I learned very quickly while playing any multiplayer game, playing to win will infuriate any decent player. As long as I’m matched against similarly skilled players, get a good kill or two, and am progressing my ship in a meaningful way I’m happy. However if my team annihilates the enemy team or they annihilate mine, or teammates don’t support each other then I’ll be pissed. They need to do away with the dom game mode or at least add a new mode for legends cause most people just want to play TDM with warships anyways.
Yep. Sums it up pretty well. Players and RNG. There isn't anything in this game for good players. They've made the game so overly casual, so catering to the average wowsl player (to sell digital ships and cosmetics), that it feels like the game actively punishes/trolls you for being good at the game. In my experience, I should be having way more of an impact on the outcome of the match catching so many players broadside or out of position, them constantly making mistakes, but the game just gives me the middle finger 49 times out of 50. But oh boy, if I make the slightest mistake I pay for it virtually every time, like I'm playing the game on legendary difficulty and almost everyone else is playing on baby-easy game journalist difficulty. So if nothing I do matters because "everyone gets a trophy" why play the game? It's like running the 100 yard dash and the devs strap a 4 ton anchor to me and pretend it's a fair race. I don't need that kind of frustration in my life.
I was wondering where the content had gone, it’s good to hear where you’ve been. I pray that we finally get a halfway *decent* update to revitalize the community. We’re all getting a little tired.
Well, obviously, this game isn’t for everyone. I think whats helped me play this game everyday is to accept the fact that all of us are ruled by RNG and sometimes you’re the hammer and other times your the nail. But I understand your point. And I’m sorry that I won’t be seeing you in matches as much. Regardless, I do hope you find your niche. And continue creating content for us.
Every update RNG seems to be trickled up making it harder for good players to carry. I think what WG is trying to do is make the game so super casual it's less likey anyone really stands out. The "everyone gets a trophy" (so give us money) approach. The problem with that is it's actively dumping on your best and/or veteran players, the people who've put in the work to get good at the game and are in the best position to teach others how to play the game well. When you punish skill and reward mediocrity guess what you get more of? Hence the playerbase. I feel so held back by rng I never get to be the hammer, no matter how badly my opponents are playing, so why play the game?
@angelrambojr4587 I have said it before, but RNG is not the only problem. I regularly look at the draw before the start of the game (to work out the best strategy) and can generally work out how the game will pan out before it starts.
Just yesterday my team was winning with 2/3 caps and we had 7 ships the enemy had 3. I go to help my mom with something and I come back to the defeated screen. HOW TF??!! Randoms are so bad it's tragic
I took this campaign off for the first time since launch, and you know what?? I didn’t miss it one bit, because of what you just described in the vid! Not sure if I’m hanging up the captains hat or not, but I’m sure as hell not going to waste hours every evening playing this slop.
The real issue lies with us. The game hasn't changed, we have. The better you become at a given task, the higher the expectations of success in any given venture. You begin to recognize the mistakes of others much more, and it takes away from the fun. Just relax and play. Lower your expectations. 😅
lol, that's a hell of a premise for a pvp game, if you can't beat the potatoes, join 'em. I'm sure that's great for the long term health of the game. You are correct that often when one becomes better at something the higher the expectations. The problem here is we have a game run by devs who reward stupidity and medocracy and punish skill and effort for short term monetization. If you want this game to last you must reward the people who are willing to put in the effort to get good and stick around so they can show others how to improve, not driving away your best with rng protecting bad players. Even some of the CC's for this game, people whose livelihood is tied to it, are starting to lose interest because it's getting so difficult to make interesting content from the game out of a combination of terrible teams and rng evening everything out which is death to a pvp game. I use to play this game everyday. Now I can hardly be bothered to do the bare minimum for bureau projects, etc. which I usually just do vs bots now. I can stand being on a bad team if I'm still allowed to crush players who make mistakes over and over, but I can't stand being on a bad team AND not being allowed to carry/punish. There is no point in me playing if I'm not allowed to impact the match.
I hope u don’t quit because there’s people like me who watch your tutorials and learn from you. I’ve been playing since 2020 and after watching your vids I wanna get into CV’s. It’s something different for me
Fully agree, it's why I only play super part time now. I find it very unenjoyable for the most part but after so much investment over the years it's hard to quit outright.
if my team is going to lose i just leave the game and move on if we are only 5 minutes in and my team is losing im already in the next game i dont want kills if we are not going to win
lol! Man, My thoughts exactly on many WOWSL games. I just have learned not to take it too seriously. I accept that my first 10 games are gonna be losses until the game decides to stick me in a lobby with equally skilled players on my team. I also accept that I can't carry the team. You sir, are trying to carry your team. Stop it. You'll just make yourself go insane. Also, block all incoming messages from trolls. Also, turn off all in game messaging unless you and a buddy are in a division. Other than that, I get it, trying to do specific missions can be hard with a team of morons. Don't fall into that grind. If they have a stupid long grind for a dumb daily mission, just ignore it, go plop yourself into your favorite DD at low tier 3 or 4 and do some seal clubbin. Have fun. You deserve it. That's how I play this game. And I have fun. It's a good time killer.
