elevation and where it connects to the main. Top part at 45% OK side not so much . I've seen some weard things in my day. No inspectors the wild wild west.
This is my favorite drain snake machine, I also like the Electric ELL, but only draw back to that machine is it is so dam heavy, getting it into place especially basements is like wrestling a grizzly bear, I am too dam old for that stuff anymore to be wrestling these machines up and down the stairs. I do like the ELL the best for long runs over 50 feet because it’s cable has a center cable (2part cable) so its almost impossible to break, as oppose to the rigid which just has the one piece spring cable.
@@r4h_ yup, they are heavy, but when you have to snake a long run like 150ft you want that heavy duty cable, last thing you want to do is break one of them in the main line, then you be out there bustin you but digging it up, and trust me, that sucks.
@@jeffreykreft5442 yup, been there done that. Not fun. Technically by code there should be a clean out every 100ft. If you have to push more than 100ft then you should be recommending to install a clean out
@@r4h_ allot of the houses in this city are like that, 6 inch clay crock 200ft to the main line from the house. I have replaced about 20 or so of these lines, but its hard to get the homeowners to spend 4k on a new sewer system, so they pay me every year to come snake the sewers for roots, bit thats ok, I'll go there every year to snake the main line, easy 200 bucks.
Hey Chuck great video, I know this video is a year old but I'd love to know how you're liking the 5208, probably ordering one this week, also what size cable are you running? Thanks again man love your videos.
Nice video, Once you get a Jetter you will hardly use the snake and you'll be upselling the jet all the time. Check out the Mongoose Van Pack 187. thats the model i have. I own a Drain Cleaning company out of NJ. Stay safe and blessing with your business.
CB-1 man I was so excited to see the 5208 in action. What size cable were you running and how many feet did it come with new? Wow I love this shit. I can't wait to see the follow-up video on this project I hope it comes out on Sunday. I know you're having a blast with your new toys have fun. Peace brother. Oh yeah tell George to stay out of the way of the camera so I can see what's going on lol.
Chuck Barron I run a Rooterman company in CT. We have 2 Harben jets . 1 trailer and 1 truck mounted they are older. The new jets are 50k . I’m looking at small van packs in the 8k range now from Mytana . They are small fit in a van and a quarter of the price they don’t pack the same punch but should work . If you want to talk let me know I’ll call you I don’t want to put my number on here .
No, Chuck had it in the right position, its called a Lazy Susan & you feed the coils in from the front, but usually only one coil at a time so the coil is not hanging out the rear guide hose wiping about.
@@jstu45 Fair enough, it can be used either end if you want, but Ridgid intended that it would be typically used at the front of the machine just off to the side so that the operator doesn't need to go back & forth to the cable guide several feet back to spool the cables in & out of the lazy susan cable carrier.
The company i m working for has jetters, 1 carried in truck, 2 trailers for underground. To be honest, if you don't have enough commercial, industrial, or apartment customers, just hire a company with jetters, and bill ur customers for ×1.5 or ×2. Many plumbing companies doing that. Jetter is cool and much powerful than snake for sure, but, it's not a daily used plumbing machine. It ll cost you more than you know.
best thing for that would be to come back with a jetter, go through toilet or inside cleanout, and start from building sewer to the city sewer, or use flex shaft with 4 inch chains
Hey chuck Warthog nozzles by stoneage will make any jetter work like a beast. We have owned 3 USjets and they are awsome. They even sale conversion kitsch for other jets like mongoose etc. Check out the WWETT trade show in indianapolis. Its swap meet for all of us terd herders lol. And u get go deals at the show. Everyone who makes any kind of machine/camera/jet etc will be there. It's like disney for us.
