I been browsing setup videos and this was recommended to me and I got to say this is one of the most satisfying setup videos I’ve seen. I use a split keyboard for that very reason you mentioned with the Alice layout. Having one’s posture open up in a natural position is heaps better. I love my Keychron q1 but the first thing I noticed every time I use it is how restrictive the typing posture is on it 🥲 I hate having to tilt my wrist or arms inward to type more accurately. I actually lean towards things like the Alice Layout or just a split keyboard in general. Thank you for describing each item in the detail you did. I’d very much like to recreate this setup but with my needs. I’d like an ultra wide though but I’m not opposed to the tv as a computer monitor.
Deff feeling this work, gaming, productivity setup. I'm noticing how much good lighting matters and the ease of use of everything working well for what they are intended while leaving lots of desk space. The controls for audio control to mic and apps remind me of the yeti i have been using for some time, but currently looking for a new mic stand/setup for that honker. I broke my last stand from the weight of the yeti in use and not handling the weight while having terrible reach. Seeing more desks swapping to better xlr setups are making me want an adc/dac to help boost the audio lvls. I love the ergo options I haven't thought about. I'll give the mouse rest a try while checking out that key layout. The small things really make this come alive.
Your videos have consistently inspired my desk set up more than pretty much any other channel. Super excited to have a little more money and finally make all the updates I want to
I was looking at that volume mixer until I found the TurnUp Volume Mixer. Should definitely check it out! Great video like usual. Looking forward to the video about the mini screen!
I just upgrade to the LG C2 42 inch OLED as well. Makes a terrific monitor paired with my 4090. Old games look new and alive with color and more detail. Text looks sharp to me. I am coming from a 40 inch 60hz Seiki pro 4k monitor with MVA panel. The difference is night and day. Now I am thinking of buying a second one! 😉
Oh, the Megalodon 3 knob didn't make the "long term use" cut? Did something happen to bump it out of your workflow? I was an inch away from getting one after watching your video on it, but if there ended up being something wrong with it or you found something better I would love to know before I committed to buying one.
So the megalodon has only improved since I bought it. They've put out new firmware recently that makes it even more useful and I believe they've just released a wireless version as well. The only reason why it wasn't featured in this video is because I tried to "reset" my desk setup for 2023, and I have additional macropad reviews coming. In other words, the megalodon is still an excellent option, I just rotate items in and out because that's what this RUclips channel is all about. Hope that helps.
This is a really good question, and I'm not gonna lie, there are times when I miss the ultra wide. For example, I really liked how I could do "picture by picture" mode, and use two inputs at once. That said, overall I'm happy with the switch, but it seems OLED ultrawides are starting to arrive (they're currently pretty expensive) and in a year or two they may be ready for more people.
Wow, I found you and I love your channel. Something I admire. It seems you have just started your YT journey and been so successful. Definitely inspired. Going to edit and post my 50th video tomorrow. I love your desk set up and the monitor is beautiful. What camera do you use to film your videos?
Ill be honest. I liked the 49inch more. You influenced me on getting a Odyssey G9 lol. But I fear ill eventually head the same way as you are. 42inch OLED as monitor seems to be the clear best option currently...
can you do a deeper dive into the "monitor" I am looking to make a similar switch but I am a software engineer and am worried about text clarity, especially when using my mac. I have heard that ppi is extremely important with the specs of the C2 falling below that threshold but I also know that the C2 can upscale and do some other things behind the scenes so I am unsure about the switch.
Yes! I keep it plugged into a little USB hub that I velcro'd to the bottom of my desk. That hub has power, HDMI, and the USB switcher from my mechanical keyboard. When filming this video I did disconnect the macbook so I could get that shot of me pulling it out from the desk. Thanks for watching btw!
I've been editing in Adobe Premiere and After Effects on Windows my whole life. It works but it seems like everyone is going to DaVinci these days and I'm debating changing. My PC specs are pretty low end all things considered, but it works for 4K 24fps footage.
@@WorkFromHype thanks. I am at cross roads with switching to Mac with a newer mbp or staying with windows myself (used windows my whole life). Though I am iPhone and apple watch.
Interesting... I tried it both ways and couldn't hear the difference. I ended up with this layout for wire management purposes lol. I'll have to try again.
Right now I'm actually using it without a monitor arm, which is crazy for me. I've always used montor arms but the C2 is so large that it's already at the right height for me just sitting on the desk with the built in legs. (I'm 6'5 so that may have something to do with why it works). Hope that helps.
@@WorkFromHype Instead of using HDMI bypass to get the images, which has its limitation. The Govee model(T2) I'm using uses 2 cameras to capture what is shown on the screen and mirrors the light effects onto the LEDs behind the monitor, creating an immersive viewing experience.
Thanks dude! I have a whole video about the process if you're interested. But the simple version is Hue has an app for windows that lets you switch light modes with a hotkey. The macropad has some basic software to program hotkeys, and so I paired them up to run hue. There are limitations though, it doesn't work if the PC is off etc.
Thanks for the support! The wireless charger was purchased at Costco in the US. It was a generic wireless charging stand. You should be able to find something similar on Amazon, sorry I don't have more info for you.
Since you’re using an ergonomic keyboard now, have you considered doing the same for the mouse? I used to use an mx master 3 but I’ve since switched to the Logitech Lift and my wrists have never been happier!
I've been considering it... Glad to hear you like the lift. Last I time I looked at ergo mice they still didn't have all the bells and whistles the MX series had. I'll give the Lift a look!
You are correct. I used to daily drive the nuphy, but I've since made it my travel keyboard. I still really like that keyboard and recommend their products.
I have a video on my channel that goes into more detail, but it's basically for when I have a full screen game / video up, and I want to be able to check my music, downloads, PC performance, etc. I also like keeping to do lists and other productivity windows on there. Hope that's helpful.

