Hey james do you have a video that explains how to amend the soil? Also I appreciated the tomato vid especially when I struggle to grow tomatoes almost every year lol. 🤠👍
Thanks James. I started my very first food forest this year. You saved my life buddy. That’s really all I can say. Thank you brother. You gave me a passion, and I’ll be forever grateful.
Thank God you're back. First time homeowner and I didn't want to have to go through growing a food forest for the first time without you. Look forward to seeing you and Tuck, and let's not forget the chickens.
What a video!!! So glad to see the Master Gardener Tuck and his Apprentice James!!! This was so great to see video #2 of 2022. Can't wait for the rest/weekly. Last year I was hospitalized for 4 1/2 mos. and missed 1/2 of the Spring and ALL of the summer. There was NO garden. Thank GOD I found your channel. So looking forward to planting along with you. Kisses and hugs to Tuck!!!
Don’t start your tomatoes too early and be patient transplanting them out, is probably the most valuable tip for new gardeners yet the one it seems like everyone must learn the hard way.
My mother always put a spoonful of crushed egg shells under the tomato plant when planting and this calcium prevents end rot . This fix has never failed.
Hi James, I’ve been successfully gardening for over a half century now in Maine, but I so enjoy your take on it. I love your enthusiasm, your willingness to share, and of course, Tuck. Thank you so much for giving your time to us. I hope you have another great year in the garden and all of your ventures. All the best, Doug
My daughter is so happy she can watch your videos again you are her inspiration for her growing her lien garden and she’s only 6 and we are trying the super sweet 100s this year
Awesome video, very helpful! My family and I have started a small backyard garden. Less than 2 years in our new home and we've completely transformed the backyard into a beautiful garden space. We are beginner gardeners, growing and learning along the way. Recently I started a gardening channel to help encourage others to start growing as well. No time better than now to learn self sufficiency. 💚🌱 Thank you!
James, what a wonderful gardening lesson. If we follow your lessons there is no reason we cant have a fruitful garden season. Little Tuck slipping his head in.
I hear you about the "last frost date"! Our date is May 17th, zone 4 Canada 🇨🇦. I now wait until at least June 10th to put my tomatoes 🍅 and peppers 🫑 in the ground. I've been impatient and planted some out early June ..... then we get a frost warning! 🤬 They were fine because I would double cloche them and also cover them with fleece. So happy to see you and Tuck back in the garden 💕! PS Excellent tip about the gardening journal! My garden is gradually getting bigger and bigger, and I have to start writing everything down! It's too much to remember now!
So happy tomato starting season. Nothing beats a fresh tomato from the garden. I even just enjoy touching the leaves and the smell of my seedlings is very exciting.
I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful tomatoes. Your plants are simply amazing if I could only do this with mine. I'm a first time gardener and your video has given me so much inspiration. I can't wait to get started. Those Cherry bomb plants are breath taking. Wish me luck this year
As a general rule I also wait till after Mother's Day to plant my tomatoes (but still keeping a close eye on the weather). Only once did I have to use "backups" because we had a mild frost the first week of June that year. Great video James! And you showed a very good example of companion gardening.
This happened to me as well, mostly because I was definitely over-watering! Now I only water my seedlings once a week. The seed starter soil is very good at retaining water. ^_^
Another great video with a lot of detail. I use a grow light because that is the only way I can get them the light they need. This is by far the best gardening channel on YT.
I just discovered your podcast a couple weeks ago. So I've been binge watching your old shows. Love Love Love them. I haven't had a veggie garden in many years. I desided after hearing there might be a food shortage I should plant one.
Thanks for all you do! I like your informative and energetic presentations on gardening in the backyard setting. You are the real-deal! I am happy to watch your videos and look forward to seeing your beautiful yards! Do up-date later on when your special apple fruits again. I also love seeing all the different tomatoes you harvest.
Niiice! Thanks dude! I've got some Cherry Falls, Roma, Brandywine, and some experimental Sweet Prince tomatoes from Row7. I'm also getting some Sungold and Early girl hybrids. and thanks for the seed sources. 🍅 Let's go tomato!
Thanks James for all your work, info and energy! Your videos help a lot because I also live in Jersey so its easier to see what you're growing around what time of the year.
I've been a beginner gardener for about 8 years but now that I'm retired I'm hoping to become a novice soon, with the help of experts like yourself. I've always pruned the bottom leaves and taken off the suckers in the early life of the plants but after awhile I just let the plant do its thing. Should I be taking off the suckers the whole time? I found your channel about a month ago and have already learned so much. Tuck is awesome. I love seeing him in your videos. Yorkies are my fav. I hope to have one someday soon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and thanks in advance for a reply. Happy gardening!!
I got my packet of Super Sweet 100 seeds last week and I'm going probably start them next weekend. I'm ready for it to warm up and the gardening season to begin even if this year it's going to be light for me, I'm going to concentrate on doing a few things well and on getting my fruit trees thriving rather than try to do too much. (I'm still going to try to get okra to grow well here in zone 4b, whether it wants to or not)
A couple of years ago I grew some tomato plants, one of the plants didn't even get bigger than a foot, and it kept growing little cherry tomatoes. It was fabulous and tasty. Thanks for the great clip 💯
Watching your videos from Edmonton, Alberta Canada where it's -5 degrees Celcius today! 🥶😂 I LOVE your passion in your videos! ❤ can't get over how tall some of your tomatoes get!! 😳
Hey, nice video! A tip to add for Southern California gardeners, or anyone who might be dealing with that insanely powerful mid day sun and some equally powerful wind: harden off your plants in the shade and start by leaving them out only for an hour or two hours per day in the morning or evening. Direct sun around here will kill your babies in less than 30 minutes, so please consider you local conditions. Happy growing!
Great info today. Got my shirt Friday and I love the red color, it looks good with the “Grow” design and it’s really soft. Have a blessed day. 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕👩🏻🌾
Prepping for next year. Life issues cause me to have a very small, late garden this year. Going to be attempting to do seed starters this coming 2023 season! So glad you mentioned Baker Creek seeds. Found their website and ordered my seeds there. What a beautiful range they have! 😁 Thank you for posting all of your videos! You and Tuck seem to have such an amazing time. Keep at it!
We have our Union County NJ seedling well on their way. We started the peppers on March 6 and the Tomatoes on March 20 and 21. We just started 4 more varieties of Cherry and another group of Oxhearts on April 9. I decided that I wanted more variety of Cherry and the Oxheart was out favorite. I am also doing 19 varieties from the Dwarf Tomato Project after having good results from an Uluru Ochre I planted. I am very happy to support a Jersey guy and your channel was one of my inspirations!
So happy to see you back on and WOW you are really giving some great information. I wish I known about the Mykos Pure Mycorrhizal Inoculant before I planted. I will just have to get some and a few more plants and see which grow better. Thanks for all the great information and can't wait to watch your garden grow this year.
IT'S TOMATO TIME WITH TUCK LETS GOOOOOOO!
We have been waiting all year for this!! 🐕❤️

James, glad to see you back brother.
Enjoy seeing your growth over the past few years have been awesome!
Tuck is the best bud!
Thanks for the kind words Matt!

Tomatoes are one of the best things to grow. I grew tons of heirloom varieties the kids loved it and we ate spaghettis with every color sauce.