If ur gonna buy a jet WWETT is were u wanna go. USjet also has large lineup of used machines. Also there will be companies there that finance strictly equipment
If I had your email or if you are on Facebook messanger I can send you the link. I want to see if I can buy the head and attach it to my ridgid flex shaft. Once you see the head you'll know what I'm talking about and why
From what I can see, the pipe has a lack of grade or a "belly". When the grease cools down, it solidifies, then when it reaches this belly the solids (grease) slows down and gets stuck in this section which, over time, has caused your friend a grease blockage. The best way to clear the grease is with a hydrojetter. Snake won't help, no matter what cutter you use. You might have some luck with the flexshaft. I would def give that a try, I've never personally used one before. Looks like the city recently installed that clean out by the curb. I know exactly what happened, I see this all the time. When the city installed their clean out, they plumbed it in to high which caused the belly. They (or you) need to replace the clean out but plumb the new one in lower. That will fix the belly.
Bro, you should really set up the machine closer to the drain. You have too much shaft out between the drain and the driver. If it gets caught up you would be surprised how fast it can wind up and spring back at you. Its pretty dangerous. Seen some guys get smacked pretty hard doing it similar to how you were doing it. Stay safe.
He knows what he’s doing. He’s using his left hand to secure that cable. When that cable binds you’ll hear that machine struggle. He’ll also feel that tension in the cable while he’s holding it. His face isn’t that close to the cable. He’s aware of the type of sewer he’s snaking and weather or not he’ll hit any areas it could bind.
What is a Jetter? What's a Sewer Jetter? Sewer jetters, also known as “hydro-jetters” or “water jetters”, are powerful drain cleaning machines that use high-pressure water jets to clear obstructions in residential and commercial drain pipes as well as larger municipal sewer systems. What is a Jetter used for? What is sewer jetting? Hydro jetting (sometimes called sewer jetting) is an innovative method plumbers use to maintain the health of the plumbing system and to completely clear out the inside of pipes - even stubborn and hazardous main line clogs A sewer jetter is a heavy duty lightweight hose that attaches to a pressure washer to unclog: Main Drains. Landscaping drains. Sewer line What is a jetter hose? SEWER JETTING HOSE Its' bonded construction features a tight bend radius that resists kinking for better cornering, bending and twisting. A tough Polyurethane cover resists abrasion and fungus for sewer jetters. Sewer jetter hose is available for 2500 psi, 3000 psi, and 4000 psi operating pressure. What is hydro jetting sewer lines? The principle of hydro-jetting sewer lines involves the use of extremely high-pressure water to obliterate blockages. Threaded deep into the sewer pipe at the end of a thin, flexible water line, the head contains tiny jets that dispense hot water at knife-like pressure up to 4000 p.s.i.What is hydro jet cleaning? Hydro Jet. A hydro jet is a more sophisticated plumbing tool for clearing drains. It consists of a high-pressure hose with special nozzles that can be attached to the terminal end. It connects to a machine that pressurizes the water, whose force is what makes the drain free from clogs. Can Hydro jetting damage pipes? While hydro jetting is a great option in most cases, it can pack a powerful force. If you have older, more fragile pipes, the water pressure could cause damage in some areas. ... They can scope out the state of your pipes and take down the pressure to prevent damage or other issues.
You got the skid! Nice. You want to position the skid all the way at the front of the spring, closer to the camera head. That way it thoroughly props the camera head up and out of the gunk. The skid will also help if you ever need to get a different camera angle. For example, if the camera is positioned in a way that is making it hard to see the top of pipe, give an ever so slightly tug backwards, and it will tilt/angle the camera lense upwards so you can see the top of pipe. Vice versa to angle the lense forward to get better visual of the bottom of pipe. Hope that makes sense. Plumb on brotha! PS. If you're going to buy a jetter, DEF buy US Jetter. PSS. I'm currently looking for a new employer. Wish you were in California! Sad face.
i hate those heavy drum machines-the very idea of that they are better especially with cable strength and ability to only use the amount of snake you need. if your using a drum machine or 3 they take the whole van up... i'd say your doing it wrong. and yes I am a licensed plumber of 30years. sectional only way to go. Ill tell ya though what we can agree on is the wonderful invention of the "Camera" system. it saves so much of the hard work we use to do when they didnt exist.

chuck what do you think of the K5208? I have a k60 I love it but sometimes it struggles with heavy roots, curious on how the K5208 does
have not had a root job yet...its motor is a beast. maybe check out the motor size...im not sure on that but she a beast...i like it but i like the k60 too...eyeballing one.