Doc, I have 23k games. I feel your pain, but Ive had better games and still also loss. One that comes to mind in 189k kraken in the Suzuya and still lost. But yes I know exactly what you’re talking about.
I never liked War Thunder. Every time I try to get into it, I quit. Nothing but back line sniping, 1000+ hour, bush wookying mofos. Game is one tap simulator. I'm good lol.
We can blame the players, but that is a WG issue. If they actually cared about making a decent game instead of just something pretty that lines their pockets, they would have a tiered system for players and tone down the RNG. Your kills/damage/wins etc should contribute towards you going up or down. Instead of balancing the game with RNG, it should be that all players are on a similar level. If waittimes are a little higher, I have no problem with that. I am not holding my breath for a solution after the FB account told someone last year to stop complaining about a skill issue (using a gif). Players are allowed to complain about other players skill level, but when WG doesn't see it as a problem for their customer that needs to be solved, you have clarity about the disrespect they have for the player base.
I would rather wait two minutes for a good match and have fun then 30 seconds for pure frustration and a complete waste of my time. I'm not saying this game needs a hyper competitive trophy road or anything, but it needs SOME kind of matchmaking system to AT LEAST even the teams out at bit. Trying to regulate things with RNG 1 isn't working and 2 frustrates the hell out of good players who aren't allowed to punish/carry.
@177SCmaro I also want to know where the sign up sheet for sleeping with WG is to get on the Red team. The games seemed to be even more one-sided the past week.
@ Unfortunately the sad calculation is this: WG believes they will make more money catering to the revolving door of casuals who just want to turn their brains off and play shooty boats for a couple hours then the veterans who know what they're doing and have stuck around for years. In other words, this isn't a thinking man's arcade shooter, this has become a game that actively discourages thinking, skill, and cooperation and instead encourages headless chicken, charge in free for alls where if they get blown up in the first 5 minutes oh well, just start another game and do it all over again. This is one reason I think they keep ramping up RNG, to try to get these...people....to last longer. The downside it that crushes competition, which really pisses off the good players, as it reduces the game to a digital slot machine skinned in a naval arcade shooter. These two factors combined go a long ways in explaining why so many matches are one-sided. Not only are the players bad but if all the rng stacks up on one team of course it will be a steamroll.
I've had the game for 4 years now but never really got into it. I have a total 800 battles. I think I'm an alright player. 58% winrate. This game just stresses me out. Again, I'm not a great player but I understand the simple basics of what to do. However, I find myself wondering what the hell other people are doing. I get it's a game and some people just want to have fun but damn! There's so many videos out there on how to be a better player. I play tier 4 mostly but I see it doesn't get any better in higher tiers. One thing I found useful is trying to find people who will pay attention and respond to the command wheel. I try to support those players. And btw fu*k you for playing carriers lol. I absolutely hate carrier players.
A 58% win rate (and over a 1.5 k/d ratio) probably puts you in much better than just "alright", probably more like the top 20% of players. Maybe the top 10% given how bad the playerbase is these days. Which means you and I are in the same boat, pun intended. I use to play everyday but I can barely be bothered now. Between terrible teammates and rng making the game overly casual there isn't much reason to play for relatively good players like us.
I haven't played since November. Best decision of my life. Scummy company. Trash teammates. Nearly impossible to carry, teams are far too small. At least in the games I've been playing (War Thunder, Hell let loose), the teams are a bit larger. Still alot of potatoes, but it is much easier to carry, and it doesn't feel like everyone on your team has severe CTE.
Oh trust me I understand 👍. I've been playing more Sims and other games. I had my limits I did my tasks I wanted to do in 3 hrs and logged out the other day. I've seen that stuff time and time again. 😂 might as well plan other games at this point NTM Wargaming screwing players by lowering drop rates in last seasons crate drops. Rigged Systems for sure made me not want to play much anymore I won't touch the game until at Least Thursday or Friday. Just lost a family member so between work and family I'll be busy for a while.
When i get into a game i have no expectations so i usually don't get unhappy Then in a iowa get skip bombed by chkalov...... I would love for will to rebuild to heal a lot more along with that teamsneed to be made bigger and like with will we need more i think survivability things 30 second heal would be nice......
I mean, it is a free to play game so you shouldnt expect too much imo. Theres no in game Tutorial for a reason you know. WG have honed the Algorithm to make money, nothing else. 16k games in, 72% winrate, conplete tech tree and ive only spent about £50 total in 5 years so ive had my fun. Semi retired as of a year ago and have noticed that the less i play, the better my RNG is. P2W game
There are many f2p games that don't have the problems this game does, or, if they do, nowhere near to this extent. There are ways to mitigate these problems. The devs simply have no interest in going to the effort probably because they don't see the profit in it. It may bite them in the backside someday when they find themselves out of a job because they drove away their veteran players and the casuals get bored of the game.
Man, It’s 9v9, no one, even at the top tier with a maxed-up commander can win it solo. Sometimes the team is shit (probably, if you are good, you will face a crappy team most of the time, because of the balancer). Stay chill, or just delete this shit if this rules not for you. Sorry for the straight answer.
You have the"balancer"backwards. If you're good odds are you'll be teamed up with bad players more. I'm willing to wait longer for battles to start if they did a skill based matchmaking instead of throwing me on a horrible team to"balance"it out.