Looking forward to a 1 year update on the OLED! Apparently that’s the time frame where problems start if using for typical computer use.
I’m back for the same thing! Very curious how it's going

Fellow video editor here, just found your channel and have been really enjoying the content!
Thanks for watching and glad you are here. I try and slip in video editing gear in the videos whenever I can get away with it lol.
I love to look at other people's desk setup. 😀
Hi. What was that green little monitor on the the left that had the time with the keys underneath?
Imagine how much work you'd get done instead of talking about work
42 inch looks like a good size for controller gaming because you can sit back. But it’s too big for mouse and keyboard gaming
4:58 that isn't how a normal person holds their wrists whe typing. 😂 My arms are a around a 70⁰ angle with my wrists both outward.

I've not dabbled with Astro products since the Xbox 360 days but I remember liking them a lot. I'll check it out! Thanks for the recommendation.
ppi is absurdly low how can you work with that giant monitor
I was looking at that volume mixer until I found the TurnUp Volume Mixer. Should definitely check it out! Great video like usual. Looking forward to the video about the mini screen!
Thanks for the support. I will definitely check out TurnUp!
Great vid! What screen saver are you using at the very last few seconds of the vid there?
I believe that is from wallpaper engine. If you search "colorful OLED" inside wallpaper engine you should find it.

Do you miss the wide aspect ratio when gaming coming from the ultrawide to the OLED? That is what is keeping me from going to a large OLED.
This is a really good question, and I'm not gonna lie, there are times when I miss the ultra wide. For example, I really liked how I could do "picture by picture" mode, and use two inputs at once.

thronmax or blue yeti arm blue compass or elgato arm...pretty much the same

what game?
The games featured in this video are Metroid Prime Remastered, Crusin Rush, and Shredders.

I need that paint color/brand on the back wall! 🔥🔥🔥
If you flip your speakers over (tweets on the outside) it will help to widen and improve your soundstage.

Suggest you try the Govee T2 for the backlights
Mate, can you tell a bit why it worth checking?