HOW MANY TIMES DO U HAVE TO TELL GEROGE THAT WOWOWOWOW LOVE THE ALL VIDIEODS
lol
Can I ask a question to the plumber please?
Sure....
Or nah?
flex shaft that grease set your chains to the diameter of the pipe. You might not have the right size flex shaft. I have the 3/8 I use for mains but moving up to half-inch this week.
Robert....we just chatted on fb....that machine you have is a beast. I like it.
For tough clogs get an electric eel model C, for great cleaning use jetter
Thanks for the tip!
@@ChuckBarron the model C is a sectional with a self feeding action no need to force your cable in, only downside is the spade bit will get caught in pipe breaks and cause binding very common here in Detroit
The eel does have a little bit more power for sure, this machine is just sooo much easier getting in and out of houses all day. No mess
Hydro jet?
Not then! But now We got the mack daddy of a set up!!
Do you like drum or sectional machines? 1 1/2 to 4" drains
depends on job. I use both.
What's the reason for that type of snake!???
Great for one man show and compact and self contained for easy carry and set up.
Chuck, I so appreciate your generous response, your a absolutely great guy. Thank you!
Brother we in this together.
Hi chuck,
What kind of Jetter are you thinking of purchasing?
Have a great weekend.
Chad from Reading,pa
Hey, I'm originally from (born in) Reading, PA too. Now I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I lived in Reading (Pennside) from 1967 to 1979. I was there for a few days back in July for the first time in 17 years.
not sure. need some schooling for sure.
Jed in da house!
How do you like the new drain machine??
Role player but I do like it when it works.
Do you recommended? I’m considering investing in one? Or maybe the k60
Sometimes when the city sewer is running at half tide it can plug at the connection , depends on the elevation and where it connects to the main. Top part at 45% OK side not so much . I've seen some weard things in my day. No inspectors the wild wild west.
poo flows downhill. great livign on a hil compared to other homes = better yet, whilst they back up and have issues you notice nothing ;)
ya....bottom line here is they should of changed water and sewer when we told them to.
@13:24 you like that "plumbing cold case" phrase now!
Well folks the case it warming up now!
Yes. Good one...ha.
Inner core cable. That's what makes the machine so damn heavy.
I have replaced about 20 or so of these lines, but its hard to get the homeowners to spend 4k on a new sewer system, so they pay me every year to come snake the sewers for roots, bit thats ok, I'll go there every year to snake the main line, easy 200 bucks.
sounds like my old general....that joke drop dead heavy.
Hydro jet would be great for these paper stoppages
Gotta buy one....its coming koko
Chuck Barron that’s great news! What jetter are you planning on picking up Chuck?
Hey Chuck great video, I know this video is a year old but I'd love to know how you're liking the 5208, probably ordering one this week, also what size cable are you running? Thanks again man love your videos.
a beast. I bought another and still waiting, Thanks Covid. I use 1/1/8
@@ChuckBarron sounds good man I can't wait to get it. Thanks again for your response too. Hope you have a great day man.
Is George one of your crew CB ?
no a good friend who also a plumber.
Oh yeah tell George to stay out of the way of the camera so I can see what's going on lol.
lol...George back out please.
Get the Jet we have two AWESOME
What company you guys using?
Chuck Barron I run a Rooterman company in CT. We have 2 Harben jets . 1 trailer and 1 truck mounted they are older. The new jets are 50k . I’m looking at small van packs in the 8k range now from Mytana . They are small fit in a van and a quarter of the price they don’t pack the same punch but should work . If you want to talk let me know I’ll call you I don’t want to put my number on here .
Cuanto cuesta esa máquina
3K plus cables.
I think...Reel goes directly behind machine...so when you hit reverse it will go into the reel
No, Chuck had it in the right position, its called a Lazy Susan & you feed the coils in from the front, but usually only one coil at a time so the coil is not hanging out the rear guide hose wiping about.
@@mrdrains2088 lots use it at the rear of machine
@@jstu45 Fair enough, it can be used either end if you want, but Ridgid intended that it would be typically used at the front of the machine just off to the side so that the operator doesn't need to go back & forth to the cable guide several feet back to spool the cables in & out of the lazy susan cable carrier.
I copied off instructions and their youtube vid.....ha.
them cable carriers still heavy with 3 cables in them. Im getting soft.
Thanks Sean
best thing for that would be to come back with a jetter, go through toilet or inside cleanout, and start from building sewer to the city sewer, or use flex shaft with 4 inch chains
Also there will be companies there that finance strictly equipment
thanks carl. appreciate that.
Thanks again
CB the jetter will get it done
yes sir.
If I had your email or if you are on Facebook messanger I can send you the link. I want to see if I can buy the head and attach it to my ridgid flex shaft. Once you see the head you'll know what I'm talking about and why
links in description...thanks
That’s so much work... I’d be done and loading my drum machine back into my van by the time that was set up. Lol
You and me both!
Your drum machine is old news. Haven’t used our drum machine once since we got 3 of these
And your lower back thanks you
Way more work than I want to do.... those sectional machines are too much... but. You can load in the back of a pickup easier..
My Neck! My back! Ha. whats up robert!
only run it in reverse if its stuck otherwise it damages the cable
Thanks Benny
Yes. Its coming rah..sooner than later Im sure.
Stay safe.
Thank you O!!
Does Ridgid sponsor you?
No sir. Im just a fan
Hydro jetting (sometimes called sewer jetting) is an innovative method plumbers use to maintain the health of the plumbing system and to completely clear out the inside of pipes - even stubborn and hazardous main line clogs
A sewer jetter is a heavy duty lightweight hose that attaches to a pressure washer to unclog: Main Drains. Landscaping drains. Sewer line What is a jetter hose?
SEWER JETTING HOSE
Its' bonded construction features a tight bend radius that resists kinking for better cornering, bending and twisting.
WTF !
Get em tom....A wealth of knowledge for the boys and girls of plumbing.
hydro jet.
no doubt.
@@ChuckBarron this will be my 4th week plumbing and its great. fun to learn and im going to fly with it
You got the skid!
Sad face.
Absolutely correct Rah.
Thanks Rah, really appreciate that...
Thanks HQ.
The worm is a retriever head. Made to hook and oull back said blockage.
Thanks Mr. B
Your shits my bread and butter..... Plumbers motto.
amen.
Grease glaciers, grease stalactites and grease bergs.
here comes the the titanic of terds...lol
Stick a camera down that... do a triple flush simultaneously
cameras are so key. Im a noob camera user. Love it.
That was the gator saying I am full.
gator down stream.
A jetter will do the job
yes. Its coming.
You just tore the crap out of the customer's brand new concrete wall.
if the snake is by the street id stop and call out the city to deal with it.... no reason to risk your tools for a blockage in city pipes
Ya we did. all is wonderful in ventnor now...ha
@@ChuckBarron my buddy had his snake get stuck in the city sewer and was a very expensive mistake lol....
LOL two days to clear a sagg line
weeeeeeeeeeee so fun.
I would have been done already with my spartan you waste so much time with that machine
ya the fun is over.
It's good if you want to have a good work out lol
Who cares about the curb u should try and running it while lift your hand up under the cable lot easier on the shoulder way to clean it
i hate those heavy drum machines-the very idea of that they are better especially with cable strength and ability to only use the amount of snake you need. if your using a drum machine or 3 they take the whole van up... i'd say your doing it wrong. and yes I am a licensed plumber of 30years. sectional only way to go. Ill tell ya though what we can agree on is the wonderful invention of the "Camera" system. it saves so much of the hard work we use to do when they didnt exist.
Those things need too much room
the drum is just a bit of a heavy weight. So many aptions. The drum would of been perfect here.
......?????????
CHUCK MUST BETTER ENDING INSTEAD OF SCREAMING AT THE END OF VIDEO'S , SORRY BUD BUT SCREAMING IN YOUR OTHER VIDEO'S IS LIKE SCRATCHING ON A CHALK BOARD , NO HATE BUD JUST SAYING, OTHER THEN THAT DECENT VIDS
